Emma’s Driver Spotlight Of The Week
: Bobby Walls IIIJuly 19, 2003

This weeks driver profile will be on Bobby Walls III of the Modified Lite division. Bobby comes from a racing background; as far back as his Grandfather and his Fathers. Bobby’s Grandfather, Bobby Walls Sr. was the first family member with the number twenty-two. Bobby Sr. drove a Modified car back then. They would race at the Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, DE, which at the time was under a NASCAR sanction I was told. Bobby Sr. also raced at Wall Stadium.
Now it was time for Bobby Walls Jr. to try out his skill in racing. Bobby Jr. also used the number twenty-two for his Modified car. Bobby Jr. also raced at the Georgetown Speedway, East Bay Speedway in FL., the Flemington Speedway in New Jersey, and the Volusica County Speedway in FL. Bobby Jr. won a Championship for the Pop Baker in 1976. Bobby Jr. drove Modifieds form 1969-1985. Bobby Jr. also drove Quarter-Midgets for his Father for about six years.
Next in the family to race would be Bobby Walls III. Bobby Sr. got Bobby III into racing at age of seven. He began his career in driving go-karts at the Middleford Speedway in Seaford, DE. Bobby III drove go carts for a number of years, and then he went into the Modified Lites division and races at DIS. He came in second at Volusica County Speedway. Then Bobby III also won the Modified Lite Championships in 1997 and 2000 at the Delaware International Speedway, in Delmar, DE. Bobby III has continued his love for racing and the family traditional number of twenty-two. Bobby III has had an opportunity to drive a Big Block Modified a couple of times. He drove the number sixty-two of Rick Bishop and the number three for Howard Mullins.
I feel this young man will be a force to be reckoned with and a driver to watch when he goes to the next class. Good Luck Bobby in what ever you race. You have many fans both young and old that love to see you race. I sat down with Bobby III and Bobby Jr. to try to get the low-down on their family history and the story of their racing careers.
Next week, my driver profile will be on David Nailor who drives the number nine Street Modified class. David also comes from a racing family, like many of the drivers at my home track. I have been a dirt racing fan for over twenty-five years and these guys put on great shows for us. Thanks to all our racing teams.

Jon feels he wants to move up to the URC Sprints next year, if the money is there. So if the URC Club owners look at this young man and talk to him I think you will like what you hear.
Jon's crew is Lee, Janet, Ryan, Ricky, Johnny, and Kevin. Jon sponsors are Bennie Junction, Callaway Furniture, DE-MD-RV, Suzuki, American Legion, and Lighting Chassis. Which include his Father, Bobby Callaway, Step-mother, Penny, his Mother, Michelle Hitchens, Stepfather, Dane Hitchens, his Grandfather, Paul, and his Brother Corey. Oh yes and his girlfriend Jennifer Curtis. Watch this young man, he is a driver that has it together and will do great in his racing career. Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching your racing career.
