Ray Evernham came to DIS and drove the Jake Marine # 85H big block Modified in the heats and drove the feature to finish 13th after not driving a modified for 14 years. Its like riding a bike I'm sure. Craig Strickler (personal driver for Ray's motor coach and to other events) accompanied Ray to DIS. Also Bob Decker (Carl Edwards car hauler) had a night out with the guys too.
Mullins had a shock fall off when a bolt broke. Bobby Wilkins had transmission yoke break. Millman broke something and used the T10 Craig Ott Drives. On a restart Steele did not adhere to radio transmissions as where to get in line, after a few attempts he was black flagged and sent to the pits. Westcott made his way here again this week but had a mechanical problems forcing him not to start the feature.
Millman started on the point, with Reed, Foskey, Johnson and Short the top 5. At halfway Johnson lead Simpson, Millman, Wilkins, and Short.

Top 5 Fastest Qualifying Times:

Bobby Watkins - 21.960 seconds and 81.967 MPH on lap 8
Matt Jester - 22.080 seconds and 81.522 MPH on lap 12
Chris Hitchens - 22.100 seconds and 81.448 MPH on lap 9
Donnie Dutton, Jr. - 22.122 seconds and 81.367 MPH on lap 1
As far as I know only 8 laps are run for the qualifying but the paper work had drivers finishing in 9 & 12 laps?
Only 45 points separated Watkins and Mullins at the start of the night. On a restart Mullins was 3rd got pinched up against front straight away wall causing a major cluster. Involved were Mullins, Griffith, Richardson, Carr, Tracey, Adams, Evans, Trice, Hitchens Chaney, Trimble; some were able to return.
Tommy Evans has had a run in clean driving, and a little bit of in the right place at the right time for the better part of the season. That can be hard to do sometimes. Tonight the car did take a little beating just like Chaney, Trimble, Mullins, Ireland and quite a few others as well. Lets just say some were just not quite the width they use to be at the start of the feature or a more compact version.
Hitchens started up front on the go signal followed by Jester, Walls, Trice, Mullins.

Ray Evernham drove the 16 of Tim Whites' Mod Lite in qualifying lap. However, his night did not go as planned as he did some flipping as he reached turn 3. Yet the car was not damaged bad and Dave White drove it in the feature and finished 11th. Evernham left his autograph on the car quoting "Ray Evernham 9-19 Had a flippin good time."
Tim White had all in the family get together and race again this week as in last but adding even more members of the family. His brother Kevin White who works on Jeremy Mayfield's # 19 as a tire specialist drover Tom Turnbaugh # 19. His cousin Matt White in # 946 who is brother to Sparky White # 45, Bunky White's son who drove 45E, and Tim's father Dave White coming out of retirement and finished 11th.
