Motorsports Complex
August 25, 2011
By Bonnie Nibblett
Delmar, DE…..The summer is just about over, many schools have started, and days
are already getting dark earlier. I hate to see it end, because it also means
racing in Delaware will be over before we know it. So make good use of the time
we have left before that wares that craving NEED FOR SPEED start.
So this weekend there’s a lot of action going on at the US 13 Dragway, and the
Delaware International Speedway. Don’t miss out on all the fun.
The US 13 Dragway will honor the 48th Annual William J. Cathell Memorial. With
that it is also time to celebrate the Super Chevy Show, Shine & Drags this
Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011. It’s a chance to see some really well restored Chevy show

This is also the first Sunday event after switching back from Friday night
action. So there are no races on Friday nights now, all events have returned to
Sundays. Call the tracks hot line at 302-846-3968 for the current weekend’s
action at the complex. Or check out the tracks web site at
www.delawareracing.com.
Come out for the car show, and then hit the Dragway for some fast ¼ mile action.
Better yet, come to the speedway Saturday night, and then return Sunday for the
drag & Chevy show. Now that’s a way to have some fun.

The celebration at the ½ mile clay circle has an action packed Saturday night
in store for fans, too. It’s “King of Kings” Night for Late Models. All the
feature late model winners for this season, will race one another for a 10 lap
special feature for bonus monies.
Plus, the speedway is hosting “A Blast Of The Past” special night this Saturday,

Redbud69racing.com Rookies of the Year for 2011 have been battling with close
results in points. Who will be honored this season? The points end with
the last regular night of racing, which may be Oct. 1. That is not set in stone,
because there could be schedule changes from rain out nights this year.

in the AC Delco Modified class
The speedways point battle is running pretty close too, but I imagine these
will be the champs this year. Leading in each class is Matt Jester #62 in the
NAPA big block modified, Donald Lingo, Jr. #55L in late model, John Curtis # 17
in AC Delco modified, Joe Warren # 11 in crate models, and Brandon Dennis # 10
in mod lites.
The US 13 Kart Club Track still has quite a few nights of racing left. Come out
to see the future racers. They run every Friday night with the exception of Sept
10. The final state race is Saturday, Sept 10. Fridays gates open at 5 PM,
registration 5-7PM, practice racing at 7PM. The track has been fast all summer
