Delmar, DE…..The racing action at the Delaware Motorsports Complex continues to roar every weekend with racing pleasure for all. The tri-track grounds is the home of the Delaware International Speedway, which is a half-mile super fast clay oval, the ¼ mile dragway of US 13 Dragway, and the grounds of the US 13 Kart Club Track with racing every weekend. The complex is located just 1 mile north of the MD / DE state line, in Delmar, DE, 50 minutes South of Dover, DE and 30 minutes West from the beaches.
The next big, and one of the best nights of racing will be coming on Tuesday, July 7, with rain date if needed on July 8 for the 37th Annual Camp Barnes Benefit Races. Cathell turns the track over to the Delaware State Troopers for one hell of night of racing action. The Delaware State Troopers and Camp Barnes, Inc put this event on every year and always entertains the huge crowd of fans and racers. Support from the racers, and fans are always a success and it is all for a good cause. Your support is needed and it is a great night of family fun. Admission for this special race is only $15 for Gen. Admin. It’s a full night of racing action.
Quite a few drivers have supported this event every year from all over the northeast area. These drivers will go up against the regular Delaware drivers and put on a great show all at the same time. It is a real great night of racing and most of all the cause benefits many boys and girls. Camp Barnes sends boys and girls 7 10 yrs old to a camp (Camp Barnes) to develop social skills and many ways to learn to be sportsmanlike and many other stabled skilled teachings the youth need today. The kinds have to qualify for camp and all is paid by Camp Barnes, Inc.

Charlie Cathell, track owner/promoter has kept the fans on their toes as what new or fun event to change up some of the daily weekend racing action. Cathell added new things to the schedule for the speedway this year, with the Mix & Match, Wings & Things, Run What You Brung, and for the first time ever Topless night. The track just had the second Mix & Match event with both the super Late Models and big block Modifieds racing together in a 30 lap feature. The first match modified driver Jamie Mills won, this past one was won by late model driver Richard Jarvis, Jr.
Both divisions have their own heats and are lined up by fastest time in each class afterward. Then the top one in each class comes to the track to draw for the inside or outside row. Donald Lingo, Jr. drew the inside so all the late models lined up behind him and the modfieds on the outside row with Jamie Mills on the top spot. The track was smooth and heavy for the night’s event. It’s a wild sight to see the two classes run toe to toe. The next Mix & Match will be on Aug. 8.
The URC Sprint return to the circle track this weekend, June 27 and July 4, will be the first Wings & Things race for all regular divisions. That should be wild! The URC Sprints has had new team of J. J. Grasso in the Cathy and Pat Palladino # 99 owned sprint car to the victory circle on both visits of the season. Come see if he can win number three of the season at Delmar on the 4th.

Ray Davis, Jr. # 84 super late model
took a wild ride June 6 and totaled the car. Davis was uninjured.
The US 13 Dragway just switched gears and will now be held on Friday nights until Aug. Once school lets, it opens the door to switch from Sunday events to Friday nights. This Friday will be the 4th Bad 8 fro Open Wheel, and Full Body. Next months schedule is below for viewing. Or visit the tracks web at www.delawareracing.com. The US 13 Kart Club Track is off this Friday and next week. The next event is the Delaware Dirt Divisional Series held on July 11. Gate open at 2 PM, gate admission is only $5. The next club race will be Friday, July 17. Check the tracks web at www.dekarting.net from any news.
Regular Saturday night racing on the ½ mile is only $12 for gen admin; Sprint night is a little more. It cost to do anything now a day, movies, games, with the economy still regrouping; a night of racing is reasonable for all the action, plus it is a family thing. Its just great fun and you have to treat yourself every now and then.
