Delmar, DE…..The racing action just keeps getting hotter and hotter with every show at the Delaware International Speedway.  The racing this season has just been phenomenal, with specials like the Topless Night, or the “Twin 20’s”, “Wings & Things” along with the regular five divisions of racing every Saturday night.

The 38th Annual Camp Barnes Benefit Stock Car Race will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 with a rain date (if needed) on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Speedway.  This Benefit race is one of the main sources in raising funds for the Camp.  Gates open at 5 PM, racing starts at 7 PM.  General Admission only $15, Pits $25.  Check the www.CampBarnes.net web for details or the tracks web at www.delawareracing.com and redbud69racing.com.  Come out to support.  The favorite late model vs. modifieds 12 lap shoot out, big money on the line for all divisions’ racers features, lap monies, it goes on and on for all kinds of ways for the drivers to gain and receive bonuses .

The Delaware State Troopers and Camp Barnes, Inc. put this event on every year and always entertains the huge crowd of fans and racers.  Support from the racers, and fans are always a success and it is all for a good cause.  Your support is needed and it is a great night of family fun.  It’s a full night of racing action.

Many drivers have supported this event every year from all over the northeast area.  These drivers will go up against the regular Delaware drivers and put on a great show all at the same time.  It is a real great night of racing and most of all the cause benefits many boys and girls.  Camp Barnes sends boys and girls 10-13 yrs old to a camp (Camp Barnes) to develop social skills and many ways to learn to be sportsmanlike and many other stabled skilled teachings the youth need today.  The kids have to qualify for camp and all of it is paid by Camp Barnes, Inc. This night of racing action is something you don’t want to miss.

The speedway is located on the Delaware Motorsports Complex just one mile north of the MD / DE state line, 50 minutes South of Dover, DE and 30 minutes west from the beaches on Sussex Hwy.  The complex is also the home of the U S 13 Dragway quarter mile strip, with the U S 13 Kart Club Track just on the left before you enter the main grounds of Delaware International Speedway (DIS) or the complex.

Last year, promoter/owner Charlie Cathell implemented a few new specials to give the fans something unique and fun to watch.  This year the track continued with specials that have been a hit again.  We had “Wing & Things” for Late Models and the Modified divisions.  This weekend “Wings & Things” for the big block Modifieds.  “Topless Night:” for all divisions was back on May 18 and this coming next weekend on July 3 another “Topless Night” will run.  Fans can see the cockpit with the driver handling the car in an unusual way from regular nights racing.

On June 5, the track held “Twin 20’s” for Modifieds which had not been run at the track for many years.  Two 20 lap races were held in one night; the field in inverted after the first race.  H J Bunting III 2009 DIS Track Champions won the first heat and the second feature was won by Jordan Watson.  August 2, will be “Twin 20’s” for the Super Late Models which should be a hoot to watch.
