The track was nice and heavy, but the night was full of cautions in some features, but still full of good action.
Rust was on the pole at the drop of the green, but Dutton soon blew a non transparent white smoke to fill the air that no one could see, just after the start with engine problems and pulls into the infield after lap 1. Yellow on lap 2 for cars in turn 2 and 3, with Rust leading on the restart of lap 3 with Bunting, Johnson, Wilkins, and Bishop the top five. Johnson makes a bold move to get up to Bunting and charges for the lead as the two pass Rust.
Lap 6 Brown got around in turn 2 in front of Crouse, Richards, and Taylor, the restart Johnson leads with Bunting, Bishop, Wilkins and Rust now the top 5. The front field separates them selves a bit, but the mid pack is really bunched up with Mullins loosing spots. Lap 10 Johnson and Bunting come off turn 2 with Johnson and Bunting wheel to wheel on the backstretch almost kissing the back wall after a restart. Down into turn 3 Johnson is hard in the turn and almost looses it in turn 4 but maintain control with Bunting taking the lead though just as the yellow waves for a car in turn 3 and the laps not complete. Johnson gets a break and starts back on the lead; the top 5 still the same at end of half-way lap, 6-10th were 3 wide under the flag stand.
The top five now's only change up was Mullins sneaking back up to 5th. Another yellow lap 15 when Richards 7 Ott tangle and Ott gets topside in turn 2 from the contact. On this restart Johnson and Bunting drag race down the backstretch, but Johnson still leads, on lap 19 Mullins makes his way past Wilkins. Lap 20 Brown gets around on top side of turn 2 right in front of the leaders but is missed by everyone. Lap 21 restart Johnson and Bunting go back to drag racing until Johnson pulls out front of Bunting. Lap 23 Bishop makes his way along side of Bunting in the backstretch and into the turns. Bishop goes to the inside that Bunting had been working all night and pushes up all the way giving Bunting no room forcing him up turn 4 and takes 2nd from Bunting.
Down had problems in heat 2 with pinion ring breaking and used Colby Steele # 101.. Dutton was not sure what happened to his motor at the time.
