Delmar, DE…..The Outlaws are here tonight on the ½ mile clay circle at the Delaware International Speedway.  The speedway is located on the grounds of the Delaware Motorsports Complex in Delmar, DE.  The complex is one mile north of MD-DE state line, only 50 mins. from Dover & the Beaches. The World of Outlaws Late Models (WoOLMS) return tonight for the “Fulton Bank 50”.  The touring late models make one trip to Delaware a race season and take the green for 50 laps.

Tonight they return to the clay.  The track has added new clay this year and the speeds have been fast so far.  The promoter/owner Charlie Cathell has his crew in tip top shape for tonight and worked vigorously getting the track just right.

The outlaws are one event at the speedway that fans love to see.  There’s nothing else like them.  The power you feel when the feature starts, of all those stock cars lined up, just floods with the power right through your body.

Its not to late to make the show tonight, tickets are still on sale and at the track.  This is one event not to miss.  Tonight the Little Lincoln Vintage Stock Car Club will be the pre-race before the outlaws put on their show.  Gate opens at 5PM with warm-ups at 7PM.  Adult general admission just $26, children 7-13 $5 (0-6 yrs free); adult reservation $30, child $9, adult pit admission only $35, child $10.  For track office call 302-875-1911 or look us up on the web at www.delawareracing.com.  You can always call the tracks hot line for latest upcoming events at 302-846-3968

Last year Rick Eckert # 24 took the win.  Can he repeat?  How will the locals fair?  Other drivers such as Chub Frank, Darrell Lanigan, Clint Smith, Jill George, Tim McCreadie just few that are expected to show.  Locals Austin Hubbard, Andrew Mullins, Ricky Elliott, and David Hill are a few of local drivers to compete.  At the time of this writing Darrel Lanigan leads with 68 points ahead of the 2011 WoOLMS Champion Rick Eckert.  Chub Frank is running 3rd, Shane Clanton and Bud McCool round out the top five.  The series web site is www.woolms.com.

Then this coming weekend Saturday, June 3, the track will have “Twin Twenties” for the NAPA Big Block Modifieds during NASCAR weekend in Dover.  The Twin 20’s will have the big blocks run two individual races on Saturday night.  The line-up will include the other regular divisions of Super Late Models, both crate classes, Mod Lites and the Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars will be running too.  The gates will open at 5PM, warm ups at 7PM, Gen. Adm. $18, and $25 for the pits.  Come on out to see some great racing.

The racing so far this season has been impeccable with some tight racing and good car counts.  If you haven’t been this year yet, get in gear and come see the action on the clay.  I promise you will not be disappointed.

Be sure to take notice of the project coming this winter to the complex of Decorating Delmarva “Holiday Festival of Lights”.  It’s the first year of the annual event and things appear to be right on target.  This event will start Nov. 15 – Jan. 5.  The local schools and businesses are coming together with villages such as North Pole Tour on Santa Expressway, Schoolville, Rudolph’s Garage plus many, many more to see.  Local schools will have different options such as High School Holiday Display, or Middle School Tree Decorating Contest.  Funds can be raise for your organization. There will be so much more; you really need to check out the web for more information.  www.decoratingdelmarva.com.

On a sad note we lost the wife (Juanita), of the founder Wm. J. Cathell who preceded in death and the mother of the current operators Charlie, Hal Cathell and Dawn Brown on April 29, 2012.  Juanita will be missed by all that loved her.  The Cathell Family would like to thank everyone for all their cards, thoughts and prayers in our recent loss of one of the precious people there ever was.  I know I will surely miss her very much!
