Delmar, DE…..If you’re in Delaware, you better strap in for a full weekend of racing. Not only is it NASCAR weekend in Dover, but there’s plenty of racing just a little further south, in Delmar.
Its NASCAR weekend in Dover and the dirt track racing coincides right along with the weekend of events. The half mile will host the outlaw show on Thursday night, and Saturday night the mighty URC Sprints (United Racing Club) along with the regular night of racing action of the NAPA Big Block Modified, Super Late Models, AC Delco Modified and the other crate class of Late Models, and the Modified Lite division will visit for the second time this season.
This Thursday night, kick off the weekend with some of the best dirt track drivers in the U. S. with a night of super late model action at the fast half mile clay oval at the Delaware International Speedway. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will be appearing Thursday, at the Delaware Motorsports Complex, located just 1 mile north of the MD / DE state line, in Delmar, DE, 50 minutes South of Dover, DE and 30 West minutes from the beaches. In case of inclement weather, the event will be on Friday, May 30.
Along with the show on Thursday, is the Little Lincoln Vintage Stock Car Club racing before the Outlaw feature. These guys put on a fabulous show each time they hit the track and the club takes pride in always thrilling the crowd. The original cars of the 50’s are stocked and ready to purr on the track. These drivers run just as wheel to wheel as back in the day. Check the clubs web for schedule and news at www.littlelincolns.com.
Kevin Kovac, World of Outlaws Late Model Series P. R. Director has confirmed that NASCAR driver Dave Blaney will pilot a ride in 2007 WoOLMS Rookie of the Year Tim Fuller’s backup Gypsum Express car for the mid-week 50-lap event.
Blaney’s an Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion before moving into the NASCAR stock car series. Blaney currently drives for Bill Davis Racing Caterpillar No. 22 on the Sprint Cup Series. Kovac noted that Blaney’s appearance at DIS will serve as a tune-up for his contribution in the Old Spice Prelude to the Dream on June 4 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. He will drive a Rocket car from Fuller’s stable in the Prelude, which pits more than two-dozen world-renowned drivers in a unique, down-home dirt Late Model race.
Kovac also remarked with Sprint Cup, Nationwide Series and Craftsman Truck Series action taking place nearby at the Monster Mile, there’s a possibility that one or more NASCAR drivers might join Blaney in climbing behind the wheel of a dirt Late Model for DIS’s WoOLMS program.
