Short- Short had steering box problems and did not get to run in the heats.  Short started last and finished 6th in the feature.

The track was heavy and good even with all the rain we had had on Friday with 2-4 ".  Wilkins made his 3rd career Big Block Modified win.  Also it is Wilkins 1st time to win as a car owner, in the Mispillion Development Group, Coastal Marine, Penske Shocks, Dirt Wheels Modified.

Reed started on the point at the green when a yellow was out for Simmons when getting to turn 3 his car dug in and up and over flipping and landing upright, Simmons fired the car (or it may have still been running) and drove into the pits before safety crew even reached him..

Restart Reed leads but at turn one Wilkins took the lead as Reed, Downs, Simpson come off turn 4, 3 wide.  Lap 6 Walker got sideways when trying to avoid Brown as he got slideways in turns 3 & 4 while running about middle way  pack collecting Brown, Hallowell, Ott, and Johnson.  Hallowell & Ott were out.  The restart, lap 7, Wilkins leads Simpson, Reed, Bunting, and Mullins.  Lap 8 Reed got a little wide of turn 2 and losing some spots, lap 10 Wilkins, Simpson, Mullins, Bunting, and Downs.

At halfway same top 5 as lap 10, Wilkins was walking away but action with Mullins, Simpson, Bunting all side by side on laps 13-15, with Simpson getting the most out front.  Lap 16 Wilkins had approached lap cars and handled it with a charm.  On lap 18 Bunting and Mullins went toe to toe with Bunting getting by Mullins on the inside of turn 4 for 3rd as they are in lap traffic.  By lap 22 Bunting and Mullins both had worked by Simpson for the 2nd and 3rd spots as Simpson got in the traffic.

Heat 1 Reed was at the helm on green but it was 3 wide action out of turn 2 between Reed, Downs, and Mullins.  The 3 were nip and tuck still into turn 3 when Downs took inside groove for the lead.  At lap 1 off turn 2 it was Mullins, Simpson, and Reed 3 wide again with Mulling taking 2nd followed by Simpson.  At the start of half way Downs leads Simpson, Reed, Bunting, and Hallowell.  Lap 5 Bunting and Simpson run dead eye even for laps 6-7 and Reed just about half car length ahead of Bunting.

Heat 2 had Short on the pole but with steering problems and no start Wilkins was out front, not much action.

Rookie Kerry King was on the point at the drop of the green, and going.  Lap 2 Mark Pettyjohn got slideways in turn 4 and here came Eddy Pettyjohn with no where to go but into Mark, and both were out.  Restart King leads David Pettyjohn, Jarvis, and Donnie Lingo and Kenny Pettyjohn.  Lap 3 Hill slows and heads to the pits King increased his lead as a battle was on with the next 4.  Lap 6 Hill returned to the track with King still leading D. Pettyjohn, Jarvis, Lingo, K. Pettyjohn.

Lap 9 Dale Lingo got around in turn 1, at the half way King leads Jarvis, D. Pettyjohn, Donnie Lingo, and Rushing.  On lap 12 Jarvis had already moved by David Pettyjohn on the last restart and set his sites on King.  King was running flawless up front but Jarvis was gaining on him quickly.

Lap 13 Jarvis and King run side by side with King edging out front in turn 4.  Lap 14 Jarvis went back to work on King as they came off turn 2 and duking it hard.  This time Jarvis gets by King to take the lead to go on and win his second career win at Delmar in Late Model.  Gear job by King and Jarvis!

Heat 1 King rocked it out to stay 4-5 car lengths of Hill.

Heat 2 had action with the D. Pettyjohn and Jarvis again.  Pettyjohn led on the start and Jarvis started 5th, but Wilkins could not get started and a yellow flew as he laid resting on the apron of turn 4.  At half way Pettyjohn leads, Jarvis, Byram, Donnie Lingo, and Kenny Pettyjohn.  Lap 5 Jarvis is gaining on Pettyjohn each lap.  Lap 6 Pettyjohn and Jarvis enter turn 3 and they are even, with Jarvis takes to the inside to take the lead.  Lap 7 now a battle with Byram, and Lingo battle it out for 3rd but Lingo kept 3rd.

Steve Nutall had a driver testing his # 11 car at DIS of Anthony Rushing of Kosciusko, MS.  Nutall and Rushing met in FL during winternationals, and have stayed in contact.  Rushing has competed in quite a few series of Late Model and has not just ran for points in one series for a while.  Some of Rushing regular racing buddies are Billy Moyer, Shane Clanton and other great racers.  Rushing was feeling out the track to maybe return for the Camp Barns, and WoOLMS shows.  Rushing said "I had no problems with the track, I liked the track it is fast."  Rushing was very personable with fans talking to all that came by the trailer as most drivers I have met.

At half way Mullins leads, Evans, Trice, Curtis, Jarrell, and by lap 9 the field was lapping cars and all players having a good amount of space between them except for a battle with Jarrell and Hawkins scrambling for 5th.  Yellow rang when Hitchens, Curtis, and Muncey tangled when Hitchens got sideways.  The restart had Mullins, Evans, Trice, Curtis, Jarrell, and Hawkins the top dogs.  Lap 14 Watkins, Jarrell, and Hawkins were 3 wide off turn 2 for 5th.

Ryan Walls picked up his 1st win for 2005 at Delmar in a brand new DLC Pro Lightening, Extreme Motorsports Motor, sponsored M & M Heating, NOLAND, North East Pro Fab # 14.  Walls had just finished up on the car that day and had not even lettered it.  Way to go Ryan!

Tonight each class had a young driver to take the win.

This was the first time for the TEAM SLIDE and only 3 teams showed up making it 6 cars.  It was still funny to see them get around the track, but I hope more will join in next time.  NEW this year is the team slide, one car has power and one does not.  The car with no power is pushed by the car with the power, both cars have the same number.  The cars were not attached.  The winner this week was Phillip and Terry Leeson when Phillip pushed his wife Terry around 1st for 5 laps.

This Saturday night a regular show with the Little Lincoln's making the show.  Gates open at 5:00 PM and racing to start 7:00 PM.  See you at the track!

Team Slide For Five Winner:  Phillip & Terry Leeson  # 475
