ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, NY- Danny Creeden On The Mark With Accord Speedway Triumph
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
The ravages of weather through a wild late August and early September time-span
created plenty of problems for the American populace living in the Northeast and
the problems will be ongoing for sometime as residents continue to dig out from
the recent floods that were caused by Hurricanes Irene and Lee. Speedways in the
Northeast also suffered from the poor weather as tracks located close to streams
and rivers became inundated by high waters that have caused much damage to the
speedways grounds. The Accord Speedway took a major hit in that span of time as
the Ulster County area was without power for nine days and caused one event
cancellation and resulted in the speedway hustling to make schedule changes and
above all to restore the speedway to the pristine condition the Palmer Family
prides themselves in operating. With the heavy amount of rain that fell all day
Thursday and into Friday morning, it was going to take a miracle for racing to
take place on Friday night. Undaunted, the Palmer Family and work staff went to
work and went non-stop right up until racetime to snap the race track back into
race worthy condition. At 6:35 on Friday evening track announcer Steve Pados
greeted the racing fans as the last of the track prep equipment was removed from
the raceway. With the assistance from a good number of race cars, the excess
moisture in the turn areas was squeezed away and the hot laps began. While the
crowd and the car counts suffered a bit from the economy and the flood waters,
the racing was intense and a great show was run off with time to spare in the
evening as the final event was checkered at 10:14 PM. The evening of racing
activities was sponsored by Taylor Rental in Kerhonkson and the vaunted "house
of power" the Orange County Fair Speedway. Whitey Memmelar, one of the longtime
directors at OCFS, offered up some Eve of Destruction and Eastern States Weekend
tickets for some lucky Accord racing fans. When the curtain fell on the evening
of racing activities, "DC" Danny Creeden stood in the Lucas Oil Products Victory
Lane with his first Accord Modified win of the season. Youngster Tyler Dippel
captured his first ever Spec Sportsman win in a great drive, veteran campaigner
Dave Werber captured his first win in the Sportsman ranks, Pat Zimmer added to
his Pro Stock point lead with another win, Mike Deyo scored his first win of the
season in the Pure Stock ranks and Rich Woods clicked off some 12.297 second
laps to score a narrow win over Justin Phillips in a Lightning Sprint battle of
Connecticut residents.
Bobby Hentschel and Mike Sabia brought the starting VP Fuels/Rhinebeck Ford
Modified field down for the start of the 30-lap encounter. Hentschel won the
drag race off of the line to grab the lead and Geoff Quackenbush quickly moved
into second place as Sabia slid up the banking in turn four of lap one. Moving
through the field quickly were a pair of superstar talents with nearly 1500 wins
between them as Brett Hearn and Billy Pauch found their marks on the way to the
front. Quackenbush saw his fine ride end when he pulled to a stop at the top of
the racetrack on lap eleven. When racing resumed, it was Danny Creeden sizing up
Hentschel as they raced down the frontstretch and Creeden went to the very
bottom and found some great bite in the basement area of the speedway to emerge
off of turn two with the lead. Creeden show superior power as he held off the
likes of tow of the best in the business in Hearn and Pauch. The action was
tight at mid-pack and the man on the move was "Showtime" Danny Tyler. Tyler came
to life after the mid-point of the race and was on the attack and looking for
more.
Hearn, who with the outing became the new track champion for 2011, kept pace
with Creeden and did stick the beak of the race car underneath on several
occasions but Creeden was on the money amd became quicker as the laps clicked
off. Pauch, after securing third place, began to slow a bit on the racetrack as
his car began to appear to have some handling issues. This opened up the door
for Danny Tyler and Tyler challenged the racing great high and low until Tyler
was forced to back off when a lapped car came into play. Creeden raced on to his
first win at the speedway in 2011 and Hearn locked up the title with the
runner-up finish. Pauch was third in the Atlas Paving chariot and Tyler settled
for fourth with Jerry Higbie rounding out the top five. Mike Ricci, Bobby
Hentschel, Mike Sabia, Richard Smith and Jeff Heotzler completed the top ten.
Empire State talent Dave Werber grabbled the lead at the start of the Camper's
Barn Sportsman headliner and quickly established himself as the man to beat on
this evening of competition. David Coene took up the chase immediately and he
and Werber enjoyed a great battle for the point. The battle raged on from start
to finish with Werber showing the hot hand to gain his forst win at the Accord
facility. David Coene was the runner-up with Shane Jablonka racing hard from
tenth starting place to finish up in third with newly crowned track champion
Kevin Ward and Greg McCloskey completing the top five. Jeff Hulseapple, Anthony
Perrego, Vinny DeCicco, Jesse Marks and RJ Smith completed the top ten
finishers.
Mike Deyo seized the lead at the drop of the green flag and led all of the way
in the extended 20 lap Arkel Motors Pure Stock encounter. Ray Tarantino and
newcomer Kevin Skelly provided plenty of competition and at one point all three
veterans went for the lead with Deyo prevailing to go for the win and new track
champion Ray Tarantino settling for the runner-up role. Skelly was third in a
great performance and Chris Kanuk and Steve Cooper rounded out the top five.
Rookie Dave Demorest had things going his way for the first part of the 25 lap
scramble for the DC Landscaping Pro Stock division. Demorest led the first
eleven laps until he lost the handle and found himself spinning out in front of
the thundering herd of race cars behind him. Ford proponent John Roese inherited
the lead and appeared to be on his way to victory as he held off the advances of
hard driving Pat Zimmer. A slip by Roese on lap-22 was the moment of truth for
Zimmer as he slid to the bottom of the raceway and found an open lane to grab
away the lead from Roese. Roese was forced to check-up and Tom Vasta slipped by
as well and he followed Zimmer for the final laps. Zimmer secured his seventh
win of the season with Vasta in the runner-up position and Roese finishing a
disppointing third. Al Christiana and Paul Aragon completed the top five.
JD Casazza pounded the cushion at the start of the Lightning Sprint feature
event and led through the first four laps until a Joe Szczapa and Doug Norrie
double flip slowed the action. Neither driver was hurt in the incident. When
racing resumed it was JD Casazza leading for one more lap before yielding to the
high flying Rich Wood. Wood had a rocket ship and clicked off some astonishing
lap times as he raced away from the field. Justin Phillips, who won the last
time the sprints were in town, had other ideas as he began to reel in Wood late
in the event. Phillips fell short in his bid and the win went to Woods at the
checkered flag. Phillips was second with Ralph Utter in third from eleventh
starting spot. Peter Dance was fourth and 64 year old racing talent Will Casazza
completed the top five. JD Casazza, Kyle Smith, Jon Mooore, Mark Taylor and
Jerry Sehn completed the top ten.
The Healey Brothers Group Spec Sportsman event proved to be part of the
successful proving ground the Midweek Madness shows provide as reigning National
Junior Slingshot Champion Tyler Dippel scored a monumental win in the event. Joe
Judge led the first 17-laps of the encounter with pressure coming from Dipple
and defending track champion Kyle Rohner. A three wide battle for the lead saw
Dipple emerge with the lead and the youngster fought off bids by Judge and
Rohner to score his firs twin ever in the full size car division ranks. Judge
was the runner-up in a photo finish over Rohner with Whitey Slavin and Phil
Recchio completing the top five.
MUDPLUGS:
Heat winners included Jeff Heotzler and Mike Ricci in the Modifieds with David
Coene and Dave Werber scoring Sportsman wins. Jon Moore, Doug Norrie and Kyle
Smith scored win in the Lightning Sprints.
Once the track was worked in, once again it was fabulous to witness the drivers
going from wall to wall to find their way around the speedway. The three and
four wide racing action in the features has continued to make the Accord
Speedway the most raceable speedway in the Northeast today .
With the win, Danny Creeden will represent Accord Speedway at the Eastern States
Weekend of events fronm October 21st to the 23rd.
Rich Salisbury was on hand for the evening but encountered motor problems all
evening long. Bobby Trapper Jr made his first Accord start but encountered some
problems early on in the feature event. Robbie Rowe returned to action and
scored an eleventh place finish in the Modified main. Aaron Williams made his
second appearance of the season in the Pro Stocks and scored a seventh place
finish in the main event. Matt Ronk made his debut in the Ralph Rnk machine but
dropped out early on.
Modified star "The Mighty Man From Mertztown" Barry White was on hand to take in
the racing action with wife Peg and Dad and car owner Leon Redcay. White was a
recent winner at the Five Mile Point Speedway where he captured a 50-lap main
event.
The new Miss Accord Speedway Erika Decker continued her great work at the
speedway with assisting in the tower and with the victory lane ceremonies.

HAMLIN SPEEDWAY NEWS
Hamlin, PA - Eddie Strada Bags a Double In 600's While Brandon Edgar Scores In
270's To Highlight Hamlin Speedway Micro Mountain Nationals Victories
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Hamlin Speedway sat idle for four consecutive Saturday evenings during the month
of August due to weather related issues. The speedway returned to action over
the Labor Day weekend to jump start the 2011 season once again and came away
with a spectacular racing program that thrilled the racing fans. Last evening,
with the largest crowd of the season cheering their racing heroes on and 150
eager and talented racers on hand doing battle, the evening of racing activities
punctuated the fact the Hamlin Speedway offers the best in small track racing
action with their diversified racing format. The standing room only crowd at the
speedway witnessed an absolutely spectacular race show from start to finish as
all of the talented competitors continue to seek the fast path to glory in their
racing endeavors. The cool weather that rolled in after the sun went down put a
chill in the air, but the seven divisions of racing excitement kept the heat on
and left a lasting impression with the fans who pack the stands each week to see
the stars of Hamlin perform their magic on the 1/5 mile racetrack. When the
final checkered flag fell from starter Russ Furry, new stars emerged into the
Hamlin spotlight as the fifth annual Micro Mountain Nationals provided a
showcase for the impressive parade of top drivers to step into the spotlight.
First and foremost was the showstopping performance from fourteen year old Eddie
Strada as the talented third generation driver captured the rookie wingless 600
event and then followed suit and beat the best in the business as he withstood
non-stop pressure from Ryan Smith to claim the $1,000.00 top prize for his
winning efforts. Lehighton's Brandon Edgar returned to the speedway last evening
and jumped out front at the start of the event to claim the $1,000.00 chunk of
purse put up by evening sponsors S&S Speedways and Walker Plumbing. Jacob Dunn
in the Juniors, Kevin Olver in the Supers, Troy Langerdoerfer in the All Stars
and Mackenzie Harper in the rookie 270's all shared the spoils of winning in the
Hamlin Speedway Victory Circle in a fantastic evening of great racing action.
ARDC Midget Star "Flyin" Ryan Smith displayed his expertise of the Hamlin
facility by being the fast timer in both the 270 and 600 divisions. Smith timed
at 11.890 seconds per lap in the 270's with Edgar a tick behind at 11.984
seconds. Tommy Kunsman, CJ Heinig and "The Boss" Ross Perchak were the top five
qualifiers for the 28-cars on hand. In the 600's, once again Ryan Smith showed
the 34 cars on hand the quick way around the Hamlin oval as he ripped off a
12.286 seconds time with Rick Calvert a few ticks off at 12.359 and the
surprising Molly Chambers nailing a time of 12.362 seconds. New Englander Mick
D'Agostino and Central Pennsylvania standout Mike Rutherford completed the top
five qualifiers.
The rookie 600 twenty lap Micro event saw "The South Canaan Sensation" Eddie
Strada grab the early lead and within three laps found "The Jet" Justin Brewster
providing the tough opposition as the pair of youngsters broke away from the
field. Danielle Dickinson joined the chase before the midway point and the as
the laps clicked off Brewster was throwing all he had at Strada. Strada was
flawless in hitting his marks at every point of the raceway and continued to
pace the field. The final laps saw Brewster drop off a bit as Dickinson provided
a late drive but at the checkered flag it was Strada in for the win with
Brewster in the runner-up role, Dickinson in third in a great drive, Steve Van
Valkenburg in fourth and Tim Howell completing the top five.
26 starters filed into formation for the start of the 30-lap headliner for the
600's. Ryan Smith immediately went topside in turn one and Strada opted to go
one lane lower and found the needed bite to drive off of turn two with the lead
of the event. Posting almost identical lap times, the racing was fantastic as
the veteran Smith moved his car around the real estate trying to find a way past
Strada who just kept hitting his marks lap after lap as the event moved into the
midway point. The action behind the dueling duo didn't go un-noticed as 20 of
the 26 starters finished the event on the same lap and made for great racing
excitement as driving style and guile made each driver earn the piece of
landscape he or she was seeking.
Up front, Smith was relentless in his attack on the second year racer Strada but
Strada showed the expertise of a veteran as Smith would go top to bottom to
dislodge Strada from the lead. Smith stuck his nose underneath Strada on several
occasions and each time Strada was able to get the great drive off of the
corners to keep one of the best in the business behind him. At the checkered
flag it was Eddie Strada in for the biggest win of his young budding racing
career with Smith a close second. Brett Schoenly had the best seat in the house
as he was close behind the leaders in third place with Mark Manieri borrowing
the Dickinson racer to finish fourth and Kyle "The Hot" Lick completing the top
five. Mick D'Agostino, Ryan Wood, Rick Calvert, Jordan Tittle from 24th, and
Ryan Greth completed the top ten.
In the 270 Micro portion of the top billing of the evening, Brandon Edgar took
the lead at the opening bell and through the first portion of the event had
Smith glued to his bumper. As the leaders approached lapped traffic at the ten
lap mark, Edgar began to slice his way through the traffic and placed many
lapped cars in between he and second place man Smith. Smith began to lose power
and "The Aviator" Robbie Watson was quick to slip by Smith. After sixteen laps
of non stop racing action Tommy Kunsman got upside down on the backstretch and
bringing out the first caution of the event. Smith went pitside ending his great
run and on the restart again it was Edgar displaying he was the class of the
field as kept himself a safe distance from runner-up Watson. At the finish it
was Brandon Edgar crossing the line first with Watson, Gene Burd, CJ Heinig, and
the "Cadillac Man" Kurt Bettler completing the top five. Ross Perchak, Trevor
Dunn, Darin Bartholomew, Mason Peters and birthday boy Cody Hauck completed the
top ten that saw thirteen of the starters complete all 30-laps of the journey.
Joe Howey and Troy Langendoerfer brought the 24-car starting field down for the
start of the 25-lap main event for the All Star Slingshots. Langendoerfer was
very good off of the bottom of the raceway as he powered into the lead in turn
one of the opening lap. "Chargin" Charlie Lawrence quickly took up the chase and
the 2009-10 Empire Region Champion applied plenty of pressure to Langendoerfer
and his Grim Construction sponsored hot rod. Joe Howey remained in third for the
first portion of the race but began to lose traction in the turns and gave way
to Mike Fogler and then fell to 2010 National Slingshot Champion Shannon Smith.
Howey fell out of the event and defending track champion Dale Kober was making
lots of noise from ninth starting spot.
The laps clicked off and it was Langendoerfer continuing to work his magic at
the front of the pack with Lawrence still glued to his rear bumper with Fogler,
Smith and Kober trying to take advantage of a mistake by those in front of them.
"The Hot Rod" Kyle Rode moved into challenge after a great drive from 13th
starting place to sixth. The final laps saw Langendoerfer breathe a bit easier
as Lawrence was kept busy with "The Closer" Mike Fogler as Fogler was on the
money with a great set-up and Shannon Smith solid as she had a great car from
the bottom of the raceway. Troy Langendoerfer was in for the win with Lawrence,
Fogler, Smith and Kober rounding out the top five. Rode headed up the second
five with Jeff Cosgrove, Mack Brink, Henry Anderson, and John Bockhorn
completing the top ten. The action was intense and 23 of the 24 starters
completed the 25-lap race distance.
Mackenzie Harper grabbed the lead at the start of the rookie 270 clash with a
power move and blistered the raceway on her way to an easy victory in the
feature event. Hayden Miller was the runnerup with "T-Jet" TJ Lilly in third
place in his return to the speedway. Missi Seip returned the speedway to gather
in a fourth place finish and Craig Fedoryk was back in action and rounded out
the top five.
Kevin Olver captured his first career win at the speedway in a wire to wire run
but the race was far from a give me as top campaigners "Double J" Jimmy Johnston
and Dale Kober applied the pressure from all angle as they tried to dislodge
Olver from the top spot. Olver held on with some great runs from the top of the
raceway and captured the win with Johnston in the runner-up role, Dale Kober in
third, Wes Hearn rallying late for fourth place money and Aaron Henneforth
racing from 13th starting spot to complete the top five. Charlie Bodine, Tom
Arntz, Roger Collins, Henry Anderson and Bob Clark completed the top ten.
"The Weasel" Jacob Dunn blasted out of the starting blocks at the drop of the
green flag in the Junior Slingshot headliner and was able to drive away from the
field after each caution as he raced his way back into the winners circle. "Thrillin"
Dylan Martin kept pace in the runner-up role and "The Tornado" Tyler Johnston
was third despite a close encounter with the Jersey Barriers early on in the
event. Zack Weisenfluh was fourth and Chris Kurtz completed the top five. Kyle
Gruber, Abbey Price, Bobby Flood, Brandon McGill and Kevin Predmore completed
the ten for the 19 Juniors on hand for the evening.
POCO-NOTES:
Heat race winners for the All Star Singshots included Charlie Lawrence, Don
Schmidt, Robby Hocker and Troy Langendoerfer while the B Main went to Tom Arntz.
Jared Labagh and Jacob Dunn won the Junior Heats. Eddie Strada and Justin
Brewster won the 600 Rookie heats while Hayden Miller captured the 270 heat
event for the rookies. Brandon Edgar, Ryan Smith and Mason Peters captured the
270 heats while invader Kenny Duke prevailed in the B Main. Charlie Bodine and
Henry Anderson captured the Super Slinger heats and 600 Micor heats went to Ryan
Greth, Eddie Strada, Brett Schoenly and Shannon Smith with the two B Mains being
won by Brian Gilmore and Rhett Long in the recently purchased Barry Greth owned
600.
Two Dashes were run for the Micros with Brandon Edgar capturing the 270 Dash and
Ryan Smith prevailing in the 600 Dash.
The 150 cars and drivers on hand made for the top car count of the season and
the non-stop racing action is one of the factors the Hamlin Speedway has enjoyed
such a fabulous rebirth since the speedway closed in 2005. Hard work and
determination and a dedicated work force has brought the facility full circle
and the jam-packed pit area is universal proof of the great show everyone will
find at Hamlin. The greatest field of Slingshot stars in the country embark on
the speedway week after week during the season to duke it out to see who the
best of the best is in the rankings. With an average All Star count of 32
Slingshots per week, just to qualify for the main event takes every driver to be
on their A-Game and sometimes a bit of good luck thrown in for good measure is a
necessity.
The pre-race tribute to 9-11 was a fitting touch to the dedication from the
racers as firefighters and competitors Garry Dennis, Kyle Rohner, Kyle Rode,
Larry Mekic, John Pantis and Rich O'Neill brought ther race cars to the back
stretch of the speedway as fellow driver Joseph Smith from Redemption Racing
read a tribute to those who gave their lives on that fateful day.
Checkered Flag Fan Club was on hand for the event and signing up new members and
fifty percent of the 50/50 was donated to the long-standing organization.

K-C Raceway Results FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kane takes Freedom 40 Johnson and Gray pick up Prelims
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-With 93 cars in the pits, including 28 of the best Midwest
All-Stars, the stage was set for a glorious tribute to the 9-11 Anniversary and
annual Freedom 40. Powell, Ohio's Todd Kane returned to the K-C victory lane
after a long absence, enduring several accidents and holding off the charges of
Jimmy Nier to post the win. Kenny Johnson won the star-studded AMRA Modified
main, while Bruce Gray, Jr. won the Hobby Stock main.
The 40-lap Freedom 40 A-main started with a star-spangled bang. Polesitter Danny
Smith got the jump on usual lowrider Dale Blaney and led the first three laps
with Blaney at his side. Blaney inched forward and blasted by on the next
circuit and started to pull away. Todd Kane and Smith viciously exchanged slide
jobs for second place until a fateful lap seven.
Blaney ran into no man's land when the car of Ed Neumeister spun and collected
the cars of Wes McGlumphey, Rob Chaney and Ronnie Blair. Blaney had no place to
go, climbed the wall, and flipped along with McGlumphey. Also with no place to
go, Blair had a hard t-bone type hit into the side of McGlumphy. Luckily no
injuries were incurred. Two laps after the restart Smith lost power and went
pitside handing the lead to a high flying Kane.
Kane built a monumental lead over second place Jimmy Nier and Cole Duncan by lap
16, when he began to reach lapped traffic. The mad scramble for position allowed
Nier and Duncan to quickly erase the lost ground.
Nier and Duncan battled furiously for second somewhat hampering Nier's driver
toward first. By lap 19 Nier broke clear of Duncan and closed the gap on Kane.
Lapped cars again impeded Niers drive to the front, allowing Kane to widen the
lead and Duncan to challenge for second at the twenty-five lap mark.
Kyle Sauder, who hammered the wall during the last lap of his heat was gaining
ground quickly and was one of several drivers to advance seven positions on the
racy 3/8 mile track. Duncan and Kirk Jeffries also conquered that fete with fine
passing efforts, while veteran Chilli-town driver Mark Imler had his best
all-star run, advancing six spots to a solid top ten. Young Nathan Skaggs also
picked up six positions, but the hard charger of the night was another youngster
Sam Ashworth who advanced eight spots in a great run from 18th to tenth.
While fans witnessed great racing at the front of the pack, Sauder and Aaron
Higgins battled hard for position, then had to hold off a charging Rob Chaney,
who had stormed from back in the pack to a top ten ahead of Kody Kinser and West
Virginia Warrior Wayne McPeek. McPeek picked up five spots on the night after
starting 13th.
The 27th circuit saw Kane embrace a straight-away lead. At that point Kane's
lead seemed insurmountable, but Nier and Kane's ISPC J&J/Hampshire Engines mount
both reached a clear track. Nier made a gallant bid that made it a close finish
of about three car lengths.
"I'd like to thank my guys for working their butts off to get me here; and my
little boy--whooo-- was here for just his second race. That's breaking him in
right," shouted a visibly excited Kane.
"Wow, this track was great tonight. Thanks to Jimmy (Nier) and Cole (Duncan) for
racing me clean. It's great to be back here in victory lane. Thanks to the track
crew for a great track and thanks to the fans as well."
Rounding out the top ten were Kane, Nier, Duncan, Sauder, Higgins, Chaney,
Kinser, McPeek, Imler, and Ashworth. The Kear's Speed Shop Heat one winner was
Danny Smith, The All-Pro Heads heat two went to Kody Kinser, and the MSD
Ignition heat three went to Ronnie Blair.
Forty-eight of the Midwest's fastest modifieds assembled at K-C Saturday for the
Stars and Stripes 20 won by defending AMRA champion Kenny Johnson. Of the 48
cars in the field, 23 were making their first 2011 K-C appearance as cars from
four states and all parts of Ohio came to conquer the fast 3/8 mile high banks.
Eleven cars in the feature were either series champions or track champions,
further expanding the wealth of talent Johnson referred to in victory lane.
"Thank God for the highside," shouted Mr. Excitement Kenny Johnson. "It was an
all-star field tonight. Thanks for my sponsors and the high side fans. I am
dedicating this to George Branscom and the high side gang."
Johnson, who set a new track record of 15:226, said to announcer Bruce Hines,
"This race pays three times as much doesn't it?' (laughing) This is a preview
for the Dirt Track World Championship. We hope to put on a show at the DTWC as
well."
When Johnson drew the number one pill on the redraw the rest of the field knew
it would be tough. Johnson jumped out into the lead and went green to checker,
however, racing throughout the pack was torrid.
Rick Hensley, a former K-C champion, was the hard charger in a 19th to tenth
place run. Other capable hands also fought for a top ten. Rob Stambaugh, an
early contender in the race was shuffled out of the top ten, while talented
Kevin Morehouse left on lap 11 with a flat tire.
Rick Venham, Jr. and Jess Hartman challenged Johnson early with sustained
three-wide excursions. Johnson broke free leaving Venham, Hartman, and Fireball
Pinkerton to battle for second in a similar fashion. Jeremy Berwanger had his
car working well on the high side, but in the latter stages was to be denied a
top ten. Jason Brooks, who had a great night of competition, beat out two hot
shoes in Andy Bond and Matt Holcomb for a top five.
Rounding out the top ten were Kenny Johnson, Jess Hartman, Rick Venham, David
Pinkerton, Jason Brooks, Andy Bond, Matt Holcomb, Jeremy Rayburn, Tanner Wilson,
and Rick Hensley.
Bruce Gray, Jr. has had an up and down season, but Saturday he was on top of his
game and his car was just as good. Gray blasted into the early lead and never
looked back in the 20-lap Hobby Stock main, repelling the efforts of Jamey
Adams, Brandon Thompson, and a quickly ascending Tommy Mossbarger. Brandon
Mather held a top five most of the race, but lost out in a tight battle with
Thompson and Mossbarger. Richard Trego, Jim Hildebrand, and Mike Brust had their
own little battle for a solid top ten.
The finished trickled out in this order: Bruce Gray, Jr, Jamey Adams, Brandon
Thompson, Tommy Mossbarger, Brandon Mather, Richard Trego, Jim Hildebrand, Mike
Brust, Jason Holstein, and Jack Martin. Mike Brust was the hard charger in a
13th to 8th place run.
"Jamey builds a helluva car," said Gray referring to Jamey Adams. "The car
wasn't just great it was fantastic. Thanks to Dad and my Family, and I dedicate
this win to my wife Amy for her birthday. It feels really good to be back here
in victory lane."
Johnny Lawhorn made it a clean sweep in the Vintage American Race Car series (VARC)
over Chuck Faulkner, Hector Belleveau, Terry Wells, Del Leavitt, Scott Swain,
and Mike Swain.
K-C is off until the Sept. 24 Late Model "Tune Up for the DTWC". There will be
no racing Sept. 17 as the track prepares for the Sept. 24 racing. Also, on the
agenda are Advanced Services Modifieds and Hobby Stocks. K-C will run the same
three classes on Oct. 1 as they celebrate 100 years of racing in Ross County.
Then, coming Oct. 13-14-15 is the Grandest Race of them all, the Dirt Track
World Championship.

NEW USAC WEST COAST 360 TIRE RULE IN EFFECT FOR 2012
By Lance Jennings
SANTA MARIA, CA – SEPTEMBER 9, 2011... USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series
Promoter Chris Kearns has announced that the group will have a new tire rule for
the 2012 campaign. With Hoosier Tire discontinuing the RC3, a suitable
replacement was needed that would also encourage more crossover drivers and
teams between the various organizations that compete in California.
Since it’s founding in 2009, the USAC West Coast 360s have utilized the Hoosier
RC3 right rear tire. Before that, the RC3 had been used for many years by
various sanctioning bodies throughout the southwestern United States. As this
writing goes to press, the RC3 is only used by the Central California based
group. This fact prompted officials at Hoosier Tire to discontinue the line and
Kearns had to search for an alternative.
Next season, the series will change to the Hoosier Medium 105 x 16 x 15 right
rear tires. The Hoosier Medium is used by all of the ASCS winged Sprint Car
groups and the ASCS Canyon non-winged region of Arizona. As before, the VRA tire
used by the Ventura Racing Association will remain legal with the USAC West
Coast 360 Sprints.
Currently, there are several key races left in the hunt for the championship.
Visalia’s Richard VanderWeerd currently holds a fifty-three point advantage over
Ryan Bernal of Hollister. Bernal is the hottest driver on the circuit and has
won the last three main events. Richard’s twin brother Jace is third in the
point standings and has a shot at the title. “Hollywood” Danny Faria Jr. of
Tipton and San Martin’s Wes Gutierrez round out the top five in points. This
Saturday night, the USAC West Coast 360s have unfinished business at Hanford’s
“Jim Turner Memorial.”

Gary Christian Wins Second Event of 2011
Broken Bow, OK (08/09/11) - Gary Christian spent much of the Labor Day weekend
trying to outrun Mother Nature in his #33x Pannell Chipping/LCM Cedar Fiber/Mastersbilt/Pro
Power Super Late Model and the end result would be a feature win at Devil’s Bowl
Speedway.
After a one week break Gary returned to the cockpit of his #58x Mastersbilt
Super Late Model in an O'Reilly SUPR Super Late Model event on Friday night at
USA Speedway (Sterlington, Louisiana). On a one groove track, Christian would
draw a poor number, which resulted in him starting at the back of a heat race.
Early in the heat he would make contact with another car and would mysteriously
receive the black flag forcing him pitside. Due to being black-flagged in his
heat he started at the back of a b-main, but would retire early from the race
due to no passing. Full results are available at
www.DirtOnDirt.com.
After seeing the team's scheduled event at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, MS)
nixed by rain the team traveled to Devil's Bowl Speedway (Mesquite, Texas) on
Saturday night, where they entered a Weekly Racing Series Event. Gary would
start last in the second heat before charging to the heat win. An invert of four
was drawn for the feature, so he started fourth in the main event. He would
quickly work his way to the lead and never looked back as he lapped up to the
fourth place car on his way to his second win of the 2011 campaign! Full results
are available at
www.DevilsBowlSpeedway.com.
Gary plans to enter a single event for the upcoming weekend as he will make the
trip to Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) on Saturday night for a
$2,500-to-win, O’Reilly SUPR Super Late Model event. For more information,
please visit www.SUPRRacing.com .

K-C to Host Midwest All-Star Sprints for
Freedom 40
$3,000 to win , $300 to start
Chillicothe, OH- The Midwest All-Star Circuit of Champions and K-C Raceway have
teamed up for the Prestigious "Freedom 40" to honor all veterans and those who
gave their lives on 9-11. The Sept. 10 running of the event is only one day from
the anniversary of that historic day and K-C wishes to Honor those, who fought
to help others that day; and in memory of those who perished.
K-C is idle this coming Labor Day weekend,
but returns in a big way Sept. 10 for the annual "Freedom 40" for the Midwest
All-Star Circuit of Champion sprint cars. In an effort to pack the stands for
one of racing's most prestigious open wheel races, K-C promoter Jeff Schrader is
charging the standard $12 General Admission for all fans.
Said Schrader, "This is typically an $18-$20 admission to see the outlaw sprints
from the Midwest All-Stars. If you haven't seen a sprint car race, especially
some of the best in the business (including Knoxville Nationals 2010 Champ Tim
Shaffer), then this is a great opportunity. If you are a race fan, you know it
is a bargain. Sprint cars and K-C Raceway create excitement very few tracks can
make claim to."
Also on the race card are the powerful AMRA Modifieds and hard-charging K-C Hobby Stocks.
K-C has added Late Models to the October 1 racing program. This will give the late model and modified drivers their last chance to race on KC before the DTWC. There will be no BOSS sprints this night.
The Vintage American Race Cars will also be
on hand.
While plans are in the works for more Road Warrior Challenge modified races, the
races that remain currently on the AMRA National schedule are Sat. Sept 17th at
Skyline Speedway, Stewart, Ohio (Harvest 50 Weekend) and Sat. Oct 1st at K-C
Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio as a Warm-up for Dirt Track World Championship. The
Dirt Track World Championship is Oct. 13-14-15 paying $50,000 to win for Late
Models and $3,000 to win for Modifieds.

Skyline Cancels Sept. 9 Sprint Special
Heavy Rains from Tropical Storm Lee Pound Southeastern Ohio
STEWART, OHIO-Heavy rains from tropical storm Lee left much of Southern Ohio
reeling from rising water and soggy grounds. Skyline Speedway was not spared as
the heavy rains wiped out the Friday, Sept. 9 OVSCA sprint special scheduled at
the Southern Ohio bullring. An estimated 7-9 inches of rain fell in the Stewart
area.
Owner Billy Jarrell said, "We wanted to get this race in, but didn't want to do
it at the expense of tearing up the track and tearing up cars on what most
likely would be a very rough track. That is, 'if we could even get on the track
surface'. By giving the track more time, we hope to have the track in
first-class shape for our yearly headlining show--the Harvest 50."
Next on the schedule is the prestigious
Harvest 50 which returns to a one-day show on Saturday, September 17. Further
details will be released this weekend. AMRA Late Models will be the main drawing
card, while AMRA Modifieds under the Road Warrior Challenge banner, and OVSCA
410 Sprint cars will be on the race card.
The OVSCA sprint cars were to run for $3,000 to win Friday and then move on to
Ohio Valley Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 10 as part of a series double header. At
Press time, Ohio Valley was still planning on running Sept. 10 with the OVSCA
Sprints, AMRA Late Models, AMRA Modifieds, and other regularly scheduled
classes.
More information on the Harvest 50 will be posted to the track website as it
becomes available.

BECKLEY, WV-Under the leadership of a new promotion team, Beckley Motorsports
Park is planning a busy fall season. The track has reopened with new management
and racing is back underway. It's getting late in the year, but there are still
plenty of action packed races to be seen at "THE PARK", starting with the
Friday, Sept. 9 $2,000 to win AMRA Late Model special.
The event is dubbed the "Down and Dirty 30" sponsored by City National Bank. The Pro-Power Fast Time pays $100 and race teams are entered in a $300 to win contest, gaining an entry for every 5 gallons of Sunoco Race fuels purchased at the track.
Late Models race for $2000 to win along with a full night of racing for all classes! Next Friday, September 16 Beckley plans to host a $1,600 to win AMRA modified show leading into Skyline's Harvest 50 Road Warrior Race on Saturday, Sept. 17. The added event should be a great draw for the AMRA modifieds. Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing is at 7:30.
There will be a $250 give-away to some lucky fan and for every fan that opens a new account at City National, they will receive $25. Win cash and enjoy racing!
More information on the AMRA modified event will be available soon! This weekend please visit an AMRA sanctioned track of your choice.

Skyline Cancels Sept. 9 Sprint Special
Heavy Rains from Tropical Storm Lee Pound Southeastern Ohio
STEWART, OHIO-Heavy rains from tropical storm Lee left much of Southern Ohio
reeling from rising water and soggy grounds. Skyline Speedway was not spared as
the heavy rains wiped out the Friday, Sept. 9 OVSCA sprint special scheduled at
the Southern Ohio bullring. An estimated 7-9 inches of rain fell in the Stewart
area.
Owner Billy Jarrell said, "We wanted to get this race in, but didn't want to do it at the expense of tearing up the track and tearing up cars on what most likely would be a very rough track. That is, 'if we could even get on the track surface'. By giving the track more time, we hope to have the track in first-class shape for our yearly headlining show--the Harvest 50."
Next on the schedule is the prestigious Harvest 50 which returns to a one-day show on Saturday, September 17. Further details will be released this weekend. AMRA Late Models will be the main drawing card, while AMRA Modifieds under the Road Warrior Challenge banner, and OVSCA 410 Sprint cars will be on the race card.
The OVSCA sprint cars were to run for $3,000 to win Friday and then move on to Ohio Valley Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 10 as part of a series double header. At Press time, Ohio Valley was still planning on running Sept. 10 with the OVSCA Sprints, AMRA Late Models, AMRA Modifieds, and other regularly scheduled classes.
More information on the Harvest 50 will be
posted to the track website as it becomes available.

K-C to Host Midwest All-Star Sprints for Freedom 40
K-C has added Late Models to the October 1
racing program. This will give the late model and modified drivers their last
chance to race on KC before the DTWC. There will be no BOSS sprints this night.

‘Chubzilla’ Ready To Chase World 100 Glory This Weekend With Distinctive Race
Car
BEAR LAKE, PA – Sept. 7, 2011 – Chub Frank is going to turn some heads during
this weekend’s 41st annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio –
hopefully with an up-front run, and definitely with his race car.
The popular 49-year-old veteran from Bear Lake, Pa., plans to continue his
recent tradition of unveiling a fresh new color scheme on his car for the
running of dirt Late Model racing’s marquee event. This year his Corry
Rubber/Hino Toyota/Horton Equipment Rocket No. 1* will carry a bright orange hue
when he takes to the high-banked, half-mile oval in pursuit of the World 100’s
$44,000 top prize.
“It’s gonna look good,” promised Frank, who won the World 100 in 2004. “One
thing about it – you will not miss the race car on the racetrack. If you don’t
see it, there’s something wrong with you. It’s going to stand out.”
Frank’s distinctive new machine will be featured on an array of apparel for sale
throughout the World 100 weekend at the Slavic Corporation merchandise trailer
located outside turns one and two of the speedway. Orders for diecasts of
Frank’s car will also be taken.
Driving the orange mount into contention for World 100 glory will be Frank’s
goal this weekend. He’s confident in his chances at the Big E, which hosts time
trials on Friday night (Sept. 9) and heats, last-chance races and the 100-lap
feature on Saturday evening (Sept. 10).
“I’m looking forward to it,” said Frank. “It’s still Eldora – you have to be
lucky. But you also have to put yourself in position to be lucky by qualifying
well enough to get in the (heat-race) invert, and I haven’t been able to even do
that lately. We’ve done some things to the car, though, that I think will make
it better for qualifying and give us a shot.”
Frank enters the World 100 after spending the Labor Day weekend racing at Tyler
County Speedway in Middlebourne, W.Va. He began his two-night stay at the
quarter-mile oval with a disappointing DNQ outing in the UFO Series ‘West
Virginia State Championship’ event on Friday night; his night basically went
south when he pulled on the track for his heat race already one lap down because
a communication mixup with officials caused him to report late (he was parked in
a remote part of the pits and wasn’t summoned to the lineup area by an
official). ‘Chubzilla’ fared better in Saturday night’s World of Outlaws Late
Model Series ‘Black Diamond 125,’ however; he finished eighth – thanks to a
last-lap pass – in the first 40-lap Qualifying Feature to earn the race’s final
transfer spot into the ‘Sweet Sixteen’ finale, a 45-lap, $20,000-to-win shootout
in which he placed a disappointing 13th after leading laps 1-3 from the outside
pole starting spot.
“We were horrible and I pulled in,” Frank said of his performance in the ‘Sweet
Sixteen’ headliner. “We were actually horrible in the Qualifying Feature too,
but we were able to get up to eighth and make it into the big one. We made a big
change and tried something different for the last race, but it didn’t work.
“If there would’ve been a restart every three laps we would’ve been O.K., but
that wasn’t happening,” joked Frank.

Rubber, Lake Shore Paving, Hino Toyota, Sorbera Family Chiropractic, Horton

Mike Marlar Strong Performance in Rocket Debut at Black Diamond 125
Winfield, Tennessee (09/07/11) – Mike Marlar debuted his brand new #5 Bryson
Motorsports/Rocket/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model over the weekend at
the 2nd Annual Black Diamond 125, and after working out the kinks on Friday
night, he registered a solid performance on Saturday night.
Mike entered the first night of the Black Diamond 125 on Friday evening as the
UFO Super Late Model tour sanctioned the $8,000-to-win event. With 74 entries on
hand, the pill draw would be used to set the grid for heat race action, and
Marlar would unfortunately draw a large pill, resulting in him starting at the
back of his heat. After starting eighth in his heat, he advanced to a fourth
place finish, which left him short of a transfer to the feature. He would start
sixth in his b-main and advanced to a fourth place finish, but with only the top
two cars transferring to the feature, his night would come to an early end. Full
results are available at www.DirtOnDirt.com.
Saturday night found Mike back at Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, West
Virginia) for the second night of the Black Diamond 125, which saw the World of
Outlaws sanctioning the event. A talent-laden field of 87 cars entered the
event, and time trials divided the field in half for two separate programs. Mike
would set fast time in his group to earn the pole for his heat race, which he
won to lock i nto the fifth starting spot for the feature. He would go on to
battle his way to a second place finish in the $10,000-to-win, preliminary
feature behind race winner, Pat Doar.
Via his performance in the preliminary feature, Mike locked into the Sweet
Sixteen Finale, which pitted the top eight finishers from each feature in a
$20,000-to-win event. For the bonus feature, Mike would draw the sixth starting
spot, and he would once again race his way to a podium finish as he advanced to
a third place finish behind race winner, Jared Hawkins, and Dan Stone. Overall,
it was a great outing for the team, and a momentum builder for Mike is his new
#5 Bryson Motorsports/Rocket/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model. Full
results are available at www.WoOLMS.com.
This weekend, September 9th-10th, Mike will enter the 41st Annual World 100 at
Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio). The $44,000-to-win event is at the top of the
list of event's that Marlar would like to win, and his pursuit of his first
title will begin on Friday night with two rounds of qualifying. Saturday night's
program will be headlined by heat races, b-mains, and the 100 lap finale. For

Dillan White Scores Pair of Labor Day Weekend Triumphs
Crofton, Kentucky (09/06/11) - After enduring some rough luck over the past
few months Dillan White got his season back on track as he piloted his #54
DW Motorsports/Mastersbilt/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model to a
pair of feature wins.
Below is a blog-style recap of Dillan's weekend results:
September 2nd, 2011 - Dillan opened his Labor Day weekend on Friday night at
Moler Raceway Park (Wiliamsburg, Ohio) in a Weekly Racing Series Event.
Nineteen Super Late Models entered the event, and after advancing from his
sixth starting spot to a third place finish in heat race action, White would
start sixth on the grid for the feature. On the initial start he and another
car would make contact causing the caution to wave. Dillan was credited with
the caution and told to go to the tail of the field, so he decided to call
it a night. He was credited with a 17th place finish. Full results are
available at
www.MolerRacewayPark.com.
September 3rd, 2011 - After Friday night's bad luck, the team was looking to
get things pointed in the right direction on Saturday night, and they would
do it in a big way as Dillan claimed his third feature win of the 2011
season at Lawrenceburg Speedway (Lawrenceburg, Indiana). Sixteen cars
entered the program, and in heat race action White would pass three cars on
his way to a second place finish. Via his heat performance, he started
fourth in the main event before battling his way to the lead and the win.
Following him across the finish line were Robby Hensley, Tim Prince, Brian
Gray, and Tom Sheets. Full results are available at
www.LawrenceburgSpeedway.com.
September 4th, 2011 - The team was slated to enter a $3,000-to-win event at
191 Speedway (Campton, Kentucky) on Sunday night but rain forced the event
to be postponed.
September 5th, 2011 - On Monday night the team was in action at Twin Cities
Raceway Park (North Vernon, Indiana) in the annual Ted Collins Memorial.
Dillan would start the night by winning his heat race to earn the outside
front row starting spot for the $2,500-to-win main event. White would battle
with Mike Jewell for the lead for much of the event before taking possession
of the top spot late in the race as he went on to claim his second win of
the holiday weekend and fourth win of the 2011 season! Full results are
available at
www.TwinCitiesRacing.net.
White Motorsports is currently unsure of where they will be racing during
the upcoming weekend, September 9th-10th, so please keep your browsers
pointed to www.DillanWhite.com for the team's latest plans.
Dillan also has new t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and beanies. The items can be
viewed and ordered via his website at www.DillanWhite.com and can also be
purchased at the team's hauler during any upcoming event.
Dillan White and DW Motorsports are currently looking for sponsors for their
team, and have packages available for any companies’ advertising budget. For

Heading into the “Jim Turner Memorial,” eleven races have been completed on the
schedule with six different drivers claiming victory. USAC Silver Crown Champion
Bud Kaeding leads all drivers with four main event wins. Ryan Bernal has claimed
the last three features as he looks to make history at Hanford. Danny Faria Jr.,
Peter Murphy, Jace VanderWeerd, and Richard VanderWeerd have also claimed
victory.
Visalia’s Richard VanderWeerd continues to lead the way with a fifty-three point
advantage over the competition. Piloting the family owned #10 VanderWeerd
Construction / Battery Worx Maxim, Richard was fifth at Santa Maria on August
27th. To date, VanderWeerd three Sander Engineering Fast Time Awards, three heat
race victories, and leads the series with ten top-10 finishes. The battle for
the championship is heating up and Richard will be looking for the Turner

The hottest driver on the USAC West Coast 360 circuit is Ryan Bernal of
Hollister. Driving the #11D S&S Automotive / Dorso's Automotive Maxim, Bernal
tied T.J. Smith’s record of three straight wins on August 27th. To date, the
former Wingless Spec Sprint Champion has two heat race victories, eight top-10
finishes, and leads the series with 116 feature laps led. The young driver will

Bullet, Faria was second to Bernal at Santa Maria. The veteran driver has two

charging driver leads the series with four heat race victories and has eight

Simon Egan claims the victory lane honors at the Penn Can Battle of the

Photos By Mike Feltenberger

Egan Stakes His Claim at the Border
33 of the finest Slingshot drivers of all ages lined the Penn Can Speedway pit
area for the "Battle of the Border" All Star National. The Susquehanna, PA 3/8th
mile is located right along the PA / NY border and the 20 lap main served as a
points race for the National and Regional tours.
4 heats were used to get the top 24 into the field with a B Main run to slot in
the final 9 spots according to their finish. The top 3 in each heat were part of
a feature start redraw with Brett Bieber and Shannon Smith grabbing the front
row honors.
At the drop of the green Bieber took to the top spot with Smith keeping pace as
Simon Egan was becoming an early race factor and 2008 National Champion Ben
Whitaker was now putting his 00X up a lane to see if it was a quicker way around
the smooth racing surface.
A lap 3 caution found a 4 car tangle in turn 4 finding early race contender Matt
Carman taking his #7 to a rear row restart spot. One lap later another yellow was
displayed and the start of this lap was one for the ages.It was 5 wide under the
starters stand and when they exited turn 2 it was now 3 wide and the battle
between Danny Buccafusca,Mack Brink and Jake Maynard was becoming a showstopper.
These 3 ran high, wide and handsome for another lap before Buccafusca got the
advantage only to head pitside 3 laps later.
Egan set his sights on Bieber and Egan's 55 was flying on the high side of the
speedway getting by Bieber just before the pair entered turn 1.Trying to mirror
Egan's move was Whitaker, but Bieber shut the door and Whitaker had to deal with
the hot pink 23 of Shannon Smith for the third spot.
At lap 10 Whitaker never lifted heading into turn 3 and the momentum carried him
through turn 4 getting the spot from Bieber with Egan enjoying his time out
front, Carman was picking off cars 2 at a time and now was back into the top 5
with plenty of laps remaining to become a contender.
Lap 13 would see the yellow come out and a battle royale was transpiring from
6th to 10th as Joe Howey, Cody Kline ,JR Fulper, heat winner Chris Kurtz and
2010 Junior National champion Tyler Dippel would spread the frontstretch racing
surface in hopes of gaining an advantage at the payoff window.
There was racing all throughout the field and the final run to the checkered was
still seeing positions undecided as Whitaker had the power to run with the S&S
55 but not enough to make the pass for the lead.
With the checker waving it was Egan over Whitaker by 2 car lengths as Smith
locked up the final podium spot as she nipped Bieber for third. Bieber's run in
the Slinger Warehouse 17 for 4th was challenged by the other Slinger Warehouse
entry piloted by Matt Carman who made a great run from an earlier yellow.
A photo finish was needed to finalize the next 3 spots as Joe Howey ,JR Fulper
and Cody Kline were virtually under a blanket with Chris Kurtz just beating
Tyler Dippel for 9th as the Wallkill, NY racer rounded out the top 10.
As the top 10 were scored it was Robert Hocker getting a nice 11th place finish
over a last starting Gary Hieber aboard the Mike Gallagher prepared 56.Hamlin
regular Mack Brink came home 13th as Empire Region point leader Will Eastman
took the 14th place money.
Small cars on a big track doesn't sound like a recipe for excitement, but there
was not one single lap of the 20 lap Battle by the Border that didn't have
action somewhere throughout the field.
Egan's win, combined with his West End Super National earlier in the week, has
made him a driver heading up the Bilstein All Star Elite 11 National Point
Standings. The Battle by the Border was claimed by PA as the NY teams will have
to wait until 2012 to seek revenge.
S&S Speedways has signed on to be a 2012 Small Car Classic sponsor, which was
made public by Penn Can promoter Reed Miller during the pre-race drivers
meeting.
Finish:
1.Simon Egan 2. Ben Whitaker 3. Shannon Smith 4. Brett Bieber 5. Matt Carman 6.

Bloomington, Indiana (09/06/11) – Kent Robinson is the latest addition to the
MSRMafia.com Team and has launched a brand new website at
www.KentRobinsonRacing.com
.
Kent, who is 23 years old, pilots the #7r JB's Salvage/Mastersbilt/Jay Dickens
Racing Engine Super Late Model at events across the country. The 2011 season
marks his first full year of Super Late Model competition after a successful
stretch in the Open Wheel Modified division.
The Labor Day weekend was a busy team for Kent Robinson Racing, and the team
made the trek to Fairbury American Legion Speedway (Fairbury, Illinois) on
Friday night for the $5,000-to-win, Prairie Dirt Shootout to get things
underway. The $5,000-to-win event drew a field of 36 Super Late Models, and in
time trials, Robinson would record the 16th fastest time. With an invert in
effect, he would start on the pole of his heat race but would slip to a seventh
place finish, which relegated him to a b-main. In the b-main, Robinson would
battle mechanical issues, which caused him to fall short of a transfer to the
feature, bringing his night to an early end. Full results are available at
www.FairburySpeedway.com.
Despite the best efforts of track staff, rain was the winner in the
$10,000-to-win, Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway
(Fairbury, Illinois) on Saturday night. The race has been rescheduled for
Sunday, September 18th.
With a threatening weather forecast in place for Sunday night's event at Eldora
Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio), the team decided to remain in Illinois to enter the
$5,000-to-win event at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Illinois). Thirty-five
cars were on hand for the UMP-sanctioned event, Robinson qualified ninth fastest
in his group to earn the fifth starting spot for heat race action. In his heat
he advanced to a third place finish to lock into the eleventh starting spot for
the main event. Despite starting around mid-pack, he would quickly see his night
come to an end with mechanical issues. He was credited with a 20th place finish.

This weekend, September 9th-10th, the team will travel to the most prestigious
Dirt Late Model event of the year as they enter the 41st Annual World 100 at

race action as well as b-mains and the 100 lap finale will be held. For more

York’s Patrick McClane edged out Davey Nester in a photo finish for his fourth Xtreme Stock Car feature event of the season. York Haven’s Daryl Sipe captured fifth Road Warrior feature of the season. Scott Gobrecht of New Oxford won the Four Annual Four Diamonds Legends Cars Benefit Race. Stephanie Pacana held off Deanna Frye to win her first career Women on Wheels Min Van race.
The 32-lap Late Model feature event started with Carl Billet grabbing the lead from the pole position. Randy Christine Jr. took the top spot on the second circuit with Billet never losing sight of him. Throughout the middle stages of the race, Christine held off Billet as two drivers were making a strong charge to the front. Chris Knopp started eleventh and took the third place spot on lap 19 as Billet regained the lead from Christine. Justin Ehrhart started a distant 17th and also jumped into the race for the lead on lap 24 with Billet and Knopp. Using many grooves in the track, the three drivers looked for the opening to take full command of the lead. At the finish, Billet held off Knopp for the $1,000 payday. Knopp settled for second, but was extremely enthusiastic in victory lane with his runner-up finish. SSP point leader Justin Ehrhart finished third, followed by Randy Christine Jr. and Alex Updegraff. Bob Minnich, Bob Weaver and Gary Potts were heat race winners.
In the extremely long 25-lap Street Stock feature that included many unnecessary cautions, Scott Thunberg took the lead on lap 11 to claim his first win of the 2011 season. Marshall McMullen came from the seventh place starting spot to finish second, followed by Randy Zechman. Jimmy Slaseman finished fourth in the extra distance race. Mark Berzowski finished fifth. Speedway management is currently reviewing the race with its officials. Ramifications will be forthcoming in the future for drivers within the division for their on-track actions. McMullen and Jason Geesaman were heat race victors.
Davey Nester and Patrick McClane battled for the lead over the entire 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event with McClane finishing just inches ahead of Nester at the finish to claim the win. The race was tainted with the unnecessary influence of third person parties from both drivers in a post-race technical protest that did not allow speedway owner Todd Fisher to leave the speedway until after 4:00 a.m. after a very difficult week at the track. Both McClane and Nester were found in compliance of the rules when their crank shafts were weighed late in the night. Cameron Benyou finished third, followed by Kody Sites and Tim Hahn in fourth and fifth respectively. Dave Goode Sr., Benyou and Hahn won their respective heat races.
The special 20-lap Four Diamonds Benefit Race for the Legends Cars was won by Scott Gobrecht after he took the lead a little over halfway into the race. Runner-up Richard Miller led the first 12 laps but settled for second at the end of the race. Bill Diehl, whose father Jeff was instrumental in the Four Diamonds Benefit race finished a strong third. Bob Stough and Greg Burd rounded out the top five. Stough and Gobrecht won the heat races earlier in the evening.
Daryl Sipe took the lead on lap three of the Road Warriors 20 lapper to claim his fifth victory of the year over early leader Curt McDade. Christopher Holland, Jeff Svendsen and Gary Grim completed the top five respectively. Sipe and McDade each won their heat races.
Stephanie Pacana led from start-to-finish to win the special 10-lap Women on Wheels Mini Van Feature. Previous multi-winner Deanna Frye stayed within two lengths of the leader awaiting a mistake, but was unable to ever make the pass for the lead and settled in the runner-up spot. Kaitlyn Kessock finished third, followed by Sherry Kitner.
Racing action then returns to the Big Track at SSP on Saturday night, September 10 with the rescheduled Wix Filters 100 Nights of Racing and the popular Bike/Toy Giveaway. Racing action will feature the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Road Warriors and PA Sprint Car Series. It will also be the final Hometown Heroes Nights for the towns of Leesport, Pottsville, Schnecksville, East Earl and Coatesville. The start time is 6:00 p.m. for racing action on Saturday night.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south.
