ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, NY- It's "Primetime" As Scott Ferrier Cashes In With Second Accord
Speedway Victory
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
A jam-packed pit area and a tremendous crowd of great racing fans provided
another winning formula for success as the "Gem in the Catskills" Accord
Speedway presented their thirteenth racing card on Friday evening. With the
crazy weather conditions in the Northeast that have haunted all racing promoters
for much of the current racing season, the opportunity to sidestep the weather
on occasion has allowed the Palmer Family to offer more of the great racing
action that prevails at their Ulster County speedplant and the racing action on
the speedway was phenomenal as the six division show once again allowed the
cream to rise to rise the top as "Primetime" Scott Ferrier drove his
Troyer/Orange Energy sponsored hot rod to his second win of the season as he
held off a late charge from point leader Brett Hearn to nail down the victory.
Scott's Brother Ken, who saw a potential win disappear last week while leading,
left nothing to chance this week as he led all of the way to captured his first
win of the year in the Camper's Barn Sportsman headliner. "The Bushkill Bullet"
Kyle Rohner earned his sixth win of the season when he seized the point early in
the running of the Healey Brother's Group Spec Sportsman feature and held the
remainder of the field at bay as he seeks to claim his second consecutive
driving title at the speedway. Pro Stock title hopeful Pat Zimmer captured his
sixth win of the season in his drive towards the title and Ray Tarantino made a
statement by winning his fourth Arkel Motors Pure Stock Division feature to add
points to his division leading total and his hopes to become champion. In the
wild and highly entertaining Lightning Sprint feature, Scott Goodrich captured
his first win of the season at Accord that was checkered on the final lap when
the sprint daredevils executed a three car flip in heading to the start/finish
line. With the season funneling down in 2011 racing season, all of the point's
battles are still very much alive and should reach a fever pitch in the next
couple of weeks. The final weeks of the season are the steps to the title as all
of the drivers have to be at their best should they have aspirations to pick up
a title in 2011. The night of champions at the speedway is scheduled for
September 9th on Taylor Rental Night at the speedway. Friday's racing program
was sponsored by the fine folks at Kingston Nissan and former Sportsman hot shoe
Bill Haley represented the group during the great evening of racing.
The VP Fuels-Rhinebeck Ford Modified event began with Geoff Quackenbush and
Scott Ferrier pacing the field for the start. Ferrier pushed the pedal hard in
turns one and two and headed down the backstretch with control of the point.
Ferrier was in command but just as quickly a thundering herd of hot rods began
to roll into contention. "DC" Danny Creeden had a brand new chariot at his
disposal and spent the next eleven laps trying to nose under Ferrier who
repelled his advances time and time again. An eleventh lap skirmish saw a great
run by Andy Bachetti end that also claimed Dom Roselli and when the racing
resumed it was Ferrier still fending off Creeden but a host of players became
part of the mix. Jeff Heotzler, Jerry Higbie and Brett Hearn and Geoff
Quackenbush all worked their way into contention as each took a different
channel of the speedway to move their way forward.
The laps clicked off and Ferrier controlled the tempo as the hot battle behind
was became the focal point of the fans. Hearn found some magic and the 800
career win racer moved past Quackenbush while Higbie momentarily slipped by
Heotzler. Heotzler stormed back and regained the position and Higbie would fall
to Hearn a couple of laps later. Hearn continued his drive to the front by
slipping by Heotzler and then went to work on Creeden. "The Corporate Jet" found
the bottom of the raceway to his liking as he slipped past Creeden and it set-up
the final lap confrontation with Ferrier. Ferrier was calm, cool and collected
as he kept hitting his marks and would drive away from Hearn on the straights
whenever the nose of the Wentworth Construction buggy appeared. Driving towards
the checkered flag Hearn made a last ditch effort to collect win 801 but it was
Ferrier collecting his second win of the season and gaining a trip to the Lucas
Oil Products Victory Circle. Brett Hearn, Danny Creeden, Jeff Heotzler and Jerry
Higbie completed the top five while Geoff Quackenbush, Mike Sabia, Rick Mill,
driver of the week Mike Ricci and David Bush completed the top ten.
Kenny Ferrier grabbed the lead at the drop of the Camper's Barn Sportsman event
and the event appeared to be a carbon copy of last week's event as Vinny DeCicco
chased him around the quarter-mile speedplant. DeCicco stuck the nose of his
race underneath Ferrier on many times during the running of the event but
Ferrier held his ground to continue to lead the race. In the late stages of the
event Shane Jablonka made a late charge that put DeCicco on the defensive and
allowed Ferrier the opportunity a bit of breathing room as he went to claim his
first win of the season at Accord. DeCicco was the runner-up with Jablonka in
third, Chris Stevens racing hard all evening to claim fourth and Darrell Ford
rounding out the top five. Jeff Hulseapple, point leader Kevin Ward, David Coene,
Jesse Marks and Anthony Perrego completed the top ten.
Clarence Smith was the early leader of the DC Landscaping Pro Stock encounter
but spun in front of the onrushing traffic on lap five. Al Christiana inherited
the lead but would suffer mechanical woes one lap later and pull into the
infield area. Pat Zimmer would take over control of the lead and led the
remaining laps even though a determined John Roese applied plenty of Ford
powered pressure to him for the final half of the event. A great run to the
checkered flag saw Zimmer claim the win with Roese in second, steady John Rood
in third, Jim Sykes rallying back to fourth and Tom Vasta completing the top
five.
Ryan Johnson led the first half of the Arkel Motors Pure Stock division feature
event. A slip up the race course on turn four near the halfway point of the
event spelled doom for the young racer as the veteran campaigner Ray Tarantino
seized the opportunity to drive underneath Johnson as he fought to control the
race car and Tarantino became the new leader. Once in front, Tarantino was
flawless as he stormed away to his fourth win of the current season and added to
his division leading points battle. Johnson was the runner-up with Gene Helms
doing great work to claim third, Tim Brown racing to fourth and John Woinoski
completing the top five.
The Healey Brothers Group Spec Sportsman headliner had Patrick Murphy leading
the way early on with Phil Johnson and Tyler Dippel taking up the chase. Dippel
spun out a few laps into the event and once the racing went back to green it was
Rohner finding the inside seam of the raceway to his liking as he quickly gained
the advantage upfront and began to stretch the lead as soon as he seized the
point. Tommy Johnson broke free and took up the chase but it was Rohner hitting
his marks constantly as he drove to his sixth win of the 2011 racing season.
Tommy Johnson was the runner-up with Patrick Murphy in a great ride finishing up
in third place. Kyle Van Duser's late charge netted him a solid fourth place
finish and Kevin Smith continued his great work at the speedway to complete the
top five.
Scott Goodrich began the season getting upside down in a scary homestretch wreck
but stormed into the lead off the second turn of the first lap as he found the
top shelf of the speedway to be the fast way around the arena as he led the
twenty car field of winged warriors. Rich Woods, who has been subbing for Matt
Norrie, took up the chase and challenged Goodrich and Justin Phillips and Peter
Dance for conrol of the event. A fourtheenth lap crash saw Will Casazza nail the
backstretch boiler plate and before he could correct his car, his brother JD
came onto the scene and the two collided with JD going side over side in the
mishap. When the racing resumed for the green to checkered, Goodrich was in
command but Doug Norrie came a knocking. Diving to the bottom of the speedway on
turn three, he connected with Justin Phillips and the pair of wingers both
became airborne and flipped toward the Redi Rock International fencing. As the
car were still flipping Joe Szczapa came onto the scene in full head of steam
and caught the fencing to avoid the crash site and he too became upside down.
None of the drivers were injured in the mishaps. Goodrich claimed the win with
Rich Woods in second, Peter Dance in third, Joe Szczapa in fourth and Joey
Bonetti rounding out the top five.
MUDPLUGS:
Once again the speedway was in excellent racing trim from top to bottom as the
new equipment the Palmer Family purchased over the past two months has continued
to pay huge dividends for the speedway as Palmer tweaks the racing surface all
week long and the result has been a super smooth, tacky and very quick race
track with four distinct racing channels and an additional one for the very
brave who dare to brass it out on the second floor of the facility. The drivers
have constantly told Palmer just how great the surface has been and it showed up
very quickly in hot laps as Brett Hearn rolled off a couple of 12.693 per second
laps in his time on the race track. Andy Bachetti was second quick with a 12.708
clocking and Jerry Higbie was a tad behind with a 12.747 second lap. In all,
nine drivers were under the 13 second barrier and eighteen drivers were under
the 13.3 barrier.
One of the scariest crashes ever at Accord occurred during the running of the
pec Sportsman heats when in tight formation for a qualified spot Matt Hitchcock
became sideways after tapping Patrick Murphy and when he came sideways was hit
by a hard braking Lem Atkins. Hitchcock then launched into a series of five
barrel rolls that took him clean out and over the Redi Rock International first
turn barrier with the racing car landing in a heap on it's roof. The johnny on
the spot Accord Safety Crew swung into action quickly and put out the flash fire
that erupted after the race car was uprighted. Hitchcock was unhurt in the scary
turn of events but was shaken up and walked away but the race car suffered much
damage on it's quick departure from the speedway.
New drivers that made their first appearances of the season included the sharp
looking Richard Krum Modified out of the Neversink, New York area. Aaron
Williams was on board for the first time of the season in his sharp appearing
Ace Oil hot rod and Mike Deyo was back in action in his own race car for the
first time since he expired a motor early in the season. Eric Bacon and Phil
Bessette made their first appearances of the season in the Lightning Sprints and
Ed Cokely was back in action as well. Joey Bonetti changed his number back to
number 20 as the former Carey owned car found Bonetti upside down early in the
season and the team decided to make the changes when they put the race car back
together.
Heat race wins went to Vinny DeCicco, Joe Giachinta and Kenny Ferrier in the
Sportsman ranks with Tommy Johnson and Kyle Rohner claiming wins in the Spec
Sportsman. The Modifieds required three heats to set the starting field as Geoff
Quackenbush, Scott Ferrier and Danny Creeden claimed the heat race wins. Al
Christiana and Tom Vasta won the Pro Stock heats with Ryan Johnson and Ray
Tarantino grabbing up the wins in the Pure Stock encounters. JD Casazza, Scott
Goodrich adn Justin Phillips claimed the preliminary events for the Lightning
Sprints.
Erica Decker has been named the new Miss Accord Speedway for the remainder of
the season and enjoyed her first efforts in her new role at the speedway. Kevin
Berryman has a new coloring and activity book out and should interested parties
want to purchase a copy, they should check out his webiste lsited at the bottom
of this press release.
Former racer Danny Ody from:
http://www.oldspeedways.com was on hand to take in the action and to
offer up his latest DVD regarding the exciting history of the Accord Speedway
that runs from the speedway opening in 1962 through the closed years of the
speedway in the late 80's and then the grand re-opening in 1992. It is a great
80-minute look at Accord Speedway and all of the true Accord racing fans will
want to add a copy of it to their racing movies.

Kyle Ebersole Repeats With Second Straight Modified Victory at Mountain Speedway
By: Gene Ostrowski
August 13, 2011
St. Johns, PA-.Despite passing showers late in the afternoon, track workers and
plenty of racers took to the track Saturday night at Mountain Speedway in an
effort to dry the racing surface. The work was successful and the racing went
off without a hitch. Kyle Ebersole of Hummelstown, PA drove to the front and
then cruised to his second straight Modified victory. Steve Shultz of Drums
notched his fourth Street Stock feature win of the season and Cody Roth of
Kunkletown, PA steered clear of trouble to score his second FWD main event win
of the year.
Allen Creveling led the Modified field to the drop of the green flag in the
40-lap main event. Following two complete restarts without a lap scored on the
board, Todd Baer overtook Creveling. Tommy Wanick III ran third, with Barry
Callavini and Jim Bojohnny in tow.
A red flag stalled the action when Dave Schneider got into Keith Bachman in turn
one. Bachman then slid up the track and into Bojohnny, who then slammed the
retaining fence. Ken Vogel, Jr. and E.J. Heim were also collected. Even though
he took a hard hit, Bojohnny did not appear to be injured, as he climbed from
his racecar under his own power.
Green flag racing resumed and Nick Pecko cracked the top five, then got by
Creveling for fourth on lap three. Two laps later he overtook Callavini for
third and then Bobby Jones grabbed fourth.
Kyle Ebersole started in fourteenth and cracked the top five in a hurry. Pecko
overtook Wanick for the second spot on lap nine and set his sights on the
leader.
Meanwhile, Ebersole got by several drivers that were ahead of him and then
reeled in Pecko. He completed the second place pass on lap 11.
A quick caution for water on the speedway set up a lap 18 restart and Ebersole
powered his way into the lead.
Uncontested over the remaining caution-free 22 laps, Ebersole took his second
straight victory over Baer, Jones, Pecko and Brian DeFebo.
Heat race victories went to Allen Creveling, Todd Baer and Kyle Ebersole.
Jeff McGrath started from the pole position and led the opening circuit of the
25-lap Street Stock feature over Chris Burge, Mike Garris, Sr., Dale Santee and
Daryn Miller.
Garris overtook Burge for second on lap one and then began to pressure McGrath
for the lead. Meanwhile, Steve Shultz wasted no time, as he entered the top five
and then overtook Santee for third on lap two.
Garris gave McGrath a shot to get him out of shape and then drove to the bottom
of the track to take the race lead on lap five. His lead however was
short-lived, as McGrath tried the same thing in turn one on the following lap.
Garris spun and then was t-boned by Burge, who had nowhere to go. Chip Wanamaker
and Justin Mooney were also collected in the incident.
Shultz inherited the race lead with Santee in second for the restart. Robert
Fink ran third with Joe Hoffman and Miller rounding out the top five.
Shultz distanced himself from the field in the latter stages of the race and
Wanamaker mounted a charge back towards the front. Hoffman climbed to second on
lap 13, but then he was forced to surrender the position to Wanamaker on the
following circuit.
With a straightaway advantage over Wanamaker, Shultz pulled out his fourth win
of the season. Hoffman, Fink and Miller completed the top five.
Heat race victories went to Steve Shultz and Chip Wanamaker.
Jay Skupski sat on the pole for the 20-lap FWD feature and trying to get a lap
scored in the early portion of the event nearly seemed impossible. Following a
tangle with Dan Freundt and then another with Skupski and Trevor Ahouse, Eric
Banashefski held the lead.
Cody Roth quickly made his presence known and overtook Smith for second on lap
one. Justin Hughes followed through to take third.
Roth caught and passed Banashefski for the lead on lap four and the race began
to take place for second before a quick yellow slowed the field on lap 8.
Green flag racing resumed and the top five battled feverishly, but in the end it
was Roth, winning for the second time this season. Banashefski settled for
second, followed by Hughes, Freundt and Ahouse.
Heat race victories went to Eric Banashefski and Cody Roth.
News and notes: Sam Danaher lost his racecar to a fire two weeks ago. Donations
were collected from the pit area and grandstands and they were given to the
Danaher family. Street Stock competitor Robert Fink stepped in during the week
and asked Danaher if he would like to pilot Fink’s back up car and Danaher
accepted.
An even at Mountain was scheduled for Sunday, August 14. Due to threats of rain,
that show has been cut from Sunday and will be rescheduled at a later date.

position with 2009 National Slingshot Champion Cody Kline on several occasions
before Gerhart claimed the spot for good.
Hieber crossed the stripe with an advantage of three-quarters of a second over
B. Bieber, with Carman settling for third. Gerhart finished fourth in a great
run, with Kline earning fifth place money.
Hieber also picked up the Halfway Leader bonus money provided by the NAPA stores
in Kutztown and Boyertown, and he also turned the quickest lap of the night,
thereby collecting additional bonus dollars from Strapped In Racing Magazine.
Tayllor Schoenly was the Dutch Classic's Hard Charger, gaining 11 positions
during the 30-lapper and earning a cash award from Kim's Kreations.
Kim's Kreations also presented Clint Miller with a monetary award for being the
Hard Luck Driver on Wednesday.
Speedway Entertainment Contingency Prizes went to Matt Carman, Kurt Bettler, and
Danny Buccafusca.
Travis Bieber, Cody Kline, Shannon Smith, A.J. Gerhart, Bill Weaver, and Robbie
Hocker triumphed in the RPM New & Used Slinger Parts heat races. Clint Miller
took the checkered in the last chance B-Main.

BOBBY AND DANNY VARIN RACING NEWS
Sharon Springs, NY- Fonda Title On Line As Varin Racing Rolls Into Action This
Weekend
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The Varin Racing Team, headed up by Modified superstar Bobby Varin and his son
the multi-talented Danny Varin, will swing back into competition this evening at
the Glen Ridge Speedway after competing at the Fonda Speedway on Wednesday in
two headline attractions for the Modified division. Bobby is coming off a
tremendous performance last week at Glen Ridge where he scored his fourth win of
the season after taking command of the event on the twelveth lap of the thirty
lap main event. Danny Varin also enjoyed a stellar outing as he strapped into
the 10% race car and scored a fourth place finish in the same event. Bobby is a
six time Fonda Speedway Modified Champion and while still leading the point
chase at Fonda has seen the Fonda track surface go aginst him in recent outings
as his powerful Big Block machine does not hook up as well on the ultra dry
slick surfaces as the many Small Block powered cars at Fonda do. With all of the
point battles heading towards the final leg of the 2011 point season, the
competition has remained drum tight and one slip-up at this point in the chase
to the crown can spell disaster to one who has aspirations of capturing a
championship this season. Bobby holds a narrow one digit point lead heading into
the Saturday night showdown at Fonda with twin 33-lap features on the card that
will determine the 2011 Fonda track champion.
Glen Ridge action saw Bobby starting from the 12th position. Bobby was up on the
wheel early on and quickly moved into the top five by lap four. Bobby made a
couple of more strategic moved that placed him third place by the eleventh lap
and Bobby used a restart at that point to drive into the lead and take over the
point on lap twelve. Once in front, Bobby drove away from the field to capture
his fourth win of the season at Glen Ridge to lead all drivers in wins at the
speedway. Jack Brown was the runner-up with Erik Nelson in third, Danny Varin in
fourth and Don Ronca finishing in fifth place. The remainder of the top ten were
Mike Ronca, Elmo Reckner, Marc Johnson, JaMike Sowle and Lance Willix. The
current Glen Ridge Speedway seasonal point standings show Kenny Tremont still
leading with 752 points earned with Jack Brown in the runner-up role with 711
tallies. Bobby Varin has moved in right behind Brown in third place with 706
points earned. Craig Hanson is in fourth with 683 tallies. JaMike Sowle rounds
out the top five with 639 points earned. The remainder of the top ten shows Elmo
Reckner, Paul Kinney, Don Ronca, Mike Ronca and Lance Willix following in that
order.
The Fonda Speedway suffered a rain out last Saurday evening but swung back into
action with an open Modified show and the Thunder on the Thruway Series event.
Brett Hearn passed Alton Palmer late in the race to capture his 799th career win
racing and palmer came in second with Matt DeLorenzo, Ronnie Johnson and Matt
Sheppard following to complete the top five. Pat Ward, Danny Varin, AJ Romano,
Bobby Varin and Stewart Friesen completed the top ten. In the nightcap Thunder
on the Thruway series event, Hearn captured his 800th career win over Matt
DeLorenzo, Stewart Friesen, Billy Decker, Pat Ward, Ronnie Johnson, Bobby Varin,
Ryan Odasz, Timmy Fuller and Danny Varin. Bobby Varin continues to lead in the
Fonda points chase with a narrow one point margin 604 to the 603 scored thus far
by Ronnie Johnson. Ryan Odasz has jumped into third with 544 tallies and Matt
DeLorenzo is fourth with 536 points earned. Jeff Trombley rounds out the top
five with 517. Mark Kislowski is sixth with 500 tallies and Alton Palmer with
478, Jim Davis with 470, Elmo Reckner with 465 and Danny Varin with 461 complete
the top ten in points.
The Utica Rome events on Sunday evening found a slick hard to get a hold of race
track with Bobby only able to advance to ninth place when the checkered flag
fell after a 13th place start. Pat Ward captured the event with Ted Lamb in the
runner-up slot and Paul Jensen, Willy Decker, Paul Kinney, Alan Johnson, Stewart
Friesen, Ronnie Johnson, Bobby Varin and Casey Williams completing the top ten.
The current point standings at Utica Rome show Stewart Friesen leading with 692
points with Pat Ward in second place with 642 tallies. Bobby Varin is third with
608 points and Ronnie Johnson moving into fourth place with 568 points. Todd
Burley and Alan Johnson complete the top five tied with 545 tallies each. Bill
Trexler Jr, Willy Decker, Ted Lamb and Kenny Tremont complete the top ten.
Billy Decker leads the current ROC points with 443 talies with Stewart Friesen
in as the runner-up with 412 points. Jeff Strunk with 395, Danny Johnson with
393, Matt Sheppard with 345, Pat Ward with 316, Duane Howard with 288, Brett
Hearn with 266, Rick Laubach with 255 and Bobby Varin with 254 complete the top
ten in the traveling series but Varin has chose not to compete in the last three
events. Pat Ward is leading the Thunder on the Thruway Series with 236 points
with Stewart Friesen in the runner-up role with 222 points. Billy Decker with
218, Bobby Varin with 216 adn Matt DeLorenzo with 174 round out the top five.
Bobby is geared and ready to defend the Fonda track title he captured for the
sixth time in his illustrious career in 2010. Bobby will be going after his
fourth title in a row at Fonda and once again will be steering the famous 00
race cars of legendary car owner Dave Cruickshank and his Dover Brake business.
Cruickshank has two cars readied for Bobby for the 2011 season with both of the
race cars coming out of the Bicknell shops and powered by JPM motors. Son Danny
has returned to the seat of the Ed Monger owned Magsarus sponsored hot rod in
2011. Danny had a pervious stint in the race car two seasons ago. The race
machine is out of the Teo Shops and will carry a Gary Waters powerplant to
supply the power to the rear wheels. Danny raced hard all of last season and
remained in the top five in points for most of the campaign until he too was
bitten by mechanical failures that dropped him to eleventh place when the points
chase ended.
Bobby will once again be aboard the Marv Pedrick/Andy Romano owned racer for his
battles at Glen Ridge. A new race car out of the Bicknell Shops will have a
selection of Pat Morrison or Jeff Boyd powerplants to choose from for the racing
action and the car may be utilized for select additional events later in the
season. Bobby will join forces with Ken Saya and the Commercial Roofing Team for
all big shows and the ROC Dirt Series. A brand new race car was in place for the
team at Syracuse and was later utilized for the Eastern States race at Orange
County and World Finals races at Charlotte where Bobby landed a pair of sixth
place finishes on National TV. Another Bicknell car is in the stable and will
compliment the team with Morrison and Kevlar powerplants supplying the go-power.
Bobby has also enjoyed his entry into the world of sprint car racing and once
again will find the Pete Demitraszek sprinter available to him for select
excursions where Bobby can pull off double duty at the facilities. Danny Varin
tried his hand at sprint car racing last season and enjoyed his time in the seat
and he too will find some time behind the wheel of the 305 Cuomo Sprinter at
select events in the area.
Bobby has enjoyed a great career in the annals of racing. He is a past winner of
the season ending classic Eastern States event held at the Orange County Fair
Speedway having won the event in 2003 with a spectacular performance to claim
the victory, a win that remains high on the list of achievements in the
illustrious career of Bobby Varin. Bobby has also captured two New Yorker
triumphs in recent years at the Utica Rome Speedway. In 2008 Bobby won the event
in a 200 lap version and this past year won again this time leading every lap in
a shortened version 100-lap grind in the curtain closer at the speedway. Even
larger for Bobby in 2011 will be a couple of benchmarks in his racing career.
Bobby currently ranks in seventh place among the all-time features winners at
the Fonda Fairgrounds with 47 wins having surpassed the legendary Bill Wimble
this past season who owned 43 wins to his credit. Former Fonda greats Mike
Romano with 48 wins, Pete Corey with 50 wins and Kenny Shoemaker with 54 wins
are next in line and Bobby is hoping for a stellar season to slide past this
legendary trio of great competitors.
The Varin team continues to seek the same winning formula for success they
enjoyed in 2010. The car owner for the Varin Team is the legendary Dave
Cruickshank and the hard working team is headed up by Crew Chief John Bakuzonis,
and crew members Dave Cross, Jeff Preston, Tyler Preston, Jack Hanna, Bob Gray
and Garret Sagatis. With additional cars in the stable for Varin with the
Commercial Roofing entry and the Romano/Pedrick machine, the 2011 season ahead
will be full of racing excitement from beginning to end.
The Varin Family credits much of their success to their fine group of sponsors
who continue to support their racing efforts. Dover Brake, Joe Bertothy Racing,
JSB Fabrications, Countryman CARQUEST, Land Designs, Supply Wagon Rentals,
Corigliano Towing, Leslie Home Improvement, GA Motorsports Media and Boys Club
of America have all been solid in their support of the Varin racing efforts and
encourage the racing community to support all of these fine sponsors whenever
they have the capacity to do so. The Varin Team also welcomes new sponsor Jeff
Bristol Trucking to the fine list of sponsors for the team. Bobby and Danny
Varin would like to thank their their loyal fan base for the strong support in
the past and look for continued support into the 2011 racing season and beyond.
More updates will follow shortly for the Varin Racing team efforts. Follow the
success of the 00 and 93 Varin Racing Team at their respective websites with all

NEWS FROM JERRY HIGBIE RACING
GOSHEN, NY-- "The Statesman" Jerry Higbie Returns To Action This Evening At
Accord Speedway
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Modified superstar Jerry Higbie and the Higbie Racing Team is prepped and ready
for the upcoming weekend of racing activity with the Accord and Orange County
Fair Speedways both scheduled for full racing cards. "The Statesman" comes into
the weekend of racing events sitting in the runner-up slot at both of his
regular weekend haunts and will need to have great runs the remainder of the
season at Accord in order to track down current point leader Brett Hearn who
will be coming into tonights racing action riding on the coat tails of two
straight wins garnered on Wednesday evening at the Fonda Fairgrounds. Over at
the Orange County Fair Speedway, Jerry is sitting just twelve points behind
current point leader Tommy Meier as that speedway swings back into action on
Saturday evening. Jerry has found in being champion also makes him the marked
man at his speedways of choice as every top campaigner will be looking to unseat
him from the lofty perch he has enjoyed the past couple of seasons at both of
his weekly haunts.
Jerry enjoyed a stellar performance last Friday evening at Accord where he raced
through the field to score a fourth place finish in the thirty lap Modified
main. The switch from Big Block to Small Block power at Accord in recent weeks
has Jerry back in the thick of things at the speedway as he was able to steer
his Higbie Racing Team hot rod from the top to bottom of the race to the walls
facility as he sliced his way into contention during the encounter. "The Razor"
Mike Ruggiero captured the win with "Showtime" Danny Tyler in for a close second
place finish. "The Wild Child" Andy Bachetti used all of the speedway real
estate to come on strong at the end of the event to slip by Jerry in the closing
laps to record a third place finish with Jerry finishing fourth and Brett Hearn
completing the top five.
The updated points at Accord continue to show Brett Hearn as the point leader
with 610 points. Jerry Higbie is the runner-up with 572 tallies. Danny Creeden
is third in the point standings with 518 points and right behind him is hard
driving Mike Ricci who has scored 513 points. Danny Tyler continues his charge
to the front at Accord and completes the top five with 512 points. Jeff Heotzler
heads up the second five with 475 points and Andy Bachetti is seventh with 471
tallies. Richie Eurich is eighth with 433 points, Michael Storms is ninth with
416 points and Robby Green completes the top ten with 390 points.
The updated points picture for the 2011 OCFS driving title now show Tommy Meier
out front with 608 tallies. Jerry Higbie is in the runner-up position just
twelve points behind with 596 markers and Jack Brown is third with 534 tallies.
Craig Mitchell is fourth with 511 points and Steve Dodd and Chris Whitehead are
tied for fifth place with 488 points each. Bob McGannon is seventh with 485
points and Richie Eurich follows with 481 tallies to his credit. Donnie Wilson
and Mike Ruggiero complete the top ten and tied at 457 points each.
With a whirlwind of activity at the Higbie Race Shops, Jerry continues on with a
decisive plan with his approach to the 2011 racing season. As previously noted,
Jerry is racing at OCFS in a recently spawned chassis of Higbie design for
competition at the hard clay oval. For competition at the Accord Speedway, Jerry
will be utilizing a 2009 Bicknell chassis and there will be a third car in the
works for competition out at some of the select open shows throughout the
Northeast. Power for the race cars will come from the well-noted Precision
Engine Shops with small block power for the Accord facility and big block power
for work at the OCFS facility.
The Higbie Family owned signature numbered 97 cars are a welcome addition to
their regular speedways having been missing in action at the speedways for the
past couple of seasons. The large and loyal contingent of Higbie racing fans are
delighted to see the famous and popular race cars working the racing surface
hard in quest of more victories and more championships. Long-time Higbie
sponsors Shaver Construction, Beaverkill Trout Hatchery, Mr K's Carpet Service,
Hutchings Insurance, Behrent's Speed Center, SKJ Towing, Bada Bing Pizza and GA
Motorsports Media will all be assisting the Higbie Racing Team efforts.
Higbie's business, Hig-Fab, has been super busy throughout the off-season but is
currently making appointments for race cars to be refurbished for the season as
the 2011 racing season. With sponsorship dollars dwindling, many of the racers
are seeking to stay within the restraints of their tightening racing budgets so
many of the racers have opted to retain their current equipment and have the
experts with the Hig-Fab Team perform their magic to update the race cars. The
Hig-Fab shop is ready, willing and able to serve your racing needs whether it be
an entire new body or just new body pieces. The Hig-Fab shop can do frame
repairs or front and rear clips and can supply new bumpers for any Chassis car
racing on the circuit, including Slingshots and Micro Sprints. Scaling of the
race cars and Performance shock work is all done in-house. For more information
regarding the services and capabilities of the highly trained Hig-Fab Staff,
please contact the shop at: 845 294 0898. Don't wait to have your race car
updated or re-skinned for the next racing season, the time to prepare for the
new season is now. Hit the tracks running as the experts at Hig-Fab can
eliminate your worries for a great looking and great handling race car.

quick closure after the heat races were run off as a quick moving rainstorm
rolled through the area and brought a sudden halt to the Midweek Madness racing
action at the speedway. The Accord Speedway was once again in pristine racing
condition as the silky smooth quarter miler was once again in top form under the
watchful eye of promoter Gary Palmer for as even though a tremendous amount of
rain fell in the immediate area, the speedway was in tip top condition and the
competitors took full advantage of the great race track under them as they
reeled off the heat events in record time. The rainstorm hit the speedway
quickly and the event was called as the heavy rain intensified. With a short
window to run off the scheduled events, the heat racing action will serve as the
complete show at the speedway and the heat finishes ruled as the feature
finishes for the point races at Accord. The Midweek Madness shows will continue
every Wednesday evening and run until August 31st. The event sets the stage for
the upcoming Friday night action as the Palmer Family presents a six division
show headed up by the VP Fuels/Rhinebeck Ford Modified Division going to war for
the $2,000.00 payday on the line for the victor. The evening of events will also
see the return of the thrill a second Lightning Sprints division as part of the
evening of activities sponsored by Kingston Nissan at the speedway. With the
point races heating up, the action on the speedway will bring out the best of
the best as each driver tries to find the quick way around one of the most
exciting race tracks in the Northeast.
The exciting action was in abundance throughout the rain-limited racing card for
each division. The feature events began with Kenny Phillips winning in the 0-50
Quad event over Trevor Tufano. The 51-90 Quad feature was once again "The Little
Torch" Melissa Torchio show as she captured her eighth straight win in eights
weeks of racing over newcomers Keaton Freer and Lucas Roth. Freer led to the
midway point when Torchio rolled up a full head of steam to make the winning
pass at the end of the homestretch and proceed onward to victory.
Friday night racer Lenny Helmich captured the Kart racing action with Ray
Hulseapple and newcomer Amanda Hulseapple following. Blake Hulseapple scored
another win the Kids Kart division. Richard Jarvis captured the Quad feature run
with another Friday night racer "Dynamite" Danny Cross a close second and Robert
Greweski in third place.

for the great field of driving stars who made the trip in to compete. "The
Gunslinger" Jesse Leiby won the first event with Jimmy Babb in the runner-up
slot and Shaina Barker and Greg Hart following and then Tyler Treacy showing the
hot hand in the second one as he won over Joe Krum, John Lieto and newcomer
Trevor Labagh.
Rookie Slingshot action found Matthew Shultz finding the top shelf of the
speedway to his liking as he won over Carly Velez and Carly Dippel and then it
was Carly Velez finding the needed landscape to find her way into the winner's
circle with Carly Dippel and Matthew Shultz following.
"Kid Ice" Cole Hentschel found the fast way around the speedway as he captured
the first event for the Juniors over Chris Kurtz, Jared Labagh, Leo Fotopolous
and Jimmy Leiby and the second was captured by Tommy Zwart over Michelle
Campbell, Tyler Johnston, Bobby Flood, and Brandon McGill. The next series found
Cole Hentschel back in the winners circle with Chris Kurtz again in the
runner-up role with Leo Fotopolous, and Jimmy Leiby following. Michelle Campbell
was back in the winner's circle in the second one as she captured the win over
Tommy Zwart, Tyler Johnston, Brandon McGill and Bobby Flood. Thirteen Juniors
made it out to the speedway for some great racing action from the stars of
tomorrow.
Junior Four Cylinder excitement found John "Little" Davis winning the feature
over yet another newcomer in Dan Sanchez with Joseph Smith in third place and
another newcomer Kaci Stackhouse in fourth. Dan Sanchez captured the Dual
Overhead Cam division. Robert Beach returned to the speedway and won the Seniors
events with current point leader Walt Henry in second, Dan Sanchez in third,
Sarah Bohlin in fourth and another newcomer Charles hummel Jr in the fifth slot.
Hometown ace Gary Palmer Jr captured the win in the 600 Micro feature event with
Stony Point, New York wheelman Steve Reynolds finishing in the runner-up role
win at the speedway and the finish makes two runner-up finishes in a row in
recent weeks for Reynolds as the 13 year old teenager is starting to find the
groove in the 600's after a solid career in go kart competition. Palmer, in only
his third outing of the season, was wheeling the Felix Burandez AutoSports
"Tequila Shot" hot rod in the spirited battle.
Midweek Madness will continue from August 17th until August 31st every Wednesday
evening. Gates open at the speedway at 5 PM with Hot Laps scheduled for 6:45.
Racing is to start at 7:15 PM. Admission for the Wednesday shows is just $5.00
and the great concession stand is open throughout the racing card.
Friday night racing at Accord runs from April through September with six great
divisions going to war on the Accord high banks. This week, Kingston Nissan will
serve as the headline sponsor for the evening of events and will feature the six
regular divisions at the speedway with the return of the thrill a second
Lightning Sprints division. Admission for the great racing action remains the
same from a season ago as Adults (12+) will be $12.00; Children (11 and under)
will be $3.00. The Family Value Pack that was met with much success last season
is once again offered and is: 2 Adults, 2 Children, and $20.00 in food vouchers
for $40.00, a savings of $10.00 to the consumer. Pit Gates open at the speedway
at 4:30 and Spectator Gates open at 5. Hot laps kick off at 6:30 and the racing
is slated to start at 7 PM.
Racing fans should begin to make plans for the exciting King of the Catskills
two day weekend of great racing on September 23rd and 24th. With eight diverse
divisions of racing on the schedule, every true racing fan will want to make
sure they are in attendance to take in every second of the great competition
that will unfold. The ROC Modified Tour heads up the Friday evening of action
September 23rd with a large $7,000.00 payday awaiting the winner of the 100-lap
headliner with the Sportsman and Lightning Sprints also on the schedule.
September 24th finds the Spec Sportsman going to war for a $3,500.00 payout with
the CRSA Sprint Cars, Pro Stock, Pure Stock and the Junior Slingshot National
Tour event also on the card that will determine the National Champion.

R & R MOTORSPORTS RACING NEWS
New Glarus, Wisconsin: "Showtime" Zack Riddle Scores Second Win In A Row and
Goes For Three-Peat On Friday At MIS
By Steve Pados, R&R Motorsports Racing Media
"Showtime" Zack Riddle scored his second consecutive win on Friday evening at
the always tough Madison International Speedway as he was in heated battle with
Scott Broughton for much of the forty lap feature attraction at the speedway and
then took control of the event on the final restart at 37-laps to drive on and
capture the win to double up his win total in 2011. Riddle has been one of the
steady young performers at the Wisconsin based speedway and the win catapulted
him into second place in the season long heated points battle at the speedway.
The R&R Motorsports Team with Riddle at the controls has been knocking on the
victory lane door for much of the season and the two straight wins lend much
credence to the newly formed for the 2011 racing season as the R&R Motorsports
Team is a progressive continuation of the successful Urban Force Racing program
that was launched in 2007 to give students a chance to learn about the working
facets of race cars while being educated to become automotive technicians
through their school curriculum.
Riddle was the fastest qualifier of the evening when the Late Model Division
took to the speedway with a clocking of 19.053 seconds. Riddle followed up with
a second place run in his heat event and would start mi-pack when the feature
was assembled at the starting grid. Biding his time early on in the event,
Riddle made steady gains through the pack as he kept sight of the early leader
Scott Broughton who at times had as much as an eight car lengths lead on the
field. Riddle saw the top five by lap-23 and continued his drive forward until
he gained the lead on lap-26 and then traded back and forth with Broughton lap
after lap to bring the fans on their feet as they cheered their racing heroes
towards a victory. Broughton took over control of the event on lap-33 but Riddle
was far from throwing in the towel as utilized a restart on lap-37 to take over
control of the event and then raced away on his great drive to his second win of
the season at MIS. Bobby Wilberg also got around Broughton in the final restart
to finish in the runner-up role with Scott Broughton doing a great job to finish
in third place. Dale Nottestad was fourth in the final rundown and defending
track champion Jeremy Miller completed the top five.
The points shuffled a bit from last week's racing action but track champion
Jeremy Miller once again heads up the points is out front at mid-season with 762
points earned. Zack Riddle has moved into the runner-up slot with his latest win
and has scored 712 point to date to trail Miller. Scott Broughton has dropped a
notch to third with 708 markers and Bobby Wilberg has rallied into fourth place
with 695 tallies to date. Dale Nottestad rounds out the top five with 684 points
earned. Ryan Goldade with 543 points to his credit heads up the second five with
Ty Majeski with 519, Kevin Knuese with 508, Chad Stevens with 451 and Nathan
Oppliger with 439 points rounding out the top ten in a very tight points race in
2011 racing season thus far at Madison.
The pairing of Riddle with Urban Force Racing in 2010 brought a great deal of
success to everyone in their initial season of competing together as a team and
the instant chemistry and friendship shared by everyone involved with the team
has put the newly developed R&R Motorsports Team front and center with the
student manned racing team. The plan remains for the team to go after two series
titles in 2011 with the Madison International Speedway Late Model Title and the
Big 8 Series Title the goals the team will be seeking to claim at the end of the
season. The initial season of the successful pairing in 2010 had Riddle
finishing third in the final points tally for the season at the Madison
International Speedway and just 21 points shy of the point title captured by
Jeremy Miller, who defeated Bobby Wilberg by a single digit to claim the
speedway title. The finish made it two times in succession that Zack wound up
third in the final tallies, but his consistent runs in 2010 and gave Zack an
outside chance for the title on the final night of competition at the speedway.
In limited appearances in Big 8 Series competition, Zack finished a respectable
12th place in the final standings but will be looking to compete in all events
in the upcoming 2011 racing season.
Zack Riddle has raised the bar in his career each step of the way as he began
his racing career in 2000 at the age of ten in the go kart divisions and raced
with them successfully until the end of the 2003 racing season. In 2004, Riddle
took his first ride in a Late Model type race car and ran an aborted season,
competing in just six events at the Madison International Speedway. Riddle began
to run the Late Model division as a regular in 2005 and has been a fixture at
the speedway ever since, winning his first feature at MIS in 2006. When the
Madison track ran Super Late Models in 2008, Riddle was selected as the Rookie
of the Year in the now defunct division. Riddle was also named the fan's
favorite driver in 2009, a title he also captured in 2006 and adding to his
"Showtime" nickname.
While Urban Force Racing now makes the transition to R&R Motorsports Team, the
group enjoyed a great history in motorsports since launching the initial program
in 2007 and has sought to improve upon their marks each succeeding year in
racing. Team Manager Pete Raskovic moves into a new role as co-owner of the race
team along with Crew Chief Steve Riddle. Raskovic who with the late ABC Supply
owner Ken Hendricks was able to forge ahead with the launching of the initial
program, has been the mainstay of the student oriented racing team is quite
proud of the success of the many students who have been educated within the
Urban Force Racing Team program.
The unique concept of teaching students the inner workings of a race car along
with all of the technical background in automotive technology, sets the Urban
Force program apart from the typical normal school day. The students are hands
on and work with a purpose as the program is the model for similar technical
programs across the country. The new student team for the 2011 racing season
consists Michael Raskovic, Jesse Tanner and Bryant Williams and the students
will be paired with the existing R&R/Urban Force Team members that include Team
Manager Pete Raskovic, Crew Chief Steve Riddle, Wes Arndt, Brett Guschinki,
County Judge James Beer. Sponsorship for the new R&R Motorsports Team is
provided by Diane Hendricks at ABC Supply Co. Additional sponsorship support
comes from Homberg Inc., Morgan Shoes, Keystone Farms Natural Cheese, Welders
Supply Company, GA Motorsports Media and CARQUEST Gasoline Alley, Vince's
Italian Restaurante, Big Radio WEKZ, Monroe WI.

CARQUEST GASOLINE ALLEY NEWS
Allentown, PA: CARQUEST Gasoline Alley Is Huge Supporter Of Reading Nostalgia
Nationals Event By:Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
The extremely popular and nationally acclaimed CARQUEST Gasoline Alley
TV/Internet Show once again came up big showed their support of the Reading
Fairgrounds Racing Historical Society events at the New Reading Fairgrounds last
Sunday and Monday as they took their award winning show to the racing grounds
and taped two shows to add to the diversity of what the Gasoline Alley Gang has
brought to the airwaves since they debuted their show concept to the public for
the first time back on April 16th of 2002. The first of the shows has already
aired on Monday evening, August 5th as the Gang talked to the many star
performers who were in competition at the two day, two division Slingshot show
hosted by the Reading Fairgrounds Racing Historical Society. Thirty-Four
interviews were conducted during the show that began in the morning hours and
went on into the afternoon hot lap sessions at the speedway. Many of the
youngsters in competition were giving their first ever interviews of any kind
and it has always been the goal of the Pados Brothers to continuously promote
racing and the drivers who make up the vast world of motorsports most
significantly in the short track portion of the sport. The Gasoline Alley Show
has been a long supporter of the racing at Reading and the Reading Fairgrounds
Racing Historical Society and are always honored to do their part in assisting
with the promotion at Reading and the events the RFRHS does throughout the year.
Throughout the 2011 racing season the number of Slingshot drivers interviewed on
the show is well over one hundred and counting as the Pados Brothers have
touched touched all 48 states, Australia, New Zealand and Canada in crossing the
boundaries of bridging the racing communities together with their great racing
show.
Not only did the Gasoline Alley Gang Gang tape two shows at the Fairgrounds,
they also carried with them a fistful of dollars totaling $950.00 to be included
into the purse structure of both events at the speedway. The CARQUEST Gasoline
Alley TV/Internet Show and many of the sponsors who have supported the Pados
Brothers popular racing show for the past nine years have always come up big in
their support of racing and although the early press releases from the ignorant,
disrespectful and totally unprofessional Speedway Entertainment media group had
only indicated a few sponsors they had on board for the event, the RFRHS and the
CARQUEST Gasoline Alley Gang have been a great team in adding the needed bucks
to the always popular two day event with the help of the many sponsors who
support their work. The Gasoline Alley Gang thanks all of the great fan support
who were in attendance at the events and to the many of those fans who read the
glowing indiscrepensies from the lopsided press releases of the Speedway
Entertainment people and sent in their well wishes praising the popular show for
their ongoing support of what they do for the racing community. The glowing
speculation that something is very amiss within the Speedway Entertainment group
is very evident in whatever racing venue one attends as they have continuously
altered many of the Press Releases sent to them for print or fail to recognize
many of the speedways that support them and show total disrespect for many of
the drivers on the racing circuit today. In the future it is hoped by most that
Rich Tobias will take a long hard look at the ongoing problems one person within
his organization has caused to the racers, the speedways and racing
organizations in the Slingshot divisions.
The Gang through the solid efforts of show co-host Ed Pados put together a solid
network of sponsors who lent their assistance to this annual event.
Ackermanville Auto Clinic, A.R.M. Automotive, Gardner Auto Service/Gary Gardner,
Huston's Automotive/Danny Huston, Lane's Auto Repair, Lou's Texaco/Lou Horvath,
Mammana's Automotive/Pat & Mike Mammana, Mark Gray Automotive/Mark and Pat Gray,
Martocci Automotive/Tommy Martocci, Tony's Auto Repair, Bok Engine Service/Randy
Bok, Murante Auto Repair, Gary and Donna Palmer at Accord Speedway, Carl's Auto
Repair, Dotta Chrysler and Jeep, Blue Mountain Service Center/Leroy Amey, Reagle
Dodge/Bruce Ott, Pauls Auto Body/Paul Fuchs, Bob's Towing, GA Motorsports Media
and CARQUEST Gasoline Alley provided their full support to the RFRHS for the
event.
The popular racing show airs from 6 to 8 PM every Monday evening on channels 103
and 137 and worldwide on the Internet. The Gang has been serving the racing
world for the past nine years on the airwaves and is well noted for their well
noted "theme" show format and will host the 535th edition of their show since
they hit the airwaves and their 324th show since joining forces with the party
channel at WALN Digital Cable and "Happy Jack" Burns on Channels 103 and 137.
The Gasoline Alley Team of Ed and Steve Pados looks forward to more of the same
great format they have been following since the inception of their hit show back
in 2002 as they highlight the past, present and future of auto racing with their
great show.
The popular award winning TV/Internet show offers a live internet video feed to
all of the Internet subscribers to view the wide assortment of the many racing
videos that are played while the show is in progress and to enjoy the chat
sessions with the many great personalities from within the racing community who
pay the Gang a visit to discuss racing. As always, a surprise or two will be
expected as the Gasoline Alley Gang continues to bring the racing community the
fastest, funniest and most informed racing show on the airwaves today. All shows
produced by GA Motorsports Media are carefully researched, authenticated and
fully scripted to produce for our loyal sponsors, guests and racing fans the
best show on the airwaves today.
CARQUEST Gasoline Alley TV/Radio/Internet Show continues with its outstanding
line-up of talented guests with this week's edition of the show. The Show's
programming is available on WALN Digital Cable Radio, Internet
www.walncableradio.com for the
Audio portion and: livestream.com/walncableradio/old for the video portion. The
Show is available on Service Electric Digital Cable TV, Channels 103, and 137
and is live from 6 to 8 PM and later tape delayed on Channel 50 at 11 PM.
Join the Gasoline Alley broadcasting team of Ed and Steve Pados on Monday
evening August 15th as they take you on a two-hour circular journey with their
well documented, very informative and extremely funny show.

RACING NEWS THE WAY IT IS MEANT TO BE
|
Aug. 11, 2011
Grasso is known for his flat out driving style and he always shows his best at the New Egypt Speedway, a track that he has dominated for several years. Grasso, will strap into the 410 sprint car owned by John Pinter and sponsored by The Audi Shop. CnB Mushrooms Chubby Ciarrocchi was instrumental in pulling together all the players to make this Pinter/Grasso merger happen. Pinter, a successful former modified driver himself, will also field his primary 410 sprint car that is driven weekly by Central Pennsylvania "hot shoe" Kevin Nouse.
Grasso was the 2009 URC Champion and is URC's current point leader with three wins this season and nineteen career URC triumphs. It's a great opportunity for Grasso to compete at his favorite track and there is no doubt that he'll be racing against some of the best drivers in the business of 410 sprint car racing. As for this big opportunity, Grasso is excited, Pinter is confident and Chubby just can't wait for August 30 and the "JERSEY RUSH".
Competition will be keen with nationally known drivers like Fast Freddie Rahmer of Salfordsville, PA, Tyler Walker of Los Angeles, CA a former 410 sprint car feature winner at New Egypt, Justin Henderson of Sioux Falls, SD, Greg Hodnett of Memphis, TN, Daryn Pittman of Owasso, OK, Lance Dewease of Fayetteville, PA, Davey Sammons of Bordentown, NJ, Mark Smith, Chad Layton, Frank Cozze, Kevin Nouse, Dave Ely and URC's seven time champion Curt Michael are just a few of the early pre-entries.
The 410 sprints are without a doubt the fastest race cars on dirt, with 900 horsepower and a weight of just 1,400 pounds, these cars will fly around the always exciting 7/16 mile "D" shaped speedway at speeds topping 120mph. Just imagine, twenty-four 410 sprint cars starting two abreast and taking the green flag as they race into that first turn! You'll first hear the roar, then feel the rumble when this race begins.
The sprints will compete in time trials, heat race events and a "B" Main (consolation) all leading up to the JERSEY RUSH, a 30 lap feature paying $5,000 to the winner.
There is still more to this show.
Also on the program will be the Big Block Modifieds, the traditional weekly star-filled division at New Egypt Speedway. Billy Pauch, Rick Laubach, Willie Osmun, Jimmy Horton, David VanHorn, Richie Pratt, Wade Hendrickson and a host of other modified stars will be on hand to chase the $3,000 first place prize to win the 30 lap modified feature. Heats and a consolation will determine the twenty-four car starting field. Between the 410 Sprints and Big Block Modifieds, one can expect "Double Trouble" in the twin 30 lap feature events.

ANY MODIFIED CAN RUN ON AUGUST 28TH!!!
That's right, N.E. Modified Series promoter, Mike Odwazny, has announced that
ANY Modified can now run the N.E. Modified Series event at Mountain Speedway on
August 28th. ROC and Tour Type Modifieds can now compete in the inaugural N.E.
Modified Series event, against the finest Sport Modified drivers in the
northeast. This is the first time that anyone has attempted to blend both the
Tour type Modifieds, and Sport modifieds on common ground.
In an effort to level the playing field, the ROC/Tour Type Modifieds, or any dry sump Modified, must weigh 2700 lbs. before time trials and the feature. Additionally, they will be required to run a track issued restrictor plate under either the Holley 650 cfm (steel head), or the Holley 390 cfm (aluminum head) 4-barrel carburetor, to bring horsepower levels in line with the two barrel wet sump Sport Modifieds. All cars will be required to run a maximum 13 inch wide wheel, along with the Hoosier 1070 right side, and 1055 or 1070 left side tire. One change tire will be permitted during the 75 lap event.
This concept of blending all types of Modifieds together has certainly created a buzz amongst fans of Modified racing, and with the economy tightening the budgets of all race teams, it could help get more cars back on track.
For complete rules, purse, and more info visit www.nemodified.com or call Mike Odwazny at (570)807-7168. For directions or hotel info, be sure to visit www.mountainspeedway.com.
randstand admission for the afternoon is at the bargain price of just $10 for adults, with children 10 and under admitted FREE. Pit pass for the afternoon will be $35, and a $50 race entry can be paid at the track on race day.
The Brad Kline Memorial Street Stock Open 50 lap event, along with the INEX Legends will also be on the race card for the afternoon.

Universe Racing and FireHouse Announce
Charity eBay Auction for Autographed “Race Used” Hood
Berwick, PA (August 10, 2011)- Universe Racing and multi platinum recording
artists, FireHouse, are proud to announce a charity eBay auction (Item #
120762292295) for autographed “race used” racecar sheet metal from Universe
Racing driver, Steve Fox in the ARCA Racing Series, presented by Menards.
However, this isn’t just sheet metal, as the cause that it supports is huge for
both the race team and also for the band, FireHouse.
The auction itself is simple, and all of the proceeds will be donated to Alex’s
Lemonade Stand. Founded by the late Alexandria “Alex” Scott, who passed away
from cancer at the age of 8, the charity was designed to help find a cure for
children who suffer from cancer.
Up for action isn’t just a piece of racecar sheet metal, as it is the entire
hood of the Universe Racing Dodge Charger in which Fox competed with last season
in the ARCA Racing Series. The entire hood is wrapped with a photo of FireHouse
band members, CJ Snare, Bill Leverty, Michael Foster and Allen McKenzie. The
hood was recently autographed by the band at a concert in Clearfield, PA, along
with race team members, including Fox.
The piece even has a little character, as it received minor damage from a crash
in the closing laps during its last ride at Pocono International raceway in
August of last season.
Rare and interesting, the hood will look great hanging from the wall or ceiling
in any type of sports or music related establishment, garage or even a FireHouse
or Universe Racing fans living room. The best part is that the cause that the
auction supports will be the benefactor.
“We teamed up with Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the beginning of last season”, noted
Fox. “Alex herself must have been truly awesome to start what she did, not only
at such a young age, but also while being sick with cancer”, he noted.
He continued, “If this auction helps even one child with this horrible disease,
I know that I’d be very happy and I’m sure that the guys from FireHouse feel the
same way. The whole deal is pretty neat, but knowing that it’s going to a such a
great cause makes it truly rewarding”.
The members of FireHouse have the same feeling as Fox does in regards to the
charity auction and it showed through their fans, both at the concert in
Clearfield, PA and also on their Facebook page.
The auction has begun and it will run for ten days. There aren’t any hidden
fees, such as handling or even shipping. Matter of fact, Fox is going to pay for
the shipping of the hood to any address in the continental U.S. Unfortunately,
due to the size, the hood cannot be shipped outside of the continental U.S. The
eBay item number is 120762292295.

Jake Griffin Takes Over ULMA Late Model Series Point's Lead
Quincy, Illinois (08/10/11) – On the heels of four wins in the ULMA Late Model
Series and several top five finishes, 12 year-old, Jake Griffin has taken over
the top spot in the tour standings.
When the latest edition of the ULMA points were released last week, history was
made as Jake Griffin was shown as the point's leader, which marked the youngest
driver to ever lead the standings. He currently leads the latest points over
Jason Bodenhammer, Steve Clancy, Tommy Cordray, and Brett Wood. Griffin also
continues to lead the ULMA Late Model track points at Callaway Raceway (Fulton,
Missouri) and Scotland County Speedway (Memphis, Missouri)
Most people would think that the youngster would feel a great deal of pressure
to contend for a national championship and to have a chance to be the youngest
driver to ever win a Late Model national championship, but Jake comments, "There
is really no pressure on me. I mean I'm just 12 years old so people don't expect
much out of me. However, I guess it's more pressure on my competitors because
they've been racing longer than I have and everybody expects them to beat me, so
I think they (other drivers) feel a lot more pressure than I do."
Last weekend the team entered a pair of shows. Saturday night found the team at
Scotland County Speedway (Memphis, Missouri) for a night of doubleheader racing
action between the ULMA Late Model Series and the UMP Open Wheel Modified
division. It would be another great point's night for Jake in the ULMA Late
Model division as he powered his #08 Bob Pierce Chassis to a third place finish
in the feature. However his luck in the UMP Open Wheel Modified division would
not be as good as a leaking head gasket would bring his night to an end before
the green flag ever dropped on the feature. For full results please visit
www.ScotlandCountySpeedway.com.
The upcoming weekend, August 11th-13th, will see the team return to Callaway
Raceway on Friday night before traveling to Scotland County Speedway on Saturday
night, and then closing out the weekend on Sunday night at Quincy Raceway. For
more information on the events, please visit

Jason was last in action two weeks ago as he took part in the opener for the
$20,000-to-win, World Modified Dirt Track Championship on Wednesday night, July
27th at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota). In time trials, he was
13th fastest in the 53 car field to earn the fourth starting spot for his heat
race. He would go on to pass one car on his way to a third place finish, which
earned him the 14th starting spot for the main event. During the course of the
feature he passed seven cars to finish in the seventh position. Hughes will next
be in action on Saturday night in the final leg of the event.
The team entered the final night of the inaugural World Modified Dirt Track
Championship on Saturday night, July 30th at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley,
Minnesota). Via Wednesday night's performance, Jason started 8th in the b-main.
However, a flat tire on the first lap of the 25 lap event would force him
pitside for fresh rubber. He would be able to rejoin the tail of the field, and
went on to recover to a 12th place finish to earn the final transfer spot to the
feature.
After starting 30th on the grid for the 50 lap feature, Hughes would pass 22
cars in the first 39 laps of the event to work his way up to the eighth spot.
However, lap 40 would see a flat tire plague Hughes once again as he would be
relegated pitside to a 20th place finish. Full results are available at

Glass Wins Reading Thriller
With the names of Brightbill,Chamberlain,Tobias,Adam and Tasnady, being forever
etched into the memory banks of the older Reading Fairgrounds fans,a new name
was added to the famed winners list,Michael Glass.
In front of an estimated 2200 race fans,35 of the top Slingshot talents, prepared
for a final night of wheeling and dealing, with two B Mains,a Cash Dash and the
7th Annual Nostalgia National Classic awaiting the call to the speedway.
First off for the Slingshots was the 12 lap Cash Dash which would set the tone
for the rest of the evening as Kyle Rohner took the Bill Weaver owned number 1
to a convincing win and an added $100 for his efforts.
The 20 lap B Mains set from the dual heat format that was run on Sunday evening
saw a few of the younger driving talents, put on a show that simply had the
veterans looking on in amazement.B Main One found Matt Dealaman and Joe Nemeth
lead the field to the green and there wasn't a spot that would be decided during
any of the 20 laps as Dealaman took early command ,but his lead would soon
evaporate as Travis Bieber put the Marlin Bieber prepared 114 on the point and
in cruise control with Dealaman still challenging. The real battle was now
developing for the final 2 qualifying spots as Dillon Emmons,AJ Gerhart and
Robbie Hocker swapped positions in every turn. The 5 to go was given and in the
blink of an eye,Dealaman looped the 07 in turn 4 setting up a run to the finish
that could only be described as nerve racking.Bieber took the win with Paul
Ennes closing fast for 2nd as Dillon Emmons hit all his marks to grab 3rd and
Robbie Hocker taking the last qualifying spot after starting last.
B Main Two saw an even more exciting finish as Simon Egan and Danny Buccafusca
were taking turns leading this event until Egan's 55 headed to the infield after
14 circuits giving Buccafusca the top spot.Buccafusca and Hamlin Speedway
hotshoe Charlie Lawrence hooked up for a run to the finish that had one
detour. With the 2 to go signal shown Buccafusca drifted a little high in turn
four as the 4 of Lawrence seized the opportunity to claim the top spot, but
Buccafusca regrouped right in front of Lawrence and with nowhere to go,Lawrence
just slightly clipped the left rear of Buccafusca sending the orange 43 towards
the outside retaining wall, but the driving ability of the young Buccafusca was
in full evidence as he steered clear and proceeded on to claim a qualifying as
Lawrence took the checkered with Pete Knappenberger getting second."The Big
Dog",Ryan Raidline brought the Rich Raidline wrenched 00 from a last row
starting spot to a crowd pleasing 3rd with Buccafusca soldiering on from his
late race misfortune to get the last Nostalgia National qualified position.
Provisionals were given to 4 regional and national point contenders that did not
qualify through all rounds of heats and B Mains.Getting the added spots were
Matt Dealaman,Simon Egan,CR Hill and Matt Mertz.
The fans who had just witnessed two exciting B Mains were now primed for the 7th
Annual Nostalgia National and they would not be let down by any means.
The Nicholas Powdercoating 3N with Myerstown,PA's Michael Glass at the helm has
been nothing short of sensational since the birth of his daughter Kayla 2 months
ago as he would be in charge of bringing the field to the green with long time
Slingshot campaigner and current Accord Speedway Crate Sportsman hotshoe Kyle
Rohner accompanying him in the front row.
Rohner stayed on the gas into turn 1 and the pair ran side by side for 3 laps
before Rohner found the added traction out of turn 4 taking the Bill Weaver
owned # 1 to the lead. These 2 drivers were joined by Matt Carman, who was never
more than 2 car lengths behind awaiting a mistake by one or both of the talented
wheelsmen.
With fans finding exciting racing all throughout the field, the new battle was
beginning to surface from 4th through 8th as 3 time Nostalgia National winner
Marc Daniels, current Speedweeks leader Bill Weaver,2009 National Champion Cody
Kline,2008 National Champion Ben Whitaker and 2010 National Champion Shannon
Smith were locked into a spirited battle that was as impressive as the battle up
front.
The crossed flags were shown for halfway as Kyle Rohner continued out front with
the blanket still covering Glass and Carman. The RPM Parts Halfway Bonus was now
Rohner's,but a restart 3 laps later changed the whole race outlook. The 3N of
Glass used a move heading out of turn 2 that could only be described as
risky, but it put Glass in front and the field was now chasing him.
The packed grandstand now had more racing attracting their attention as the 211
of Branden Clauss,Kurt Bettler in the Scott Miller 66,provisional starter Matt
Dealaman and the RPM Slinger Parts 02 of Pete Knappenberger all wanted to be
included in the top 10 and were racing all out as the laps were being put into
the books.
Paul Ennes, in the Clark Garage 21,got together with Matt Miller's 16M and the
21 did a slow roll heading into turn 1 bringing out the red.Ennes stayed
strapped in and the track crew carefully righted the red racer and the
durability of the Slingshots was shown as Ennes drove off to rejoin the rear of
the field and still be competitive.
The green was now bringing the field to final it's 10 laps and Rohner mirrored
the Glass move a few laps earlier to retake the lead, but a relentless Glass was
not going to settle for 2nd and got back out front on lap 32 with a patient Matt
Carman, watching the action in front of him long enough.
Carman, got by Rohner with 3 laps to go and the show had one more chapter before
it's finale as the last caution of the evening set up a green, white, checker
finish that some race fans said was the best 3 laps of racing they have seen in
many years.
All of the remaining 18 spots were not decided yet and the fans were now on
their feet awaiting the 2 lap shootout.Glass' lead was down to feet and not car
lengths as Carman worked under the 3N heading into turn 1 and was up to Glass'
left rear tire, but Glass had the power off of turn 2 and was just hoping for the
race to finish out.The checker was waving and Michael Glass gave daughter Kayla
another win on her young resume' as he took the 7th Annual Nostalgia National in
one of the best races in the history of the Slingshot by Tobias Racing
Series.Carman held on for second with Rohner nursing a bent tie rod on the Bill
Weaver owned # 1 for third.Weaver just crossed the line ahead of Marc Daniels in
the S&S House Car 5S who rounded out the top 5.
The National Champion Trio of Cody Kline,Ben Whitaker and Shannon Smith were 6th
through 8th and a determined Branden Clauss got the Erb & Henry sponsored 211 in
for 9th.The 10th place payout envelope went to B Main winner Charlie Lawrence.
18 of the starting 28 cars finished the race with the Warren Ruffner Hard
Charger Award going to Matt Dealaman who improved his race standings by 13
places. The Warren Ruffner Last Car Finishing Award went to CR Hill in his yellow
0.
Many special awards were handed out at races end as Branden Clauss received the
Strapped In Racing Magazine 9th Anniversary Award for his 9th place run.Kyle
Rohner got the Racers Roundtable / RPM New and Used Slinger Parts Halfway
Bonus.Shellhammers Speedway's 36th Anniversary Awards were spread out with
Michael Glass getting the Lap 36 Leader money,Kyle Rohner got the 3rd place
finisher bonus,Cody Kline for his 6th place run.Random finishing draws by
Shellhammers Track Management went to Matt Delaman,Paul Ennes and Travis Bieber
with Clint Miller getting 1st alternate money and Ed Shaub getting the
Shellhammers Speedway Regular Award as highest finishing track regular not to
qualify.
Many of the fans congratulated Glass on his win and many of them expressed their
approval of a race well run with spirited, hard clean racing.
Dave Cordier,Sr,Mike Grim and Dave Cordier,Jr. deserve credit for bringing a
speedway that laid dormant for a full year to life with only 6 days of available
working time. Also over 3 inches of rain completely flooded turns 1 and 2,but the
track crew soldiered on and gave the Juniors a track to race on Sunday evening
and worked tirelessly Monday to get the Nostalgia National in with threatening
weather on the horizon.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, NY - "The Tornado" Tyler Johnston Flies Accord Speedway And Empire
States Colors To Reading Nationals Triumph
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
As the month of August slides onto the racing calendar, the thoughts of the
Reading Nostalgia Nationals in the first week of the month brings out the brave
young daredevils of the Slingshot divisions as they duke it out for supremacy on
the Berks County racing oval at the New Reading Fairgrounds located in
Bernville, Pennsylvania. Hot, humid, periods of rain and an un-cooperative track
surface did not deter the first leg of the two day journey as fourteen of the
finest Junior Slingshot drivers in the country took the green flag in a twenty
lap shootout to determine who was the best of the best on that day. Some bumping
and thumping caused some early departures for a few of the combatants, but at
the end of the encounter, thirteen year old Napanoch, New York hot shoe "The
Tornado" Tyler Johnston raced under the checkered flag to claim the win.
Johnston, who is in his second and final season of competition in the Slingshot
division, led all of the laps on his way to victory and while there were a few
anxious moments in the first few laps, dominated the event to score the win
while flying the Accord Speedway and Empire State colors to the win. Johnston,
who is currently leading in the National point structure for the Junior
Slingshots, has remained in the hunt for the Accord Speedway crown as well as he
will head into the next event on Wednesday evening, August tenth trailing point
leader Chris Kurtz in point by a 48-point margin. Accord Speedway Promoters Gary
and Donna Palmer and Speedway Announcer and Media Correspondent Steve Pados took
in the final event of the day at the event and were pleased to see three of
their regular drivers finish in the top eight positions as behind the winning
Johnston were third place finisher "The Midget" Chris Kurtz and in eighth
position Brandon "Juan Pablo" McGill. Chris Kurtz is the current leader in
points at both the Accord and the Hamlin Speedways and McGill is currently
fourth in points at Accord.
The exciting action from the preliminary events saw Johnston, Kurtz and Berks
County residents BJ Antonio and Loudon Reimert claiming the heat race wins that
set the stage for the feature run. Johnston grabbed the lead at the start and
while things were happening behind him was alway able to maintain an advantage
throughout the twenty lap event. Johnston raced away to the win with Wyalusing
regular Jared Zionkowski in the runner-up role, Kurtz in third, Hamlin regular
Kyle Gruber in fourth and Wyalusing regular "The Abbinator" Abbey Price
completing the top five. Hamlin regular "The Predator" Kenny Predmore in sixth,
Shelhamers regular Dakota Bartlet in seventh, McGill in eighth, Dylan Hoch in
ninth and recent addition to the Hamlin field Brody Adamsky completing the top
ten. BJ Antonio, Wyalusing star Alex Shaffer, Loudon Reimert and "Thrillin"
Dylan Martin completed the drivers in attendance at the event
Johnston carried sponsorship into the event from season long sponsors, Tri-State
Roofing, Shawn's Auto Repair, Honda of Kingston, Our Boy Home Inprovements,
Embroidery Wizard, DeSantis Heating, Frost Family and Hitchcock Motorsports and
represented his sponsors well with the Nationals victory and a pre-race
appearance on the popular CARQUEST Gasoline Alley TV/Internet Show. Johnston
will make the leap into the Spec Sportsman ranks for the 2012 racing season as
he moves into the full size divisions racers and will compete for Rookie of the
Years in the very competitive division at the Accord Speedway.
Leading the points heading into Wednesday night's racing action at Accord is
Chris Kurtz with 398 tallies thus far. Tyler Johnston with 350, Michelle
Campbell with 328, Brandon McGill with 318 and "KId Ice" Cole Hentschel with 314
markers complete the top five. Leo Fotopolous with 302 points, "The Bounty
Hunter" Jimmy Leiby with 286, Collin Dubois with 259, Bobby "The Flash" Flood
with 258, "The Bullville Bandit" Tommy Zwart with 236 and Chad Cooper with 236
round out the point chasers as the very competitive season rolls into the final
four weeks of the season.
Midweek Madness will continue from August 10th until August 31st every Wednesday
This week, Kingston Nissan will
serve as the headline sponsor for the evening events and will feature the six
regular divisions at the speedway with the return of the thrill a second
