Miller picks up $2400 qualifier mother nature
claims mains
Jeremy Miller picked up the 24 lap Qualifier on Friday night August 26, 2011 but
mother nature claimed the Saturday night main events. Jeremy Miller who set fast
time of 14.457 for the 2nd annual Raye Vest Memorial 24 lap 42400 to win
Qualifier on Friday night started from the pole with outside pole sitter Austin
Hubbard who lead the filed to the drop of the green with Miller taking the top
spot. Caution would slow the field on the start to reset the field. Miller again
jumping out in front over Hubbard would see third place starter Myers make the
move past Hubbard on lap two. Miller in control, Myers a close second would see
caution fly again on lap nine to slow the field. Field lined up ready for green
seen Miller, Myers Hubbard and Eckert your top four. Miller seemed to be on
cruise control , not allowing Myers to make the pass. The duo raced one-two as
the last caution of the event flew on lap twenty two to slow the field. Miller
in control would go onto claim the event, Myers second, Hubbard third, Richards
fourth and rounding out the top five was Rick Eckert.
In the Pure Stock Winchester/Potomac Challenge it was Mike Bennett picking up
the win. Mike Bennett and Brian Luttrell lead the field to the green with
Luttrell taking the top spot. Luttrell in control seen caution fly on lap seven
to slow the field. Field reset had Luttrell leading the way but Bennett was
glued to his bumper. The two raced side by side for several laps as Bennett
would make the pass on lap sixteen moving Luttrell to second. Luttrell battled
back but could not hold the top spot and Bennett would go onto pick up the win.
Luttrell claimed second, Mike Rose third, Potomac regular Kurt Zimmerman fourth
and Danny Sullivan rounded out the top five.
In the U-Car main event it was Joey Strosnider picking up the win over Brenda
Alexander, Steve Fadeley, Doug Crank and fifth went to Josh Wilkins.

Skyline Speedway Results FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
By Scott Wolfe
STEWART, OHIO-The highly-anticipated Road Warrior Challenge of the American
Motor Racing Association (AMRA) lived up to its expectations as a great field of
cars, a tacky track, great crowd, and 30-hard laps unraveled to the tune of a
Kenny Johnson, (Mineral Wells, WV) celebration in the Skyline Speedway victory
lane.
"Back to Black, and Back on Track", Chris Carpenter, South Parkersburg, once again found the groove in the AMRA super late models, Cole Duncan, Grove City, aced the OVSCA Sprint cars, Frankie Hall hammered the Semi/Crate Lates, and Jason Gillian claimed the Mike's Auto Body Mini-Wedges.
An unusually tacky, racy track made for some super-fast times and great, multiple groove racing. Fast Timer Chris Stotts- 13:45 - fell upon bad times in his heat, clipping an inside tire barrier. In the sprints, Jimmy Stinson turned a 10:59.
Four exciting heat races set the stage for the feature line-ups in combination with two B-mains for the 38-car modified field. The final battle for position was a 4 x 4 dash that saw Johnson edge heat winners Rick Venham, Jr., Mike McPherson, Jeremy Blake. The four car dash not only set the stage for the final four positions, but jump started the rowdy crowd for the 30-lap main event.
Visibly absent from the field was points' leader Doug Henry, who was battling health issues and was not in attendance. Several other of the AMRA's best, and possibly the nation's best open wheel modified driver's battled hard luck, and were unable to make the field from the select group of highly competitive cars.
In the A-main, Johnson immediately blitzed into the lead like a roaring lion, leaving the rest of the pack to fend for itself. While Johnson sought more prey, other young lions clawed for position. Mike McPherson, Toby Roush, Rick Venham, Jr., Jeremy Blake, Joe Hamon, Joe Cox and Robert Garnes cranked up a battle for a top five. AMRA 2010 RWT Champion Matt Holcomb fell out of the running early, then Toby Roush's bid at a great run ended with a lap eleven exit. A little later Joe Cox exited with a flat tire and heavy body damage after a gallant charge.
McPherson was shuffled back to at least fourth after an early battle, but the RV1 driver slowly began to pick his way back into contention. On the move were Robbie Evans, national points leader Vince Conrad, Jeremy Berwanger, Frankie Roush and youngster Kyle Bond.
Johnson continued to sail until a lap 16 incident sent Garnes to the tail, where he began a drive back to the front. Evans, Conrad, Hamon, Roush, and Berwanger shuffled positions regularly. In the same fashion McPherson, Venham, and Blake danced and diced for multiple passing exchanges for the number two slot. Hamon had a late race miscue that overshadowed his great run (with two laps to go).
Evans charged from 13th to sixth, Frankie Roush zoomed from 15th to 8th, former late model champ Mike Smith, back after a long absence, came from 16th to 10th, but the big passing champion was Jeremy Berwanger's 18th to 6th place charge for the Poske's Performance Parts Hard Charger honors. Gary Gould and Dusty Boley also had good runs from deep in the pack.
The official finish panned out in this order: Kenny Johnson, Mike McPherson, Rick Venham, Jr., Jeremy Blake, Robbie Evans, Jeremy Berwanger, Vince Conrad, Frankie Roush, Kyle Bond (14th to 9th), Mike Smith, Joe Hamon, Robert Garnes, Dusty Boley, Gary Gould, Jeremy Jarvis, Toby Roush, Chris Stotts, John Burdette, and Matt Holcomb.
A racy race track saw early leader Dan Morrison and Chris Carpenter dual in a 'full metal jacket' type clash for the first 16 laps of the race. The duo put on a super-hero performance, while Ralph Withem, Andy Bond, and Larry Bond grappled for the top five.
After so much early success, Morrison's tires appeared to fade. Andy Bond and Withem made some ground and Bond challenged for the lead, on several occasions nosing ahead of the victory-bound Carpenter. Two big stories teased the crowd as Chris Garnes and Colten Burdette both blasted through the pack. Garnes rode the high side to another galaxy, but lost his brakes with 8 laps to go, somewhat slowing his daring campaign.
Garnes came from 11th to 3rd while C. Burdette came from 15th to 7th as the duo shared hard-charging honors.
Rounding out the top ten behind the Tru-Tech Customs Rocket of Chris Carpenter were Andy Bond, Chris Garnes, Ralph Withem, Larry Bond, Freddie Carpenter, Colten Burdette, Dan Morrison, Tyler Carpenter, and Jeff Burdette.
Not enough adjectives could describe the torrid sprint car battle. Seldom do you have three cars around at the finish all within a car-length of one another, and seldom do you have a number of cars that can sustain a full 25-laps of slide-jobs, hard racing, and the stamina to race the duration with inches of one another.
Friday, Jimmy Stinson, Cole Duncan, and Danny Smith filled all three rings of the circus and didn't need a side-show to woo the fans. Stinson led 23 laps with two hungry sharks on his tail. Smith was the early challenger who couldn't quite make some early pass attempts stick. Then Duncan challenged Smith in what was a ferociously hard, but crafty exchange of slide job passing during laps 15 through 23. At one point Duncan popped a wheelie down the back chute, while challenging Smith for second.
As if the challenge wasn't enough, the duo masterfully crafted the exchanges amid some heavy traffic, making the battle more treacherous. On lap 22, Duncan blasted low below a lapped car, drifted high and nosed Stinson for the lead. Smith followed in the same fashion as all three streamed across the finish line in 1-2-3 fashion.
The rest of the top ten also put on a great show. Aaron Higgins was strong all evening and Dave Dickson pulled off another vintage, if not incredible performance from last to fifth. Dickson--the hard charger--was sneaky fast around the bottom, besting a gaggle of hard chargers. Chris Myers recovered from an accident to climb back into a top ten.
Another dual saw Andre Layfield and Wayne McPeek side by side much of the race, sometimes with a strong running Eddie Miller, who left with mechanical problems.
Rounding out the top ten were Duncan, Smith, Stinson, Aaron Higgins, Dave Dickson, Andre Layfield, Wayne McPeek, Chris Myers, Wes McGlumphy, and Kody Kinser. Veteran Benny Hickle flipped clear out of the ball park in turn one in his heat, but was uninjured. The latter cars in the field were extremely fast as well and also contributed to a great show: Greg Mitchell, Brian Benson, Eddie Slone, Eric Martin, John Jenkins.
Frankie Hall, Parkersburg, once again blasted to victory in the Semi-Late/ Crate class. Hall was the class of the field although Terry Hinkle and Kyle Thomas gave the veteran a run early in the event. Rounding out the top ten were Frankie Hall, Terry Hinkel, Freddie Carpenter, Eric Francis, Eric Foster, Nelson Freshour, Matt Kussmaul, James Joy, Thomas Burdette, and Kenny Roberts.
Jason Gillian brought home the Mini-Wedge main over Coleton Perine, Tyler Evans, Zach Carr, Corey Miller, Coleman Evans, Ryan Bigley, Jake Ice, Martin Gibson, Jr., and Gabriel Pepper. The event was the final event for the youngsters and their season-ending 'money race'. Skyline would like to thank the youngsters and their families for a great season of racing. A note of interest was that Lucas Crooks made his debut. Lucas is the Grandson of Hall of Famer Charlie Swartz.
Skyline is idle Labor Day Weekend, but
resumes action with a Sprint car special, paying $3,000 to win on Friday, Sept.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, NY- Dom Roselli "Ices" Quality Field To Capture Accord Speedway Victory
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
The final week of racing in August was buoyed by some great summer weather as
the Accord Speedway got back on track on Friday evening after suffering it's
sixth rainout one week ago. The quiet serenity of the Catskill Mountains area
gave way to the intoxicating sounds of hot rod racing cars on Friday evening and
another excellent crowd of eager racing fans came out to see their racing heroes
carve out a fabulous and entertaining six division show at the "Gem in the
Catskills" speedplant. When the final event had been checkered, six more winners
found their way to the Lucas Oil Products Winners Circle on an evening sponsored
by Tom's Repair Shop located in New Paltz, New York. In the Modified division,
"The Iceman" Dom Roselli worked some magic along with a heavy right foot in his
TriState Roofing/VanSycle sponsored race car to score his first win at the
speedway in some time in a win Roselli described as "a win for the old guys' as
he climbed from his signature numbered 80 machine. Youngster Will Dietz had more
than enough guns and ammo in his speed buggy to score his first career win at
the speedway in the Sportsman finale. "Hollywood" Whitey Slavin carved the third
notch in his Accord gun belt in 2011 as he captured the Spec Sportsman feature
main and Connecticut wheelman Justin Phillips clicked off constant laps of 12.3
seconds to wire the stellar Lightning Sprint roster of talent. Accord resident
Al Christiana raced to his second win of the season in the Pro Stock ranks while
Steve Cooper wired the field in his recently purchased Pure Stock only to be
found light at the scales and handing the win to Ryan Johnson. As the current
season hits the final two point events, a couple of tight point battles loom
ahead and will go right down to the wire to determine the track champions.
Roselli, a former four time Lake Mocatek Speedway Modified Champion, and former
ESS Sprint ace Geoff Quackenbush brought the talented 20 car field of VP
Fuels/Rhinebeck Ford Modifieds down for the start of the 30-lap headliner on
Tom's Repair Shop Night at the speedway. Roselli dug down on the inside and
found extreme bite to execute a slider on the "Quack Attack" to seize the lead
and head down the backstretch. Mel Schrufer made a move into the runner-up slot
to take up the chase on Roselli while Quackenbush, Michael Sabia and Rick Mill
provided the early opposition. During the early laps a quick skirmish saw point
leader Brett Hearn get tangled and turned in a ninety degree angle towards the
backstretch boiler plate but Hearn made a fabulous recovery and avoided making
contact with the outer fencing. Hearn suffered some damage in the incident and
went pit side to make quick repairs to his racer.
When racing resumed it was still Roselli at the point and Schrufer continuing to
try to find the quicker way around him. "The Wild Child" Andy Bachetti, from
13th place, became a factor as once he again he used a great portion of the race
track real estate to race his way forward. Bachetti was closing fast and
Schrufer was nose to tail with Roselli as they hit lapped traffic. Roselli was
quick through the traffic and Schrufer was held up long enough for Roselli to
roll out to a safe margin and go on a claim the win, and a popular win as many
well wishers greeted "The Iceman" in victory lane. Schrufer was the runner-up
with Bachetti in third place in a masterful drive. Quackenbush was fourth as he
finally has shaken the gremlins that have haunted him all season long. "Iron"
Mike Ricci rounded out the top five. Michael Sabia, Jeff Heotzler, Danny Tyler,
Rick Mill and Brett Hearn rounded out the top ten.
The Camper's Barn Sportsman division finale saw Jeff Hulseapple wheel the Vitale
Motorsports out front through the first eight laps of the event. Will Dietz took
advantage of an eighth lap restart to execute a slider on Hulseapple to gain
control of the event. As the racing hit the midpoint, Chris Stevens found his
way past Hulseapple into the runner-up slot and take off after Dietz. Stevens, a
rookie in the Sportsman ranks, was able to close in the latter portion of the
event but not able to make a bid as Dietz went on to claim his first career win
at the speedway. Stevens was the runner-up with Hulseapple in third, Driver of
the Week Joe Giachinta in fourth and Kevin Ward rounding out the top five. Jesse
Marks, Greg McCloskey, the returning Brian Krummel, Mike Skelly and Darrell Ford
completed the top ten.
The Arkel Motors nightcap for the Pure Stocks had Steve Cooper charging to the
front at the start of the event in the recently purchased former Taylor May race
car and easily outdistance the field in what would have been his first career
win at the speedway. Cooper's race car was light at the scales and the win was
handed over to runner-up Ryan Johnson and the win would prove to be his first of
the season at Accord. Mike Deyo, Ray Tarantino, John Woinoski and Ron Santosky
completed the top five.
Lem Atkins took the lead at the opening bell and led through the first half of
the Healey Brothers Group Spec Sportsman feature event. Whitey Slavin eased his
way through the field to take up the chase and found the inside channel of turn
four open to him as he raced past Atkins to take over the lead at lap eleven.
The event was heating up as the "Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner used a variety
inside maneuvers to rally into the runner-up slot with five laps remaining.
Rohner pulled out all of the stops but Slavin was glued to his groove and the
pair came across the line side by side with Slavin just edging out Rohner for
the win. Tyler Dippel ran an excellent race to claim third place money and Kyle
Van Duser was fourth while Lem Atkins held tough to complete the top five. Tommy
Johnson, Joe Judge, Patrick Murphy, Wayne Devantoy and Phil Johnson rounded out
the top ten.
Al Christiana led from start to finish in the DC Landscaping Pro Stock encounter
to go and record his second win of the season with a hard charging Ron Rion
closing in quickly in the final laps of the event. Christiana, who sat out last
season, had enough steam to hold off Rion who has run strongly since arriving at
the speedway a few weeks ago. Tom Vasta was third with Clarence Smith racing to
fourth from 12th starting spot and John Roese overcoming an early skirmish to
nurse his way back to a top five finish in his Ford powered chariot.
Justin Phillips blasted out to the lead from his outside pole start and
proceeded on to rip off vast hunks of Accord real estate as he went on to claim
his first career victory at the speedway. Rich Woods provided a late charge to
claim runner-up money and Joe Szczapa was third. Doug Norrie was fourth with
Peter Dance rounding out the top five. Will Casazza, Rick Stone, "Whirlin" Timmy
Durland, Christian Wright and Kyle Smith completed the top ten finishers.
MUDPLUGS:
The six feature racing program was completed at 11:03 PM. Through the determined
efforts of Promoter Gary Palmer, the speedway was in fabulous racing condition
and his hard work quickly paid off as Brett Hearn clicked off some 12.595 lap
times in hot laps that was not far off from his track record of 12.524 seconds.
Seven drivers were under the 13 second barrier and the track was race to the
walls all evening long and the drivers used all of it to gain the proper
advantage. The track was unbelievable throughout the evening of racing as the
drivers were able to find more bite than a junkyard dog could provide as they
raced throughout the evening and many stopped by after the races to thank Palmer
for providing them with such a great racing surface. A total of 108 racing cars
were on hand for the evening of racing.
Pure Stock heats went to Steve Cooper and Ray Tarantino. Modified preliminaries
were captured by Dom Roselli, Michael Sabia and Mel Schrufer. Spec Sportsman
heats were won by Tommy Johnson and Tyler Dippel. Joe Giachinta, David Coene and
Will Dietz captured the Sportsman heats while Kevin Ward won the Consolation
event. Al Christiana and Tom Vasta won the Pro Stock heats while Rich Wood,
Justin Phillips and Doug Norrie captured the Lightning Sprint heats. The
Lightning Sprints have proven to be an exciting addition to the great racing at
Accord and the car counts have remained solid all season long with many new
faces to mix with the stalwart talent of the division and the Palmer Family
edition thanks them for their support all season long.
Mike Kolka made his first Accord start since 2001 and was extremely pleased with
the speedway and hopes to return in the near future. Brett Graham, who has been
testing at the speedway on Wednesday nights, made his debut in the new GRC race
car and the new mount shows much promise. Phil Recchio has placed one of the new
GRC race cars in victory lane at Accord earlier in the season. Brian Krummel
borrowed one of the Darrell Ford hot rods in a return to the speedway. Mike
Skelly had driven the car previously but had his own race car on hand for the
evening. Mike Houghtaling and Dan Curry made the tow to Accord and are welcome
additions to the racing roster. Joe Knoth made his return to racing aboard the
John Woinoski mount and Jay Smalley made his first appearance of the season in
the family owned pure stock. Ron Santosky made his second start of the season
aboard one of the Cooper Motorsports entries and did a great job in landing in
the top six. Former CRSA Champion Steve Lapine made his first start of the
season at Accord but had problems in hot laps and retired for the evening. Adam
White was another newcomer at the speedway in the Lightning Sprint division and
he also shook his mount down in some practice sessions on Wednesday night prior
to his maiden voyage on Friday evening. Kurt Conklin was aboard the Pat Potter
race car but suffered from mechanical woes that shortened his evening.
A super amount of interest is already in place for the upcoming King of the
Catskills weekend at the speedway. With some big dollars in place, a banner
field for all divisions is anticipated and all indications for the finest racing
event in the history of the speedway loom ahead. More information will be
released in the upcoming weeks and updated points will be readied as quickly as
possible. New Egypt Speedway General Manager Danny Serrano took in the evening
of events at the speedway and was impressed with the great work the Palmer
Family continues to do at the speedway. George and Tara Baxter won the Pick the
Winner ticket of $50.00 for choosing the "The Iceman" Don Roselli to steer into
victory lane.

K-C Raceway Results FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
By Scott Wolfe
The summary: August 27, 2011 The Tecumseh K=C Raceway Results
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- Jackson, Ohio's Racin' Jason Montgomery has become K-C's Mr.
Invitational of sorts, winning a couple big features this 2011 season and
Saturday night's $2,000 to win "Tecumseh 30" at Jeff and Vicki Schrader's K-C
Raceway. Success has come at a price, however, as several early K-C excursions
ended in major repairs. Saturday, Montgomery continued his rise to prosperity
after fending off Salt Rock, WV driver Eddie Carrier, Jr. who was there every
inch of the race.
Jamey Adams, Laurelville, OH, has been rewriting the record books as a K-C
legend with another win in the Hobby Stocks. Derek Davis came from last to first
to claim the 15-lap RWD Four -Cylinder main, while Kevin Roberts, Jr. scored the
big win in the AMSA Mini-Sprint main.
Despite pulling into victory lane with a flat tire, Montgomery--visibly excited
and winded-- said in victory lane, "Wow, it got a little hairy out there at
times in lapped traffic and I thought, 'Oh no, I've seen this before', but
everyone got spread out and the car just kept hookin up on the high side."
"I'd like to thank my help and sponsors of this Rocket Chassis/Estes Engines
car, and all those who support me every week. We had some bad luck last week,
and these guys (crew) put this car back together-- and wow it was great."
Traditionally, "The Tecumseh" has been a sprint car event, but the management
team of K-C strategically switched the venue to a late model event. The result
was a stout field of cars featuring many champions from across the area.
The stage was set on the redraw with Montgomery and an other big-race winner
Carrier, two of the top guns, drawing pills one and two. Montgomery got the
early jump and Carrier quickly responded in tow. Although Montgomery went
green-to-checkered, Carrier made the race exciting, especially with several low
dives alongside the eventuall winner.
With Carrier pursuing possible slide jobs from the lower rung, Montgomery had
the momentum on the super quick high side. Off the track they are father-son,
but on the track one of the night's most heated battles was a race-long fight
between Rod Conley and Hall of Fame father Delmas Conley. For 30-laps the duo
battle hard much to the delight of the fans.
Mike Wilson, Mark Frazier, and Dusty Campbell had a great battle going for a top
five, but Campbell fell off the pace with mechanical woes. Wilson notched
another great K-C run into fifth with Frazier close behind. Both Montgomery and
Carrier lapped all cars up to seventh place Audie Swartz.
Another notable in the event John Whitney edged up-and-coming Dylan Huron and
Josh Bivens who had a strong night racing into the top ten. Bivens raced from
16th to 10th as the hard charger of the race.
Rounding out the top ten were Montgomery, Carrier, Jr., Rod Conley, Delmas
Conley, Mike Wilson, Mark Frazier, Audie Swartz, John Whitney, Dylan Huron, and
Josh Bivens.
In the 20-lap 'Arrowhead 20' Mr. Victory himself Jamey Adams, once again
prevailed in his "old car". Brandon Mather led early to lap 8, but the
Chillicothe police officer couldn't cuff the competition this time. Adams for a
time rode comfortably in fourth behind Evan Seitz and Billy Crabtree. Seitz gave
Mather an early run for the money. Brandon Thompson, the rising young gun,
battled with Bruce Gray, Jr., Gary Park and Jim Hildebrand.
Following a couple cautions, Adams stepped up to the plate and began his charge,
taking over for good on lap 9. Although it wasn't a run-away the rest of the
pack couldn't produce the speed to overtake the defending champ. Bruce Gray, Jr.
was on the move around the inside rail, picking off cars at a regular clip in a
great run to the co-hard charger award. His partner as co-hard charger was Jim
Hildebrand, who made a kamakazee blitz in turn three around two cars; a move
that sealed second for the gutsy driver.
Rounding out the top ten were Adams, Hildebrand, Gray, Jr., Mather, Brandon
Thompson, Evan Seitz, Gary Park, Mike Brust, Jack Martin, Sr., and Tim Cutler.
Adams said in victory lane, " Thanks to Jeff Schrader and the track crew for
giving us a great race track to race one. Once again Thank you to everyone who
supports us and helps get us here. Right now we are just enjoying the ride and
having fun."
Kevin Roberts, Jr. came and he conquered in the 20-lap AMSA Mini-Sprint main.
The all-Roberts reunion saw Nick Roberts in second, but the family picnic was
interrupted by third place Ryan Broughton, Rod Henning, and Greg Nicholas who
pushed Kevin Roberts, Sr. back to a respectable sixth. Tim Ashworth, T.J. Heil,
Justin Owens and Trey Gustin also had good runs. Gustin recovered from an early
spin to the top ten.
Said young Roberts, "My Dad and brother race me hard and that just makes me
better," said Kevin Roberts. "We enjoy coming here, and this Henchcraft Chassis
really hooked up tonight."
Rounding out the line-up were Kevin Roberts, Nick Roberts, Ryan Broughton, Rod
Henning, Greg Nicholas, Kevin Roberts, Sr., Tim Ashworth, T.J. Heil, Justin
Owens, Trey Gustin, Eric Semple, Mark Smith, Chris Smalley, Alex Watson, and
Todd Willis.
Derek Davis suffered disappointment in the 6-lap RWD Four Cylinder heat. As a
result, Davis had to start scratch in the feature. Davis turned tragedy to
triumph with an exciting last-to-first run, passing then leader Todd Irvin with
just under two laps to go.
Steve Cruse was the early leader, then Irvin took over. James Ball and Billy
Young had good runs going, but the fastest car at one point was the oncoming
Randy Baker, who dashed from next to last to third before going pit side.
Rounding out the top ten were race hard charger and winner Derek Davis, Todd
Irvin, James Ball, Billy Young, Randy Johnson, Adam Haynes, Nathan Johnson, Matt
Gray, Keith Elliott, and Randy Baker.
K-C is idle this coming Labor Day weekend, but returns in a big way Sept. 10 for
the annual "Freedom 40" for the All-Star Circuit of Champion sprint cars. In an
effort to pack the stands for one of racing's most prestigious open wheel races,
K-C promoter Jeff Schrader is charging the standard $12 General Admission for
all fans.
Said Schrader, "This is typically an $18-$20 admission to see the outlaw sprints
from the All-Star Circuit of Champions. If you haven't seen a sprint car race,
especially some of the best in the business (including Knoxville Nationals 2010
Champ Tim Shaffer), then this is a great opportunity. If you are a race fan, you
know it is a bargain. Sprint cars and K-C Raceway create excitement very few
tracks can make claim to."
Also on the race card are the powerful AMRA Modifieds and hard-charging K-C
Hobby Stocks.
K-C has added Late Models to the October 1 racing program. This will give the
late model and modified drivers their last chance to race on KC before the DTWC.
There will be no BOSS sprints this night.
While plans are in the works for more Road Warrior Challenge modified races, the
races that remain currently on the AMRA National schedule are Sat. Sept 17th at
Skyline Speedway, Stewart, Ohio (Harvest 50 Weekend) and Sat. Oct 1st at K-C
Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio as a Warm-up for Dirt Track World Championship. The
Dirt Track World Championship is Oct. 13-14-15 paying $50,000 to win for Late
Models and $3,000 to win for Modifieds.

Universe Racing/FireHouse Hood Raises $560 for Charity
Berwick, PA (August 26, 2011)- ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards team,
Universe Racing, and worldwide touring artists, FireHouse, are proud to announce
Everett Dickensheet as the winner of a recent charity auction to benefit Alex’s
lemonade Stand.
The autographed hood from last seasons #28 Universe Racing/FireHouse Dodge
Charger was auctioned off on eBay and Dickensheet, of Denver, CO was the highest
bidder.
All of the proceeds will be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand (ALS), the official
charity of Universe Racing. ALS uses the monies to research, and to help
children fight cancer.
Thanks to all parties involved and to Dickensheet for the highest bid, the
auction was a huge success.
Dickensheet isn’t only a FireHouse and Universe Racing fan. The lifelong drummer
and member of a band named “Fragments of Silence” is also familiar with Alex’s
Lemonade Stand, the charity in which the auction of the hood will benefit.
“I know of Alex’s Lemonade Stand through Don Schumacher Racing when they
supported the charity in Denver, Co last July”, said Dickensheet.
Not knowing where the piece that he won will end up long term, he has plans for
it once it arrives at his doorstep.
He commented, “I really don’t know where I am going to place the hood, but it
may end up in my practice space for our band.”
“I’m so glad that team owner Tony Aquilino and everyone involved were all able
to make this happen”, noted Steve Fox, the driver of the Universe Racing Dodge
Charger.
Fox continued, “This charity does great things and I know that the funds will be
put to good use. I’d like to congratulate Everett on winning the auction and I’m
sure he’ll be thrilled to have a unique piece of both, rock-n-roll and racing”,
and Aquilino agreed.

Jason Hughes Claims First USMTS Hunt Win of 2011 at Ogilvie Raceway
Westville, Oklahoma (08/24/11) – Jason Hughes powered his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel
Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified to his first victory in
the 2011 Casey's General USMTS Hunt Title last Wednesday at Ogilvie Raceway
(Ogilvie, Minnesota).
Below is a blog-style recap of Jason's recent events:
August 17th, 2011 - Jason scored his first win of the 2011 Casey's General USMTS
Hunt on Wednesday night at Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota). With 37 entries
on hand Hughes advanced from the fourth starting spot to claim his heat race
win, which locked him into the redraw for the 40 lap, $2,000-to-win feature.
After receiving the fourth starting spot for the main event in the redraw,
Hughes would move past Corey Dripps for the second spot on lap 13, and by lap 23
he was pressuring Jon Tesch for the lead as the front runners encountered lap
traffic. The 28th circuit would see Hughes move to the top spot with Gustin soon
moving into the second spot to pressure the leader. Jason would fend away the
advances of Gustin to claim the win. Gustin, Tesch, Kelly Shryock, and Jason
Jensen rounded out the top five at the checkered flag. The win was eleventh
overall on the 2011 season.
August 18th, 2011 - The Casey's General USMTS Hunt rolled into Rice Lake
Speedway (Rice Lake, Wisconsin) on Thursday night for another $2,000-to-win
event. The night started well for Hughes as he charged from the back of his heat
race to finish second, which locked him into the redraw for the feature.
Unfortunately he would receive the 8th starting spot for the feature from the
redraw, which put several good cars between him and the front of the pack. In
the main event he would only manage to advance a single position to a seventh
place finish.
August 19th, 2011 - On Friday night Jason Hughes took part in the Casey's
General USMTS Hunt event at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City,
Wisconsin) as 42 entries registered for action. It would prove to be a long,
frustrating night for Hughes as he saw mechanical issues in his heat race force
him to a last place finish in the heat and a scratch from the b-main. He would
utilize a series' provisional to start 27th on the grid for the 40 lap,
$2,000-to-win feature. Despite starting last in the field, Jason would pass
thirteen cars in the feature on his way to a 14th place finish, which earned him
the Mesilla Valley Transportation Hard Charger Award.
August 20th, 2011 - The ultra-busy weekend for the Casey's General USMTS
competitors continued on Saturday evening at Hamilton County Speedway (Webster
City, Iowa). With 28 Open Wheel Modifieds entered into the $2,000-to-win event
Jason started the night by finishing second in his heat race to earn the ninth
starting spot for the 40 lap feature. In the main event he would methodically
work his way through the pack, and by the time that the checkered flag fell he
had registered a second place finish behind race winner, Kelly Shryock.
August 21st, 2011 - Jason wrapped up a five day stretch of action with the
Casey's General USMTS tour on Sunday night at Noble County Speedway
(Worthington, Minnesota) in what would prove to be a rough night for the team.
Twenty-six competitors registered for the program, and after finishing second in
his heat race, Jason locked into the redraw for the feature, where he received
the fifth starting spot. Hughes would battle in the top ten for the first half
of the feature before mechanical issues brought his feature to an end on lap 30
in the 20th position.
Hughes is now third in the national standings behind Ryan Gustin and Shryock,
and Hughes Race Cars leads the Tiger Rear Ends Manufacturer's Championship
points. Full results and the latest tour standings are available at
www.USMTS.com.
This weekend, August 25th-27th, Jason will have the opportunity to make up ground in the point's battle as he will resume action with the Casey's General USMTS Hunt with a trio of events. On Thursday night the tour will invade I-35 Speedway (Winston, Missouri) before moving onto Cedar County Speedway (Tipton, Iowa) on Friday night and will conclude on Saturday night at Upper Iowa Speedway (Decorah, Iowa). Slingshot Tour Season Attracting Added Interest
As the 2011 Slingshot by Tobias Tour season heads into it's final 8 weeks, there
are quite a few National and Regional spots,up for grabs, with the Elite 11
Bilstein Shocks All Star National Tour and the Great 8 Briggs & Stratton Junior
National Tour both seeing some part time teams, making a full time effort,in
hopes of gaining enough points to get a slice of the tour money being awarded by
Speedway Entertainment.
Currently atop of the All Star National points is 2010 National Champion
,Shannon Smith, but in a virtual deadlock with each driver having 385 points is
former regional tour champion Matt Carman.Shannon started the season off with a
3rd place finish in the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City
and Matt is tied on the strengths of 2 second place runs at Shellhammers and
Reading, but missing the Atlantic City event.
Staying within striking distance is 2010 Shellhammers Champions and current
Shellhammers point leader Brett Bieber in the Marlin Bieber prepared 32.Brett
has the 2011 Spring Spectacular win at Shellhammers as the only driver with a
National win in the top 3.Michael Glass has the Reading Nostalgia National win
and is currently 4th in the Elite 11 standing sheet.Langhorne Motorsports Gary
Hieber, hot off of his NAPA Dutch Classic win at Kutztown Fair Speedway occupies
the 7th spot.
If the current standings hold true through the upcoming 6 Nationals, the 7th race
slated for Borgers Speedway on October 15th,could be the show or go race,as the
Roy Smith Memorial last year, put the final National points into a tiebreaker
with Shannon Smith's Reading Nostalgia National win the decider over 2009
champion Cody Kline.
For the 8-14 year old runners in the Junior National Great 8,there are 2 more
races for which to garner Junior National points, those being the Hamlin
Speedway,September 17th season ender and the Accord Speedway King of the
Catskills Junior National. If these races fall victim to Mother Nature, the newly
scheduled Fall Foliage 20 at Greenwood Valley Action Track on October 22nd would
now become a points show and from the season opener there, anything is bound to
happen.Tyler Johnston has a 40 point lead over Chris Kurtz with Kyle Gruber
nestled in the third spot with just 25 points to spare over Borgers Junior
National winner Dylan Martin.Wyalusing Valley regular Abbey Price rounds out the
top 5.There is only a 95 point separation between 5th and 10th,so finishing
spots will be at a premium.
Not to be outdone are the Regional Tours as the 2010 Junior National
Champion,Wallkill,NY's Tyler Dippel finds himself in a torrid Empire Region
battle with Caroga Creek runners Will Eastman and Cody Clark. Each driver has won
1 of the last 3 races with Eastman notching the Jolly Roger checker,Dippel the
Wachusett Valley winner and Clark laying claim to a shootout at Caroga
Creek.Eastman leads Dippel and Clark by 30 points with Tyler Pirone and Florida
invader ,CR Hill needing good finishes at Penn Can and Paradise to hopefully get
an Awards Banquet podium spot. The increased interest in the Empire Region has
seen a 30% increase in tour race entries.
The S&S 55 driven by Simon Egan ,sits atop of the MA Gold Region with wins at
Hamlin and Wyalusing Valley tallying 409 points.2nd through 5th gets very tight
as All Star rookie Danny Buccafusca resides in 2nd with 376 points and the
remaining top 5 are Shannon Smith (356 points),Branden Clauss (353 points) and
Cody Kline (323 points). There are 4 races left on the MA Gold schedule and
staying within reach are Bill Weaver,Robbie Hocker,Jr Fulper and Matt Carman.
The August 29th West End Super National will have an effect on the current MA
Silver standings as the 2010 West End National winner Michael Glass would like
to duplicate that feat as he sits atop the MA Silver standings.Brett Bieber's
Selinsgrove Raceway Park win on August 12th has him sitting firmly in the
runner-up spot and has given him a chance to make it a 2 driver showdown with
the last MA Silver race finding the teams heading to Jonestown,PA's Lindas
Speedway on September 24th for the Lebanon Valley 50 Pit Stop Challenge event.17
points separates the 3rd,4th and 5th drivers as Matt Mertz is in 3rd with 514
points.Only 1 point behind is Simon Egan and in 5th is fellow S&S teammate
Shannon Smith with 497 markers.
The Great Lakes Region has seen Mother Nature lay claim to 4 of the scheduled
tour races and with only the Hartland National left on the schedule on September
3rd Jackson Koster's 55 point lead over Derek Clement looks safe unless Koster
decides not to enter the season closer and Clement has a good run.Dustin
Sorensen just needs to keep his # 19 Slingshot ahead of Dan Olson to grab the
final regional tour paying position.
So in looking at what racing is left and what the teams are vying for, there is
still plenty of laps and money on the line for Slingshot teams of all ages.88
race teams have earned points in the All Star Elite 11 National Championship and
23 teams took the green in the Junior National Championship chase. These totals
will definitely increase by season's end.The spirited and close racing from both
Slingshot classes have seen race fans of all ages being attracted to the 39 HP
racers at various tracks in the northeast and midwest.

THE JERSEY RUSH AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
KNOXVILLE NATIONALS RUNNER-UP HEADS EAST. . . . . .
SHANE STEWART LATEST ENTRY FOR THE JERSEY RUSH, TUESDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 30 AT NEW
EGYPT SPEEDWAY
Thirty-four year old Shane Stewart of Bixby, OK is the latest entry for the
Tuesday night, August 30 JERSEY RUSH for 410 sprint cars at the New Egypt
Speedway.
Stewart has been red hot, first winning the 360 Sprint Knoxville Nationals on
August 6th then delivering an impressive second place finish in the 410 Sprint
Knoxville Nationals on August 13. Stewart will be heading east to the state of
New Jersey to chase the $5,000 first place prize up for grabs in the 30 lap
JERSEY RUSH for the 410 Sprints. Stewart will be driving the potent Scott
McClaren #21 . Earlier this year, Stewart and McClaren teamed-up and won the
Jack Gunn Memorial 360/358 Challenge at the Selinsgrove Speedway, so the
McClaren team already has an established chemistry with Stewart.
Stewart races all over the country and to date has run forty races, earning
eight wins, thirty-one top five finishes and thirty-five top ten's. "This guy is
professional in every sense of the word. He runs so many races and visits so
many different tracks and just knows how to communicate with the crew on
set-ups". McClaren added, "He's a first class act and we're looking forward to
the race at New Egypt Speedway".
The Tuesday night, August 30 JERSEY RUSH is billed as a block-buster
Doubleheader that will showcase the 410 sprints in their first visit to New
Egypt since 2007. Joining the 410 sprints will be the big block modifieds, the
weekly premier division at New Egypt. The 410 sprints will compete in time
trials, qualifying heats, a "B" main and the $5,000 to win 30 lap feature event.
For the big block modifieds, they will run a series of qualifying heats, a
consolation and a $3,000 to win 30 lap feature. Gates will open at 5 PM with
race time set for 7:30 PM. In the event of rain, Wednesday night, August 31 will
be the rain date.
Shane Stewart will have plenty of competition including Daryn Pittman of Owasso,
OK, Justin Henderson of Sioux Falls, SD, Greg Hodnett of Memphis, TN, Fast
Freddie Rahmer of Salfordsville, PA, Lance Dewease of Fayetteville, PA, Todd
Shaffer of Millerstown, PA, Doug Esh, Mark Smith, Danny Dietrich, Brent Marks,
Frank Cozze, Davey Sammons, JJ Grasso, Curt Michael, Kevin Nouse, Dave Ely,
Robbie Stillwaggon and many others.
One driver for sure will be doing double duty in the JERSEY RUSH and that's
Billy Pauch of Frenchtown, NJ. Pauch recently scored his 100th career win at the
New Egypt Speedway and was the winner of the first ever 410 sprint show at New
Egypt back in 1999. Pauch will be driving the J&M Motorsports 55, the same team
that scored that first win together at New Egypt.
A Driver & Crew Meet and Greet is being planned by race organizers for fans to
get an up close look at the drivers and cars. The Meet & Greet will take place
from 5-6 PM. The gate from Victory Lane (behind the turn four seating) to the
pit area will open to allow spectators to go pit side for one hour prior to the
start of this blockbuster event. Come out early and enjoy a great night of
racing.
The big block modifieds will have plenty of talent in the field including
invaders Duane Howard and Craig VonDohren along with the weekly favorites that
include Rick Laubach, Willie Osmun, David VanHorn, Jimmy Horton, Richie Pratt
and Wade Hendrickson.
It's a night of "Double Trouble" when the 410 Sprints and Big Block Modifieds
team-up on Tuesday night, August 30.
This event is a co-promotion between Lenny Sammons, his sons and special events
organizer Bob Miller.

World of Outlaws Late Model Series Doubleheader In Michigan Yields Back-To-Back
Seventh-Place Finishes For Chub Frank
BEAR LAKE, PA – Aug. 23, 2011 – Chub Frank scored back-to-back seventh-place
finishes during last weekend’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series doubleheader
in Michigan – a respectable trip for the veteran from Bear Lake, Pa.
But Frank knows he came oh-so-close to a pair of top-five runs in the Wolverine
State.
“We had a real good shot at two top-fives,” said the 49-year-old Frank. “We just
fell a little bit short.”
Frank came within one lap of steering his Corry Rubber/Hino Toyota/Horton
Equipment Rocket No. 1* to a fifth-place finish in last Friday night’s ‘Keyser
Manufacturing 50’ at Winston Speedway in Rothbury, Mich. After starting 12th, he
found himself sitting fifth after a flurry of late-race action, but on the final
circuit he was overtaken by Shane Clanton and Tim Fuller and settled for seventh
place.
“I screwed that up and lost fifth. I wasn’t happy about that,” admitted Frank.
“I just bobbled on the last lap and caught the infield banking. I bounced, and
that just let those guys get a run and get by us.”
Frank came back strong the following night at Merritt Raceway in Lake City,
Mich., timing fourth-fastest in the 46-car field and winning a heat race for the
first time on this year’s WoO LMS. Unfortunately he had no luck in the
pre-feature draw for position, picking the worst spot – eighth – on a track that
was not conducive to charges to the front of the pack.
The driver known as ‘Chubzilla’ was able to climb up to fifth just prior to the
halfway point of the 50-lap A-Main, but he lost the position to Josh Richards on
lap 29 and was later passed for sixth by Clanton.
“The redraw killed us tonight,” said Frank. “It wasn’t a good night to start
eighth – the track wasn’t too good for passing. It just had too much traction on
the bottom and it was too slippery on the top. You had to have a really good car
to go around the outside, and my car was too loose in the feature.”
The seventh-place finishes did allow Frank to maintain fifth place in the WoO
LMS points standings. He sits 278 points behind leader Rick Eckert, but he’s
pulled within 80 markers of fourth-place Tim McCreadie with nine events
remaining on the 2011 schedule.
Frank’s visit to Michigan closed out his long-distance trips for the month of
August. His WoO LMS starts earlier in the month featured a seventh-place finish
on Aug. 3 at Shawano (Wis.) Speedway (finished seventh); a DNQ (overheating) for
the USA Nationals on Aug. 5-6 at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. (the
race offered only show-up points); and an 11th-place finish on Aug. 8 at
Independence (Iowa) Speedway. He also competed in a Corn Belt Clash Series show
on Aug. 4 at Cedar Lake (finished 17th) and entered the Lucas Oil Late Model
Dirt Series ‘North-South 100’ on Aug. 12-13 at Florence Speedway in Union, Ky.
(he did not qualify after scratching from his heat race).
With the WoO LMS off until a Labor Day weekend doubleheader at Tyler County
Speedway in Middlebourne, W.Va., on Sept. 3 and Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex
in Markleysburg, Pa., on Sept. 4, Frank is planning to enter this Friday night’s
weekly DIRTcar UMP Late Model show at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa.

Jared Landers Finishes 3rd in Topless 100; Busy Weekend on Tap
Batesville, Arkansas (08/23/11) – Jared Landers backed up his 2010 COMP Cams
Topless 100 Championship by piloting his #777 Clint Bowyer
Motorsports/Rocket/Earnhardt Childress Racing Engine Super Late Model to a third
place finish in the 2011 edition of the event over the weekend.
Jared Landers entered the 19th Annual COMP Cams Topless 100 over the weekend as
he made the short trip to his home track, Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust
Grove, Arkansas). The $40,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS)
saw a field of 55 competitors register for action on Friday night, and after
battling the setup in Red Buck Cigar qualifying, he would only be able to manage
the fifth starting for his heat race. Despite starting around mid-pack he would
race to a second place finish in his heat, which locked him into the redraw for
the feature, where he received the tenth starting spot.
Saturday night would see the finale for the event get underway under threatening
skies. As the 100 lap feature went green, Landers would quickly come to the
front as he was up to the fourth position by lap 12 when the skies opened
drenching the 3/8 mile oval, forcing the remainder of the event to be postponed
until Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
Sunday afternoon greeted the fans and competitors with hot and sunny conditions,
and as the race resumed Jared would challenge Owens for the second spot before
taking over the position by lap 35 as he set his sights on the leader, Scott
Bloomquist. Two laps later Landers would briefly pull even with Bloomquist
before seeing the leader motor away from him. Jared would hold down the second
position until lap 89, when lapped traffic caused him to bobble, allowing Owens
to slip by for the second spot. Landers would go on to cross the finish line in
the third spot behind race winner, Bloomquist, and Owens. Full results are
available at www.LucasDirt.com.
The team will have a short turn-around time as the team enters a trio of
$10,000-to-win events this weekend, August 25th-27th, with the Lucas Oil Late
Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). On Thursday night the tour will be in action at
Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) and will move onto Lawrenceburg
Speedway (Lawrenceburg, Indiana) before concluding the weekend on Saturday night
at Bluegrass Speedway (Bardstown, Kentucky). For more information please visit

Jon Tesch Scores USMTS Hunt Win at Mississippi Thunder Speedway
Watertown, South Dakota (08/23/11) – Over the past two weeks Jon has been in
action in the opening rounds of the 2011 Casey's General USMTS Hunt in his #14
Tesch Motorsports/B&E Concrete/GRT/Sput's Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified, and
on Friday night he claimed the win at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain
City, Wisconsin).
Below are blog-style updates of last week's tour events:
August 17th, 2011 - Jon resumed action on the Casey's General USMTS Hunt on
Wednesday night at Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) in a $2,000-to-win, 40
lap event. The night would start great for the team as Tesch charged from last
in his heat race to claim the win, which locked him into the feature's redraw.
In the redraw, Jon would receive the pole starting spot for the main event with
Trent Follmer joining him on the front row.
As the feature went green Tesch jumped to the lead and would build a solid
advantage by the time that he began to catch the backmarker on lap 13. Over the
next several laps Jason Hughes would work his way up to the second spot, and the
duo began to battle for the lead. Lap 28 would see Hughes and Ryan Gustin use
lapped traffic to their advantage as they slipped past Tesch as he was pushed
back to the third spot. Jon would go on to record a third place finish behind
race winner, Hughes, and Gustin. Even though it wasn't the win he wanted it was
still a solid point's night for the team in The Hunt.
August 18th, 2011 - Thursday night found Jon at Rice Lake Speedway (Rice Lake,
Wisconsin) for a $2,000-to-win, Casey's General USMTS Hunt event. The
$2,000-to-win event drew a field of 35 competitors, and heat race action saw Jon
win his heat race to lock into the redraw for the feature. In the redraw, he
would receive the fifth starting spot. He would battle in the top five for the
duration of the feature before recording a fourth place finish behind race
winner, Ryan Gustin, Ryan Ruter, & Dustin Boney.
August 19th, 2011 - After flirting with victory lane several times over the past
several races, Tesch was finally able to seal the deal on Friday night at
Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin) as he topped the
$2,000-to-win event. Forty-two Open Wheel Modifieds entered the event, and Jon
started the night by winning his heat race to lock into the redraw, where he
would select the second starting spot for the 40 lap feature alongside
pole-sitter, Dustin Boney. Jon would find his way to the lead early in the
feature event before racing to the victory, which came over Johnny Scott, Ryan
Gustin, Tim Donlinger, and Jason Krohn. The win was his second of the season.
August 20th, 2011 - Saturday evening found the #14 GRT House Car with Jon Tesch
behind the wheel in action at Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa) in
another $2,000-to-win, Casey's General USMTS event. Twenty-eight competitors
registered for the event, and in heat race action, Tesch advanced one spot from
his fifth starting spot to a fourth place finish. The heat performance was
enough to lock him into the feature in the 14th starting position.
At the drop of the green flag Tesch would begin to slowly work his way forward,
and during the course of the feature he would gain a total of six spots on his
way to an 8th place finish at the checkered flag.
August 21st, 2011 - Jon concluded a busy, five day stretch with the Casey's
General USMTS tour on Sunday night at Nobles County Speedway (Worthington,
Minnesota). Twenty-six cars entered the event, and after winning the first heat
race, Tesch locked into the redraw for the feature event, where he received the
fourth starting spot. In the feature the leaders would spend a majority of the
feature in lapped traffic as they battled for the lead. By the time that the
checkered flag dropped Tesch was shown with a third place finish behind race
winner, Jasoh Krohn, and Ryan Gustin.
Jon is currently third in the latest Hunt standings behind Ryan Gustin and Kelly
Shryock. Full results and the latest standings are available at
www.USMTS.com.
This weekend, August 25th-27th, Jon will resume action with the Casey's General
USMTS Hunt with a trio of events. On Thursday night the tour will invade I-35
Speedway (Winston, Missouri) before moving onto Cedar County Speedway (Tipton,
Iowa) on Friday night and will conclude on Saturday night at Upper Iowa Speedway
(Decorah, Iowa). For more information, please visit www.USMTS.com .
Taping has also begun for this year's episodes of Dirt Knights, and once again

SANTA MARIA, CA – AUGUST 22, 2011... This Saturday night, August 27th, the USAC
West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series will return to Chris Kearns' Santa Maria

4th show. Ryan Bernal earned his first career series triumph on July 30th and
won again last weekend at Hanford. Bernal will be looking to tie T.J. Smith's
series record of three consecutive victories on Saturday.
Twin brothers Richard and Jace VanderWeerd of Visalia continue to lead the way
in the championship points. Driving the family owned #10 VanderWeerd
Construction / Battery Worx Maxim, Richard holds a sixty-two point advantage
over the field. Last Saturday night at Hanford, Richard rebounded from an early
tangle to salvage a fifth place finish. To date, VanderWeerd has one feature
win, three Sander Engineering Fast Time Awards, three heat race victories, nine
top-10 finishes, and seventeen feature laps led to his credit. VanderWeerd will
be looking to extend his lead with a Santa Maria victory.

Worx Maxim to third at Hanford's Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway. Currently
second in the point chase, last season's USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year has one
feature win, one heat race victory, nine top-10 finishes, and fourteen main
event laps led. VanderWeerd would like to add Saturday's win to his resume and

USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series
TWO IN A ROW FOR RYAN BERNAL AT HANFORD
By Lance Jennings
HANFORD, CA – AUGUST 20, 2011... After winning his first career USAC West Coast
360 Sprint Car Series feature at Santa Maria on July 30th, Ryan Bernal of
Hollister drove to the 30-lap feature win at Hanford's Giant Chevrolet Speedway.
The victory marked his second triumph in a row as the series returns to Santa
Maria this Saturday, August 27th.
Starting third in the main event, Bernal quickly raced Danny Olmstead's #11D S&S
Automotive / Dorso's Automotive Maxim into second. While leader "Showtime" Danny
Sheridan of Santa Maria preferred the high line of the Hanford clay oval, Ryan
applied pressure from the low groove. The pair raced wheel-to-wheel on several
occasions and Bernal secured the lead on the ninth circuit. Despite several
yellow flags later in the event, the former Wingless Spec Sprint Champion held
his composure and drove to victory. T.J. Smith, Jace VanderWeerd, Peter Murphy,
and Richard VanderWeerd rounded out the top five finishers.
With the Hanford win, Ryan Bernal is third in the championship standings and
sixty-seven points behind leader Richard VanderWeerd. Earlier in the program,
Bernal was second quick on the night and finished third in his heat race. To
date, the young driver has two heat race victories, seven top-10 finishes, and
leads the series with 101 feature laps led. Twenty-four hours earlier, the Ryan
won a Wingless Spec Sprint feature at Watsonville's Ocean Speedway.
Fresno's T.J. Smith had one of his best showings of the year with a second place
run after starting sixth. Driving Steve LeGras' #14 UHL Rubber / S&S Automotive
Maxim, Smith qualified seventh fast and won the Extreme Mufflers Heat Race #1.
The Santa Maria track champion has one Sander Engineering Fast Time Award, three
heat race victories, four top-10 finishes, and led thirty main event laps on the
season.
Jace VanderWeerd of Visalia scored third in the family owned #88 VanderWeerd
Construction / Battery Worx Maxim. In time trials, last season's USAC/CRA Rookie
of the Year earned his first Sander Engineering Fast Time Award and later placed
third in his heat race. VanderWeerd is currently second in the standings,
sixty-two points behind twin brother Richard, with one feature win, one heat
race victory, nine top-10 finishes, and fourteen main event laps led.
Veteran Peter Murphy of Clovis made a rare start with the USAC West Coast 360s
and claimed fourth in Rick Eberhardt's #4 Ridgeline Framing / Pro Signs Maxim.
The former SCRA 360 and Bandit Champion qualified twelfth and finished third in
his heat race. To date, Murphy has one feature win, one Keizer Wheels Hard
Charger Award, five top-10 finishes, and four feature laps led on the year.
Twenty-four hours earlier, Peter won a winged 410 Sprint Car feature at Chico's
Silver Dollar Speedway.
Point leader Richard VanderWeerd of Visalia rebounded from an early tangle that
sent him to the rear of the field and took fifth at the checkered flags. The
pilot of the family owned #10 VanderWeerd Construction / Battery Worx Maxim was
fifth fast in time trials and second in his heat race. In 2011, VanderWeerd has
one feature win, three Sander Engineering Fast Time Awards, three heat race
victories, nine top-10 finishes, and seventeen feature laps led to his credit.
Bakersfield's Rusty Carlile drove to his first 10-lap victory by taking the
Saldana Racing Products / Keizer Wheels Heat Race #2. Driving the #51 Southwest
Contractors / NTS Incorporated Bullet, Carlile was eleventh fast in
qualifications and claimed thirteenth in the Hanford feature. The veteran driver
has three top-10 finishes in the 2011 campaign.
Another driver to win their first heat race of 2011 was Justyne Hamblin of
Hanford. Piloting the #8 JH Motorsports' Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino / Dias Law
Firm Speed Tech entry, Hamblin won the DJ Safety Heat Race #3. The 2009 Series
Champion was ninth fast on the night and finished ninth in the main event.
Justyne is currently ninth in series points with one Keizer Wheels Hard Charger
Award and five top-10 finishes on the year.
Dennis Howell of Rancho Palos Verdes earned his second Keizer Wheels Hard
Charger / Best Passing Job honors with a sixth place run after starting
fifteenth. Driving the family owned #62 San Pedro Auto Body / Howell-Meyer
Racing #62 Maxim, Howell was tenth quick in time trials and fifth in his heat
race. The USAC Midget Series graduate climbed to sixth in points with two heat
race victories and seven top-10 finishes in 2011.
