Johnston Reading Junior National Winner
The rainy weather took it's toll on the New Reading Fair Speedway surface with
overnight torrential downpours giving Dave Cordier,Sr. and the Reading Fair
track crew a tough job facing them come early Sunday morning, but they gave
everyone a raceable speedway with a few soft spots demanding the younger drivers
talents to be at their peak.
The dual heat format was run off with Tyler Johnston,Chris Kurtz,BJ Antonio and
Louden Reimert taking qualifying checkers which set the lineup for the Nostalgia
Junior National and giving the Nepanoch,NY speedster Tyler Johnston the starting
rights for the 20 lap A Main.
A few overanxious moments in the early stages of the event found the yellow
flying more than the green, but once the younger drivers got in a groove the laps
started to go by rather quickly.
Johnston had to ward off the early advances of Oley,PA's Louden Reimert and then
had the 23Z of Jared Zionkowski to deal with after Reimert went pitside on lap
6.Zionkowski got under Johnston heading out of turn 2 on lap 9 but could not
hold the inside line heading into turn 3 and actually lost second to Chris
Kurtz, but a yellow flag brought everyone back to the previous lap and Kurtz back
to 3rd.
The top 3 ran hard, close and clean with Kyle Gruber and Abbey Price now drawing
fan interest as Price got by Gruber in turns 1& 2 but lost it in turns 3&4
giving Gruber 4th back with 5 to go.As the top 5 were running nose to tail Kevin
Predmore,Jr. was passing a car a lap in the later stages of the event and was
now pressuring Price with 2 to go.
With the white flag waving the only positions that were up for grabs were being
settled by Dakota Barlet,Dylan Hoch and Brandon McGill, who were 3 wide heading
to the checkers with Barlet getting 7th and McGill just getting Hoch at the
finish line.
Tyler Johnston was joined in victory lane by Zionkowski and Kurtz for the
ceremonia Juniorl Nostalgia National top 3 photo.
With the win Johnston increases his Junior National point lead with the next
stop at Kutztown Fair Speedway on August 17th.
Special monetary awards were handed out to a few Junior drivers as Kevin
Predmore,Jr's. run from 12th to 6th nailed down the Warren Ruffner Hard Charger
Award of $25.Getting the Friend of the Slingshot's Last Running Car Award of $25
was Sandyston,NJ's. Brody Adamsky. The Strapped In Racing Magazine 9th

Steve Fox Enjoys Best Career Effort at Pocono
Long Pond, Pa (August 7, 2011)- Hard work and dedication finally came “Full
Circle” today for Steve Fox and the Universe Racing team today at Pocono
International Raceway in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards
Pennsylvania 125. With his best career finish of 16th in the series and also on
the lead lap, Fox and the team finally achieved their goal of getting a top 20
run and they did it in style with a full field of cars on the “Tricky Triangle”.
Menards Pole Qualifying was held on Friday and Fox ran the 28th quickest time in
the #50 Universe racing/FireHouse Dodge Charger. Mother Nature postponed the
125-mile event from Saturday to Sunday and the field took the green flag early
in the morning, following the Camping World Truck Series event.
Fox remained patient throughout and stayed in the top 20 all day. Near mid race
he cracked the top 15. Several yellows slowed the race, and Fox remained steady,
clicking off his fastest laps of the event in the closing laps. He beat
Pennsylvania rival and Daytona winner, Bobby Gerhart to the stripe, as well as
Pocono’s recently named Chief Operating Officer, Nick Igdalsky.
Richard Childress racing driver, Ty Dillon, took the victory over his teammate,
Tim George, Jr.
“Today was a great day for Universe Racing”, noted Fox. “It seemed like
everything just fell our way today and I’m thrilled with a 16th place finish on
the lead lap”.
Unlike past races, Fox had a volunteer pit crew and they definitely got the job
done.
“Those guys (pit crew) were great today”. He continued, “Everyone worked hard
and I especially have to thank Gary Sterner. He helped me for two nights a week
over the last year to rebuild this car since we wrecked at Pocono”.
Along with his sponsors and everyone else who helped out Universe Racing, Fox
noted that Dom Hurse and Kyle Martell really helped with getting the bodywork
and setup complete. He also said that Gary Wentz from Wentz Auto Body provided
excellent transportation for the team’s equipment.
Despite the rain on Saturday and terrific effort on Sunday, it couldn’t have
been a better weekend for Universe Racing. Members from the team’s public
relations agency headed to the Clearfield County Fair on Saturday to meet up
with internationally known band, FireHouse. The members of the group autographed
the hood from the car that Fox competed with last year and soon it will be
auctioned off on eBay, where all of the proceeds will be donated to the Alex’s
Lemonade Stand charity.
“I’m thrilled about the upcoming auction and can’t thank FireHouse and everyone
else involved enough for supporting it”, said Fox. “I hope we can raise a ton of
money from it for Alex’s Lemonade Stand.”

THE JERSEY RUSH AT NEW EGYPT
FRED RAHMER HEADS TO NEW EGYPT TUESDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 30 FOR FIRST EVER "JERSEY
RUSH"
Nationally recognized 410 sprint car driver Fred Rahmer of Salfordsville, PA is
the latest entry for the Tuesday night, August 30 "JERSEY RUSH" to take place at
the New Egypt Speedway. Rahmer has won at just about every track he competed at,
except New Egypt and it was Rahmer way back in 1999, who organized and promoted
the first ever 410 sprint car race at New Egypt. Local favorite Billy Pauch won
the event that attracted a near capacity crowd. On Tuesday night, August 30,
Rahmer's goal is to leave the track with his pockets stuffed with the $5,000
first place prize for winning the 30 lap JERSEY RUSH for 410 sprints. In the
event of rain, Wednesday night, August 31 will be the rain date. Gates will open
at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM.
Rahmer is just one of many leading a caravan of sprint car rigs to New Egypt on
August 30. Tyler Walker of Los Angeles, CA has entered the event in the Jesse
Keen owned sprint car. Recently, Walker won the King's Royal at the Eldora
(Ohio) Speedway and earned $50,000 for the win. Walker is a previous winner at
New Egypt Speedway, winning the second (in 2000) of six 410 shows presented at
this absolutely beautiful facility.
The roster of talent also includes Justin Henderson of Sioux Falls, SD, Greg
Hodnett of Memphis, TN, Daryn Pittman of Owasso, OK, Lance Dewease of
Fayetteville, PA, Dave Ely of West Lawn, PA, Curt Michael, URC's seven time
champion of Ocean View, DE, Davey Sammons Bordentown, NJ, Rick Lafferty

The 410 sprints are without a doubt the fastest race cars on dirt. with 900
horsepower and a weight of just 1,400 pounds, these cars will fly around the
always exciting 7/16 mile "D" shaped Speedway. Just imagine, twenty-four 410
sprint cars starting two abreast and taking the green flag as they race into
that first turn! You'll first hear the roar, then feel the rumble when this race
begins.
The sprints will compete in time trials, heat race events and a "B" Main
(consolation) all leading up to the JERSEY RUSH, a 30 lap feature paying $5,000
to the winner.
There is still more to this show.
Also on the program will be the Big Block Modifieds, the traditional weekly
star-filled division at New Egypt Speedway. Billy Pauch, Rick Laubach, Willie
Osmun, Jimmy Horton, David VanHorn, Richie Pratt, Wade Hendrickson and a host of
other modified stars will be on hand to chase the $3,000 first place prize to
win the 30 lap modified feature. Heats and a consolation will determine the
twenty-four car starting field. Between the 410 Sprints and Big Block Modifieds,
one can expect "Double Trouble" in the twin 30 lap feature events.
A Driver & Crew Meet and Greet is being planned by race organizers for fans to get an up close look at the drivers and cars. The Meet & Greet will take place from 5-6 PM. The gate from Victory Lane (behind the turn four seating) to the pit area will open to allow spectators to go pit side for one hour prior to the start of this blockbuster event. Come out early and enjoy a great night of racing.
General admission is $30 for adults, $10 for children 6-11 and kids under the age of six will be admitted for Free. The pit fee is $35 and a license is not required.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, NY- "The Razor" Mike Ruggiero Carves Up First Win In Exciting Accord
Speedway Modified Main Event
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
After a week of sitting idle due to the crazy weather pattern in the area, the
"Gem in the Catskills" Accord Speedway swung back into action on Friday evening
and reeled off an outstanding racing card for the great crowd on hand that
witnessed the excellent racing action. The fans were offered the opportunity to
go trackside and meet and greet with the talented driving roster of the speedway
on camera and autograph night presented by Royal King Dry Cleaners with
locations in New Paltz and Stone Ridge to serve their ever growing customer
base. Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna Palmer had the speedway grounds in
pristine condition and the outstanding track work prep of Gary Palmer presented
the drivers with another fabulous racing surface at the race to the walls
facility. The final outcome of the great evening of racing action saw "The
Razor" Mike Ruggiero capture his first Modified win at the speedway as he held
off a quadrant of some of the best racers in the business to land in the Lucas
Oil Products Winners Circle. "The Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner raced to his
fifth win of the season in the Spec Sportsman headliner and Pat Zimmer scored
his fifth win in the Pro Stock feature event. Veteran campaigner John Woinoski
continued his recent hot streak with his second straight win the Pure Stock
ranks and Anthony Perrego scored his second win in the Sportsman main event when
he inherited the lead after the early leader was taken out of the event with
five laps remaining in the event. The five feature card was completed by 11 PM
on headline sponsor Royal King Dry Cleaners Night at the speedway that included
the forty minute intermission for the fans to connect with their racing heroes
at trackside.
Mike Ruggiero and "Primetime" Scott Ferrier brought the 22 car starting VP
Fuels/Rhinebeck Ford Modified field down for the start of the 30-lap main event.
Ruggiero, who was a late addition to the roster in 2011 and had suffered a
malady of problems since his arrival at the speedway, slid up the banking at the
start of the event to allow Ferrier the needed real estate to lead the first lap
but Ruggiero carved up a piece of the Accord landscape of his own as he knifed
his way past Ferrier by the end of the second lap to seize control of the event.
From seventh staring spot came "Showtime" Danny Tyler as the showtime kid had a
fast hot rod under him and was a rocket as he raced to the runner-up slot before
ten laps were completed. A few times during the early laps it appeared that
Ruggiero would use more clay than he needed but his big right foot allowed him
to keep the momentum of the race car on track as he paced the field.
Behind the leaders a thundering quadrant of superstar driving talent was
thinning out the herd as "The Statesman" Jerry Higbie, "The Wild Child" Andy
Bachetti, "The Corporate Jet" Brett Hearn and Ferrier were making more moves
than a furniture truck as they steered their way into contention. Current Accord
point leader Hearn, who was seeking his 799th career win, was impressive in his
drive to the front from his fifteenth starting position as he used a series of
superior moves to race into the top five by the midway point of the event.
Higbie was equally as impressive as his recent switch to small block power
proved to be a strategic move in his efforts to attempt to track down Hearn in
his quest for a third straight track title. Bachetti used every inch of Accord
track soil to work his way forward and provided quite a show when in the late
stages of the event proved to have the fastest race car in Ulster County. With
five laps remaining Ruggiero hit a snag in lapped traffic and Tyler and Gang
came a calling as the top six were running under a blanket in the run for the
roses. "The Razor" didn't waiver and raced his RW Construction sponsored racer
to the $2,000.00 prized offered up by the speedway. Tyler was a close second
with Bachetti passing until the end to come up with a fine third place run.
Higbie was fourth and Hearn completed the top five running order. Ferrier,
driver of the week Jeff Heotzler, Michael Storms, Bob Hentschel and Richie
Eurich completed the top ten finishers.
The Camper's Barn Sportsman event again proved to be a two part story and a
heartbreaking story was encountered for the first portion. Kenny Ferrier was at
his best as he grabbed the lead from rookie Randy Green at the drop of the green
and found the speedway to his liking as he had a perfect race car to dance away
from the field in the early stages of the event. Vinny DeCicco started from
fourth position and took off after Ferrier and after the tenth lap was able to
nose his way underneath Ferrier at times but was unable to complete the pass for
the lead. With the race nearing the five to go mark, DeCicco went all out in his
efforts to gain the lead and connected with Ferrier in turn three and Ferrier
shot across the racetrack and made a hard hit with the unforgiving Redi Rock
International fencing. The brilliant run by Ferrier ended and DeCicco was placed
to the rear of the bus for the infraction. Anthony Perrego inherited the lead
after the mishap and raced to his second win in the last three events at the
speedway. Jesse Marks was the runner-up with hard riding Kevin Ward in for third
in a late great drive that had the "Dirty Dog" Darrell Ford in fourth and Greg
McCloskey rounding out the top five.
The Healey Brother's Group Spec Sportsman feature attraction found first year
Accord competitor Kevin Smith leading the first five laps before yielding to the
defending track champion "The Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner. Rohner started
eighth in the twenty lap event and quickly found a smooth and tacky basement
surface to his liking as ate up vast chunks of real estate to close in behind
Smith before seizing control of the point. Once in front Rohner opened up the
distance to go and capture his fifth win of the season at the Accord speedplant.
Matt Hitchcock utilized a late rally to finish up in the runner-up role and
likewise for "Tommy Gun" Tommy Johnson who rallied late to secure a third place
finish. Kevin Smith was fourth in his best run to date as the youngster improves
with each outing and "Hollywood" Whitey Slavin rallied from deep in the pack to
round out the top five.
The DC Landscaping Pro Stock feature found Clarence Smith leading the first
three laps until he slid up the raceway in turn three to allow Pat Zimmer to
slip by with the lead. Zimmer, a four time winner in 2011, checked out on the
field through the midpoint of the event while the Ford powered machine of John
Roese kept pace after the final restart. Zimmer scored win number five of the
season and continues on with his drive towards a track championship. Roese was
the runner-up with Tom Vasta using a late rally to claim third place. Making his
first appearance of the 2011 racing season, Larry Temple proved he was at the
top of his game as he finished fourth and another recent addition to the field
Dan Rion completed the top five.
Gary Predmore was the early leader in the Arkel Motors Pure Stock main event and
led through the first 13 laps of the twenty lap encounter. John Woinoski, who
started from seventh starting position, eased his way though the field and
tailed Predmore until Predmore bobbled a bit off the second turn and Woinoski
closed in. Coming off the fourth turn, Woinoski pulled up even and then sped
into the lead as he lowered the boom on Predmore. Once in front, Woinoski proved
to have a fast hot rod as he raced away to his second straight win in the Knoth
owned Village Grille sponsored racer. Gary Predmore was second in a great drive
with Ray Tarantino finishing up third in yet another racer at the speedway. Mike
Deyo was fourth in the Wright owned race car and Joe Narok completed the top
five.
MUDPLUGS:
The good friends from Royal King Dry Cleaners were the headline sponsor for the
evening and proudly displayed their company's logo in the Lucas Oil Products
Winners Circle after each feature event. The Royal King team offered discount
certificates to all of the drivers in competition to have their driving suits
dry cleaned by the experts from the Royal King team. The visiting group from
Royal King was very impressed with the pristine Accord facility.
Announcer and racing competitor Joel Murns returned to the announcing booth on
Friday evening. Murns, who had scored his first win at Accord recently, was
injured in a racing mishap at the Orange County facility a couple of weeks ago
and still shows some battle scars from the incident that destroyed the race car
he was utilizing for duty at Accord.
Heat races were run off quickly and Sportsman heat wins went to John Howell and
Ken Ferrier. Kevin Smith and Tommy Johnson captured the Spec Sportsman heat
events. Modified heats were claimed by Robbie Green, Scott Ferrier and Clinton
Mills. Pro Stock heats were claimed by John Roese and Pat Zimmer and the Pure
Stock division in lieu of heat events, ran a twenty lap feature event.
Jim Jeffers was on hand from the Three Wide Media Group to hype the recently
penned article by speedway media correspondent Steve Pados regarding the Accord
Speedway in the current August edition of the Dirt Modified Magazine. The story
was well received by the Accord fans who saw the article for the first time and
Pados told the great crowd on hand he wrote the article as a tribute for the
Palmer Family who have invested so much time, effort and capital into making the
Accord Speedway the fabulous speedway it is today. For racing fans wishing to
obtain a copy of the magazine should go the magazine website at: http://www.threewidemedia.com
Longtime friend of the Palmer Family and former racer Brian Lynch was up from
the state of Florida to take in the great racing at Accord and to assist Gary
Palmer with a couple of projects at the speedway. Restaurant owner Gus Zygmunt
from the Crystal Inn in Warwick, New York was back at the speedway to take in
the action.
The Stone Ridge Fire Company was on hand to sell raffle tickets for their annual
fundraiser they are having in October through the courtesy of the Palmer Family.
Michael Storms stopped the clocks at 12.723 seconds for a lap during the hot
laps sessions that showed eleven drivers under the 13 second barrier as Promoter
Gary Palmer continues to work his magic to the racing surface that proved to be
tacky and smooth throughout the evening of events.

R & R MOTORSPORTS RACING NEWS
New Glarus, Wisconsin: "Showtime" Zack Riddle Goes After Win Number Two This
Evening At MIS
By Steve Pados, R&R Motorsports Racing Media
The R&R Motorsports Racing Team has enjoyed a successful pairing together in
2011 with driver "Showtime" Zack Riddle at the controls and two weeks ago saw
the fruition of their hard work and determination take a step forward as the
"Showtime Kid" seized control of the Late Model main event last week on the 24th
go around and then drove away from the field to capture the prestigious Bobb
Schmelzer 50-lap feature attraction at the Madison International Speedway. The
win was the first for the team that was formed at the beginning of the new
season and will head back to the Madison facility under a full head of steam to
attempt to make it two in a row as the racing goes green this evening at the
speedway. The R&R Motorsports Team is a continuation of the successful Urban
Force Racing program that was launched in 2007 to give students a chance to
learn about the working facets of race cars while being educated to become
automotive technicians through their school cirriculum.
Two weeks ago at Madison, Riddle was a rocket all evening long as once again he
timed second quickest for the event. Riddle began from mid-pack in the 50-lap
main event and quick to move once the racing went green. Riddle had a ringside
eat as John Baumeister and Kevin Knuese went head to head in the early stages of
the racing action. "The Comet" Baumeister was able to move out front to a safe
advantage in the early stages and the action behind him was incredible as one by
one the contenders were finding their way forward. Riddle moved into fourth by
lap ten and kept picking off cars until he was the runner-up when a caution came
out on lap-24 halting the racign action. On the restart it was showtime as
Riddle raced into the lead and took control of the event and led the remaining
laps on his way to his first win of the season at MIS and the first win for the
R&R Motorsports Team as a racing unit. Jeremy Miller was the runner-up with
Scott Broughton in third, Dale Nottestad in fourth and Ryan Goldade completing
the top five. The second five consisted of Bobby Wilberg, John Baumeister,
Nathan Oppliger, Scott McGettigan and Chad Stevens.
Coming into the Friday night racing action, Riddle is currently ranked in the
top five in the MIS points system. Defending track champion Jeremy Miller once
again heads up the points is out front at mid-season with 681 points earned.
Scott Broughton is the current runner-up with 618 markers and Zack Riddle has
charged into third place with 601 points earned. Dale Nottestad is currently
fourth with 598 points earned. Bobby Wilberg rounds out the top five with 594
tallies. Kevin Knuese and Ryan Goldade are tied with 474 points each, Ty Majeski
with 472 markers, Ed Szelagowski with 391 and Nathan Oppliger with 389 points
round out the top ten in a very tight points race in 2011 racing season thus far
at Madison.
The pairing of Riddle with Urban Force Racing in 2010 brought a great deal of
success to everyone in their initial season of competing together as a team and
the instant chemistry and friendship shared by everyone involved with the team
has put the newly developed R&R Motorsports Team front and center with the
student manned racing team. The plan remains for the team to go after two series
titles in 2011 with the Madison International Speedway Late Model Title and the
Big 8 Series Title the goals the team will be seeking to claim at the end of the
season. The initial season of the successful pairing in 2010 had Riddle
finishing third in the final points tally for the season at the Madison
International Speedway and just 21 points shy of the point title captured by
Jeremy Miller, who defeated Bobby Wilberg by a single digit to claim the
speedway title. The finish made it two times in succession that Zack wound up
third in the final tallies, but his consistent runs in 2010 and gave Zack an
outside chance for the title on the final night of competition at the speedway.
In limited appearances in Big 8 Series competition, Zack finished a respectable
12th place in the final standings but will be looking to compete in all events
in the upcoming 2011 racing season.
Zack Riddle has raised the bar in his career each step of the way as he began
his racing career in 2000 at the age of ten in the go kart divisions and raced
with them successfully until the end of the 2003 racing season. In 2004, Riddle
took his first ride in a Late Model type race car and ran an aborted season,
competing in just six events at the Madison International Speedway. Riddle began
to run the Late Model division as a regular in 2005 and has been a fixture at
the speedway ever since, winning his first feature at MIS in 2006. When the
Madison track ran Super Late Models in 2008, Riddle was selected as the Rookie
of the Year in the now defunct division. Riddle was also named the fan's
favorite driver in 2009, a title he also captured in 2006 and adding to his
"Showtime" nickname.
While Urban Force Racing now makes the transition to R&R Motorsports Team, the
group enjoyed a great history in motorsports since launching the initial program
in 2007 and has sought to improve upon their marks each succeeding year in
racing. Team Manager Pete Raskovic moves into a new role as co-owner of the race
team along with Crew Chief Steve Riddle. Raskovic who with the late ABC Supply
owner Ken Hendricks was able to forge ahead with the launching of the initial
program, has been the mainstay of the student oriented racing team is quite
proud of the success of the many students who have been educated within the
Urban Force Racing Team program.
The unique concept of teaching students the inner workings of a race car along
with all of the technical background in automotive technology, sets the Urban
Force program apart from the typical normal school day. The students are hands
on and work with a purpose as the program is the model for similar technical
programs across the country. The new student team for the 2011 racing season
consists Michael Raskovic, Jesse Tanner and Bryant Williams and the students
will be paired with the existing R&R/Urban Force Team members that include Team
Manager Pete Raskovic, Crew Chief Steve Riddle, Wes Arndt, Brett Guschinki,
County Judge James Beer. Sponsorship for the new R&R Motorsports Team is
provided by Diane Hendricks at ABC Supply Co. Additional sponsorship support
comes from Homberg Inc., Morgan Shoes, Keystone Farms Natural Cheese, Welders
Supply Company, GA Motorsports Media and CARQUEST Gasoline Alley, Vince's
Italian Restaurante, Big Radio WEKZ, Monroe WI.

WITH THE GOVERNMENT HAVING BIG DEFICITS THE IRS COULD BE CHECKING ON YOUR
SPONSORSHIP AND “HOBBY LOSSES”
LANGHORNE, PA August 5, 2011 . . . For years there have been racers using their
auto racing losses to reduce their individual and company tax liabilities and it
has gone pretty much unnoticed.
Now the government has huge deficits and are starting to pay more attention to things that went unnoticed in the past. Don’t be surprised to find a notice from the IRS (International Revenue Service) that you are being audited especially if you fall into the “hobby racer” category.
Attorney Michael K. Spotts, licensed in the State of Florida, has written a two part article for Ernie Saxton’s Motorsports Sponsorship Marketing News that offers some advice on the IRS, what tax issues you should know about, what type of legal entity you should use and more. The two part article started with Issue 3 of MSMN. The second part is included in Issue 4 coming out this month.
There is important information included that relates to sponsorship.
Sponsorship expert Milt Gedo, often referred to as Mr. Sponsorship, offers “New Methods To Achieve The Same Goals (in sponsorship).” Columnist Scott Pacich talks about abusing technology and there are facts and figures on Kyle Busch leading the mid-season TV ratings for all NASCAR drivers. Apparently being a bad boy has rewards.
Ken Willis, the outstanding columnist for the Daytona News Journal offers “Revolving Sponsors Sign of the Economy.”
In addition there is quite a bit of news on a variety of sponsorship deals that have been finalized recently.
The newsletter, published by sponsorship expert Ernie Saxton, is now in its 26th year.
Subscriptions are presently available for just $39.95 (regular price is $59.95) and while the supply lasts we will be glad to include copies of Issue 3 and 4, containing the tax information, free with your new subscription. JEFF STRUNK WINS CHAD SINON/BPG MOTORSPORTS 14TH ANNUAL TRAFFIC JAM THURSDAY
NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY POCKETS $8,500 FOR THE WIN
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series lost to Mother Nature on
Wednesday but battle back on Thursday night to present the Chad Sinon/BPG
Motorsports 14th Annual TRAFFIC JAM. This popular event that started in 1998 has
taken place at Grandview Speedway for fourteen consecutive years and the Thunder
Series promotional team was not about to lose this event to bad weather. Jeff
Strunk driving the Norm Hansell modified took the win in the TRAFFIC JAM and
collected $8,500 as the top prize. Brett Hearn was the early race leader with
Strunk taking the lead on lap twenty-one. The race was far from over as Duane
Howard driving the BPG Motorsports modified moved into second on lap
thirty-nine. Howard staged a hard fought battle and pulled alongside race leader
Jeff Strunk on several occasions. Howard was making up ground using the outside
lane but Strunk quickly realized the outside lane was the fast way around
Grandview and switched grooves. Strunk managed to put some distance between
himself and Howard in the final laps to collect the win. In the forty lap
Sportsman feature, Jared Umbenhauer won a thriller over Sammy Piazza, Rocco
Infante and Brad Brightbill.
Race of Champions Modified heat winners include Jeff Strunk, Ryan Watt, Butch
Tittle and Brett Hearn as the consolation events were won by Matt Sheppard and
Billy Decker.
Brett Hearn a four time winner of the TRAFFIC JAM started on the pole in the
sixty lap feature event and set the pace at the drop of the green flag. Jimmy
Horton followed in second and on lap ten, Horton made a bid for the lead. Hearn
fought back and held the top spot as the leaders were now coming up on slower
traffic. Two laps later, Jeff Strunk and Duane Howard passed Horton and set
their sights on the leader.
By lap fourteen, Strunk was now in a battle with Hearn for the lead, nosing
slightly ahead on lap fifteen. Strunk had to ease off the battle with Hearn as
Duane Howard was now offering a challenge for second on lap seventeen. On lap
twenty, Hearn remained the leader followed by Strunk, Howard, Jimmy Horton and
Doug Manmiller. On lap twenty-one Jeff Strunk became the new leader although
Brett Hearn continued to fight back for the top spot.
A scary point of the race took place on lap twenty-nine when a multi-car
homestretch crash brought out the red flag. MeMe DeSantis sustained the most
damage after his modified flipped into the homestretch fencing, damaging two
poles and tearing down a large section of the debris fence. DeSantis was not
injured but the car badly damaged. The damage to the fence was so extensive,
repairs could not be made so all spectators were required to move from the
entire section A seating area of the grandstands.
Racing action did resume with Strunk on the point followed by Hearn, Jimmy
Horton and Duane Howard. Just two laps later, Jimmy Horton pulled to the
sidelines eliminating his chance of a repeat TRAFFIC JAM win.
On lap thirty-seven, Duane Howard made his way by Hearn and set his sights on
the leading Strunk. On lap forty-five, Howard was now in a position to challenge
Strunk for the lead and the battle was now set. Howard made a bid for the lead
going down the backstretch and the two cars touched while racing side-by=side.
After the contact, Strunk maintained the lead but Howard lost some ground after
brushing the backstretch wall. Strunk moved to the high groove as Howard tried
once again to reel in the leader.
Howard ran out of time to catch Strunk and the checker flag fell with the win
going to Jeff Strunk. Howard ran a great race to finish second followed by Brett
Hearn, Danny Johnson earned fourth place money with Doug Manmiller fifth.
In the 40 lap Race of Champions Sportsman feature, Jared Umbenhauer was the show
advancing some ten position to take the win. Joe Masiado was the early race
leader and set the pace until lap seventeen when Umbenhauer took the lead.
Deeper in the pack, the battle was tightening with James Cornell and Brad
Brightbill on a mission.
Joe Masiado found some new energy and was working his way back to the front,
moving into second lap twenty-eight. Masiado was closing in on Umbenhauer after
moving into second on lap twenty-eight.
Umbenhauer remained the man to beat and held off the last challenges of Sammy
Piazza who finished second followed by Rocco Infante, Brad Brightbill and James
Cornell.
Sportsman Heat winners were Brad Brightbill, James Cornell and Joe Masiado ad
Mike Mannama won the consolation.

BOBBY AND DANNY VARIN RACING NEWS
Sharon Springs, NY- Bobby Varin Remains Close In Speedway Point Battles
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Modified superstar Bobby Varin has had more than a few things go against him
during the first half of the 2011 racing season but the six time Fonda Speedway
Modified Champion has always emerged as one who takes the high road when racing
on the tough Northeast Modified circuit and with that great determination
remains near the front of the point standings at all of the speedways he calls
home in 2011. Bobby is going after his seventh speedway title at the Fonda
Speedway and currently holds a narrow one point lead over Ronnie Johnson going
into Saturday night's racing card. Bobby is resting in fourth place at the Glen
Ridge Speedway as he chases point leader Kenny Tremont who has now jumped out to
an eighty point over Bobby and two racers sandwiched between them. Bobby is
listed in third place at the Utica Rome Speedway behind Stewart Friesen and Pat
Ward and is ranked as the number two point man in the Thunder on the Thruway
Series a mere sixteen points behind leader Pat Ward. Bobby is also listed in the
top seven in ROC points in the last update of the series points.
Glen Ridge suffered a rainout last week and the current Glen Ridge Speedway
seasonal point standings show Kenny Tremont leading with 726 points earned with
Craig Hanson in second with 658 points to date. Jack Brown is third with 655
markers with Bobby Varin right behind in fourth with 646 tallies. Jamike Sowle
rounds out the top five with 599 points. The remainder of the top ten shows Elmo
Reckner, Paul Kinney, Lance Willix, Mike Ronca and Don Ronca following in that
order.
The Fonda Speedway racing had Bobby winning the 50-lap Thunder on the Thruway
series event to the tune of $5,000.00 on Wednesday night and following with a
seventh place finish for the regular Saturday night show. Bobby's win had Pat
Ward, Ronnie Johnson, Matt Sheppard and Brett Hearn following him across the
stripe. The Saturday night show at Fonda had Ryan Odasz winning with Ronnie
Johnson, Matt DeLorenzo, Craig Hanson and Rob Langevin completing the top five.
Varin continues to lead in the Fonda points chase with a narrow one point margin
584 to the 583 scored thus far by Ronnie Johnson. Ryan Odasz has jumped into
third with 524 tallies and Matt DeLorenzo is fourth with 516 points earned. Jeff
Trombley rounds out the top five with 497. Mark Kislowski is sixth with 480
tallies and Alton Palmer with 458, Jim Davis with 450, Elmo Reckner with 445 and
Danny Varin with 441 complete the top ten in points.
The Utica Rome events on Thursday and Sunday evenings found Bobby getting a
third place finish at the Thursday event behind winner Billy Decker and
runner-up Billy Trexler Jr and thern following up on the Sunday race with
another third place finish behind winner Stewart Friesen and runner-up Pat Ward.
The current point standings at Utica Rome show Stewart Friesen leading with 588
points with Pat Ward in second place with 526 tallies. Bobby Varin is third with
516 points and Todd Burley moving into fourth place with 494 points. Ronnie
Johnson completes the top five with 478 tallies. Bill Trexler Jr, Alan Johnson,
Willy Decker, Kenny Tremont and Jason Rood complete the top ten.
Billy Decker leads the current ROC points with 362 with Stewart Friesen as the
runner-up with 316 points. Jeff Strunk with 306, Danny Johnson with 299, Matt
Sheppard with 290, Pat Ward with 273 and Bobby Varin with 254 complete the top
seven in the traveling series. Pat Ward is leading the Thunder on the Thruway
Series with 178 points to Bobby Varin's and Stewart Friesen's totals of 162.
Billy Decker and Matt Sheppard round out the top five in the series.
Bobby is geared and ready to defend the Fonda track title he captured for the
sixth time in his illustrious career in 2010. Bobby will be going after his
fourth title in a row at Fonda and once again will be steering the famous 00
race cars of legendary car owner Dave Cruickshank and his Dover Brake business.
Cruickshank has two cars readied for Bobby for the 2011 season with both of the
race cars coming out of the Bicknell shops and powered by JPM motors. Son Danny
has returned to the seat of the Ed Monger owned Magsarus sponsored hot rod in
2011. Danny had a pervious stint in the race car two seasons ago. The race
machine is out of the Teo Shops and will carry a Gary Waters powerplant to
supply the power to the rear wheels. Danny raced hard all of last season and
remained in the top five in points for most of the campaign until he too was
bitten by mechanical failures that dropped him to eleventh place when the points
chase ended.
Bobby will once again be aboard the Marv Pedrick/Andy Romano owned racer for his
battles at Glen Ridge. A new race car out of the Bicknell Shops will have a
selection of Pat Morrison or Jeff Boyd powerplants to choose from for the racing
action and the car may be utilized for select additional events later in the
season. Bobby will join forces with Ken Saya and the Commercial Roofing Team for
all big shows and the ROC Dirt Series. A brand new race car was in place for the
team at Syracuse and was later utilized for the Eastern States race at Orange
County and World Finals races at Charlotte where Bobby landed a pair of sixth
place finishes on National TV. Another Bicknell car is in the stable and will
compliment the team with Morrison and Kevlar powerplants supplying the go-power.
Bobby has also enjoyed his entry into the world of sprint car racing and once
again will find the Pete Demitraszek sprinter available to him for select
excursions where Bobby can pull off double duty at the facilities. Danny Varin
tried his hand at sprint car racing last season and enjoyed his time in the seat
and he too will find some time behind the wheel of the 305 Cuomo Sprinter at
select events in the area.
Bobby has enjoyed a great career in the annals of racing. He is a past winner of
the season ending classic Eastern States event held at the Orange County Fair
Speedway having won the event in 2003 with a spectacular performance to claim
the victory, a win that remains high on the list of achievements in the
illustrious career of Bobby Varin. Bobby has also captured two New Yorker
triumphs in recent years at the Utica Rome Speedway. In 2008 Bobby won the event
in a 200 lap version and this past year won again this time leading every lap in
a shortened version 100-lap grind in the curtain closer at the speedway. Even
larger for Bobby in 2011 will be a couple of benchmarks in his racing career.
Bobby currently ranks in seventh place among the all-time features winners at
the Fonda Fairgrounds with 47 wins having surpassed the legendary Bill Wimble
this past season who owned 43 wins to his credit. Former Fonda greats Mike
Romano with 48 wins, Pete Corey with 50 wins and Kenny Shoemaker with 54 wins
are next in line and Bobby is hoping for a stellar season to slide past this
legendary trio of great competitors.
The Varin team continues to seek the same winning formula for success they
enjoyed in 2010. The car owner for the Varin Team is the legendary Dave
Cruickshank and the hard working team is headed up by Crew Chief John Bakuzonis,
and crew members Dave Cross, Jeff Preston, Tyler Preston, Jack Hanna, Bob Gray
and Garret Sagatis. With additional cars in the stable for Varin with the
Commercial Roofing entry and the Romano/Pedrick machine, the 2011 season ahead
will be full of racing excitement from beginning to end.
The Varin Family credits much of their success to their fine group of sponsors
who continue to support their racing efforts. Dover Brake, Joe Bertothy Racing,
JSB Fabrications, Countryman CARQUEST, Land Designs, Supply Wagon Rentals,
Corigliano Towing, Leslie Home Improvement, GA Motorsports Media and Boys Club
of America have all been solid in their support of the Varin racing efforts and
encourage the racing community to support all of these fine sponsors whenever
they have the capacity to do so. The Varin Team also welcomes new sponsor Jeff
Bristol Trucking to the fine list of sponsors for the team. Bobby and Danny
Varin would like to thank their their loyal fan base for the strong support in
the past and look for continued support into the 2011 racing season and beyond.
More updates will follow shortly for the Varin Racing team efforts. Follow the
success of the 00 and 93 Varin Racing Team at their respective websites with all
of the latest updates and information at: http://www.bobbyvarin.com or http://www.dannyvarin.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series
RYAN BERNAL BREAKS THROUGH AT SANTA MARIA
By Lance Jennings
SANTA MARIA, CA – AUGUST 2, 2011... After scoring multiple runner-up finishes
throughout the season, Hollister's Ryan Bernal won his first career USAC West
Coast 360 Sprint Car Series feature last Saturday night at Santa Maria Speedway.
The young driver escaped a fierce battle with veteran Danny Faria Jr. through
the early laps and secured the lead on the third circuit. In dominating fashion,
Bernal stretched out his advantage and faced a tense moment on lap nineteen
after contact with slower traffic. Unfazed, Ryan led the rest of the way to
score the 30-lap main event victory. Faria, Richard VanderWeerd, Davey Pombo,
and Dennis Howell rounded out the top five finishers.
Piloting Danny Olmstead's #11D S&S Automotive / Dorso's Automotive Maxim, Ryan
Bernal was fifth quick in time trials and scored third in his heat race. By
virtue of a four pill drawn for the main event inversion and a faster qualifier
missing a top four finish in his heat, the former Wingless Spec Sprint Champion
inherited the pole position. Bernal made the most of the opportunity and was not
to be denied on this night. Now third in the point chase, Ryan has two heat race
victories, six top-10 finishes, and leads the series with seventy-nine feature
laps led.
After leading the first two laps of the feature, "Hollywood" Danny Faria Jr.
settled for a second place finish. Driving Junior Bowman's #2 Buster & Ziggy
Enterprises / Kaeding Performance Bullet, Faria qualified third fast and
finished second in his heat race. Currently fourth in the standings, "Hollywood"
has one feature win, two Sander Engineering Fast Time Awards, three heat race
victories, five top-10 finishes, and had led thirty-two feature laps on the
season.
Visalia's Richard VanderWeerd drove the family owned #10 VanderWeerd
Construction / Battery Worx Maxim to third place in the 30-lap main event.
Earlier in the program, the series point leader earned his third Sander
Engineering Fast Time Award of the season and scored second in his heat race. To
date, Richard holds a seventy-one point advantage over his twin brother Jace
with one feature win, three heat race victories, eight top-10 finishes, and
seventeen feature laps led to his credit.
Davey Pombo of Kerman had one of his best finishes of the year with a fourth
place run. Piloting the Joey Eames #3E Eames Trucking / Cool Hand Luke's Saloon
Maxim, Pombo qualified seventh quick on the night and was fourth in his heat
race. Last year's Southwest Contractors 360 Clash Champion is twelfth in points
with one Keizer Wheels Semi-Main win and five top-10 finishes in 2011.
Dennis Howell of Rancho Palos Verdes earned the night's Keizer Wheels Hard
Charger / Best Passing Job honors with a fifth place run after starting
thirteenth. Driving the family owned #62 San Pedro Auto Body / Howell-Meyer
Racing #62 Maxim, Howell was fourth fast in time trials and fifth in his heat
race. Dennis is currently eighth in the point standings with two heat race
victories and six top-10 finishes on the year.
Fresno's T.J. Smith won the night's 10-lap Extreme Mufflers Heat Race #1.
Piloting Steve LeGras' #14 UHL Rubber / S&S Automotive Maxim, Smith was
thirteenth quick on the night and eighth in the feature. The defending Santa
Maria track champion is ninth in series points with one Sander Engineering Fast
Time Award, two heat race victories, and three top-10 finishes on the season.
"Wide Open" Wes Gutierrez of San Martin won his series leading fourth heat race
by taking the Saldana Racing Products / Keizer Wheels sponsored event. Driving
the WG Motorsports' #007 Competition Suspension Inc. / ButlerBuilt DRC,
Gutierrez qualified eighth fast in time trials and finished sixth in the
feature. Currently fifth in the points, the young hard charger has six top-10
finishes in the 2011 campaign.
Jace VanderWeerd of Visalia won the DJ Safety Heat Race #3. Piloting the family
owned #88 VanderWeerd Construction / Battery Worx Maxim, Jace was fifteenth fast
on the night and seventh in the main event. Sitting second in points,
VanderWeerd has one feature win, eight top-10 finishes, and led fourteen feature
laps on the season.

HAMLIN SPEEDWAY NEWS
Hamlin, PA - Racing Legend Bill Wimble Will Make Guest Appearance At Hamlin
Speedway On Saturday
by: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Hamlin Speedway Promoters Randy and Denise Smith, through the efforts of
Speedway media correspondent Steve Pados, will welcome one the legendary
Modified racers of all-time "The Flying Dairy Farmer" Bill Wimble to the
speedway grounds this coming Saturday. Bill is a legendary former two-time
NASCAR Sportsman Champion having earned the titles in 1960 and 1961 and since
Bill will be in the Pocono Mountains for the upcoming NASCAR race weekend, Pados
put the pieces in place with the Smith Family to have Bill make a special
appearance at the speedway on Saturday as part of the big show the speedway has
planned this weekend. With another edition of the NASCAR Crew Challenge being
part of the racing program of the show, the appearance of the one of the
all-time great drivers of our adds special significance to the already great
racing programs held at Hamlin. Wimble, who in conjunction with author Lew Boyd
at Coastal 181 tells the journey of his storied life in his best selling book
"I'll Never Be Last Again", will be signing and selling the books at the event
from approximately 4:30 in the afternoon. Along with Bill in this special
appearance will be former Utica Rome Speedway owner and promoter Dick Waterman.
Waterman owned the New York based speedway for a fifteen year span from the mid
60's until mid 80's when the track was pavement and carried a NASCAR sanction
and had all of the top dogs of the day racing at his speedway.
Bill Wimble resided in upstate New York and that is where he began his journey
in racing. After close to twenty years and 250 wins behind the wheel of a race
car, Wimble retired from the sport after a horriffic accident at the Lebanon
Valley Speedway where he was crowned the speedway champion in 1968 with more
than a month remaining in the season. Wimble on to become a very successful
businessman and owned more than 25 businesses in his very successful foray into
the business world. Wimble was a 14-time track champion at eight different
speedways in his illustrious racing career with five of those titles coming at
the famous Fonda Fairgrounds. Wimble captured wins at many of the speedways of
the day and although he belonged to the NASCAR organization, traveled into the
Lehigh Valley area to compete at Harmony, Reading, Nazareth, Flemington and
Nazareth National Speedways and made his presence known at every speedway where
he competed. Wimble was the NASCAR Sportman Champion in consecutive seasons in
both 1960 and 1961, was the New York State champion on five occasions and was
the Connecticut State champion twice. Bill was among five additional friends
that rescued Marvin Panch from his burning Maserati in 1963 at the Daytona
International Speedway and for their heroics received the prestigious Carnegie
Bronze Medal for Bravery. Wimble is a member of many motorsports Hall of Fames
regarding his racing exploits and was honored by AARN as one of the top 25
Modified drivers of all-time. Wimble drove for many owners in his illustrious
driving career but most fans will always pair him with the famous Dave McCredy
owned, Fred DeCarr wrenched signatured numbered 33 cars of black, white and red
paint schemes. Wimble also did a short stint with legendary car owner Paul
Deasey of 707 fame at some of the local speedways mentioned above.
The book will be on sale at the speedway for $20.00 and Bill will personally
sign each copy at the speedway. Bill was a Monday evening guest on the popular
CARQUEST Gasoline Alley TV/Internet Program and remarked he is looking forward
to meeting an entire new era of the racing community. Co-host on the show, Ed
Pados, had this to say in regards to Bill Wimble by stating, "Bill Wimble is
truly a gentleman of racing and the legend of the man is pure fact. We have had
the opportunity to have Bill on the show, see him at racing functions and have
enjoyed the capacity of breaking bread with him and through each experience have
learned more and more about this incredible man. He was the ultimate racer and
my brother Steve and I are honored to be able to consider him a close friend".
Along with Bill Wimble and Dick Waterman, the always popular NASCAR Crew
Challenge will be part of the racing card. Since the June appearance was rained
out, these part-time demons of speed will be coming in full bore ready to don
the racing gear and entertain the racing fans. While the sparks always fly at
each gathering, this event will carry the bragging rights a win at the speedway
will bring to them and last throughout the winter months. An excerpt from last
season's Press Release tells the tale when these warriors go head to head in a
Slingshot Race car. The storyline stated, "The NASCAR Crew Challenge had Kevin
White and Todd Carmichael trading the lead back and forth with Mike Williams
until Williams found himself facing traffic with a spin. On the restart it was
White and Carmichael continuing to duke it out for speedway bragging rights with
White prevailing and Carmichael a close second. Adam Keisler was silently doing
a great job and was in for third place with Carter Fischlein charging late to
gain a fourth place finish and Sean Kerlin racing to fifth. John Hunter Nemechek
was sixth with Mares Stellfox in seventh. David Cropps, Mike Williams, Brad
Tunney, Jeff Handwerk and Bob Decker completed the notables on hand for the
event.

By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
The Midweek Madness racing program scheduled for this evening at the Accord
Speedway has been postponed until next Wednesday, August 10th. The speedway
began taking on water somewhere in the 2 PM area and with the surrounding area
also being hit with thunderstorms, the Palmer Family felt the best decision was
to cancel the show adn give the teams and the fans plenty of time to make
alternate plans for the remainder of the evening. The next event on the Accord
Speedway racing calendar will take place this coming Friday evening when the
Palmer Family hopes to get back on track and present a five division show headed
up by the VP Fuels/Rhinebeck Ford Modified Division going to war for the
$2,000.00 payday on the line for the victor. The evening of events will also see
the return of the popular annual Camera and Autograph Night as part of the

season boiling down to the final four shows for Midweek Madness, the race teams

the opportunity to make a bid for the track title in one of the many divisions
for Midweek Madness.
Friday night racing at Accord runs from April through September with six great
divisions going to war on the Accord high banks. This week, Royal King Dry

Qualifying Struggles Hamper Chub Frank’s Efforts During World of Outlaws Late
Model Series Swing Through Western Pennsylvania
BEAR LAKE, PA – Aug. 2, 2011 – Chub Frank found himself searching for answers to
his season-long qualifying struggles after last week’s three-race World of
Outlaws Late Model Series swing through his home state of Pennsylvania.
Unfortunately, the 49-year-old veteran from Bear Lake, Pa., wasn’t able to
immediately come up with a solution.
“I wish I knew what we have to do to qualify better,” said Frank, whose
10th-place finish in the 50-lap A-Main on Sunday night at Eriez Speedway in
Hammett, Pa., was his best of the WoO LMS tripleheader in the Keystone State.
“We’re just missing something and I don’t know what it is. We have to qualify
better if we expect to get anywhere.”
The annual WoO LMS stop at Eriez exemplified Frank’s frustration. He
time-trialed 23rd out of 36 cars and struggled in his heat race, forcing him to
make a last-lap pass in a B-Main to earn the final transfer spot to the feature.
Saddled with the 22nd starting spot, ‘Chubzilla’ made a steady march forward to
finish a respectable 10th – no one passed more cars – but that didn’t satisfy
him.
“We went back to some stuff that we used to do for the feature and the car was
better,” Frank said of his Corry Rubber/Hino Toyota/Horton Equipment Rocket No.
1*. “But this qualifying is just putting us in a hole too much.
“I guess somebody told me they were paying like $50,000 to win the (WoO LMS
DirtonDirt.com) Hard Charger points,” joked Frank, who does indeed lead the Hard
Charger standings that reward the driver who gains the most positions in World
of Outlaws A-Mains this season. “I’d rather start further toward the front so we
don’t keep gaining so many spots in every race.”
Frank’s week started on July 26 at Dog Hollow Speedway in Strongstown, Pa.,
where he qualified 12th-fastest and transferred through a heat to start 12th in
the ‘Laurel Highlands 40.’ He treaded water during the feature, finishing 13th
in the first-ever WoO LMS event at the four-tenths-mile oval.
One night later Frank timed 18th-fastest and again qualified through a heat at
McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pa. He started 18th in the ‘Penn Gold
40’ but couldn’t make any headway, coming home 15th at the finish in front of a
standing-room-only crowd.
Frank ended the swing ranked seventh in the points standings, 260 points behind
leader Rick Eckert.
There’s no rest for Frank and his team this week as they head to the Upper
Midwest for three WoO LMS events, beginning on Wednesday night (Aug. 3) at
Shawano (Wis.) Speedway. Then it’s off to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond,
Wis., for the 24th annual USA Nationals presented by U.S. Steel (a $5,000-to-win
Cornbelt Clash Series race on Thurs., Aug. 4, leads into the $50,000-to-win USA
Nationals on Aug. 5-6), and the swing concludes with a rain-postponed WoO LMS
50-lapper for $10,000 to win on Mon., Aug. 8, at Independence (Iowa) Speedway.

William Thomas Claims Michael Head Jr. Memorial Win
Phenix City, Alabama (08/02/11) - William Thomas continued his strong season on
Saturday night by powering his #22 Extreme Power Sports/Mastersbilt/Lamar Hunt
Racing Engine Super Late Model to the victory in the 14th Annual Michael Head
Jr. Memorial.
After a relaxing week on the beach the team returned to action with the Southern
All Stars Series on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama)
for the 14th Annual Michael Head Jr. Memorial. Twenty-nine Super Late Models
entered the event, and in time trials William qualified 8th fastest to lock into
the 8th starting spot for the $5,400-to-win feature.
As the feature went green, William would waste little time racing his way to the
lead as he moved past early leader, Billy Ogle Jr. As the race progressed Ogle
Jr. would make another run at Thomas for the lead, but William would go on to
drive away from the field on his way to the biggest Super Late Model win of his
career in just his second night out in the team's new Mastersbilt car. Tim Busha,
Billy Ogle Jr., Brandon Kinzer, and Terry Smith rounded out the top five in the
54 lap event. The win was his second career Super Late Model win, and by far his
biggest payday in the division!
With the win Thomas further extended his lead in the series' overall standings
and rookie standings. Full results are available at
www.DirtOnDirt.com.
The upcoming weekend, August 4th-6th, will be a busy time for William and the
team, as he intends to enter three events in three days. On Thursday night he
will travel to North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, GA) for a $5,000-to-win,
unsanctioned event. Friday night will find Thomas in action at Boyds Speedway
(Ringgold, GA) in a $3,000-to-win, Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS)
program. On Saturday evening he will conclude the weekend with a $5,000-to-win,
Southern All Stars (SAS) event at Cleveland Speedway (Cleveland, Tennessee).

Ronny Lee Hollingsworth Charges to Whynot Triumph
Northport, Alabama (08/02/11) – Ronny Lee Hollingsworth returned to the scene of
the crime on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, where he had claimed his
first win of the year a month earlier, and would power his #18 Flynn
Motorsports/ Warrior/Clement Racing Engine Super Late Model to his second win of
the season at the facility.
Ronny Lee Hollingsworth opened his doubleheader weekend on Friday night as he
invaded North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) for the 1st Annual Shoals
Shootout 50, which posted a $5,000-to-win purse for the Super Late Model
division. A field of 36 cars entered the unsanctioned event, and Hollingsworth
would start the night on a high note by setting fast time in his group and
overall to earn the pole position for the 50 lap feature in front of a huge
crowd. Ronny Lee would lead the opening laps of the feature, and looked to have
a good shot to claim the win before getting crossed up in the corner and
spinning from the lead. He would go on to retire from the event to a 17th place
finish. Full results are available at
www.NorthAlabamaSpeedway.com.
Saturday night found the team at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi)
in a $2,500-to-win, Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS), as
Ronny Lee looked for redemption from Friday night's disappointment. He would be
successful in his pursuit. With 22 Super Late Models on hand, Hollingsworth
locked into the seventh starting spot for the feature via time trials and the
dash. He would quickly work his way to the front of the field and went on to
fight off the advances of Chris Wall and David Breazeale to claim his second win
of the year at the facility and his second win overall of 2011. Hollingsworth
was followed across the line by Wall, Breazeale, Steve Bryan, and Keith Miller.
Full results are available at

Steve Fox and Universe Racing Set for Pocono ARCA 125
Berwick, PA (August 2, 2011)- The hard work in the garage is a thing of the past
and the #50 Universe Towing/FireHouse Dodge Charger that Steve Fox of Hazelton,
PA competes with in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is ready to hit
the tri oval at Pocono International Raceway in the Pennsylvania ARCA 125 this
Saturday.
Just weeks ago, it was announced that Fox’s car was not ready for the first
Pocono event and he ended up piloting a machine owned by Wayne Peterson. The
track time that day was crucial for Fox and he’s more than excited about the
125-mile event coming this weekend.
“To say I’m excited about this race is an understatement”, noted Fox. “We’ve
spent so much time preparing the car for this race since the beginning of the
season and I’m very happy where we’re at right now”.
He continued, “The car has been gone over multiple times by the great crew of
guys that we have at Universe Racing, we’ve repaired damage, updated the nose
and threw a good setup underneath the car- we’ll be fine come Saturday”.
Despite not running the Universe Racing entry in the first Pocono event, Fox is
thrilled with the support that the team has heading into this weekend.
“Our sponsors and supports stood behind us, which I feel is terrific. They are
all great to us and I’m very happy to be carrying decals showing the latest
FireHouse album, called “Full Circle”. Those guys have been awesome to work with
over the last two years with and even my 20 year old son thinks they’re albums
rock”.
Menards Pole Qualifying is set to kick off at 5:40 PM EST and the green flag is
scheduled to drop for the ARCA Pennsylvania 125 at 3:00 PM EST on Saturday. The
race will be aired live on SPEED.
