Sizzle Into Hamlin Speedway Winners Circle On S&S Speedway Night
by: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
A gentle breeze that spun through the grounds of the Hamlin Speedway late
Saturday afternoon gave hope for a more pleasant evening as the temperatures
continue to soar on the East Coast. The breeze stopped and the thoughts of
staying cool evaporated quickly but for the more than 125 racers who braved the
elements to go racing, it was business as usual as the Smith Family presented
their tenth racing card of the season at their 1/5 mile lightning quick
speedway. The late arriving crowd was treated to an excellent night of side by
side racing action throughout the evening as the new track surface held up well
during the eight feature event racing card that wrapped things up at 11 PM. When
the final event had been checkered, again some new faces emerged in the Hamlin
Speedway Winners Circle with "Double J" Jimmy Johnston overcoming his problems
from a week ago to nail down the win in the All Star Slingshot finale in a great
battle with "Chargin" Charlie Lawrence. Kyle "The Hot" Lick added his name to
the list of Wingless 600 winners when he rim rode his Terry's Drive Train
sponsored hot rod around the quality field of wingless stars to record his
inital win of the season. Jacob Dunn had the hot hand at the end as he weasled
his way through the best junior slingshot stars on the East Coast to land in
victory lane. Charlie Shaver scored in the Super Slinger event and "Lightning"
Larry Mekic scored in the Wingless 600 Rookie Encounter while Grady Johnston
enjoyed his trip to victory lane last week, the Connecticut youngster decided to
do it again in the rookie 270 main event. Another Connecticut hot show, CJ
Heinig, jumped into the lead at the start of the 270 Micro main to easily handle
all challengers on his way to a wire to wire triumph. Tommy Kunsman closed down
the show with a great run that had the 270 Micros going wingless in a very
entertaining and refreshing look at something different for the Micro racing
division. The racing was marred by a second lap accident in the 600 Micro main
that saw the "Incredible" Jonathan Hull slamming the homestretch fence and
getting upside down with cars scattering everywhere and Bill Shire getting
upside down near the end of the aftermath in the scary incident. Shire was alert
and talking to speedway officials as the ambulance took him to the hospital for
a precautionary check.
The evening of feature mains once again saw an exciting Junior Slingshot twenty
lap headliner with all of the drama and suspense of an Alfred Hitchcock movie.
"The Little Tornado" Zack Weisenfluh had the hot hand early in the event as he
flew the colors of his sponsor the US Air Force out and into the lead with "Thrillin"
Dylan Martin chasing him. Jacob Dunn and Thomas "Sunny' Strupp added to the
chase as the top four broke away from the field in a battle for the roses. Dunn
was able to find the zone and began to put pressure on Martin by the midway
point and finally was able to sneak on by. Weisenfluh was thorough as he hit his
marks on the raceway and continued to lead the event with Strupp also finding
his way past Martin. Dunn was far from over as he found some additional real
estate to traverse and eased his way past Weisenfluh to assume the lead. Once in
front Dunn moved out to a safe advantage as the checkered flag flew from starter
Russ Furry with Dunn securing the win over Weisenfluh, Strupp, Martin and Chris
Kurtz as the top five finishers.
Taylor Eccles, Kyle Gruber, Kevin Predmore, Cole Hentschel and Alison Kaminski
completed the top ten finishers.
The 25-lap headliner for the All Star Slingshot racersfound intense racing
throughout and as always the event proved to be another classic run in the
annals of the Hamlin Speedway history books. Jimmy Johnston out-gunned
polesitter "The Brass Section" John Bockhorn into the first turn with Bockhorn
in tow and trying to find a way around "Double J". Seven laps into the event
found Bockhorn slowing a bit and hard driving 2010 Empire Region Slingshot
Champion Charlie Lawrence three wheeling his Katonah-Attorney at Law mount into
the runner-up role. Lawrence was relentless in his drive to the front but it was
Johnston remaining cool calm and collected as he fought off the many advances of
Lawrence. Joe Howey stood his ground as the 2009 National Slingshot Champion
Cody Kline came a calling. Kline began from tenth starting place and was on the
move early as he rushed through the quality field. Kline slipped by Don Schmidt
for fourth place and challenged Howey for the remainder of the event.
As the laps clicked off, Lawrence tried time and time again to gain the
advantage with inside moves coming in abundance but Johnston remaining focused
as he drove to his first win of the season in the All Star Slingshot main.
Lawrence was the runner-up in a great effort with Howey in third place, Kline in
fourth and Don Schmidt completing the top five. Shannon Smith headed up the
second five with Simon Egan, Billy Clark, Danyn Buccasfusca and Kyle Rode
completing the top ten. Clark drove to the front from a 22nd place starting
position and Buccasfusca raced back from scratch position after being turned
around on the first lap of the event.
"Lightning" Larry Mekic took control of the Rookie 600 event and led all of the
way to secure the victory but faced challenge after challenge from "The South
Canaan Sensation" Eddie Strada as Strada becomes more and more familiar with
race car they purchased before the mid-point of the racing season. Strada was a
close runner-up to Mekic, who was doing double duty at the speedway with last
week's feature winner Austin Burke nailing down third place. Danielle Dickinson
continued here great work to land in fourth place and Justin Brewster completed
the top five. Riley Moczulski, Jamie Czekai, Tim Howell, Terry Lick and Simon
Egan completed the top ten finishers. The race was marred by a Stephen Reynold
flip on lap five. Reynolds was unhurt in the incident.
"The Rocketman" Ryan Wood led the first nine laps of the Wingless 600 headliner
and then gave way to the rim riding exhibition of Kyle Lick. Lick used a variety
of slick moves to move into contention and then drove by Wood with the lead.
Once in front the Butler came knocking in the form of Bobby Butler as he found
his way by Wood and Billy Clark was able to roll into third place putting Wood
back to fourth. Lick was stout and Butler tried to counter every move by Lick to
find a way past him. The checkered flag fell with Lick as the winner and Butler
in the runner-up role. Billy Clark, Ryan Wood and 410 Sprint car star Doug
Dodson taking the Stevens Racing hot rod to a fifth place finish completed the
top five. The second five consisted of modified stars Kyle Rohner and Gants
Hilfiger, Joe Kata in eighth, Brian Gilmore in ninth and Shannon Smith finishing
up the top ten.
West Hartford, Connecticut hot shoe Grady Johnston wasted little time to secure
his second straight win at the speedway in the Rookie 270 Micro event. Moving to
the point at the drop of the green flag, Johnston carved out a huge lead as the
laps clicked off. Scott Avery was the runner-up with Makenzie Harper in third
place, Hayden Miller in fourth and Jenna Weidner rounding out the top five.
CJ Heinig outgunned newcomer Mason Peters at the drop of the green flag and
hustled his way around the 1/5 mile Hamlin clay surface in 12 second laps to go
on to score the win in the regular 270 Micro encounter. Former track champion
Nunzi Allegrucci returned to action at Hamlin and scored the runner-up position
with Tommy Kunsman Jr in third place, Mason Peters doing a great job in his
first appearance in fourth and Trevor Dunn completing the top five. Rick Casario,
Rich O'Neill, Kendall Segar, Zach Weidner and Kyle Rutledge completed the top
ten.
The Super Slinger shootout was another classic as defending track champion Paul
Ennes drove past pole sitter Kevin Olver to establish the point in the 25-lap
encounter. Ennes had things his way for the first twenty laps of the event but
Charlie Shaver had other ideas as the Saylorsburg resident found an inside line
on lap-21 to wrest the lead from Ennes and then drive away from the field to
secure yet another win at the speedway. Paul Ennes was second with Tom Arntz,
Henry Anderson and Aaron Henneforth completing the top five finishers.
Trevor Dunn seized the point in the Wingless 270 Micro feature event. After a
two lap reign as the leader Dunn gave way to Tommy Kunsman Jr and Kunsman was up
to the task at hand as he drove way from the field to secure the exciting win.
Mick D'Agostino was second with CJ Heinig, Kendall Segar and Kurt Bettler
completing the top five
POCO-NOTES:
Randy Smith kept pace with the speedway all night long as some short
intermission sessions were needed to keep the speedway surface tacky and wide
throughout the evening with some needed moisture being added whenever the track
appeared to be dusting over. Short track racing is close competition at its
finest and when the drivers can negotiate the tight quarters of the speedway it
adds another dimension to the great talent that lands at the Hamlin Speedway on
a weekly basis.
An emotional moment for all of the racing fans that have followed the racing
action at the speedway took place during the evening. "The Sparkman" Mark
Berkenstock, who was so severely injured one year ago at the speedway in a freak
mishap, showed the fans his remarkable transition in the year that followed the
injury by stepping off his Quad and walking a few steps for the fans. Randy
Smith and Mark's Dad Gary were at his side during the special moment and mark
thanked all of the racing fans for their assistance in his time of
rehabilatation. While Mark has come along way to go in his recovery process, his
great attitude and never say never work ethic has him back at the speedway and
enjoying racing with all of his racing friends.
Heat race wins went to Zack Weisenfluh and Dylan Martin in the Juniors while
Simon Egan and Austin Burke claimed wins in the Rookie 600's. All Star Slingshot
heat winners were Shannon Smith, Henry Anderson and Don Schmidt while Troy
Langendoerfer claimed the 12-lap B-Main. Grady Johnston won the Rookie 270 Micro
heat and Billy Clark, Brett Michalski and Kyle Rohner won the 600 heat events.
Super Slinger heats were won by Wes Hearn and Kevin Olver. Aaron Henneforth and
Charlie Bodine and the 270 Micro heats went to Nunzi Allegrucci and Kurt Bettler.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, NY- Michael Storms Late Rally To Flash To First Accord Speedway Triumph
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
As the East Coast weather flirted with temperatures in the 100's, loyal racing
fans braved the oppressive heat as once again the "Gem in the Catskills" Accord
Speedway swung back into action on Friday evening and reeled off an oustanding
racing card for the great crowd on hand. Speedway Promoters Gary and Donna
Palmer had the speedway grounds in pristine condition and the outstanding track
work prep of Gary Palmer presented the drivers with a smooth as glass and race
to the walls facility for the excellent racing card scheduled for the evening.
When it was all said and done, New Jersey resident Michael Storms overcame a
huge lead held by local Accord resident driving ace Richard Smith when Smith
became mired in lapped traffic just past the midway point of the 30-lap Modified
main and allowed "The Flash" Storms to slip by and go on to record his first
Accord Speedway victory to his racing resume. The six feature show was completed
by 10 PM on headline sponsor Van Kleeck's Tire Night at the speedway and allowed
the fans to hurry home and enjoy their air-conditioned cars and homes in what
has to rank as the hottest day ever at the Ulster County racing facility.
Richard Smith and Michael Sabia brought the 22 car starting VP Fuels/Rhinebeck
Ford Modified field down for the start of the 30-lap main event. Smith, who had
already scored a win earlier in the season, was quick to task as he took the
lead coming out of the second turn and began to carve out a nice lead over the
rest of the field with Kevin Duryea and Michael Storms in tow. Smith was dead on
with his set-up as he drove his Smith Logging and Landclearing sponsored hot rod
off to a big advantage in the former Barry Davis PMC machine. Storms was quick
and gaining confidence with each passing lap as he slipped by Duryea for the
runner-up role and had Rick Mill and Jeff Heotzler joining in the chase to hunt
down Smith. The racing throughout the quality field was intense with many side
by side battles heating up the crowd even more that the summer heat. Jerry
Higbie, in a top five position, was the first casualty among the contenders as
he fell off the pace with mechanical problems on lap nine.
The turn of events quickly hit after the midway point of the race as Smith began
to drive into lapped traffic and was having some issues at finding his way past
the slower cars. Storms kept hitting his marks and very quickly gobbled up the
real estate in front of him to move in behind Smith. Coming out of turn four
Smith was caught at the top of the raceway with two slower cars in front of him
and Storms on the bottom finding a hint of daylight opening up for him. Storms
slipped by Smith and took over the lead. By the time Smith could adjust his
line, Storms had opened up a sizable lead and Duryea found the needed speed to
also make Smith a victim. Jeff Heotzler, in a new racer for the evening out of
the Joe Grasso stables, was moving the racer around on the multi-channeled
raceway and moved past Smith into third place and Mike Ricci followed suit as he
became a player in the last half of the race. Brett Hearn, the point leader
coming into the racing activities, was also making tracks and once again turned
the fastest times of the night with a reading of 13.488 seconds. Storms
withstood a valiant effort by Duryea late in the race as Duryea pulled up
alongside of him on the bottom side and just couldn't pulled the trigger as
Storms quickly thwarted the efforts of the hard driving Duryea. Storms flashed
across the line with the win and Kevin Duryea, Jeff Heotzler, Mike Ricci and
Brett Hearn completed the top five. Rick Mill, Andy Bachetti, Richard Smith,
Danny Tyler and Bobby Hentschel completed the top ten.
The Camper's Barn Sportsman event was another classic tale of two stories
divided into one main event. Rookie in the ranks Chris Stevens blasted into the
lead from his pole start and just as quickly had a dancing partner with the high
flying Jeff Hulseapple hustling the Vitale Motorsports entry in behind him.
Hulseapple showed a hot hand and was quick from the shelf but Stevens was a few
ticks quicker as he established command of the event. A seventh lap jingle on
the backstretch saw Howard Jarvis drive on two wheels before uprighting the race
car and Don Smith flipping his car back on his wheels at the entrance to turn
three. On the restart it was Stevens at the point but charging through the pack
came "Mr Excitement" Kevin Ward as the four time feature winner in 2011 came
looking for number five. Ward was passing a car a lap and on lap twelve found
the bottom line to his liking as he executed a perfect slide job on Stevens and
assumed command of the event. Ward could place his Troyer race mount wherever he
wanted and drove away to his fifth win of the season. Chris Stevens drove a
great race to finish in the runner-up slot with Anthony Perrego, Ryan Stortini
and Vinny DeCicco completing the top five. Will Dietz, David Coene, Joe
Giachinta, Jesse Marks, and Shane Jablonka completed the top ten.
The Healey Brother's Group Spec Sportsman feature attraction added some
additional drama and theatrics to a division that is producing quality racing at
every turn of the clock. Newcomer Kevin Smith led the first two laps before
giving way to "Tommy Gun" Tommy Johnson. Johnson was quick and wasted no time in
establishing his perimeter as the leader. Matt Hitchcock and Whitey Slavin were
locked up in a dual with both of the drivers racing for position and making
contact and sending both drivers to rear of the bus after the incident.
Defending track champion "The Bushkill Bullet" Kyle Rohner came through the
field using a variety of moves to drive into second place with Joe Judge now a
close third. The action was quick and pulsating as Johnson stayed in the third
lane with Rohner pulling out all of the stops from the bottom to pull up to the
Johnson front door but never gaining the momentum to pull even with him. Johnson
grabbed the win, his second of the 2011 racing season at Accord. Rohner was
second in a great run from eighth starting place and Joe Judge finished third.
Steady John Sundlof was fourth and Whitey Slavin rallied back to complete the
top five. Matt Hitchcock, Tyler Dippel, Patrik Murphy, Bryanna Hurban and Kevin
Smith completed the top ten.
The DC Landscaping regular show found Dave Demorest in front for the first two
laps before yielding to Pine Bush resident Joe Mennite. Mennite was working well
in the center of the race track and led the next four laps until the recently
returning Ralph Ronk seized command of the lead. Once in front, Ronk had to fend
off the advances of hard driving Pat Zimmer. Zimmer slowed jut a bit after he
encountered the boiler plate on the backtretch but still gave a good chase as
Ralph Ronk flashed across the line to record his first Accord win in some time.
Zimmer was the runner-up with Jimmy Sykes, Al Christiana and Tom Vasta
completing the to five
Ray Tarantino was the early leader in the Arkel Motors Pure Stock main event and
led the first six laps before an altercation with the first turn fence. John
Woinoski, who was second at the time, restarted the event as the leader and went
on to captured his first win in quite a spell in the Joe Knoth owned racer. Tim
Brown was the runner-up with Jim Cuneo finishing third in only his third start
at the speedway in a great piece of driving. Gary Predmore and Steve Cooper
completed the top five.
The heldover DC landscaping Pro Stock event kicked off the program and it was
Dave Demorest leading through the first seven laps before steam began to escape
from his hood bonnet. Pat Zimmer took over the lead at that point and raced way
to another feature win at the facility. Jimmy Sykes was the runner-up with the
Ford powered machine of John Roese in third place, Tom Vasta in fourth and Paul
Aragon completing the top five finishers.
MUDPLUGS:
The good friends from Van Kleeck Tire were the headline sponsor for the evening
and proudly displayed their company's logo in the Lucas Oil Products Winners
Circle after each feature event. The Van Kleeck team offered key chains to many
of the first fans through the gates at the speedway.
Announcer and racing competitor Joel Murns was missing in action due to a bad
wreck he suffered at OCFS while competing in an Enduro event on Thursday night .
Reports told that Murns was suffering from a broken foot and assorted injuries
from what was said to be a hard grinding hit. Murns was fourth in Pure Stock
points coming into the event and will suffer from being absent as each event
will prove to be critical to every driver will aspirations to claim a driving
title in 2011. The speedway staff sends get well wishes and a speedy recovery to
the "Roof Top Shuffler".
Heat races were run off quickly and Sportsman heat wins went to Chris Stevens
and Greg McCloskey. Kevin Smith and Joe Judge captured the Spec Sportsman heat
events. Modified heats were claimed by Michael Sabia, Jerry Higbie and Jeff
Heotzler. Tim Brown captured the Pure Stock heat encounter.
Tim Wade won the Pick the Winner contest that is held through the purchase of an
"Accordian" program at the speedway. Tim grabbed up the $50.00 prize after
picking Michael Storms for the win and also picked up two tickets to the World
of Outlaws event this evening at the Lebanon Valley Speedway.

Smith Smokes Sprints/Berwanger Befuddles AMRA Mods
Adams Attacks Hobbys
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-After a torrid battle with young Sheldon Haudenschild, veteran
sprint driver Danny Smith, Chillicothe, Ohio claimed the Goodyear 410 Sprint Car
main at Jeff and Vicki Schrader’s K-C Raceway on a sultry Saturday night July
23. Jeremy Berwanger, the Murray City Bandit, blasted the AMRA modifieds after a
race-long jousting match with Rob Stambaugh, and Jamie Adams, Laurelville, OH
returned to victory lane in the Hobby Stock division.
Extreme temperatures and rains just about every place but the track set the action back nearly 45 minutes, but all the action was completed by 10:40. Additionally, nearly half of the sprint car field went home with a free Goodyear tire (the top nine cars) compliments of Jeff Schrader and the Goodyear Racing Program.
Last week police officer Brandon Mather was cited for the win and took the bounty money for defeating 10-time winner Jamie Adams. Adams’ bid to return to victory looked slim after a seventh place start, but Adams masterfully worked his way through the field to take the lead with three laps to go in posting the win.
Tommy Mossbarger was the class of the field early fending off side-by-side challenges from Brandon Thompson and Bruce Gray, Jr. Mossbarger had to survive several cautions that repeatedly kept the rest of the pack close and played into the hands of the ever-patient Adams.
Mossbarger and Thompson continued to battle while Gray, Mather, Seitz, and Adams jockeyed for position. Mossbarger finally built up a sizeable lead, but again had it erased near the end of the event with Thompson in second and Adams third. Adams disposed of Thompson then shimmied by Mossbarger for the win. Great racing throughout the pack highlighted the action.
Behind Adams in the top ten were Tommy Mossbarger, Brandon Thompson, Bruce Gray, Jr., Brandon Mather, Tim Cutler, Butch Eblin, Jason Holstein, Evan Seitz, and Robert Walker.
Adams said in victory lane, “You just have to take what you can get when you can get it. Tonight I just had to be patient—you don’t want to run over any body. Also, I’d like to thank my crew and family and everyone who comes out each week and roots for us.”
The redraw for the 410 Sprint Feature poised youngster Sheldon Haudenshild against veteran Smith with a hungry pack of open-wheel warriors lying in the wake. Haudenshild grabbed the early lead, triggering a bundle of turn-entry slide-job swaps between the duo.
Said Smith in victory lane, “He is a great
little, up-and-coming driver. He’s only raced two years, but he has a lot of
laps under his belt and he knows how to race.”
Smith appeared to take the lead on lap four for good, but Haudenschild dug a
little deeper, perhaps in desperation of preserving a win while hammering out an
amazing pass in a drag race out of turn two. Smith responded and took the lead
for good on lap five, then the crafty Hoosier native worked traffic to
perfection to build a resounding lead.
Jimmy Nier whisked by Lil Haud on lap 11 and gave chase to Smith. Nier once
closed the gap to less than three car lengths, but lapped traffic soon separated
the two, establishing a comfort zone for Smith. Lots of great racing took place
behind the front runners. Jac Haudenschild had a solid top five going until
mechanical failures sidelined the veteran star.
Nick Nabor had a great run going but scrubbed off some speed to avoid another car and was quickly shuffled out of the top ten. Jimmy Stinson, Cole Duncan, and Todd Kane pounded the dirt in ‘hammer-down’ style and blasted up from deep in the field. Duncan came from 11th to fourth and Stinson from 10th to third as that duo shared hard-charger honors.
Behind winning Smith was Jimmy Nier, Jimmy
Stinson, Cole Duncan, Todd Kane, Sheldon Haudenschild, Mark Imler, Bryce
Dickson, Josh Davis, and Mitch Harble.
Smith added, “Always great to see all the fans at K-C. I’d like to thank my
nephew David, my crew, my fans and all the names on this car. That’s what makes
this all possible. I’d also like to dedicate this win to Joey Saldana and wish
him a speedy recovery.”
With several other area tracks rained out, a star-studded AMRA Modified field took the green for an exciting 20-lap event. Rob Stambaugh took the early lead, and appeared to have shaken a string of K-C bad luck over the last few weeks.
Stambaugh blasted from the second row past Berwanger and Jeremy Rayburn. Stambaugh led the hard-hitting parade until lap eleven, when Berwanger finally found his way around the local #67 speedster. Now, Stambaugh dogged Berwanger as J.P. Roberts marched up into the top six from a 16th place start. Roberts, Tim Rayburn, and Crace went three wide several times in exciting on-track action.
Rayburn held off Kenny Johnson for a time, but Johnson rode the high-side to third then went to work on Stambaugh. Meanwhile, Jeremy Rayburn, Brian Whiteman, David Pinkerton, and Tim Rayburn fought ferociously for position. T.J. Harper and Brad Butler were gaining some valuable ground throughout the race with nice runs.
The last six laps Kenny Johnson—‘always worth the price of admission’-- had the fans on their feet. Johnson pressured Stambaugh to a near breaking point. Although Stambaugh never stumbled Johnson still forged on and made a pass up in no-man’s land high against the fence to take second.
Behind Berwanger were Kenny Johnson, Rob
Stambaugh, Jeremy Rayburn, Brian Whiteman, David Pinkerton, Tim Rayburn, T.J.
Harper, Bob Crace, Jr., and Brad Butler.
The “X-man” Berwanger said, “Great to back in victory lane. This is a great team
and this Two-brothers Shaw car was just perfect. Thanks to all the guys and fans
that make this effort a winning one.”
Brad Butler was the hard charger in a 20th to
10th run. Other notable comeback bids came from Bob Crace, Jr. who had to go to
the tail on lap seven and came back to ninth, and J.P. Roberts and Mike

Big Weekend Ahead for Mountain Speedway
By: Gene Ostrowski
July 24, 2011
St. Johns, PA- The season so far for Mountain Speedway has been an exciting one
and the excitement will continue this Saturday (July 30) with another weekend of
“Summer Racefest”, featuring a $2,000 to win 75-cone race for the Modified
division.
The Modified drivers will take to the track and compete using the cone race
style format, which is well known at Bowman Gray Stadium down south. With a
$9,000 overall purse, the Modified drivers will compete for the lucrative $2,000
top prize and the event will pay $210 green flag money.
The fun doesn’t stop there, as speedway Promoter, Joe Callavini, ha arranged for
a “bouncy house” to be brought to the track to entertain the children at the
track through out the day.
The 50/50 drawing will also be one to remember this weekend, as 25 winners will
be pulled. Those winners will be given an entry form ($10 value) to win a custom
Death Row Motorcycle and part of the proceeds for the Children’s Miracle
Network. The drawing will be in August 31st at the Quaker Steak and Lube in
Buckhorn.
Adult grandstand admission is just $15 and as always, kids 10 years of age and
younger are free. All of the action, including the Modifieds, FWDs and Street
Stocks will begin at 6 PM.

-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Baer Wins Again at SSP on Saturday Night in Late Models
Newberrytown, PA (July 23, 2011) – On Saturday night, July 23 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park, tempers flared after the 25-lap Late Model feature as Dover’s Larry Baer returning to victory lane for the second consecutive week over Carl Billet. In victory lane, both drivers had some choice words about each other, setting up another showdown next Saturday night. In Street Stock racing action, Littlestown’s Randy Zechman won his third feature event of the season in the 20-lapper. Lancaster’s Donnie Broderick picked up his third consecutive win in the Xtreme Stock Car class with a last lap pass for the victory. Brian Lefebvre of Etters won the 15-lap Road Warrior feature for the second consecutive week. Pete Neal won the 15-lap Classic Cars feature event.
The 25-lap Late Model feature event started with Larry Baer quickly grabbing the lead from the pole position. Baer set the pass with plenty of battles behind him for position. A late race caution with four laps to go bunched up the field and gave Carl Billet and Billy Wampler a shot at the win. On the final circuit, Billet and Baer tangled, scattering the field behind them. All cars continued with Baer taking the win over Billet. Wampler settled for third, followed by Charles Potts and John Moser Jr. Heat wins went to Alex Updegraff and Gary Potts.
Polesitter Jimmy Slaseman grabbed the early lead of the 20-lap Street Stock feature but relinquished the lead on the next lap to 2010 Street Stock champion Randy Zechman. Behind Zechman, a wild scramble for position ensued with multiple changes. At the end, Zechman held on for the win over Doug Bennett and Scott Thunberg. Jeff Haag finished fourth, followed by point leader Dan Zechman in fifth. Randy Zechman and Jim Palm Jr. were heat race victors.
The 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event saw four different leaders with Donnie Broderick taking the lead on the final lap to record his third feature win. Patrick McClane settled for second place after leading laps eleven through nineteen. Tim Hahn led laps eight to ten and finished third. Michael Goodwin, winner of the first ever Xtreme Stock Car feature back in 2004, finished fourth, followed by Adam Smith in fifth. Johnny Palm and Hahn won their heat races.
Brian Lefebvre led every lap of the Road Warrior 15-lapper to claim his second victory of the year. Jeff Svendsen finished second, foloowed by Curt McDade, Dennis Dorosz and Jesse Hitz. Daryl Sipe won the heat race.
The 15-lap Classic Car feature found Pete Neal leading from start to finish to take the victory. Bill Brown Sr. started tenth and finished in the runner-up spot. Joe Snodgrass finished third, followed by Matt Wallace and Jim Crocker rounding out the top five. Crocker and Neal won their respective heat races.
Racing action returns to the SSP Outback Track on Friday night, July 29 at 7:30 p.m. featuring quarter midgets, karts, Adult Speedcars and lawnmower racing action in the Summer Shoot-Out Series.
Racing action then returns to the Big Track at SSP on Saturday night, July 30 with the annual Members 1st FCU Kid’s Money Scramble. Racing action will feature the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Mini Vans, PENNMAR Vintage Cars and the first-ever appearance of the Sidewinder Sprint Cars at SSP. The start time is 7:00 p.m. for racing action on Saturday night.
Saturday, July 30 will also be the “Hometown Heroes” night featuring the towns of Reinholds, Middletown, and Myerstown. Before the races begin, the drivers from those hometowns will have the opportunity to display their cars and meet the fans at the front gate of the speedway. The drivers will also be interviewed during the night’s racing program. Also, all fans entering the speedway from that driver’s hometown being honored will be admitted FREE to the grandstands by showing proper photo identification and filling out an information card at the ticket booth.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south. For more information, contact the speedway offices at (717) 292-1696 or visit online at sspracing.net. On raceday, use the track phone at (717) 938-9170 for up-to-date information at the “Big Track” and (717) 932-1608 for the “Outback Track.”

THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES
Just A fact. . . . 95 Indianapolis 500's. . .. . 52 Daytona 500's. . . . 100
Thunder on the Hill Events!
THERE'S A TRAFFIC JAM AT GRANDVIEW ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3RD, ADULT ADMISSION $20
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will present event #101 on
Wednesday night, August 3rd when the TRAFFIC JAM for modifieds returns to
Grandview Speedway. The Chad Sinon/BPG Motorsports sponsored event will pay a
hefty $8,500 to the winner of the 60 lap modified feature sanctioned by the Race
of Champions. Along with the modifieds, the ROC sportsman will also be on the
program to compete in qualifying events all leading up to the 40 lap feature.
The adult admission price for the show is just $20, children 6-11 $5 and kids
under the age of six will be admitted for free. The pit fee is $30 and a license
is not required. In the event of rain, Thursday night, August 4th will be the
rain date.
The sportsman will be looking at some bonus money tanks to Joe Adams Lettering.
The top five sportsman in the feature that were pre-entered will earn an
additional $50. Drivers may pre-enter by calling 443 513 4456.
The inaugural TRAFFIC JAM took place in 1998 and Brett Hearn earned the center
podium position in victory lane. The following year, Jimmy Horton was the winner
with Frank Cozze taking the win in 2000 as Timmy McCreadie earned his first
TRAFFIC JAM win in 2001. Brett Hearn was the first repeat winner in 2002 with
DIRTcar standout Billy Decker winning the TRAFFIC JAM in 2003. Timmy McCreadie
returned to the always joyous Grandview victory lane in 2004 with Tim Fuller
winning the event in 2005, Alan Johnson in 2006, Brett Hearn in 2007 and Billy
Decker again in 2008. Brett Hearn scored his fourth TRAFFIC JAM win in 2009 with
VonDohren the winner in 2010.
One very special activity that takes place during the annual TRAFFIC JAM event
is FAN FEST. Weather permitting, the track gate at the flag stand will swing
open after the TRAFFIC JAM starting field is staged on the homestretch. With the
starting field, spectators from the grandstands are invited to come on to the
speedway and do a meet and greet with the TRAFFIC JAM drivers. Fans are
encouraged to bring their camera's and even a program book to collect autographs
and photos. Earlier in the night, race fans may also take part in the Inside/Out
Promotion, allowing fans to watch the warm-ups from inside turn four. It's a
great viewing location and you'll feel the ground vibrate when the modifieds
power off turn four and charge down the homestretch.
The $8,500 winners share in the 60 lap TRAFFIC JAM will certainly bring out the
best of the Grandview regulars to include Duane Howard, Craig VonDohren, Ryan
Godown hot off that impressive ROC win at the Battle of Lincoln, Doug Manmiller,
Rick Laubach, Billy Pauch and Kevin Hirthler. Expected invaders include Brett
Hearn, Billy Decker, Danny Johnson and Stewart Friesen just to name a few.
This will be the richest TRAFFIC JAM payout in the fourteen year history of the
event, a continued celebration of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing
Series reaching their 100th event milestone in June of 2011.

Carpenter Captures AMRA Lates
Smith Smothers Sprints/Hall Hammers Semi's
Venham, Jr. Masters Mods/Mayle Masterful in Mini's
Skyline Speedway Results FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
By Scott Wolfe
STEWART, OHIO-While it was smothering hot outside, the on track action was even
hotter in the Southern Appalachian Hills of Skyline Speedway. Eighty-two cars
and a large crowd at the severe storms in the area with Rick Venham, Jr. taking
the final checker flag in the AMRA Modifieds at 10:50 just before a final storm
moved through the area. Chris Carpenter, South Parkersburg, made it another
clean sweep in the AMRA Late Models, Danny Smith, Chillicothe, OH claimed the
OVSCA Sprints, Frankie Hall hammered the semi-lates, and Cole Mayle mastered the
Mike's Auto Body Mini-wedges.
The semi-late crates were the first to take to the track. Frankie Hall, Parkersburg, recently purchased a car from Freddie Carpenter, slapped on the 21jr sticker and drove like a pro in picking up the heat win and the feature win. For a time Nelson Freshour started to catch Hall in traffic, but once the field spread out, Hall once again throttled away and on to the victory. Rounding out the top ten were Frankie Hall, Nelson Freshour, Eric Foster, Nathan Harrison, Johnny Vandale, Terry Hinkle, Roger Bowling, Pete Crum, Tim Good, and Matt Kussmaul.
In the competitive AMRA Late Model main four cars were all within inches for much of the first 15 laps. K-C Burdette grabbed the early lead and led by five car lengths over the first three laps. Fast timer and heat winner Chris Carpenter began to reel him in as Chris Garnes and Tyler Carpenter came three wide through four with the eventual winner strapped in the middle.
All four cars fought for the lead with Ralph Withem, continuing his string of great charges, tried to make it a five car race. Meanwhile, Dan Morrison was charging toward a top five and also challenged Garnes for position. Chris Carpenter worked five hard laps beside Burdette until Carpenter pulled Burdette down the stretch to lead lap fifteen. A lap later Burdette, Garnes, and Tyler Carpenter tried to pull three cars in a two-car hole, sending Carpenter spinning hard across the uke tires and out of the race.
Although the action was close all the way around the track, the caution strung out the field over the last nine laps. Carpenter brought home the popular win ahead of Burdette, RalphWithem, Chris Garnes, Dan Morrison, Zach Dohm, Freddie Carpenter, Colten Burdette, Andy Bond, and Larry Bond, who rounded out the top ten. Said Carpenter, "It's great to get the win and finally get back on track. We are starting to get some momentum and hopefully get back here to victory lane again."
Andy Bond was the hard charger in a 14th to 9th place run. Zach Dohm and Colten Burdette also picked up four spots in good runs to the top ten.
Eleven exciting heats, many of which went right down to the wire set the stage for a great night of feature racing. Each feature event seemed to top the previous one as the Danny Smith-Josh Davis marquis billing in the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association sprints proved to be one of the night's best.
Danny Smith, the crafty veteran got a great start, zooming from sixth toward the lead upon the turn two exit. Pole sitters Mitchell Harble on the high side and Jimmy Stinson on the low side soon gave way to the high-flying Smith. Stinson ran the high side and Smith tucked in behind blasting by Stinson and setting the stage for a battle in reverse order.
As the race progressed Josh Davis found a groove in the middle of the track, lassoing Stinson for second by the halfway mark, then slowly but surely reeling in Smith. Smith on the high side, Davis down low, the two battled hard for much of the next seven laps. Davis nosed under Smith prompting Smith to move to the low groove where Smith gained the edge in lapped traffic to win by a car length at the finish.
Jimmy Nier was the hard charger in a last to seventh finish. Behind Smith and Davis were Jimmy Stinson, Andre Layfield, Aaron Higgins, up and coming Chris Myers, Jimmy Nier, itchell Harble, Brian Benson, and fast timer Dave Dickson. Aaron Higgins also had a good run from deep in the pack to a top five just behind the steady-handed Andre Layfield.
The best may have been saved for last as Rick Venham, Jr. and Andy Bond battled for all 20 laps of the AMRA Modified main. Venham, the second heat winner, made a daredevil move between two cars in the heat to earn outside pole honors.
His mystifying effort didn't susbside by feature time as Andy Bond took the early lead. By lap five Venham set up the pass and put the RV-8 high upon the bars in bonsai fashion. Bond managed to stay close, trying to find a groove that equaled Venham's dominance.
The next five positions saw some great dicing among Robbie Evans, Vince Conrad, Roy Roush, Jeremy Blake, and Doug Henry, while J.P. Roberts and Gary Gould battled side-by-side for the next spot back. During the last six laps as Venham reached lapped traffic, Bond was able to pressure him for the pass.
Pulling alongside a couple times in the turns, Bond tried to pull off the pass but each time Venham pulled away and roared on to the exciting win. Behind Venham, Jr. was Bond, Robbie Evans, Vince Conrad, Roy Roush, Jeremy Blake, Doug Henry, J.P. Roberts, Gary Gould, and Derrick Smith.
The hard chargers were Dusty Boley and Derrick Smith.
Elsie Roush was the winner of the Bi-weekly
drawing for two free passes for the remainder of 2011 and all of 2012. Get your
tickets each and every week at the C&S Racing Photo booth.
Skyline will race again next Friday with an AMRA Road Warrior Tour Special

and Mike's Auto Body Mini-Wedges. For more information please visit <<

BOBBY AND DANNY VARIN RACING NEWS
Sharon Springs, NY- Keeping Pace With Bobby And Danny Varin
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Modified superstar Bobby Varin will be back in action this evening as he goes
after his third straight victory at the Glen Ridge Speedway in the Modified
division. Bobby is coming off a superlative performace a week ago at Glen Ridge
when he not only captured the Modified main but also scored his first career
victory in sprint car racing when he wired the talented Empire Sprint Series
driving stars field to claim the win and bagging the double victory at the
speedway. Danny Varin was in action twice last week in the Cuomo owned sprint
car in CRSA competition and encountered problems on Friday evening at the Accord
Speedway while riding in eighth position and then Danny rebounded with a great
third place run on Sunday evening at the Utica Rome Speedway. The Varin Family
has kept busy all season long in 2011 with multiple race teams and many racing
events happening in the Northeast.
Bobby kicked off his last week's racing in grand fashion with the two wins at
Glen Ridge. Bobby began the event from mid-pack and quickly established himself
as a man on a mission when he moved into the top five by lap three of the
Modified headliner. Bobby moved into fourth on lap eight and rallied from the
top of the raceway to claim third place by lap eleven. Building up his momentum,
Bobby completed his run for the lead when he moved past the first and second
place racers on lap twelve to assume command of the event. Bobby drove away to
the victory followed by Marc Johnson, Mike Ronca, Richie Priice and point leader
Kenny Tremont. The win for Bobby was his third of the season at Glen Ridge.
Bobby added his second win of the evening when he climbed aboard the Demitraszek
Sprinter and utilized a front row start to get the jump on the field at the drop
of the green flag and drive away to score another career first for himself when
crossed the start/finish line as the leader and winner of his first sprint car
event. Bobby was followed across the line by Chuck Hebing and Kevin Ward Jr.
The updated Glen Ridge Speedway seasonal point standings continue to shuffle but
still showing Kenny Tremont with 670 points holding on to the point lead by a
50point margin over Craig Hanson who has scored 620 points to date. With his
recent strong performances, Bobby Varin is third with 606 points to his credit
and Jack Brown is fourth with 595 markers. Jamike Sowle rounds out the top five
with 546 points. The remainder of the top ten shows Elmo Reckner, Paul Kinney,
Lance Willix, Richie Price and Mike Ronca following in that order.
The following evening found Bobby and Danny Varin in action at the Fonda
Speedway. AJ Romano scored the win with Jamike Sowle, Matt DeLorenzo, Ryan Odasz
and Jim Davis completing the top five with Bobby Varin in eighth place and Danny
Varin scoring a twelfth place in the final rundown. Bobby Varin continues to
lead in the Fonda points chase with 472 points scored thus far into the season.
Ronnie Johnson is the runner-up with 451 tallies and Matt DeLorenzo is third
with 424 points earned. Mark Kislowski is fourth with 398 tallies and Ryan Odasz
completes the top five with is fourth with 392 points. Alton Palmer, Jeff
Trombley, Jim Davis, Elmo Reckner and Josh Hohenforst complete the top ten in
points with Danny Varin holding forth in twelfth position in the lastest
standings.
The Utica Rome event on Sunday evening found Bobby getting a ninth place finish
in the main event that was captured by Paul Kinney with Pat Ward, Stewart
Friesen, Alan Johnson and Todd Burley completing the top five. Danny Varin later
chased Josh Pieniazek and Jeff Van Steenburg around the half mile speedway to
score a third place finish in CRSA competition. The current point standings at
Utica Rome show Stewart Friesen leading with 436 points with Pat Ward in second
place with 380 tallies. Bobby Varin is third with 376 points and Ronnie Johnson
is a few ticks behind with 372 points. Todd Burley with 368 points completes the
top five. Willy Decker, Bill Trexler Jr, Alan Johnson, Jason Rood and Mark
Kislowski complete the top ten.
Bobby has been on the road in recent weeks with top fifiteen finishes coming in
ROC Dirt competition at Five Mile Point and the Lincoln Speedways. Billy Decker
leads the current ROC points with 362 with Stewart Friesen as the runner-up with
316 points. Jeff Strunk with 306, Danny Johnson with 299, Matt Sheppard with
290, Pat Ward with 273 and Bobby Varin with 254 complete the top seven in the
traveling series.
Bobby is geared and ready to defend the Fonda track title he captured for the
sixth time in his illustrious career in 2010. Bobby will be going after his
fourth title in a row at Fonda and once again will be steering the famous 00
race cars of legendary car owner Dave Cruickshank and his Dover Brake business.
Cruickshank has two cars readied for Bobby for the 2011 season with both of the
race cars coming out of the Bicknell shops and powered by JPM motors. The team
will concentrate on two nights of competition with Bobby set to defend his
championship crown from a season ago at Fonda and seeking to gain the elusive
championship crown at Utica Rome. Bobby led the points battle at Utica Rome for
most of the past season until a couple of mechanical failures late in the season
stifled his chances for the 2010 title. Son Danny will return to the seat of the
Ed Monger owned Magsarus sponsored hot rod. Danny had a pervious stint in the
race car two seasons ago. The race machine is out of the Teo Shops and will
carry a Gary Waters powerplant to supply the power to the rear wheels. Danny
raced hard all of last season and remained in the top five in points for most of
the campaign until he too was bitten by mechanical failures that dropped him to
eleventh place when the points chase ended.
Bobby will once again be aboard the Marv Pedrick/Andy Romano owned racer for his
battles at Glen Ridge. A new race car out of the Bicknell Shops will have a
selection of Pat Morrison or Jeff Boyd powerplants to choose from for the racing
action and the car may be utilized for select additional events later in the
season. Bobby will join forces with Ken Saya and the Commercial Roofing Team for
all big shows and the ROC Dirt Series. A brand new race car was in place for the
team at Syracuse and was later utilized for the Eastern States race at Orange
County and World Finals races at Charlotte where Bobby landed a pair of sixth
place finishes on National TV. Another Bicknell car is in the stable and will
compliment the team with Morrison and Kevlar powerplants supplying the go-power.
Bobby has also enjoyed his entry into the world of sprint car racing and once
again will find the Pete Demitraszek sprinter available to him for select
excursions where Bobby can pull off double duty at the facilities. Danny Varin
tried his hand at sprint car racing last season and enjoyed his time in the seat
and he too will find some time behind the wheel of the 305 Cuomo Sprinter at
select events in the area.
Bobby has enjoyed a great career in the annals of racing. He is a past winner of
the season ending classic Eastern States event held at the Orange County Fair
Speedway having won the event in 2003 with a spectacular performance to claim
the victory, a win that remains high on the list of achievements in the
illustrious career of Bobby Varin. Bobby has also captured two New Yorker
triumphs in recent years at the Utica Rome Speedway. In 2008 Bobby won the event
in a 200 lap version and this past year won again this time leading every lap in
a shortened version 100-lap grind in the curtain closer at the speedway. Even
larger for Bobby in 2011 will be a couple of benchmarks in his racing career.
Bobby currently ranks in seventh place among the all-time features winners at
the Fonda Fairgrounds with 47 wins having surpassed the legendary Bill Wimble
this past season who owned 43 wins to his credit. Former Fonda greats Mike
Romano with 48 wins, Pete Corey with 50 wins and Kenny Shoemaker with 54 wins
are next in line and Bobby is hoping for a stellar season to slide past this
legendary trio of great competitors.
The Varin team continues to seek the same winning formula for success they
enjoyed in 2010. The car owner for the Varin Team is the legendary Dave
Cruickshank and the hard working team is headed up by Crew Chief John Bakuzonis,
and crew members Dave Cross, Jeff Preston, Tyler Preston, Jack Hanna, Bob Gray
and Garret Sagatis. With additional cars in the stable for Varin with the
Commercial Roofing entry and the Romano/Pedrick machine, the 2011 season ahead
will be full of racing excitement from beginning to end.
The Varin Family credits much of their success to their fine group of sponsors
who continue to support their racing efforts. Dover Brake, Joe Bertothy Racing,
JSB Fabrications, Countryman CARQUEST, Land Designs, Supply Wagon Rentals,
Corigliano Towing, Leslie Home Improvement, GA Motorsports Media and Boys Club
of America have all been solid in their support of the Varin racing efforts and
encourage the racing community to support all of these fine sponsors whenever
they have the capacity to do so. The Varin Team also welcomes new sponsor Jeff
Bristol Trucking to the fine list of sponsors for the team. Bobby and Danny
Varin would like to thank their their loyal fan base for the strong support in
the past and look for continued support into the 2011 racing season and beyond.
More updates will follow shortly for the Varin Racing team efforts. Follow the
success of the 00 and 93 Varin Racing Team at their respective websites with all

Top-Five Run In Wyoming Sends Chub Frank Home From ‘Wild West Tour’ On A High
Note
BEAR LAKE, PA – July 21, 2011 – Chub Frank ended his week-long stint on the
World of Outlaws Late Model Series ‘Wild West Tour’ on a high note, finishing
fifth in Tuesday night’s ‘Cowboy 50’ at Gillette (Wyo.) Thunder Speedway.
The 49-year-old standout from Bear Lake, Pa., also registered finishes of eighth
on July 13 in the ‘Gopher 50’ at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.,
and 11th on July 15 at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. A fourth
event, on July 12 at Independence (Iowa) Motor Speedway, was rained out and
rescheduled for Aug. 8.
“We had a decent trip,” said Frank, who ended the stretch tied for sixth in the
WoO LMS points standings with Shane Clanton. “We still aren’t qualifying well
enough (his fifth-fastest time at Gillette was his only time-trial effort that
cracked the top-15), but at least we went forward in the features.”
Frank’s best run in his Corry Rubber/Hino Toyota/Horton Equipment Rocket No. 1*
came at Gillette, a one-third-mile oval that returned to the WoO LMS schedule
after a one-year absence. He started ninth and inched his way to a fifth-place
finish on a track that took rubber early in the A-Main distance, making passing
difficult.
“We’ll take a fifth,” said Frank. “We were O.K. in the slick, but I don’t know
if we would’ve been O.K. or not if it had stayed slick. Once it rubbered up
everybody got tight – I don’t think anybody was on the right tire – and we were
able to hold on and even pick up a spot to get to fifth.
“(Darrell) Lanigan and (Tim) Fuller getting together on the start helped us
because it got us another row forward for the restart, and then that second
restart we got (Rick) Eckert and couple other guys. Then (Pat) Doar just was so
tight he couldn’t steer in the rubber so we got by him too (for fifth on lap
37).”
While Frank was relatively quiet in the frenetic River Cities A-Main (he started
14th), he was one of the biggest movers-and-shakers in the ‘Gopher 50’ at Deer
Creek. He marched forward from the 19th starting (he qualified by finishing
second in a B-Main) to place eighth.
“Our car was actually really good on restarts,” Frank said of his Deer Creek
effort. “We got loose when we got out and running in the open though, so I
would’ve been a lot happier with a few more yellows. When everybody was slowed
down and bunched up, the car was really good. We picked up all of our spots
after the two (early) restarts.”
Frank’s next WoO LMS action will come in three events in his home state of
Pennsylvania: July 26 at Dog Hollow Speedway in Strongstown; July 27 at McKean
County Raceway in East Smethport; and July 31 at Eriez Speedway in Hammett.

R & R MOTORSPORTS RACING NEWS
New Glarus, Wisconsin: Zack Riddle Prepared For Friday Evening With R&R
Motorsports Team At MIS
By Steve Pados, R&R Motorsports Racing Media
The R&R Motorsports Racing Team has enjoyed some good success in 2011 with
driver "Showtime" Zack Riddle at the controls and last week came up one short in
gaining their first win of the season at the Madison International Speedway. The
second place finish has the student manned pumped up for racing action as they
head into the racing action tomorrow evening at the Madison International
Speedway under a full head of steam as the new motorsports team continues to
flourish and gain momentum as a new entity in racing. The early stages of the
2011 racing season has produced solid results but that first win has eluded them
up until now and the team has collectively set as their main objective to
collect a win and continue with top finishes to remain in the hunt for the
Speedway crown at the end of the season. The R&R Motorsoprts Team is a
continuation of the successful Urban Force Racing program that was launched in
2007 to give students a chance to learn about the working facets of race cars
while being educated to become automotive technicians through their school
cirriculum.
Last week at Madison, Riddle was a rocket as he timed second quickest just
behind defending track champion Jeremy Miller. Riddle scored a third place
finish in his heat race to set the stage for the forty lap feature event. Riddle
was on the move early as the racing action began. He moved into the runner-up
role on lap eight and began to stick his nose under the leader as the laps
clicked off. Following a restart, Riddle gunned his race car into the lead on
lap twenty and one lap later fell victim to the hot right foot of Bobby Wilberg.
Undaunted, Riddle rallied back and grabbed the lead back from Wilberg on lap-24
and led the event up until lap-32 when Wilberg regained the lead for good.
Riddle stayed glued to Wilberg's race car but it Bobby Wilberg in for the win
with Zack Riddle in the runner-up role. Ty Majeski was third with Dann Barber in
fourth and Scott Broughton rounding out the top five. The second five consisted
of Es Szelagowski, Kevin Knuese, Jeremy Miller, Bill Baumeister and Scott
McGettigan.
In July 8th racing action, Jeremy MIller scored the win at MIS with Dale
Nottestad in the runner-up role and Zack Riddle riding to a third place finish.
Bobby Wilberg and Kevin Knuese completed the top five on that evening of racing
Coming into the Friday night racing action, Riddle is currently ranked in the
top five in the MIS points system. Defending track champion Jeremy Miller once
again heads up the points is out front at mid-season with 584 points earned.
Scott Broughton is the current runner-up with 534 markers and Bobby Wilberg is
resting in third place with 526 points earned. Dale Nottestad is currently
fourth with 522 points earned. Zack Riddle rounds out the top five with 501
points earned. Ty Majeski with 426, Kevin Knuese with 422, Ryan Goldade with 398
and Ed Szelagowski with 344 have all performed well during the 2011 racing
season thuis far at Madison.
The pairing of Riddle with Urban Force Racing in 2010 brought a great deal of
success to everyone in their initial season of competing together as a team and
the instant chemistry and friendship shared by everyone involved with the team
has put the newly developed R&R Motorsports Team front and center with the
student manned racing team. The plan remains for the team to go after two series
titles in 2011 with the Madison International Speedway Late Model Title and the
Big 8 Series Title the goals the team will be seeking to claim at the end of the
season. The initial season of the successful pairing in 2010 had Riddle
finishing third in the final points tally for the season at the Madison
International Speedway and just 21 points shy of the point title captured by
Jeremy Miller, who defeated Bobby Wilberg by a single digit to claim the
speedway title. The finish made it two times in succession that Zack wound up
third in the final tallies, but his consistent runs in 2010 and gave Zack an
outside chance for the title on the final night of competition at the speedway.
In limited appearances in Big 8 Series competition, Zack finished a respectable
12th place in the final standings but will be looking to compete in all events
in the upcoming 2011 racing season.
Zack Riddle has raised the bar in his career each step of the way as he began
his racing career in 2000 at the age of ten in the go kart divisions and raced
with them successfully until the end of the 2003 racing season. In 2004, Riddle
took his first ride in a Late Model type race car and ran an aborted season,
competing in just six events at the Madison International Speedway. Riddle began
to run the Late Model division as a regular in 2005 and has been a fixture at
the speedway ever since, winning his first feature at MIS in 2006. When the
Madison track ran Super Late Models in 2008, Riddle was selected as the Rookie
of the Year in the now defunct division. Riddle was also named the fan's
favorite driver in 2009, a title he also captured in 2006 and adding to his
"Showtime" nickname.
While Urban Force Racing now makes the transition to R&R Motorsports Team, the
group enjoyed a great history in motorsports since launching the initial program
in 2007 and has sought to improve upon their marks each succeeding year in
racing. Team Manager Pete Raskovic moves into a new role as co-owner of the race
team along with Crew Chief Steve Riddle. Raskovic who with the late ABC Supply
owner Ken Hendricks was able to forge ahead with the launching of the initial
program, has been the mainstay of the student oriented racing team is quite
proud of the success of the many students who have been educated within the
Urban Force Racing Team program.
The unique concept of teaching students the inner workings of a race car along
with all of the technical background in automotive technology, sets the Urban
Force program apart from the typical normal school day. The students are hands
on and work with a purpose as the program is the model for similar technical
programs across the country. The new student team for the 2011 racing season
consists Michael Raskovic, Jesse Tanner and Bryant Williams and the students
will be paired with the existing R&R/Urban Force Team members that include Team
Manager Pete Raskovic, Crew Chief Steve Riddle, Wes Arndt, Brett Guschinki,
County Judge James Beer. Sponsorship for the new R&R Motorsports Team is
provided by Diane Hendricks at ABC Supply Co. Additional sponsorship support
comes from Homberg Inc., Morgan Shoes, Keystone Farms Natural Cheese, Welders
Supply Company, GA Motorsports Media and CARQUEST Gasoline Alley, Vince's
Italian Restaurante, Big Radio WEKZ, Monroe WI.

NEWS FROM JERRY HIGBIE RACING
GOSHEN, NY-- Catching Up With "The Statesman" Jerry Higbie
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Modified superstar Jerry Higbie and the Higbie Racing Team comes into this
weekend of racing events sitting in the runner-up slot at both of his regular
weekend haunts the Accord and Orange County Fair Speedways. Jerry will try to
rebound and overcome the turn of events he suffered last week when in a top five
position with two laps to go became entangled with the rear bumper of Andy
Bachetti's race car as a not so successful slide job from Bachetti forced a
front end pick-up from the Accord wrecker service to remove Jerry from the
raceway and causing Jerry to drop further behind Brett Hearn in the current
points chase at the speedway. Jerry's woes followed him to OCFS as major
problems in his own number 97 mount early in the evening found Jerry jumping
into the Mike Ruggerio 4r race car and later driving it to a solid fifth place
finish in the Modified main event. On the plus side of the ledger, Jerry
traveled out to Sharon Speedway in Ohio last Wednesday evening and took a guest
ride in his good friend Del Rougeux's 20d Bicknell race car and truly captivated
the crowd as problems in his heat event forced him into the B-Main where he
qualified and then began his show stopping performance from 20th starting spot
in the 30-lap Governer's Cup Modified event. Jerry found the Ohio real estate
much to his liking as he began to pick off cars in droves once he rolled the
race car to the top of the cushion. Jerry's heroics were picture perfect as in
the first ten laps found himself charging into the top five. Jerry moved into
fourth place on lap-15 and the next time around had picked off another race car
to slip into third place. One more lap of racing found Jerry taking over the
runner-up slot and Jerry dogged leader Rob Kristayk for the next seven laps
before moving into the lead. A restart put Kristayk back into the lead and Jerry
stayed close to him as Jerry was able to nose under Kristyak numerous times but
couldn't pull off the maneuver that worked successfully the first time around.
Kristyak recorded the win with Jerry in second place and another New Yorker Chad
Brachmann mirroring Jerry throughout the race to score a third place run after a
21st place start in the event. Brian Swartzlander was fourth and Jeremiah
Shingledecker in fifth completed the top five finishers.
Mel Schrufer captured the Accord main event last Friday with Dom Roselli, Mike
Ricci, Robbie Green and Danny Creeden completing the top five finishers. Jerry
was credited with a 14th place finish in the final rundown of the event. The
updated points at Accord continue to show Brett Hearn as the point leader with
514points. Jerry Higbie is the runner-up with 466 tallies. Danny Creeden has
continued his great work and is third in the standings with 465 points as he
closes in on Jerry. Mike Ricci is fourth with 427 markers and Danny Tyler
completes the top five with 416 points. Jeff Heotzler heads up the second five
with 379 points and Andy Bachetti is seventh with 375 tallies. Richie Eurich is
eighth with 363 points, Robbie Green is ninth with 338 points and Dom Roselli
completes the top ten with 334 points.
Bob McGannon took advantage of a pole starting position to drive to victory at
the OCFS facility on Saturday evening. The father/son racing team of Donnie and
Bill Wilson were second and third with Chris Whitehead in fourth and Jerry
Higbie completing the top finishers. The updated points picture for the 2011
OCFS driving title now show Tommy Meier out front with 545 tallies. Jerry Higbie
is in the runner-up position just three points behind with 542 markers and Jack
Brown is third with 491 tallies. Craig Mitchell is fourth with 467 points and
Steve Dodd is one pont behind him with 466. Richie Eurich is sixth with 457
points and Bob McGannon is seventh with 439 points. Chris Whitehead with 438,
Jeremey Markle with 432 tallies and Michael Storms with 423 points complete the
top point earners at this point in the season.
With a whirlwind of activity at the Higbie Race Shops, Jerry continues on with a
decisive plan with his approach to the 2011 racing season. As previously noted,
Jerry is racing at OCFS in a recently spawned chassis of Higbie design for
competition at the hard clay oval. For competition at the Accord Speedway, Jerry
will be utilizing a 2009 Bicknell chassis and there will be a third car in the
works for competition out at some of the select open shows throughout the
Northeast. Power for the race cars will come from the well-noted Precision
Engine Shops with big block power for work at both racing facilities.
The Higbie Family owned signature numbered 97 cars have been missing at the
speedway for the past couple of seasons but the large and loyal contingent of
Higbie racing fans are delighted to see the famous and popular race cars working
the racing surface hard in quest of more victories and more championships.
Long-time Higbie sponsors Shaver Construction, Beaverkill Trout Hatchery, Mr K's
Carpet Service, Hutchings Insurance, Behrent's Speed Center, SKJ Towing, Bada
Bing Pizza and GA Motorsports Media will be assisting the Higbie Racing Team
efforts.
Higbie's business, Hig-Fab, has been super busy throughout the off-season but is
currently making appointments for race cars to be refurbished for the season as
the 2011 racing season. With sponsorship dollars dwindling, many of the racers
are seeking to stay within the restraints of their tightening racing budgets so
many of the racers have opted to retain their current equipment and have the
experts with the Hig-Fab Team perform their magic to update the race cars. The
Hig-Fab shop is ready, willing and able to serve your racing needs whether it be
an entire new body or just new body pieces. The Hig-Fab shop can do frame
repairs or front and rear clips and can supply new bumpers for any Chassis car
racing on the circuit, including Slingshots and Micro Sprints. Scaling of the
race cars and Performance shock work is all done in-house. For more information
regarding the services and capabilities of the highly trained Hig-Fab Staff,
please contact the shop at: 845 294 0898. Don't wait to have your race car
updated or re-skinned for the next racing season, the time to prepare for the
new season is now. Hit the tracks running as the experts at Hig-Fab can
eliminate your worries for a great looking and great handling race car.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, NY - Jesse Leiby, Chris Kurtz, Carly Velez, Richie Van Orden And Terry
Finney Capture Accord Speedway Victories In Midweek Madness Racing Action
By: Steve Pados, Accord Speedway Media
Last evening a beautiful but very humid summer night brought a great crowd of
fans to the Accord Speedway get a glimpse of the many youngsters who have been
playing their trade on the racy quarter miler every Wednesday evening as part of
the Midweek Madness Series that runs until august 31st. The fans were not
disappointed when the racing action was completed as some talented youngsters
helped create another evening in the Catskills Mountains as the energetic show
moved along quickly and had the fans heading back home by 9:54 in the evening.
The event sets the stage for the upcoming Friday night action as the Palmer
Family presents a five division show headed up by the VP Fuels/Rhinebeck Ford
Modified Division going to war for the $2,000.00 payday on the line for the
victor. The evening of events will also see the "Mr Dirt" Lebanon Valley
Speedway Qualifier being part of the evening of activities sponsored by Van
Kleeck's Tire at the speedway.
After a tremendous series of heat racing action, the feature events were about
to play out on the meticulously manicured quarter mile playground of speed.
Kenny Phillips captured a win in the 0-50 Quad event and the 51-90 Quad feature
was once again "The Little Torch" Melissa Torchio show as she won for the sixth
straight week of racing.
George Johnson put in a stellar performance to capture the win in the Kart Lites
over Friday night racer Lenny Helmich and Chad Cooper while Gary Huston in the
Kart Heavy division emerged victorious while Blake Hulseapple returned to action
to score a win the Kids Kart division. Danny Cross won the Amateur Quad event
over Brian Garvilla while Richard Jarvis continued his winning ways with a win
in the nightcap in a very close win over Danny Cross.
"The Flying Dutchman" Richie Van Orden made his first Legends Division
appearance of the season for the Midweek Madness action and walked away with the
win over "The Communicator" Matthew Gaughan who was a very close second in the
event and Jim Black finished up in third. The win for Van Orden was his fourth
overall in Legends competition.
Slingshot racing action was once again the staple highlight of the evening as
another great field of driving stars were on hand for the evening. "The
Gunslinger" Jesse Leiby came out of the starting gate like a thoroughbred as he
quickly established himself at the point on the opening lap. Leiby hustled his
way forward as he ate up vast chunks of real estate to gain a ten car length
lead early in the running. Tyler Pirone was the chaser in the early laps as the
Peekskill, New York hot shoe stayed in the hunt. Out of nowhere came Tyler
Dippel as Dippel found all of the speedway avenues open to his forward advances.
Dippel slipped by Pirone at the midway point of the race and gave it an all-out
effort to track down Leiby but Leiby had the guns loaded with lots of ammunition
and went on to capture the win. Dippel was second and Pirone was third while
newcomer Justin Reed started from the last row and tooled the Vinny Zazzero
owned Grand Rental Station sponsored speed buggy to an impressive fourth place
finish in his first track appearance while John Lieto completed the top five in
only his third outing in the slingshot racer they recently purchased from the
Mike Horton Family. Lydia Rueckheim continues to run strongly as the young lady
had a a fine fourth place run going until she was sidelined from the event with
just a few laps remaining. Modified talent Justin Haas made the trip down from
Albany, New York for the second straight week and put in a great performance at
the speedway until a problem late in race placed him on the sidelines. Joe Krum
returned to the speedway and he was enjoying a great ride in the event until he
encountered the back stretch boiler plate and it can be pointed out the boiler
plate fencing has yet to lose a battle against those who challenge it.
Rookie Slingshot action found Carly Velez steering one of the Advanced Concrete
sponsored Slingers to the point at the start of the Rookie Slingshot feature
event after Matthew Shultz broke on the opening lap and raced to an easy victory
over Carly Dippel.
"The Tornado" Tyler Johnston and "The Midget" Chris Kurtz found the front row to
be the place to be as they locked horns for the first couple of laps until Kurtz
hit his stride and slowly began to walk from the field of driving talent. Kurtz
raced to daylight as he put a buffer zone between he and the rest of the field.
Tommy Zwart came a calling after the midway point of the event and the "Bullville
Bandit" slipped by Johnston for the runner-up role and tried to reel in Kurtz
but Kurtz was dead on in the set-up of the race car and motored away for the big
win in his CK's Transportation ride. Dippel was the runner-up in his Tycar
Trenchless Technologies mount and Johnston was third with a great run in his
Tri-State Roofing/Shawn's Auto Repair sponsored speed buggy. Second generation
driving talent Jared Labagh grabbed up fourth place in his M&H Tractor sponsored
machine and Brandon "Juan Pablo" McGill enjoyed another top five finish in his
Mid Hudson Concrete/Redi Rock International racer. Twelve Junior Slingshots took
the green flag for the feature start.
Junior Four Cylinder excitement found Joe Smith winning Single Overhead Cam
portion with Tisha Curry and John "Little" Davis following. Big winner thus far
in 2011, Robert Beach, seized the lead in the Four Cylinder Senior finale as he
battled with Steve Schmitz for a couple of laps before taking over the lead for
good and going on to record a great win over Walt Henry, Tim Curry and Matt
Curry.
Terry Finney, a transplant from Tennessee now living in Stillwater, New York,
held off the mighty advances of a returning to action Gary Palmer Jr to score
his first win of the season at the speedway. Bruce Leote grabbed the lead at the
start but encountered some problems to allow both Finney and Palmer to slip by
and set-up the great dual between Finney and Palmer that found Finney moving his
race car to the bottom of the speedway to hold off the advances of Palmer.
Finney captured the win with Palmer and Leote following
Midweek Madness will continue from July 27th until August 31st every Wednesday
evening. Gates open at the speedway at 5 PM with Hot Laps scheduled for 6:45.
Racing is to start at 7:15 PM. Admission for the Wednesday shows is just $5.00
and the great concession stand is open throughout the racing card.
Friday night racing at Accord runs from April through September with six great
divisions going to war on the Accord high banks. This week, Van Kleeck's Tire
will serve as the headline sponsor for the evening events and will feature the
five regular divisions at the speedway and the qualifier for the "Mr Dirt" event
to be held at the Lebanon Valley Speedway. Admission for the great racing action
remains the same from a season ago as Adults (12+) will be $12.00; Children (11
and under) will be $3.00. The Family Value Pack that was met with much success
last season is once again offered and is: 2 Adults, 2 Children, and $20.00 in
food vouchers for $40.00, a savings of $10.00 to the consumer. Pit Gates open at
the speedway at 4:30 and Spectator Gates open at 5. Hot laps kick off at 6:30
and the racing is slated to start at 7 PM.

Howard Moore Enjoys Strong Run in 600cc Nationals
Memphis, Tennessee (07/21/11) – Howard Moore took his #23 Moore Motorsports/RaceDaySponsor.com/
Stallard/FTZ Racing Engine Micro Sprint into battle over the weekend in the 5th
Annual 600cc Mini Sprint Nationals at I-30 Speedway.
Last weekend the team entered the 5th Annual 600cc Mini Sprint Nationals at I-30
Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) as 48 cars entered the event.
Friday night would see Howard drawing a loaded heat with several national
talents. As a result, he would slip from the third starting spot to a sixth
place finish. Via his heat performance, Howard started ninth in the qualifier
and advanced to a fifth place finish. He would earn enough points to be 21st
overall in the point's total for the field, but unfortunately only the top 20
got to start the feature, so his night came to an early end.
On Saturday, the team was able to start fresh with a complete new show, and it
would prove to be a great night. After starting sixth in his heat, Howard
advanced to a second place finish, which landed him in the sixth starting spot
for a qualifier. In the qualifier, Howard passed two cars to finish fourth,
which left him starting eleventh on the main event grid.
Moore advanced five spots during the course of the $3,000 to win feature against
a strong field of competitors to initially finish sixth. However, he would be
credited with a fifth place finish after a driver in the top five was
disqualified for not making weight. His finish came behind Chris Meyer, Kevin
Bayer, Blake Hahn, and Chris Bell. Full results are available at
www.I-30Speedway.com.
