Jon Tesch Launches New Website; Completes Busy Memorial Day Weekend
Watertown, South Dakota (06/02/11) – Jon Tesch from Watertown, South Dakota is
the latest addition to the MSRMafia.com team and has launched a brand new
website at www.JonTesch.com .
Jon pilots his #14 Tesch Motorsports/B&E Concrete/GRT/Sput's Racing Engine Open
Wheel Modified on the Casey's General United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS)
tour and also in various high-profile events across the nation. He is also one
of the feature drivers on the hit television program, Dirt Knights.
Tesch was last in action over the Memorial Day weekend as he set out to enter
four events in four days with the Casey's General USMTS tour. Although Mother
Nature would alter the schedule, all four events would be held. The weekend
began on Thursday night at Highway 3 Raceway (Allison, Iowa). It would be a
rough night for Jon as he would heavily damage a car in heat race action,
forcing him to a backup car for b-main action. He would manage to race his way
into the main event via the b-main. After starting 22nd on the grid he would
battle his way through the pack to finish in the sixth position in the final
rundown. Along the way he earned the Mesilla Valley Transportation Hard Charger
Award for his efforts.
Friday's event, which was scheduled for Chateau Raceway (Lansing, MN) fell
victim to rain and was postponed until Monday evening. As a result the team was
next in action on Saturday evening at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, MN) as
a stellar field of 62 Open Wheel Modifieds signed in to battle in the $2,000 to
win event. The night would start well for Tesch as he won his heat race to lock
into the redraw, where he received the fourth starting spot for the 40 lap
feature. In the main event, Tesch would find himself at the front of the pack
for the duration of the event before registering a third place finish behind
race winner, Ryan Gustin, and Jason Hughes.
Sunday's event at Dodge County Speedway (Kasson, MN) would see Mother Nature
interfere once again as rains set in before the feature forcing it to be
rescheduled to Monday afternoon. Prior to the rain arriving Jon raced from his
fourth starting spot to win his heat race, which once again locked him into
Monday's afternoon's redraw. In the redraw, Tesch would receive the 4th starting
spot. He would quickly work his way forward at the drop of the green flag, and
on lap 17 of the 40 lap affair he would race past leader, Tim Donlinger to claim
the lead. Over the next several laps Jon would build a sizeable lead and looked
to be on his way to a comfortable win before disaster struck with just eleven
laps remaining when he received contact from a lap car resulting in a flat tire.
He would be forced pitside for fresh rubber and would rejoin the tail of the
field to salvage a disappointing 13th place finish.
The team would conclude their busy weekend on Monday night with the rescheduled
Chateau Raceway (Lansing, MN) event. Via preliminary action, Jon would earn the
22nd starting position for the 40 lap, $2,000 to win feature. Tesch would drive
through the field once again to finish in the eighth spot in the final rundown.
With his weekend performances, Jon is currently second in the Yeager Machine
Upper Midwest Region standings behind Ryan Gustin. For full weekend results,
please visit www.USMTS.com.
This weekend, June 3rd-4th, Tesch will be back out on the Casey's General USMTS
trail as he enters the 8th Annual Spring Thaw at Junction Motor Speedway (McCool
Junction, NE). The event, which was postponed by weather back in March will
consist of a $2,000 to win program on Friday and a $3,000 to win event on
Saturday. For more information, please visit
www.USMTS.com and
www.JunctionMotorSpeedway.com .

THUNDER ON THE ROAD- - NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
Thunder on the Road Visits New Egypt Speedway. . . .
HUNTER SCHURENBERG EARNS $6,000 FOR USAC SPRINT FEATURE WIN AS BILLY PAUCH
POCKETS $3,000 FOR WIRE-TO-WIRE VICOTRY IN THE MODIFIED FEATURE
NEW EGYPT, NJ . . . . With a total purse in excess of $44,000 the AMSOIL USAC
Sprints and Big Block Modifieds presented the "Elbows Up" Double-header on
Thursday night at the New Egypt Speedway. Hunter Schurenberg of Sikeston, MO
earned $6,000 by winning the 40 lap USAC sprint feature in a dramatic finish. In
the Big Block Modifieds, Frenchtown, NJ driver Billy Pauch led the entire thirty
lap feature that ran off non-stop. New Egypt Speedway was the fourth stop on
USAC's Eastern Storm Tour and the positive excitement of the series has USAC
Management and event promoter Bob Miller already talking about the Eastern Storm
2012. A field of twenty-six USAC sprints took part in the program along with
thirty-four big block modifieds.
In the AMSOIL USAC sprint time trials, Blake Fitzpatrick set fast time of the
night, with a time of 17.282. USAC sprint heats were won by Robert Ballou, Jon
Stanbrough and Casey Shuman as Jonathan Hendrick won the "B" Main. In modified
qualifying, Richie Pratt, Jeff Strunk and Billy Pauch were heat race winners as
Dave Hunt won the modified consolation.
A field of twenty-six USAC sprints took the green flag to start the forty lap
feature event with Jon Stanbrough taking the early lead with Keith Bloom and
Bryan Clauson in the chase. Clauson moved into second on lap three but
Stanbrough already stretched out an eight car length lead. The first caution of
the race was displayed on lap eleven for Coleman Gullick who stopped in turn
three.
On the restart, Stanbrough was fast off the point as Clauson now had to contend
with Bloom and Dave Darland. The caution came out once again, this time for
Blake Fitzpatrick. When green flag racing resumed, Stanbrough once again
established himself as the man to beat, running to hide from the rest of the
field. Suddenly, defending "Eastern Storm" Champion Levi Jones moved into the
picture, racing in fourth with Schurenberg now in fifth.
At the halfway mark, Stanbrough was firmly in command followed by Clauson,
Bloom, Jones and Schurenberg. The leader now had to thread his way through
lapped traffic, but he still managed to sustain a comfortable lead. On lap
twenty-seven, Schurenberg moved into fourth but at this stage of the race, no
one was gaining ground on race leader Jon Stanbrough.
With five lap remaining, the race was getting very interesting.
Stanbrough still had a solid lead, as Clauson now had to contend with Bloom and
Schurenberg who were challenging for the runner-up spot. The caution was
displayed on lap thirty-seven when second place runner Bryan Clauson stopped on
the track. On the restart, Schurenberg took a shot at the leader, challenging in
the low grove but once again, Stanbrough pulled off a comfortable lead.
Robert Ballou, after starting deep in the pack now worked his way up to third
and quickly began reeling in runner-up Hunter Schurenberg with an eye on the
second spot.
With the white flag waiving, Stanbrough crossed the line to begin his final lap,
but exiting turn two, he tapped the wall and got out-of-shape. Entering turn
three, he again tapped the third turn wall and spun, displaying the caution with
just two turns remaining on the final lap. Schurenberg inherited the lead at
that point followed by Ballou, Bloom, Levi Jones, Tracy Hines and Travis Rilat.
A one lap dash to the checker flag was now set.
On the restart, Schurenberg set the pace with Ballou looking for a lane to make
a pass. Down the backstretch, Ballou dove low into three and pulled alongside of
Schurenberg. Out of turn four, Schurenberg was along the outside fence with
Ballou as low in turn four as your could go. When the checker flag fell, it was
twenty-one year old Hunter Schurenberg taking the win over Robert Ballou, Levi
Jones, Tracy Hines and Travis Rilat who finished fifth.
The story in the modified feature was, the race went non-stop and Billy Pauch
was in command.
Billy Pauch started third and took the lead on lap one and went on to lead the
entire distance. While Pauch cruised at the front of the pack, there was plenty
of racing and spot swapping throughout the field. Dominick Buffalino ran second
right through the halfway point of the race with Jeff Strunk, John Willman and
Danny Johnson making up the top five.
On lap eighteen, Jeff Strunk moved into second and tried to reel in the high
flying Pauch. Danny Johnson and Craig VonDohren were on a charge, now racing
third and fourth on lap twenty-four.
With Pauch far ahead of the rest of the field, he dashed under the checker flag
uncontested. Jeff Strunk finished second then on a last lap, last turn pass,
Craig VonDohren took third from Danny Johnson with Dominic Buffalino rounding
out the top five.

NEWS FROM JERRY HIGBIE RACING
GOSHEN, NY-- Jerry Higbie Nails Runnerup Finish At Accord Speedway To Close
Point Gap
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Last Friday evening Newburgh, New York resident and Modified superstar Jerry
Higbie drove his Big Block powered Modified from a twelfth place starting
position to nail down a solid runner-up finish as he chased feature event winner
Jeff Heotzler to the checkered flag. The finish placed "The Statesman" in the
runner-up role in points at Accord as he narrowed the distance between he and
point leader Brett Hearn to twelve markers heading into this week's racing card
on Friday evening. Jerry added a seventh place run to his credentials on
Saturday evening at the Orange County Fair Speedway and is now the runner-up in
Modified points behind Tommy Meier. Jerry is seeking his third consecutive title
at the tough Accord Speedway facility and fourth overall as he chases Brett
Hearn in the point's battle as Danny Johnson suffered a big drop in the
standings when he was a no show on Friday evening.
Scott Ferrier took the early lead of the Accord feature run and held on until
Richie Erurich blasted by to grab the lead and Eurich showed a hot hand as he
stretched the lead out to half a straightway at times. With Eurich as the
rabbit, the talented Modified field began the chase and Jeff Heotzler was the
first to breakaway to take up the chase. "The Jeffer" quickly reeled in Eurich
and took over the point before the midway point of the event. Jerry Higbie found
a very fast race car under him and set sail after the leaders using some
precision passes to eat up some valuable real estate and put himself into
contention. Jerry slipped past Eurich and began to whittle away at the Heotzler
lead. As Heotzler hit lapped traffic, his pace slowed a bit in maneuvering
around the traffic with Higbie now closing in like a runaway freight train. A
cautionwith five to go brought the field closer together but Heotzler was able
to get the great drive from the Grasso owned speed buggy to go on and capture
the win, his 45th career win at the Ulster County facility. Jerry Higbie was the
runner-up with Danny Creeden in third place, Richie Eurich in fourth and Andy
Bachetti completing the top five positions. Danny Tyler, Clinton Mills, Craig
Mitchell, Kevin Duryea and Mike Ricci completed the top ten.
The updated points at Accord continue to show Brett Hearn as the point leader
with 304 points. Jerry Higbie closed the gap with his solid performance and is
the runner-up with 292 tallies. Danny Creeden continues his great work and is
third in the standings with 273 points. Mike Ricci is fourth with 260 markers.
Danny Tyler completes the top five with 252 points. Jeff Heotzler, Richie Eurich,
Danny Johnson, Justin Holland and Andy Bachetti complete the top ten in the
current points's picture.
Chris Shultz captured the win at the OCFS facility on Saturday evening. He was
followed by point leader Jeremy Markle, Donnie Elliott, Tim Hindley, Don Wilson,
Jerry Higbie, Michael Storms, Craig Mitchell and Cliff Ehrman. The updated
points picture for the 2011 OCFS driving title now show Tommy Meier out front
with 228 tallies. Jerry Higbie is in the runner-up position with 214 points.
Richie Eurich is thrid with 204 markers and Craig Mitchell is fourth with 196
points. Steve Dodd completes the top five with 194 points. Chris Shultz and Jack
Brown are deadlocked at 191 points each and Jeremy Markle and Donnie Elliott are
tied with 182 points each. Michael Storms follows with 171 tallies.
With a whirlwind of activity at the Higbie Race Shops, Jerry continues on with a
decisive plan for his approach to the 2011 racing season. As previously noted,
Jerry is racing at OCFS in a recently spawned chassis of Higbie design for
competition at the hard clay oval. For competition at the Accord Speedway, Jerry
will be utilizing a 2009 Bicknell chassis and there will be a third car in the
works for competition out at some of the select open shows throughout the
Northeast. Power for the race cars will come from the well-noted Precision
Engine Shops with big block power for work at both racing facilities.
The Higbie Family owned signature numbered 97 cars have been missing at the
speedway for the past couple of seasons but the large and loyal contingent of
Higbie racing fans are delighted to see the famous and popular race cars working
the racing surface hard in quest of more victories and more championships.
Long-time Higbie sponsors Shaver Construction, Beaverkill Trout Hatchery, Mr K's
Carpet Service, Hutchings Insurance, Behrent's Speed Center, SKJ Towing, Bada
Bing Pizza and GA Motorsports Media will be assisting the Higbie Racing Team
efforts.
A new chapter in the history of Higbie Racing will unfold later in the season
when Jerry's Son Cody takes the wheel of the Junior Slingshot that was purchased
and refurbished for Cody so he can begin his racing career at the Accord
Speedway on Wednesday evenings when Midweek Madness commences at the speedway on
June 8th. Cody is eight years old and is looking forward to his initial runs
with the car that will carry the number 83 when it appears at the speedways.
Higbie's business, Hig-Fab, has been super busy throughout the off-season but is
currently making appointments for race cars to be refurbished for the season as
the 2011 racing season. With sponsorship dollars dwindling, many of the racers
are seeking to stay within the restraints of their tightening racing budgets so
many of the racers have opted to retain their current equipment and have the
experts with the Hig-Fab Team perform their magic to update the race cars. The
Hig-Fab shop is ready, willing and able to serve your racing needs whether it be
an entire new body or just new body pieces. The Hig-Fab shop can do frame
repairs or front and rear clips and can supply new bumpers for any Chassis car
racing on the circuit, including Slingshots and Micro Sprints. Scaling of the
race cars and Performance shock work is all done in-house. For more information
regarding the services and capabilities of the highly trained Hig-Fab Staff,

BOBBY VARIN RACING NEWS
Sharon Springs, NY- Bobby Varin Dominates Utica Rome With Two Big Wins Including
Victoria 200.
By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media
Bobby Varin began last week's big racing weekend with high hopes but things
quickly went awry at the Glen Ridge Speedway on Friday night as Bobby was
collected in an early skirmish at the start of the Modified main and sat out the
remainder of the event and was credited with a 20th place finish for his
efforts. Things quickly turned around the next evening for the Sharon Springs,
New York driving champion as Bobby came away with a solid drive on Saturday
night to finish up the Modified main in third place at the Fonda Speedway. Bobby
added an opening win at the Utica Rome Speedway on Sunday evening and followed
up the win by scoring the Victoria 200 win in Monday evening at Utica Rome after
taking over the point on lap-41 from Billy Decker and then holding off a late
rally by Decker at the end to the claim the $10,000.00 first place prize for his
winning efforts. The win marked the fourth win for Bobby in the 2011 racing
season and the Victoria win was his first ever in the event and with it Bobby's
name will be forever etched in the history books of the prestigious race.
Even though the event at Glen Ridge was a short one for Bobby, he still remains
thick in the points race at the speedway although losing some ground with the
early departure. The current updated season point standings continue to shuffle
still show Kenny Tremont holding on to the point lead by a slim two point margin
over Craig Hanson as Kenny has 398 points as compared to Hanson's 396. Jack
Brown is the third place in points with 390 markers. Bobby Varin is fourth with
353 tallies. Elmo Reckner has moved into the top five with 337 points scored.
Defending champion JaMike Sowle heads up the next five with Lance Willix, Don
Ronca, Paul Kinney and Richie Price following in that order.
Bobby Varin began the Modified feature at Fonda from a mid-pack starting
position. The acquisition of real estate has been tough all season long at Fonda
but Bobby worked the track from every angle to put himself in the top five by
the mid-point of the event. With Ronnie Johnson continuing to wield the hot hand
at the speedway, RJ moved past mid race leader AJ Romano to win his third event
of the season with Romano in the runner-up role and Bobby Varin a fast clsoing
third place. Elmo Reckner and Ryan Odasz completed the top five. Danny Varin ran
well but again suffered the consequences of another flat tire that slowed his
performance in the event. Bobby Varin continues to lead in the points chase with
208 points scored thus far into the season. Ronnie Johnson is now the runner-up
with 187 tallies and Alton Palmer is third with 184 markers. Matt Delorenzo now
is fourth with 172 points and Ryan Odasz completes the top five with 164
tallies. Elmo Reckner, Jeff Trombley, AJ Romano, Darwin Greene and Josh
Hohenforst round out the top ten in points. Bobby did double duty at Fonda and
captured his heat race win but was an early retiree in the feature when another
car drove into him and damaged the sprint car.
Sunday night for the opening event at Utica Rome, Bobby began from the second
spot alongside of Pat Ward for the start. Ward beat Bobby into the turn and led
the first eight laps of the event. A caution slowed the pace and Ward chose to
restart the event from the inside lane. This time Bobby found the needed horses
and the clay cushion to drive into the lead and lead the remainder of the
feature to claim the iopening night victory. Pat Ward was the runner-up with
Stewart Friesen in third, Willy Decker in fourth and Ronnie Johnson completing
the top five spots.
The Victoria event found Bobby starting from 17th starting spot. Bobby was on
the move early as by lap ten he had already graced the top ten running order.
Bobby was a man on a mission as in the next twelve laps he made the move into
fourth place and followed with a drive into third place three laps later. Bobby
took over the runner-up role on lap-31 and began a valiant battle with leader
Billy Decker. The pair of superstars duked it out for ten plas before Bobby
prevailed with the lead. As the laps wore on and Bobby collected the lap money
posted for the event, the lappped cars would come into play. Bobby was able to
race by early when he engaged in lapped traffic but as the laps wore on became
more difficult to do. Billy Decker seized the opportunity and was able to close
the distance on Bobby in the last ten laps of the event. While Decker was
breathing down his tailpipes. Bobby was in for the win and the $10,000.00 prize
money and the lap money he earned as the leader the last 59-laps of the run.
Billy Decker was the runner-up with Ronnie Johnson in third, Stewart Friesen in
fourth and Ryan Phelps completing the top five. Danny Varin was credited with a
25th place finish.
Bobby is geared and ready to defend the Fonda track title he captured for the
sixth time in his illustrious career in 2010. Bobby will be going after his
fourth title in a row at Fonda and once again will be steering the famous 00
race cars of legendary car owner Dave Cruickshank and his Dover Brake business.
Cruickshank has two cars readied for Bobby for the 2011 season with both of the
race cars coming out of the Bicknell shops and powered by JPM motors. The team
will concentrate on two nights of competition with Bobby set to defend his
championship crown from a season ago at Fonda and seeking to gain the elusive
championship crown at Utica Rome. Bobby led the points battle at Utica Rome for
most of the past season until a couple of mechanical failures late in the season
stifled his chances for the 2010 title. Son Danny will return to the seat of the
Ed Monger owned Magsarus sponsored hot rod. Danny had a pervious stint in the
race car two seasons ago. The race machine is out of the Teo Shops and will
carry a Gary Waters powerplant to supply the power to the rear wheels. Danny
raced hard all of last season and remained in the top five in points for most of
the campaign until he too was bitten by mechanical failures that dropped him to
eleventh place when the points chase ended.
Bobby will once again be aboard the Marv Pedrick/Andy Romano owned racer for his
battles at Glen Ridge. A new race car out of the Bicknell Shops will have a
selection of Pat Morrison or Jeff Boyd powerplants to choose from for the racing
action and the car may be utilized for select additional events later in the
season. Bobby will join forces with Ken Saya and the Commercial Roofing Team for
all big shows and the ROC Dirt Series. A brand new race car was in place for the
team at Syracuse and was later utilized for the Eastern States race at Orange
County and World Finals races at Charlotte where Bobby landed a pair of sixth
place finishes on National TV. Another Bicknell car is in the stable and will
compliment the team with Morrison and Kevlar powerplants supplying the go-power.
Bobby has also enjoyed his entry into the world of sprint car racing and once
again will find the Pete Demitraszek sprinter available to him for select
excursions where Bobby can pull off double duty at the facilities. Danny Varin
tried his hand at sprint car racing last season and enjoyed his time in the seat
and he too will find some time behind the wheel of the 305 Cuomo Sprinter at
select events in the area.
Bobby has enjoyed a great career in the annals of racing. He is a past winner of
the season ending classic Eastern States event held at the Orange County Fair
Speedway having won the event in 2003 with a spectacular performance to claim
the victory, a win that remains high on the list of achievements in the
illustrious career of Bobby Varin. Bobby has also captured two New Yorker
triumphs in recent years at the Utica Rome Speedway. In 2008 Bobby won the event
in a 200 lap version and this past year won again this time leading every lap in
a shortened version 100-lap grind in the curtain closer at the speedway. Even
larger for Bobby in 2011 will be a couple of benchmarks in his racing career.
Bobby currently ranks in seventh place among the all-time features winners at
the Fonda Fairgrounds with 47 wins having surpassed the legendary Bill Wimble
this past season who owned 43 wins to his credit. Former Fonda greats Mike
Romano with 48 wins, Pete Corey with 50 wins and Kenny Shoemaker with 54 wins
are next in line and Bobby is hoping for a stellar season to slide past this
legendary trio of great competitors.
The Varin team continues to seek the same winning formula for success they
enjoyed in 2010. The car owner for the Varin Team is the legendary Dave
Cruickshank and the hard working team is headed up by Crew Chief John Bakuzonis,
and crew members Dave Cross, Jeff Preston, Tyler Preston, Jack Hanna, Bob Gray
and Garret Sagatis. With additional cars in the stable for Varin with the
Commercial Roofing entry and the Romano/Pedrick machine, the 2011 season ahead
will be full of racing excitement from beginning to end.
The Varin Family credits much of their success to their fine group of sponsors
who continue to support their racing efforts. Dover Brake, Joe Bertothy Racing,
JSB Fabrications, Countryman CARQUEST, Land Designs, Supply Wagon Rentals,
Corigliano Towing, Leslie Home Improvement, GA Motorsports Media and Boys Club
of America have all been solid in their support of the Varin racing efforts and
encourage the racing community to support all of these fine sponsors whenever
they have the capacity to do so. The Varin Team also welcomes new sponsor Jeff
Bristol Trucking to the fine list of sponsors for the team. Bobby and Danny
Varin would like to thank their their loyal fan base for the strong support in
the past and look for continued support into the 2011 racing season and beyond.
More updates will follow shortly for the Varin Racing team efforts. Follow the
success of the 00 and 93 Varin Racing Team at their respective websites with all
