Myers takes checkered at Winchester Speedway
Winchester Speedway, Winchester VA
Mother Nature claimed three features events Saturday night June 11,2011 at
Winchester Speedway, but could not take the other two as D.J. Myers picked up
the Late Model main and David Kaiser picked up the 25 lap Leo Nichols Memorial.
Brian Tavenner and J.T. Spence lead the field to the green with Spence taking
the lead on lap one. Caution slowed the field on lap two for Ronnie Dehaven Jr.
Field reset seen Spence leading the way with Tavenner a close second, another
caution flew on lap eight to reset the field once more. Spence still in control
would see sixth place starter Myers making his way thru the field and take the
lead on lap eleven as Spence would go pit side. Myers now leading the way with
Tavenner second. The duo would continue first and second for the remaining
nineteen circuits as Myers would pick up the win. Tavenner crossed second, third
C.S. Fitzgerald, fourth Jonathan Dehaven, and rounding out the top five was
Walter Crouch.
In the twenty five lap Pure Stock Leo Nichols Memorial it was David Kaiser
picking up the win from his sixth starting position. Brian Kerns and Mike Rose
lead the field to the green with Rose taking the top spot. Caution flew on lap
two for Mike Corbin sending him pitside with a flat tire. Field reset would see
Rose leading the way , Staton second and Kaiser had worked his way into third.
Rose still leading the way would see caution fly on lap twelve to slow the
field. Rose in control, Kaiser sitting second would make the pass on lap
thirteen and go onto claim the victory. Rose crossed second, third Beennett,
fourth Carter and fifth went to Danny Sullivan.
The Limited Late Models started their main event until mother nature decided she
wanted to lead the way, after lap seven Andy Anderson was leading the way until
rain struck. This feature will be continued from lap seven.
The U-Car and 4 Cylinder main events were rained out and will be made up at a
later date to be announced.
