East Bay DART Winternationals News and Notes

WAYCROSS, GA (December 15, 2011) - For the 8th consecutive year, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the DART Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL. The 36th Annual DART Winternationals will be held from Sunday, February 12th to Saturday, February 18th. This year's events at the famed "Clay by the Bay" will kick off a little later than usual, moving back to the second full week in February. Each night, holtaps will begin at 6:00PM, with a full show to follow. The decision to push back the start times will serve fans and competitors well, allowing local fans to catch more of the action each night. Travelling fans will get to explore the greater Tampa Bay area and see the sights before heading to the track. For the competitors, the new start times will allow less laps on the track while the sun is still beating down on it, keeping the track nice and tacky all night long.

"The promoters Al, Todd and Mike along the series, made the decision to push back the start times to enhance the wide open, side-by-side, 'East Bay style' racing. Allowing the sun to set before we get started will help to ensure better racing by the drivers and more high-flying action for the fans," stated Ritchie Lewis, Series Director.

The tire rule for the 2012 East Bay Winternationals will be as follows: American Racer SD23, SD33, SD38, SD44, SD48 and MD56 along with Hoosier 1100, 1200, 1300, 1350, LM20, LM40, 1600 and the shoulder plated D55. Tire dimensions will be checked for circumference and width according to the LOLMDS Rule Book. Wheel widths will also be checked as outlined in the LOLMDS Rule Book. Additionally, each competitor must use the same set of 4 tires for both time trials and heat race in order to maintain their original starting spot in their assigned heat race. If a competitor does not use the same tires that they qualified on for their heat race, the competitor will start the heat race from the tail of the field.

If a driver has a flat tire during their time trials, they must take that tire to LOLMDS Technical Director, AJ Bingham, for inspection. He will determine if the competitor will be relegated to the tail of the field or if the competitor will be allowed to compete with a previously used tire of the same compound and retain their assigned starting position in their heat race. For the B-Mains, competitors must use three of the four tires that the competitor used for qualifing and his heat race, and will only be allowed one new tire for the B-Main. For the feature, competitors may use all new tires.

The use of a head and neck restraint device/systems, certified to SFI Spec 38.1 is required, per the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rule Book. This rule went into effect on September 1st, 2010. Any driver that has not entered in an LOLMDS competition or has not reached their three-race grace period after this rule went into effect will still receive the three-race grace period or the remainder thereof, but must comply once they have exceeded the grace period during the 6 races that make up the DART Winternationals.

Jimmy Owens Captures 2011 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship; Jared Landers Takes Quarter Master

Rookie of the Year Honors

WAYCROSS, GA (November 9, 2011) - Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN has captured the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship. The Newport Nightmare claimed his first series championship with an 80-point margin over Scott Bloomquist, the two time defending series champion.

In one of the most competitive points battles ever in a national tour, Owens and Bloomquist traded the points leads during this season a total of seven times. Owens' remarkable consistency during the year enabled him to clinch the title at the season finale "U.S. Steel Dirt Track World Championship" (OH). Owens set fast time at the event and finished second in the feature event while Bloomquist finished fourth.

Owens won eight Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events during the season. His wins came at East Bay Raceway Park (FL), Lucas Oil Speedway (MO), Cleveland Speedway (TN), Fonda Speedway (NY), Florence Speedway (KY), Volunteer Speedway (TN), Knoxville Raceway (IA) and Rome Speedway (GA).

During the season, Owens recorded 32 top five finishes and 35 top ten finishes. Owens started the season with a string of 24 top five finishes in 25 starts. Owens completed every LOLMDS points race that was contested during the season with no DNF's the entire season.

Scott Bloomquist led the series with 15 wins and finished second in the final Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship points standings. Don O'Neal (a two-time series runner-up) finished an impressive year in third. Steve Francis of Ashland, KY claimed fourth place in his first full year of competition in the series and Jared Landers of Batesville, AR finished in fifth place.

Completing the top ten in the series championship points standings are: the 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL (sixth), John Blankenship of Williamson, WV (seventh), Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY (eighth), Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC (ninth) and Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA finished tenth.

Along with finishing in fifth place, Jared Landers won the 2011 Quarter Master Rookie of the Year Award. Landers bested 15-year-old Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA to win the title in his first full-year of dirt late model racing. Landers won a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Tazewell Speedway (TN). He had a total of seven top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes, which allowed him to distance himself from Reddick as the season progressed.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will honor the series champion and the top ten in the series points standings at the series year-end awards banquet to be held at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN on December 8th, in conjunction with the IMIS Trade Show.

The vast touring dirt late model series has 46 confirmed dates in 19 different states adding several new markets to the series schedule in 2012 including Nebraska, Mississippi and Michigan. The series completed 39 events in 2011 with an industry high average of 49 cars per event. The series also saw more than 500 different competitors during the 2011 campaign. Heading into 2012,the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is elated to announce its official national schedule, having confirmed all dates with promoters and adding two additional big paying races to the schedule, the "Commonwealth 100" at Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, VA and the "Silver Dollar Nationals" at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE both paying $25,000 to win.

The 2012 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series national tour will kick off at the "Clay by the Bay" on February 13thwith the six consecutive nights of action packed racing during the 36th Annual Dart Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will again be sanctioning some of the sport's biggest events such as the Commonwealth 100, Dart Show-Me 100, Silver Dollar Nationals, Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100, COMP Cams Topless 100, Hillbilly 100, Jackson 100, Knoxville Late Model Nationals and the season finale the Dirt Track World Championship.

In addition to announcing the 2012 series schedule, series officials are pleased to announce a purse increase for series events that pay $10,000 and $20,000 to win in 2012. Additional funds have been added to each purse structure, increasing the start money to $800 to start on the $10,000 to win shows and $1,200 to start on the $20,000 to win shows.

"With the economy and price of fuel we felt like we needed to increase the purse structures for the racers but still maintain an affordable purse for promoters to pay out as well. We feel that we have the best show in Dirt Late Model Racing, and I can't thank our promoters, my staff, our drivers, car owners, sponsors, and our fans enough for their support. We have put together a great infrastructure for making the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series the foremost national late model touring series in the country", stated Ritchie Lewis, series director

O'Neal Wins U. S. Steel Dirt Track World Championship; Owens Clinches Lucas Oil Series Title

ALMA, OH (October 15, 2011) - Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN led flag-to-flag in capturing the 31st Annual Dirt Track World Championship Presented by Sunoco on Saturday Night at Atomic Speedway. O'Neal started on the pole and paced the field the entire distance to earn $50,000 for his first career win in the event. Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN finished second, enabling him to clinch the 2011 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship. Josh Richards of Shinnston, WV came home third followed by Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN and Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC.

O'Neal waited through several caution flags during the event, none of which were major incidents as he brought the MasterSbilt House Car home for the third crown jewel win of the season and his fifth series victory of the year. "Tonight was all about tire management, we were a little softer than the second and third place cars, we just bided our time out there, I drove it as straight as I could, it's pretty easy when you've got a good race car," said the 47-year-old driver, who finished third in the championship points.

O'Neal had some timely cautions as he was about to catch up to the tail end of the field. "I didn't want to see that lapped traffic, the race was one-lane all night, there wasn't much they could do about it, after starting late afternoon while the sun is still up and the rain last night. I have to thank MasterSbilt Race Cars, Randy, Tader and Cody and all those guys back at the shop, they make it possible for me to run as well as we do, Jay Dickens Racing Engines, they been solid all year long, I have to thank Magnaflow Exhaust for coming on board this year, VP Fuels, Superior Cleaning, Independence Lumber, Janowski Insurance and Second Chance Livestock Dispatch and all of our product sponsors we couldn't do it with them."

Owens trailed O'Neal the entire distance to finish second. In doing so, he clinched his first career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Title after finishing runner-up the last two years to Scott Bloomquist. "We came here to win the race of course, but once we got into second we took a few shots at the lead, but we've had a great year," said the driver of the Mike Reece owned, Bloomquist Race Cars Ford.

"You've got to be consistent to win this thing, top five finishes are so important, you've got to able to capitalize when someone else has misfortune, that's part of it," said the 39-year-old Owens who captured eight series wins this year on his way to the championship.

"To say we beat Scott Bloomquist, means a lot, he builds a great race car, I know we went back-and-forth all year in the points battle, my crew worked their tails off all year, we are glad to be celebrating after this race, we were conservative on tires, Don was setting a great pace there tonight, we were glad we didn't hit a lot of traffic. I have to thank everyone from the fans, our souvenir people, and all of our sponsors for their support."

Richards was able to get around Bloomquist to finish 3rd in the Kentucky Fuel, Roush-Yates, Rocket Ford as Bloomquist wound up 4th, ending the year second in points in the Miller Brothers Construction, Roush-Yates, Bloomquist Race Cars Ford. Cook finished the season off with a top five finish in the D&R Racing, Rockstar Energy Drink, MasterSbilt Chevrolet.

Completing the top ten were John Blankenship of Williamson, WV; Steve Francis of Ashland, KY; Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN; Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; and R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, OH.

ROME, GA (October 9, 2011) - Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN inherited the lead on lap 37 when smoke began heavily barreling out race leader, Scott Bloomquist's, car. Owens then led the rest of the way for his first ever win at Rome. More importantly for him, he re-took the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship points by 50 heading into the season ending U.S. Steel Dirt Track World Championship presented by Sunoco at KC Raceway next weekend. Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA finished second, followed by Clint Smith of Senoia, GA; Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN; and Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.

Bloomquist started on the outside of the front row, alongside 15-year-old Tyler Reddick, who was the polesitter. Bloomquist bolted to a quick early lead with McDowell, Smith, and Owens trailing. Bloomquist built a good-sized lead with just ten laps into the 50 lap event. The first caution of the race came out on lap 25 for Eric Wells. On the restart Bloomquist opened up a healthy advantage over McDowell. Owens took over the second slot on lap 26. With 20 to go in the race Bloomquist had built nearly a straightaway lead over Owens as a torrid battle for third was going on between McDowell, Smith, and O'Neal.

Bloomquist continued to be solid as he was looking to sweep the LOLMDS weekend in Georgia. He captured the Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout last night. Bloomquist' car started to smoke as he was just about to enter heavy lapped traffic again. Bloomquist then started to slow as heavy smoke was pouring from his car. Bloomquist eventually stopped on the track, bringing out the next caution.

Bloomquist headed pitside and as his crew took a close look at the car. It was apparent that there was a terminal problem. Owens inherited the top spot with 13 laps to go. He then pulled away from a terrific finish for second between three drivers.

In Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the 29th time in his career, Owens set himself up for his first LOLMDS title. "Scott had a good car, you know we hate to see that happen to anybody, but we'll take it anyway we can get it," said the 39-year old driver of the Mike Reece owned number 20.

"You have got to be there at the end to make it count, hats off to my crew, Chris (Fox) made a good decision on tires tonight. We were pretty good there at the end, and we look forward to heading into next weekend in Ohio, both of us have had a great year. It's going to come down to one race, he's been plagued by things that normally get us, it's all good. I'm glad to have all these fans here to cheer for us."

Owens' Bloomquist Race Cars Ford is powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and sponsored by Reece Monument Company, Gantte Appraisals, Red Line Oil, Midwest Sheet Metal, Ohlins, Hoosier and C&C Trucking.

McDowell finished second, barely edging out two other drivers for the spot. McDowell's Crawford Supply, Klotz Synthetic Lubricants, Clint Bowyer Rocket Chevrolet. Smith was third in the JP Drilling, Racetek Race Engines, Rocket Chevrolet as he had a near-photo finish with O'Neal in the Magnaflow Exhaust, Jay Dickens Racing Engines, MasterSbilt Chevy.

Completing the top ten were Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, GA; Steve Francis of Ashland, KY, Chris Madden of Gaffney, SC; Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, GA; and Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA.

In preliminary action Scott Bloomquist was the Red Buck Cigar Fast Qualifier among the 39 entrants on hand. Heat race winners were Tyler Reddick, Dale McDowell, Scott Bloomquist and Steve Francis. The B-mains went to Tommy Kerr and Chris Brown.

The final Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will take place next Friday and Saturday, October 14th and 15th at KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH for the U. S. Steel Dirt Track World Championship Presented by Sunoco paying $50,000 to win. For more information on tickets, visit www.kc-raceway.com.

Scott Bloomquist Extends Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

Points Lead with Win at Dixie

WOODSTOCK, GA (October 8, 2011) - Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN picked up a big win on Saturday night at Dixie Speedway. The victory marked his sixth career Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout, in front of the near-record crowd. With the $10,000 to win triumph, Bloomquist extended his Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series points lead to 65-points over Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN,]; who finished fourth.

Bloomquist grabbed the lead at the start of the race with Don O'Neal and Ray Cook behind him. O'Neal developed problems on the second lap as his car began having handling problems which forced him out of the race.

When the race resumed Bloomquist held the point with Cook in the runner-up slot. Bloomquist pulled away from Cook as the race progressed. Bloomquist started to hit heavy traffic with 13 laps complete. With heavy traffic to deal with for the leader, Cook and Casebolt started to close on him at the halfway mark of the race. Casebolt moved into second on lap 28 passing Cook as the trio of Bloomquist, Casebolt and Cook were all battling for the lead.

Casebolt tried a repeatedly to get underneath Bloomquist for the lead as they continued to race through traffic. With 37 laps scored a caution came out for 2011 Dixie Speedway Track Champion, Michael Page who slowed on the front stretch. During the caution Casebolt relinquished his second place running position as he headed to the pits with axle issue in his car.

Cook then moved into second with Chris Madden now running third. On the restart Madden took over second as Cook dropped to third. Madden ran second until he fell out of the race with just two laps remaining.

Bloomquist cruised to the finish unchallenged in the final laps as he secured his 15th Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of 2011. His victory comes in his Roush-Yates Ford powered Bloomquist Race Cars entry. "It was a good points night for us, we set fast time in our group and led every lap here tonight in the heat and feature. There are still two more races to go so it's not over yet. I know Jimmy will fight all the way to end next week at KC."

Cook, in one of his best Lucas Oil Series finishes of the year took second in the Rockstar Energy Drink/ Makita, Race Engine Design, MasterSbilt Chevrolet. Clanton placed third in the Ronnie Dobbins, SAE Parts, Rocket Chevrolet. Owens, who started 11th, came home fourth in the Mike Reece Monument Company, Bloomquist Race Cars Ford. Reddick had his second consecutive top five finish in the Broken Bow Records, Gaerte Racing Engines, Bloomquist Race Cars Chevrolet.

Completing the top ten were: Aaron Ridley of Chatsworth, GA; Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY; Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA; Steve Francis of Ashland, KY; and Clint Smith of Senoia, GA.

In preliminary action Don O'Neal was the Red Buck Cigars Fast Qualifier among the 52 entrants. Heat race winners were Scott Bloomquist, Ray Cook, Don O'Neal, and Aaron Ridley. Chip Brindle and John Blankenship won the B-mains.

Coming up Sunday night, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads to Rome Speedway in Rome, GA for the Rome Showdown paying $10,000 to win. For more information visit www.raceromespeedway.com.

Don O'Neal Takes $40,000 Victory in Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals

KNOXVILLE, IA (October 1, 2011) - Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN took over the lead from a faltering Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN on lap 96 as he went on to capture the $40,000 to win 8th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals Presented by Casey's General Stores on Saturday Night at Knoxville Raceway. O'Neal took the win over Steve Francis of Ashland, KY; Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA; Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA; and Owens, who slipped to fifth at the finish.

Austin Hubbard started off the first of the 100 laps of racing by leading the first 23 circuits. O'Neal then charged from his eighth starting spot to grab the lead on the 24th lap. O'Neal and Hubbard ran first and second until lap 56 when Owens made his presence known and moved into second around Hubbard.

Owens shot by O'Neal for the lead on the 60th lap as O'Neal dropped to second followed by Hubbard, Jimmy Mars, and Birkhofer. Owens built a huge lead over the field as he began lapping cars at a rapid pace. One of the cars that Owens lapped was Scott Bloomquist, who had pitted.

With 25 laps to go, it was all Owens leading O'Neal, Mars, Hubbard, and Birkhofer. Hubbard then caught up to O'Neal and passed him for second on lap 79. O'Neal charged back by Hubbard to regain the position with 15 laps remaining.

Mars then came to a halt in turn number two with 88 laps complete. The restart turned out to be wild and crazy with Owens holding the lead with pressure from O'Neal. O'Neal made the move into turn number three to take the lead, but the caution came out for a metal wheel cover that was stuck in the track in turn number two.

The final restart of race proved to be exciting as Owens once again shut the door on O'Neal down the front stretch. But O'Neal was not done yet. Owens started to slow as he hooked the berm, which affected the handling on his car. O'Neal then took the lead off of turn number four passing Owens, who had lost his momentum.

O'Neal powered away from the field to score the victory in his first visit to Knoxville in seven years. The cars of Francis, Birkhofer and Reddick all got by Owens in the final laps. "That cushion bit me a couple of times," said the 47-year-old in Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the fourth time in 2011. "I was lucky to hang on for second as long as I did. There at the end, it finally got him (Owens), he raced me clean on those restarts, I would have done the same thing to him, and it was a great race."

"I have to thank Magnaflow Exhaust for being on the car and MasterSbilt Race Cars, Larry Moring and Ronnie Stuckey for all of their help. Also, thanks to my regular car owner, Tader Masters and everybody else. We've had a good year in this car as well as our regular ride. It feels great to come back here and win after what happened to us the last time here when I got hurt," said O'Neal.

The MasterSbilt Chevrolet is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Freeport Recycling Center, MDI Environmental Systems, Graphic Arts Express, Hoosier Tires, and Ohlins.

Francis charged from his 12th starting spot to finish second at the line. "We had a real good car, after the year we have had it feels good to be here on the podium with these guys. We had a pretty wild finish there, Jimmy had a great car, he was long gone it looked like it. I don't know if he hit the cushion or what, but we will definitely take this second place and go from here," said the driver of the Valvoline, Roush-Yates, MasterSbilt Ford. Birkhofer, who won on Friday Night placed third in the J&J Steel, Pro Power Racing Engines, MB Customs entry. Reddick in his best ever run at Knoxville came home fourth in the Broken Bow Records, Gaerte Racing Engines, Bloomquist Race Cars Chevrolet. Owens limped across the finish line for fifth in the Reece Monument Company, Cornett Racing Engines, Bloomquist Race Cars Ford.

The remainder of the top ten were Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR; Austin Hubbard of Seaford, DE; Brady Smith of Solon Springs, WI; Bub McCool of Vicksburg, MS; and Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will be in action next weekend with events on Saturday Night, October 8th at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA and Sunday Night, October 9th at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA. Both events will pay $10,000 to win.

Scott Bloomquist Takes Fourth Career Jackson 100

Win Saturday at Brownstown

BROWNSTOWN, IN (September 24, 2011) Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN won his fourth consecutive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race as he won the Jackson 100 on Saturday Night at Brownstown Speedway. The event sponsored by Bryan Bowman Dodge/Jeep earned Bloomquist $20,000. The victory also makes him the first 4-time winner of the annual event. Bloomquist had to hold off the late race charges from Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN to take the win. Owens finished second followed by 19th starting Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN; Jared Landers of Batesville, AR; and Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN.

Brad Neat paced the field for the first 34 laps, until he spun in turn four while leading the race. Bloomquist, on the restart then inherited the top spot. Owens and James battled it out for second as O'Neal, made his way into the top three around James on lap 48.

At the halfway mark, Bloomquist was followed by Owens, O'Neal, James, and John Blankenship. The race was red-flagged with 57 laps scored when Josh McGuire flipped his car in turn number one. McGuire was unhurt in the incident.

Owens and O'Neal raced side-by-side for several laps as Bloomquist stretched his lead out. Owens finally cleared O'Neal on lap 72, and then he set his sights on Bloomquist. Bloomquist maintained a good-sized lead over Owens as the race wound down. Owens started his rally with ten laps to go and when Bloomquist hooked a rut in turn four, the #20 closed right on the back of Bloomquist. Bloomquist re-grouped, but lost the gap between himself and Owens, who was all over him in the final laps. As the two entered some traffic Owens dove to the bottom groove and challenged Bloomquist for the lead on the final circuit, but Bloomquist managed to barely hold on and take the victory.

In Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the 14th time this season, Bloomquist, was elated with the win. "The car was good all night, Brad was running well there for a long-time and I don't know what caused him to spin. Once we got the lead, I thought we had pulled out enough over Jimmy, but I hooked the rut down there in four and it nearly cost me," said the 47-year-old Hall of Fame driver.

"We fortunately got it back going again and I saw Jimmy there, then I had the traffic to deal with, Jimmy made it close at the end, but we held on," said the driver of the Miller Brothers Construction, Hawkeye Trucking, Sweet Mfg, Base Racing Fuels, and Ohlins sponsored Bloomquist Race Cars Ford powered by a Roush-Yates engine.

Bloomquist now holds a 40-point lead over Owens heading into to the series' next race, Tuesday Night at La Salle (IL) Speedway. "I thought I might get him there at the end," said Owens, who started alongside Bloomquist in row number three. "The car was fast all weekend, I saw him hit that hole in four, and I thought maybe I had a chance on the last lap, I tried to get underneath him, but I just didn't have enough grip to pass him," said the driver of the Mike Reece, Reece Monument Company, Bloomquist Race Cars Ford.

O'Neal had the crowd on its feet as well with his charge through the field. "That's why they are the two best drivers in the country right now," said O'Neal, who maintains third in the series points. "The car was awesome, we were just behind the eight ball after the heat race, if we could have started closer to the front it might have been a different story."

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Tightest Points Ever

Rumbles into Dixie and Rome

WAYCROSS, GA (September 5, 2011) - With just three events left in the 2011 racing season, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is in the midst of it's closest point battle in history. Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN and Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN go head-to-head this upcoming weekend in the Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout and Rome Showdown.

On Saturday Night, October 8th the Swims Family welcomes the stars of the LOLMDS to Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA for the Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout. The next night, the series travels to Rome Speedway in Rome, GA for the Rome Showdown. Both events will pay $10,000 to win and $700 to start.

Bloomquist and Owens, the two winningest drivers this year on the LOLMDS tour have combined to win 21 events this year and are separated by a mere 15-points heading into the events this weekend. Bloomquist is the 2-time and defending series champion and Owens is seeking his first national title after finishing second to Bloomquist for the last two years.

The final point's race of the season will be on October 14th and 15th at the U. S. Steel Dirt Track World Championship Presented by Sunoco Race Fuels at KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH. The event pays $50,000 to win.

Trailing Bloomquist and Owens in the Lucas Oil Championship Points' hunt is Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN. He is the $40,000 winner of the Crown Jewel, 8th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals last weekend at Knoxville Raceway in Iowa. Steve Francis of Ashland, KY; who finished second to O'Neal last Saturday in Knoxville; is fourth in points followed by Jared Landers of Batesville, AR.

Landers currently leads 15-year-old racer Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA in the battle for 2011 Quarter Master Rookie of the Year.
