NASCAR Star Kenny Wallace scheduled to appear at the Elkins (WV) Speedway
By Bob Reed
KERENS, WV - Just a few weeks back at the helm of Elkins Speedway and already promoter D.Jay Miller is forcing fans to take another look at the historic quarter-mile dirt oval located in the small town of Kerens, WV just a few miles north of Elkins, WV.
Kenny the youngest of the three racing Wallace brothers will appear at the Elkins Speedway for a special event Thursday, May 20th.
The 47 year old racer was born in St Louis, Missouri but now resides in Concord, North Carolina. He is well known for his asphalt endeavors but certainly, is no stranger to the dirt tracks. He competes in his own e-modified throughout the southeast and in a dirt LM yearly at the Prelude to the Dream at The Eldora Speedway.
"It is very exciting to welcome Kenny Wallace to Elkins Speedway" said promoter D.Jay Miller.
"Kenny didn't come to sit around and sign autographs, he is a very intense competitor and will have his own dirt modified to put the locals to the test. We are also trying to line Kenny up with a dirt late model as well, so fans will have plenty of opportunities to watch Kenny race", Miller continued.
"How cool is this?" commented Elkins Speedway spokesman Jimmy Henry. "I've watched Kenny race on some big, high-banked dirt tracks before and he isn't afraid to three-wheel a dirt car, that's for sure! Kenny has assured us that he will spend a lot of time with his fans at Elkins Speedway so there will be plenty of opportunity for the fans to come out and meet him in person...come to
think of it, I'm not sure what Kenny is more popular for: racing or talking!" laughed Henry.
Elkins Speedway promoter D.Jay Miller went on to say, "Scheduling a good time for Kenny to come out and compete with us has been a tough chore, but we are pleased to announce that Kenny will be racing and signing autographs at Elkins Speedway on a special race date of Thursday night, May 20, 2010. This event will include all weekly scheduled classes, including a special $1,500 to win
30-lap event for Super Late Models. Kenny Wallace will appear 2 hours before race time to meet the fans and sign autographs."
This special event will replace races scheduled for Friday, May 21.
There will be no racing on Friday, May 21, 2010.
More details about the event will be forthcoming.
