FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- - -THANK YOU
URC CALLS FOR ALL 2009 COMPETITORS TO ATTEND THE SPRING COMPETITION MEETING ON
SUNDAY, MARCH 22
There is plenty of good news to be announced at the 2009 URC Spring Competition
Meeting set for Sunday, March 22. The meeting will take place at the Clarion
Hotel, 1612 North Dupont Highway in New Castle, DE 19720. The Clarion sits just
to the right on the Delaware side of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. A special
Rookie Orientation will take place from 12 Noon to 1 PM. At 1 PM the Spring
Competition Meeting will begin.
Topics to be reviewed include the 2009 Rislone URC Sprint Series schedule,
payoff and payoff procedures, handicapping, race procedures, teching policy and
sponsors. Special events always play a part in the URC schedule and the coming
year will be no different. Details of the Rislone Sprint Nationals, the Jack
Gunn Memorial and the New York Sprint Challenge at Weedsport are all posted on
the Competitors page of the URC website and will be reviewed at the Meeting.
URC licenses will also be on sale at the Spring Competition Meeting on March 22
and license applications will be posted on the URC website by the end of the
week. Rand Insurance excess medical insurance has been increased from $75,000 to
$100,000. The URC Managing Members feel this is an important need with the
on-going rising costs of medical coverage. This is URC's way to help competitors
so they have adequate coverage when taking part in any event.
As a result of this additional coverage, there is a slight increase of $20
annually per competitor. This cost is less than $1 per race per competitor for
the extra coverage of $25,000. Mechanic license fees will remain the same as
2008. Mechanics may also purchase secondary insurance although URC recommends
this coverage, it is not required. URC Competitors will now have a minimum
of $175,000 in medical coverage for each URC sanctioned event.
New teams and potential URC rookie drivers are encouraged to attend the URC
Spring Competition Meeting.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- - -THANK YOU
OCEAN VIEW, DE
March 7, 2009
CURT MICHAEL LOOKS FOR SEVENTH URC TITLE
Some drivers try for years to win their first event series championship
title, but for Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE, he seems to have a rather
flawless calculated approach that has earned his six Rislone URC Sprint Series
Championships. "There are a lot of things that go into winning a championship
and it all starts in the shop, you can't have DNF's because you know accidents
will happen on the track,. . . so you have to limit the mechanical failures.
Then, the driver and team have to try their best every night and be content with
a top five or even a top ten on a given night when they are running for the
championship", said Michael.
Michael's comments, certainly makes sense, but he makes it sound far much easier
then it really is. If you watch URC's multi-time champion on the race track, he
also seems to know what is happening a quarter lap ahead of him, as he has a
remarkable ability to avoid the "big one", it's almost like he can see it
happening before the first car gets out of shape. If you watch Michael before
the race, he will go to the line-up board and study it deeply, almost like he
has an ability to see the immediate future.
There must be pressure anytime a driver tries to repeat a championship. For
Michael, it's not external pressure as much as self induced pressure, especially
in 2008. "I went to a team that has tried for a few years to win a championship
and has finished second or third to me. I was hoping to be some of the
difference in getting them over the hump. was really happy to be part of
the team to get Bill (Gallagher) his first URC championship, and now the
pressure is off". Michael went on to say, "I will continue to race the way I do
and whatever happens will happen, sooner or later, I'm not going to win the
points deal and I will be fine with winning the number of championships I have
at that point."
Each year, the point chase in URC always seems to be close, but at the end of
the year, it's usually Curt Michael holding the most points. "I might not have
been the leading feature winner, but I won my fair share of features like I
usually do. I think the handicapping keeps the win totals close, but when it
comes to consistency, we have been hard to beat". There is no doubt that two
contributors to Curt's success is that he doesn't crash and his car rarely
breaks. With that said, Curt knows how to drive a car to its limit and
never beyond, so in other words, when he has a third or fourth place car, he's
not bouncing off the wall trying to go for the win.
"I don't really go into a race night thinking I have to do anything special. I
go to every race trying to win. When you have a point average that does not
spike up and down, it makes it hard to win every week". Michael also said,
"Knowing the track conditions and starting spots in the heats and features mean
a lot on any given night. There is a point in the feature where I realize
I'm probably not going to win that night. I will continue to race hard, but I
understand there would be no point in crashing the car, just so the team could
say we would have won the race if we didn't crash." Now that may sound like a
conservative approach, but when the timing is right, Curt Michael will take a
run for the win.
It was just last fall at the Rolling Wheels Raceway when it appeared that Curt
Michael would earn a solid second place finish. Running about full backstretch
behind the leader Trevor Lewis, there were just five lap remaining. Michael saw
an opportunity and quickly began to reel in Lewis. Entering turn three on the
final lap, Michael made an inside pass and took the lead. As Lewis attempted to
regain the lost position, he tangled with a spinning lap car and Michael went on
to take the win, a remarkable and joyous celebration in victory lane followed.
It was a night at one point, were Michael saw a second place finish as
perhaps his best, but as the situation changed, so did his thirst for the win.
As for 2009, Curt Michael is looking forward to working with the eam of the 5G.
With all their success in 2008, the team has a lot of fun at the races no matter
if they win or miss the set-up and struggle a little. The approach for the
coming will be the same. Curt Michael and the Bill Gallagher racing team arenot
going to change their championship winning strategy, but in turn, force their
competitors to figure out the combination they need to crown a new champion.

Tim's Racing Photos Launches New Website for 2009
After participating in the 2009 Motorsports show in Atlantic City, Co-Owner of
Tim's Racing Photos (Karen Moran) decided to totally redo the website. The NEW
Tim's Racing Photos Website was released in early February. The address stays
the same, www.timsracingphotos.com,
but the site is totally reworked, and looking better than ever.
TRP in 2009 will continue to be the official photographers for the United Racing
Company (URC) Sprint Cars, and will be back at the ¼ midget track of
Phoenixville every Wednesday night. In what has become a tradition for TRP, we
continue to give back to the racers in 2009. New for 2009, TRP will sponsor a
nightly "bonus" for the URC drivers. The first driver not to qualify for the
race will receive $50 cash. Along with the URC bonus, TRP has decided to sponsor
May 27th at Phoenixville Raceway. TRP has worked very hard with Michele Pinder
and the whole Phoenixville staff to make this night possible.
Continuing in 2009, TRP will offer any driver that is willing to put a decal on
their car an additional 10% off of any photo order, along with other perks
during the racing seson. In 2009, TRP will also continue to organize the very
popular driver autograph sessions. These sessions are designed to bring the fans
closer to the drivers, and also give the drivers an opportunity to thank the
fans for their continued support. The drivers are well aware that the fans are
what make the show, and are always willing to sign some autographs, pose for
photos, and engage in general conversations about the nights events.
URC will kick off its year on Saturday night, April 11, 2009 at the Bridgeport
Speedway. This race will have a new winner as last years winner Dave Ely has
switched to the 410 ranks. Curt Michael will be looking to defend his title
again aboard the Bill Gallagher owned 5g. Also JJ Grasso in his new Palladino
#99 ride will be looking to start the year off on the right foot. All the URC
stars and cars will be on hand. You won't want to miss a second of the action
with the likes of Sammons, Grasso, Michael, Purks, Coyle, and Gravel to name a
few.

JAY SHYPINKA & EDDIE WAGNER SIGN ON AS URC ROOKIES FOR 2009
The URC Rookie of the Year honors continues to draw new talent and 2009 will be
no different. For the coming season, Jay Shypinka and Eddie Wagner have
registered and plan to chase the URC Rookie title.
Jay Shypinka will make the weekly tow from Thomaston, CT . Shypinka raced ATV
professionally and also competed on the Central NY Mini Sprint and Easter Outlaw
Mini Sprint circuits. Jay grew up watching URC events and was close with Fiore's
during their run of URC. As a race fan, Jay enjoyed watching Buck Buckley
and Ed Wylie. Jay's grandfather, Wing Bouley was a successful sprint car driver.
Shypinka will run a J&J Chassis and carry the number 138 that will be powered by
a Jereco Competition power plant. Shypinka plans to make most of the races and
they send their thanks to URC racer Dave Gravel for their help and encouragement
in taking on this challenge. "I finally was able to put a car together and the
timing was just right. I really enjoy that URC is so family oriented and I
don't know of a better group to run with", commented Shypinka.
Eddie Wagner makes his home in Franklinville, NJ. At just eighteen years old,
Wagner already has a racing history, competing in Quarter Midgets and most
recently, Micro Sprints. Eddie has a lot ofbackground in URC as his dad worked
with the very successful Palladino Motorsports URC entry. "I can't wait to race
with guys that I watched race growing up and to run at the legendary Williams
Grove Speedway. Our goal in our first year is to run to qualify and hopefully,
by the end of the year will can win a feature", said Wagner. The Wagner entry
will carry the #70 on a Maxim Chassis that will be powered by a Garret power
plant.
Just a reminder, the URC Spring Competition Meeting is set for Sunday, March 22
at the Clarion Hotel 1612 North Dupont Highway in New Castle, DE 19720. A

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- - -THANK YOU
UNITED RACING COMPANY CHIPS REWARD PROGRAM RETURNS FOR 2009
Competitors of URC will again be rewarded for their promotional efforts during
the 2009 URC Rislone Sprint Series. Drivers and Car Owners that participate in a
variety of URC promotions, will earn a chip for each activity in the
coming season. Chips may be earned by displaying their URC sprint car in a car
show or special event, by participating ona TV or Radio show or even doing a
racing night Autograph Session. Of course, the more activities a driver
participates in, the more chips they earn. At the annual URC Awards Banquet, a
drawing will take place with the winner receiving a $500 cash reward. So the
more activities a driver or car owner participates in, the more chips they earn,
increasing their chances to win the drawing.
In 2008, thirty-five drivers or owners took part in one-hundred and twenty URC
promotional activities throughout the season. Kramer Williamson was the winner
of the draw, earning $500 in cash at last year's banquet.
Already in 2009, twelve competitors have taken part in a URC pre-season
promotion. Davey Sammons, Jimmy Martin, Bill Gallagher, Curt Michael, Becca
Anderson, JJ Grasso, Rory Janney, Danny Massey, Kyle Purks, Mark Bitner, Brett
Schoenly and Robbie Stillwaggon have already earned chips. Throughout the
season, the chips standings are posted on the homepage of the URC website.
The Chips Reward Program is now in its third year and URC Managing Members view
this activity has a great opportunity for URC to gain exposure as well as
the driver, owner, race team as well as team sponsors.
On Saturday, April 11, the Rislone URC Sprint Series will kick off their
sixty-second season with the opener set for the Bridgeport Speedway in
Bridgeport, NJ. Race two will take place at the Delaware International Speedway
on Saturday night, April 18. For a complete look at the Rislone URC Sprint

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- - -THANK YOU
"THE JERSEY JET" TO PILOT THE "MALAGA MISSILE" AFTER LANDING
THE PALLADINO MOTORSPORTS RIDE FOR 2009
One of the most exciting drivers in recent URC history, JJ Grasso of Pedricktown,
NJ will fill the seat of the potent Palladino Motorsports #99. After a long
negotiation that took place over the past two weeks, Palladino Motorsports made
the announcement today. "I was very impressed with JJ's work habits and
sincerity about driving our car". Pat Palladino continued to say, "After
watching him at several races last year, it was obvious the young man had come a
long way in his driving ability. His enthusiasm is equal to ours on
getting started with the 2009 season." So for 2009, look for the "The Jersey
JET" to drive the "Malaga Missile" #99. The Palladino Motorsports race
team shop is located in Malaga, NJ.
Grasso owns six career URC wins with five of those victories coming his way in
2008. With plans on just running part of the season in 2008, Grasso made a late
season rally to finish third in the overall Rislone URC Sprint Series point
chase. From race fans to track promoters and even his competition was
amazed at Grasso's thrilling driving style that delivered such outstanding
success in 2008. That very driving style is what earned JJ the ride in the
Palladino #99.
"All of our sponsors have been notified and are eagerly returning for the
upcoming season - BK Leasing, CnB Mushroom Farms, Don Ott Racing Engines, Bowen
Seafood, Dick Feeser, Realtor, Washington Pediatrics, Jim's Lettering, Ed Wagner
& Son Trucking, Hank's Performance, J&J Auto Racing, Art's Radiator, Fastener
Specialties, Kinsler Fuel Injection, Top Flight Wings and Weld Wheels", added
Pat Palladino.
The Palladino/Grasso Team is certainly a threat to consider as they chase the
2009 Rislone URC Sprint Series Championship. URC is close to announcing their
complete schedule. At the present time, a schedule of approximately twenty-six
to twenty-eight race dates are expected.
