Virginia Motor Speedway Adds Crate Late Models
to Victory Lap Late Model Division
Jamaica, VA – Due to the increased interest by competitors and the current
economic conditions officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway have
decided to add Crate Late Models as an option for the tracks Late Model
division. The GM Performance 604 and 602 motors will now be allowed to run in
the Victory Lap Late Model division for the 2009 season and beyond.
“Over the last couple of years we have been inundated with requests to add Crate
Late Models to our racing here at VMS and with the current economy making it
more difficult for our competitors to race, we felt that now was the right time
to introduce crates to our mix,” commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.
Sawyer then added, “We have done some extensive research in an attempt to make
sure the Crate Late Models are competitive with our Late Models and with the
changes we hope to see the crate car count build over time to become a stand
alone division here at VMS.”
Engine rules for the GM Performance 604 and 602 engines will follow the Fastrak
Racing Series engine guidelines and will be strictly enforced.
For more information competitors should visit the speedway’s website or call the

All Dirt, Live and On Demand: DIRT NATION is re-branded DIRT CAST
Duluth, MN – Dirt Nation, the online destination for dirt track racing fans to
listen to and download interviews has undergone a name change to properly
endorse the various technologies currently offered and those to be added in the
future. The new name is Dirt Cast and the website has been moved to
www.dirtcast.com.
The change, long in the planning stages at Dirt Nation, was ramped up due to
increasing interest in the site in the past month and projected growth in the
next calendar year. Dirt Cast offers the same functions as what was Dirt Nation
and will be expanded on in the coming months. Dirt Cast offers On Demand Podcast
interviews that can be downloaded and played on your PC, played on the website,
or listened to on Itunes. Live Broadcast dates will be released in the coming
weeks in addition to the testing of live video throughout 2009 and increased
functionality for accessing broadcasts, broadcast archives, podcasts, and
premium content.
“It's a natural transition,” stated Dave Seay, lead host of Dirt Cast. “We had
planned the move to Dirt Cast, but it was not planned until the 4th quarter of
2009. The interest in the product in the last month has sped up our growth, and
we are very excited to deploy even more options for our listeners.” Visitors to
Dirt Cast have increased over 300% since the re-launch and transition to On
Demand content in October of 2008. “Our goals for 2009 have already been
shattered,” added Seay. “The opportunity to offer live broadcasts has opened new
doors for Dirt Cast, and we plan to maximize the potential of this market.”
All of the links from Dirt Nation (www.dirtnation.net)
have been forwarded to Dirt Cast. All branding, advertising, and social
marketing are in transition and full brand revitalization will be complete by
March 1, 2009. Potential advertisers are encouraged to contact

Three Specials Highlight 40th Season at Virginia Motor Speedway
Jamaica, VA – Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will open its gates in just
a little over two months with the schedule boasting three huge specials to
commemorate the speedway’s 40th season of racing. The three shows will include
the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on Saturday April 18th; the World of
Outlaws Sprint Car Series on Saturday May 23rd and the Mid-Atlantic Championship
Series (MACS) Saturday August 8th for the 30th running of Ernie Shelton’s USA
100.
“There is no better way to kick off our 40th season of racing than with the
World of Outlaws and we feel that these events will showcase our facility in a
positive light and provide fans up and down the east coast with three must see
events,” commented track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.
The Rumble on the River 5 will feature the World of Outlaws Late Model Series in
a $10,000 to win 50 lap feature on opening night of the speedway’s 40th
anniversary season Saturday, April 18th. Last year regional hot-shoe Jeremy
Miller of Gettysburg, PA thrilled the crowd with an upset win, his first career
World of Outlaws victory. Once again fans will get to see the country’s top late
model stars competing against the Mid-Atlantic regions top drivers. It will be
the fifth visit by the country’s top late model series to the speedway.
Returning for a second time and with great anticipation will be the World of
Outlaws Sprint Car Series on Saturday May 23rd. Last year the countries top
drives visited the state of Virginia for the very first time with Jason Meyers
getting the hard fought win. This year’s visit by the country’s top drivers will
once again be a must see event and the only visit by the Outlaws to the State of
Virginia.
Ernie Shelton’s USA 100 will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary on August 8th
with the 2009 edition once again going topless. This event will once again be
presented in the fan popular twin-25 lap qualifying format with $1,000 going to
the winner of each of those events with the final 50 lapper paying $10,000
to-win. In 2008 the event went “topless” for the first time and was an
overwhelming success with Chris “Smokey” Madden, Grey Court, SC, smoking the
field of 46 cars from nine states. The purse is $60,000 for this one-day show,
ranking it near the top prize offerings for a one-day show in the country.
