JASON HAMILTON READY FOR NASCAR MODIFIED RACING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY THANKS TO
SPONSORS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 12, 2009 . . . For a while it looked like Jason
Hamilton, one of the most talented of the young racers at the NASCAR sanctioned
Grandview Speedway, was not going to be able to race this season.
Hamilton had lost his car owner and was left to put together his own team if he wanted to be racing in 2009. Fortunately the 33-year-old Erwinna, PA racer was able to obtain sponsorship. With his own personal funds and sponsor dollars Hamilton was able to put together a team that will run the full schedule of Saturday night NASCAR Modified races at Grandview and also run a few select events at other tracks.
“I don’t know that this would have been possible without Bert Jones and
his Beer City business in Quakertown, PA.,” said Hamilton. “He really stepped up
big this year. He has been a sponsor in the past but this year he has taken a
much bigger position with the team.”
In addition to Beer City, Brian Horrocks will have his Horrocks Fire & Rescue of
Collegeville involved as a sponsor along with Adams Glass and Aluminum, Capri
Pizza in Pipersville, Eastern Oaks Tree Service and AP Creations.
“Grandview Speedway is the most competitive track around so you want to be able to show up with a strong effort,” said the self employed landscaper (Town and Country Caretakers, Inc.). “The purse is good and that really helps keep you running. The sponsorship support is important but you have to be able to run consistently and take home some prize money to make it all work.
“The competition this season is going to be even tougher. There are some high dollar teams that will be really hooked up. It will be tough competition but I am looking forward to it.”
Hamilton is coming off what he considered a “fair season” with one win at Grandview Speedway and one at nearby Big Diamond Raceway. He did feel that they should have been in victory lane more often.
The popular racer feels confident that he can be a winner at Grandview this season. He will be going up against some tough competition in seven time track champion Jeff Strunk, six time track champion Craig VonDohren, past champion Terry Meitzler, young sensation Billy Pauch, Jr., veteran Meme DeSantis, Ryan Godown, Jon Kellner Sr., Mike Gular and a host of others.
Grandview Speedway kicks off their season with a free-to-the-public practice session on Saturday, March 28th featuring all divisions of competition. The action will start at noon.
The 47th consecutive season of stock car racing at the Berks County clay oval will get the green flag on Saturday, April 4th at 7 p.m. The NASCAR Modifieds will top off the program with a 40-lap feature paying $3,000 to win while the Late Models will be featured in a 20-lap main event.
Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, in
Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For race information telephone
610.754.7688 or check in at

HIEBER READY FOR A BIG SEASON AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 7, 2009 . . . Veteran racer Danny Hieber may be biting
off more than he can handle with the season he has planned for 2009. The
Newtown, PA racer will be a regular in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series
Modifieds at Grandview Speedway on Saturday nights driving a modified stock car
owned by NHRA Pro Stock drag racer Kenny Koretsky.
After being away from the sport for five years Hieber and Koretsky teamed up to field a car in competition at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway last season and they were pleased with the results.
“Overall I would give us a C for performance but a B-plus for effort,” said the 42 year old who manages Bucks County International Trucking in Langhorne. “The 2008 season was a fact finding mission and I think we are ready to be a factor in the racing at Grandview Speedway.”
Hieber also plans to race every Friday night at Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA.
“This is going to be a full blown effort,” said the popular racer with a laugh. “At least as long as I don’t have a heart attack trying to make all this happen.”
One of the big challenges for Hieber and Kortetsky is finding “volunteers” to be part of their pit crews. It will take two different crews for the two nights of racing each weekend.
One guy that Danny is able to count on is his son Andrew who is the “official car washer.” He does not get to go to many of the racing events because of his heavy schedule as a star ice hockey player on the travel circuit that goes up and down the East coast. However Andrew will be able to squeeze in some race car washing and that is important.
He will be kicking off the season with some early season events at Selinsgrove, PA Speedway and Hagerstown, MD Speedway. After that all the efforts will be directed at winning races and earning points toward the championships at Grandview Speedway and Big Diamond Raceway.
Sponsorship for the season long effort will come from Nitro Fish Ultimate Gear, KPK Land Development, Superior Materials, Plaza Car Wash, Bucks County Kawasaki, Bucks County International and Scrappy’s Auto Repair.
Team owner Koretsky, though busy with his own drag racing efforts, made it to a few events last year and liked the way Danny handled himself. He is looking to make more events this season.
This weekend (March 13-15) Koretsky has his NHRA Pro Stock cars and motorcycles in competition in Gainesville, Florida. Koretsky, who was seriously injured in a racing accident a couple seasons back, will not be driving but will be there to make sure his teams have what they need.
Hieber thinks Grandview Speedway, kicking off their season with a free-to-the-public practice session on Saturday, March 28th, will have a strong season.
“I really think local short track racing will continue to rebound in popularity,” said Hieber. “I think people are tired of the Sprint Cup racing with late starts and not much action. Fans are turning back to the excitement of local short track racing, cheap tickets, and that is going to be good for Grandview and other short tracks. It is going to be a great season.”
Grandview Speedway will present NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models each Saturday night along with a variety of special attractions throughout the 2009 season. A full schedule can be found at www.grandviewspeedway.com including eight Sunday events of NEETS Enduro competition and six Thunder on the Hill specials.
The first official event of the season happens on Saturday, April 4, 7
p.m. featuring the NASCAR Modifieds in a 40-lap championship event along with a
full show of late model stock car racing. The doubleheader show will kick off
the 47th consecutive season at the track.
The one-third-mile, banked clay speedway is located on Passmore Road, just a
short distance from Route 100, in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of
Pottstown. For information telephone 610.754.7688.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- - -THANK YOU
January 10, 2009
THUNDER ON THE HILL PRESENTS 20TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY IN
2009
A very ambitious season is planned for the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series
when it returns to the Grandview Speedway for their 20th Anniversary season in
2009. The nineteen year history of Thunder on the Hill has paid out more than
$2.8 million dollars to the competitors over a total of eighty-five events since
1990. The Thunder Series howcases premier special events that include the 410
Sprints, Modifieds, USAC Wingless Sprints, Late Models, URC Sprints, ARDC
Midgets and just about every division that competes on dirt. Along with top
shelf divisions, the Thunder Series has lured some of the "all time greatest
drivers" to the popular one-third mile high banked Grandview Speedway in
Bechtelsville, PA Drivers like Steve Kinser, Danny Lasoski, Levi Jones, JJ Yaley,
Alan Johnson, Jack Hewitt, Bob and Timmy McCreadie, Billy Pauch, Brett Hearn,
Kenny Brightbill, Keith Kauffman, Fred Rahmer, Lealand McSpadden, Lance
Dewease, Duane Howard, Billy Decker, Greg Hodnett, Jimmy Horton, Jeff Strunk,
Kramer Williamson and Sammy Swindell are on an endless list of "dirt track
racing's very best" who have enjoyed some level of success at Thunder on the
Hill.
The Thunder Series continues to build on its reputation of attractive purses for
the competitors and extremely fan friendly racing programs that start on time
and always run off with great efficiency for the spectators. The tradition will
go on in 2009 as the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will once
again offer a quality selection of top notch racing events for fans and
competitors alike. Six race dates will populate the already exciting Grandview
Speedway schedule.
Our 20th season will include such favorite events like the 3rd Annual Keystone
Cup Speed Week Series for the 410 Sprints joined by the 358 Modifieds on
Wednesday night, May 20. The third annual return of the USAC National Wingless
Sprints will feature a complete show of qualifying leading up to a first
time ever Twin 20's format. Thealways exciting ARDC Wingless Midgets will be
part of the blockbuster double-header on Tuesday night, June 2. On Tuesday
night, June 30 the Thunder Series will present the 19th Annual
Pennsylvania Sprint Speed Week Series for 410 Sprints along with the 358
Modifieds.
The second leg of the six race series will take place on Wednesday night, July
15 with the official 20th Anniversary celebration and a triple thunder thriller.
The Triple Crown event will feature the 358 Modifieds, URC Sprints and the ARDC
Wingless Midgets in an explosive night of entertainment on the hill. The energy
builds for the fifth race of the Thunder Series on Thursday night, August 13
with the always exciting TRAFFIC JAM. But this year, there is a different twist
to the event as the World of Outlaws Late Models and the Big Block Modifieds
team-up for a paint swapping, wheel banging showdown that is sure to leave the
outside wall in need of a fresh coat of whitewash. The season will end in
typical Thunder style with the most requested Thunder format of all, the
Grandview Thunder 5-25's and the Annual House of Thunder Halloween Party on
Saturday night, October 17. Of course, it wouldn't be a Thunder Show without
some change to mix-up this event. The features only format for the series finale
will include the URC Sprints, 358 Modifieds, ARDC Wingless Midgets, Rolling
Thunder Legends and a first time showing by the Sportsman Modifieds. Of course
the Garden State Vintage Stock Cars will again be part of the show with an added
attraction, the Monster Smash Demo Derby, and by the way, the track lights will
be off when the green flag falls to start the Monster Smash.
Without a doubt, 2009 could very well be one of the most interesting Thunder
Series ever. The all time Thunder on the Hill feature winner is Billy Pauch with
eleven victories under his belt. Interesting fact is, all eleven wins were in a
sprint car. Pauch has yet to win a Thunder on the Hill modified feature. Lance
Dewease is second on the Thunder win list with ten victories, but his last win
on the hill was in 2003, that's over a five year win drought. Fast Freddie
Rahmer has nine victories and was the Thunder Series sprint champion four of the
last five years. In the modified ranks, Jeff Strunk is on top of the list
with six wins closely followed by Brett Hearn and Doug Manmiller who each have
four wins. Manmiller was the Thunder Series modified champion the last two
years.
In total, seventy-four sprint car features were presented and delivered
thirty-three different winners. Interesting fact is that there were twenty-four
drivers of the thirty-three who own just one Thunder win. For the Modifieds, a
total of thirty-five feature events were presented, delivering eighteen
different feature winners.
The one lap track record at Grandview Speedway for a sprint car is 11.433,
established on May 21, 2008 by Jeff Shepard driving the ZEMCO sprint car. For
the modifieds, Billy Decker holds the one lap fast time of 14.349 set on July
16, 2008.

NO RULE CHANGES FOR RACERS AT GRANDVIEW IN 2009 SEASON PASSES ARE A GREAT BY FOR
RACE FANS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA December 23, 2008 . . . There will be no rules changes at
NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway for the 2009 season.
“We had talked about a possible change or two but after much discussion and consideration of the current economy we have decided to stick with what we have,” said race director Mike Kelly. “That does not mean we will forget about what was under consideration and we will be keeping a very close eye on some areas that seem to have been getting a lot of attention.
“ Racers can now move forward with their plans for tthe new season and not have concerns about any rule changes but we will be keeping a close eye on some areas of interest.”
With Jeff Strunk going after an eighth Modified title, Craig VonDohren trying for a seventh title, Doug Hoffman planning to run a full season along with such standouts as Doug Manmiller, Mike Gular, Terry Meitzler, Ryan Godown and others it is looking like 2009 will be an outstanding season.
And the Late Models provided some great action in 2008 and it looks like it will be more of the same as Brian Shuey has already announced that he will be back looking for another title as
he battles such standouts as defending
champion Chuck Schutz, Randy Stoudt, Mike Kellner, Kyle Merkel and others.
With all the great action being planned a season pass for all the Saturday
NASCAR stock car racing events at Grandview Speedway just might be what you are
looking for. The Saturday night programs will also include some special added
attractions including the United Racing Company sprint cars for two events and
the American Racing Drivers Club wingless midgets for two events with some other
added attractions possible.
2008 season pass holders were able to save some “big bucks” as there were just a couple of rainouts so they got to use their pass for about 24 Saturday night events and that included the big specials such as the Forrest Rogers Memorial and the BPG Racing Freedom 76.
“There will be no increase in the cost of the
season pass for 2009. It will remain a $275 bargain,” said promoter Bruce
Rogers. “They get to see all the Saturday night events, don’t have to wait in
line to buy a ticket and they can also choose to have a reserved seat that will
be their seat every Saturday night. It is a great deal for an ardent fan of
stock car racing at Grandview.”
Season tickets are now available for just $275. For complete information
telephone 610.754.7688.
Management of Grandview Speedway has also announced that the annual awards banquet will return to the Gilbertsville, PA Fire Hall. The 2009 banquet will take place on December 5th.
“Being able to return to Gilbertsville will allow more racers and fans to attend,” said Rogers. “Kutztown, PA Fire Hall was a great banquet site for the last few years but there is just a need for more space. We can have that space by going back to Gilbertsville.”
The 2009 stock car racing season will get the green flag on Saturday, March 28th with the traditional “free-to-the-public” practice session which is open to all divisions of competition. It will start at noon.
Officially the season opens on Saturday,
April 4th, 7 p.m. with NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Models.
The full schedule for the new season will be released in the near future.
“There is a great deal of interest in the new season. Half of the dates for Saturday night stock car racing already have sponsors,” said track marketing director Ernie Saxton. “We are excited about 2009. We offer some great family entertainment with very reasonable ticket prices, free parking, every seat offers a grand view, bring your own refreshments and fans can visit with the competitors after the races are over. It makes for a great family night out.”
For information on sponsorships, track magazine advertising, billboards and other marketing opportunities contact Ernie Saxton at 215.752.7797 or Esaxton144@aol.com. There are early season discounts being offered until January 20th.
