PAUCH SR. AND LATHROUM GRAB GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY FEATURES AS LAUBACH IS CROWNED
GARDEN STATE CHAMP FOR 2008
GEORGETOWN, DE (November 22, 2008) – Billy Pauch Sr. drove the famed #126 Big
Block Modified of Glenn Hyneman to victory in the 30-lap Garden State Dual Track
Series finale at Georgetown Speedway. Rick Laubach from Hellertown, PA claimed
the Garden State Dual Track Series championship. Jamie Lathroum took the
checkered flag in the 30-lap Super Late Model Feature. John Stangle claimed the
Crate Modified feature while Jack Mullins Jr. was the victor in the Crate Late
Model feature. The Little Lincoln main event was won by Mel Joseph Jr.
Jimmy Chester took the early lead of the 30-lap feature for the Big Block
Modifieds with Richie Pratt Jr., Billy Pauch Jr., Ryan Godown, and Billy Pauch
Sr. in early pursuit. Bryant Brown’s ride came to stop on the backstretch on lap
3 bringing out the first caution. Chester kept the lead on the restart with Chad
James able to get by Godown and Pauch Sr. for fourth place. Pratt Jr. was
able to get by Chester for the lead on lap 9. One lap later, Jim Britt stopped
near the flag stand drawing a yellow flag. When action resumed, Pauch Jr.,
Godown , Pauch Sr., and James were able to slip by Chester. James developed a
flat tire and stopped on the backstretch on lap 13. On the restart, Pauch Sr.
took third spot from Godown on lap 14. On the next lap, Pauch Sr. shot
pass his son and Pratt Jr. to take the lead. Pauch Jr. followed his father into
second place. Pratt Jr. reassumed the runner-up spot six laps later. Pauch Sr.
was able to hold off Pratt Jr. the rest of the way to collect the $3000 first
place prize. Pratt Jr. came home in second place. Godown, Pauch Jr. and Danny
Johnson completed the top five. Rick Laubach finished in sixth place and
captured the Garden State Dual Track Series championship for 2008. Laubach won
five of the eight races in the series. Pratt Jr., James, and Keith Hoffman won
the heat races and Bill Klingmeyer was the victor in the consolation
event.
The initial start of the 30-lap Super Late Model feature was aborted as Ricky
Elliot developed a flat tire after brushing the wall along the frontstretch.
When flagger Gary Buzby waved the green flag again, Scott Haus took the early
lead. The caution flag was out on lap 2 when Steve Axtell Jr. spun in turn four.
When racing resumed, Mark Pettyjohn grabbed the lead from Haus and John Callaway
motored into second place. A multi-car tangle on lap 3 slowed down the action
and Pettyjohn held off Callaway for the lead with Jamie Lathroum taking third
spot from Haus on the restart. On lap 6, Callaway took the lead from Pettyjohn
and Lathroum moved into second place. As the leader, Callaway began to encounter
lapped traffic starting on lap 10 until the caution waved on lap 14 for Ross
Robinson. Callaway chose the outside lane on the restart and kept his lead
briefly until Lathroum took the lead on lap 16. Also on lap 16, the yellow
lights flickered again for Axtell Jr. Lathroum continued to lead the race as
Pettyjohn moved back into second place on lap 18. Elliott continued his march to
the front and took second place from Pettyjohn on lap 21. With Elliott directly
behind him, Lathroum masterfully handled lapped traffic in the final three laps
to gain his first Georgetown Speedway victory. Coming back from two visits to
pit road, Elliott finished strongly in second place. Pettyjohn, Callaway and
fourteenth place starter Dan Stone filled out the top five. Super Late Model
heat races were won by Haus, Axtell Jr. and Elliott.
In the 20-lap Crate Modified race, John Stangle led wire-to-wire to take home
the $1000 check. Stangle started on the pole and fought off Jesse Hill in the
final laps for the victory. Hill, Adam Jarrell, Neal Williams, and Mike White
rounded out the top five finishers. Hill, White, Stangle, and Neal Williams won
the Crate Modified qualifying events. Sean Gunther won the consolation
race.
Polesitter Jack Mullins Jr. led all 20 laps to win the Crate Late Model feature.
Eleventh place starter Mike Williams came home in second place. Sparky White
finished in third place after starting in eighteenth place. Herb Tunis and Chris
Hitchens completed the top five.
Mel Joseph Jr. won the Little Lincoln Feature. Joseph and Jamie Wagner swapped
the lead seven times during the 15-lap main event. Wagner held on for second
place.

GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY TO HOST THE ADVANCE AUTO PARTS SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES ON JULY
17
by Michael Wisniewski
GEORGETOWN, DE (June 13, 2008) - Since late August 2007, the Georgetown Speedway
has sat idle, with its future in racing questionable at best. Jay James, owner
of the Bridgeport Speedway and resident of nearby Laurel, DE, has taken over the
fast 1/2 mile speedway. And now with the James family at the helm, the
Georgetown Speedway will roar to life on Thursday, July 17 in a big way---by
hosting a 75 lap Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar series race. This will be the
second leg of the ‘Super Southern Swing’ as the first leg will take place at the
Grandview Speedway on Wednesday, July 16.
Alan and Danny Johnson, Billy Decker, Dale Planck, Brett Hearn, Steve Paine, Pat
O’Brien, Jimmy Phelps, Ryan Phelps, Matt Sheppard, Gary Tomkins, and young
hotshoe Larry Wight are all expected to travel south to Georgetown, DE for the
first ever Super DIRTcar series race at the speedway.
Big Block Modified Drivers from Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania are
beginning to make plans for this must see event and hope to take home the
checkered flag from their northern competitors.
Also, a second racing division will be added for this event and will be
announced shortly. On July 17, Pit Gates at Georgetown Speedway will open at
4:00 PM, Grandstand Gates open at 5:00 PM, and the racing will being at 7:30 PM
with time trials taking place at 7:00 PM.
Georgetown Speedway is a 1/2 mile dirt oval located on the northbound side of
U.S. Route 113, just 35 miles south of Dover, Delaware, a 45-minute drive from
Ocean City, and easily accessible from Washington DC, Baltimore, and
Philadelphia.

IT WAS TO BE SPONSORED BY SCOTT'S CHEM DRY SEAFORD, DE
but the bill was not paid causing someone to get credit for something
that was not done not to mention, left with a bill that I can't pay at this time.
Very upsetting to back out of your word on something as this where you should
be proud to sponsor on an award especially getting the free press.

THE GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY AND PENINSULA OIL AND PROPANE BEAT THE WEATHER AND HAD A GREAT NIGHT OF ACTION!
By Wade Perdue Georgetown, DE... The weather didn't look good as threatening
sky's where all around the Georgetown Speedway. In fact just before intermission
the clouds opened up and a brief shower rolled through. All it did was cool off
the hot of the summer, and make the clay on the big ½ mile even faster, giving
the fans one heck of a show.
The first feature of the night was the Georgetown Vintage club for their ten lap
feature. Rick Loveland lead the field to the green, but it wasn't long before
Mark Williams would take the lead on lap one. Then the 11 of Mel Joseph Jr,
Morris Tucker and last weeks feature winner CJ Schirmer marched their way to the
front to make it a four car battle. CJ Schirmer would quickly take the lead and
left the rest of the field to battle for second. Schirmer in the number 23 would
take the win again followed by Morris Tucker in second. Mel Joseph in the
Bert Ritter 11 finishes in third. Mark Williams and Ronald Ford rounded out the
top five.

The Super Late Models hit the speedway for their 20 lap feature on Peninsula Oil
and Propane night. All the drivers had some extra incentive this week as a $200
bounty was put on new points leader Ricky Elliott. Pole sitter Rob Schirmer took
the lead from the start followed closely by Mark Pettyjohn. The caution would
come out as the PJ1 of Pettyjohn spins all by himself in turns one and two. That
put Schirmer still in the lead but the 45 of Ricky Elliott worked his way up to
second. It wasn't long before Elliott would take the lead on the restart and
never look back collecting the bonus for himself and $1800 in winnings. From
what I have heard the bounty will grow for the Super Lates in two weeks! New
comer to the Georgetown Speedway David Williams finished in the second spot
Kenny Pettyjohn finishes in third. Donald Lingo Jr. ,and Rob Schirmer rounded
out the top five.

The Crate Modifieds made their way out on the big ½ mile for fifteen laps of
action. Mike White lead the 17 car field to the green and jumped out in front
for a while. John Curtis was making a charge on White till he drove to low down
in turn one and clipped the huge tractor tires on the bottom of the track,
ripping the left front completely off the car ending his night on the hook. The
restart showed Mike White still as the leader but coming all the way from 10th
starting spot was the 30 of Jordon Watson. Watson would shot by White coming off
of turn two, and pull away by almost a full straightaway winning on Peninsula
Oil and Propane night. Mike White would finish second Andy Hammond and Justin
Griffith came off of turn 4 in a dead heat and at the stripe the front bumpers
were even and they tie for third. Tim Trimble rounded out the top five.

It was a Memorial night for The Georgetown Speedway and the American Cancer
Society!
8/3/07
By Wade Perdue Georgetown, DE.... The Ritter family could not have of thought of
a better way to honor him than to race, and race they did. It was a very hot
evening in Georgetown with temperatures in the 90's,but it didn't stop the fans,
as the stands were full and so were the pits. It was almost like he was there.
Just when the cars entered the speedway the wind picked up a little, cooling it
off about ten degrees. We think it was him, making just a little cooler so we
could enjoy a full night of action on the big half mile. The Georgetown Speedway
and The American Cancer Society presented The First Annual "Race For A Cure" in
honor of one of our own-- Bert Ritter.
The first of five features rolled out onto the speedway. The newly formed
Georgetown Vintage club lined up for 10 laps of action. Leading the field around
in the number 11 was Mel Joseph Jr. The number 11 has been owned by the Ritter
family since the 50's and is all original with exception of the motor. The green
flag flew with Joseph taking the early lead followed closely behind by Mark
Williams, CJ Schirmer, and Morris Tucker. All four cars were fighting for the
lead when the caution flew. The front pack was feeling very racy and did not
adhere to the caution and tangled causing damage to the 11 of Joseph ending his
night. Then it was Schirmer as he took the lead and never looked back, taking
the checkered flag. A close battle for second as Williams and Tucker drove side
by side coming off of four, as they crossed the line it was Mark Williams for
second and Morris Tucker finished third. Rick Loveland and Herbie Hobbs rounded
out the top five.

The second Feature on tap for the evening was the Super Late Models for their 20
lap feature. Dale Lingo in the 99L lead the 15 car field to the green followed
by Donald Lingo in the 22A. Close action involving Both the Lingo's the
Pettyjohn, Kenny and Mark, and the 45 of Ricky Elliott. Caution came out quickly
as the front runners were racing very close and it appeared that the 91 of Kenny
Pettyjohn got into the back of the PJ1 of Mark Pettyjohn, causing him to spin.
The green flag was dropped once again with Donald Lingo leading, but a hard
charging Ricky Elliott was knocking on the door and took the lead from Lingo
winning the race. Kenny Pettyjohn finished second followed by Donald Lingo,
Jamie Lathroum and Mark Pettyjohn battled back to finish 5th.

The Big Block Modifieds came out for their 20 lap feature on Bert Ritter
Memorial night with the 5 of Don Hallowell starting on the pole. The race was
pretty clean between the front runners Hallowell, and the 26 of Ryan Godown.
Godown took the lead just after half way when a vicious crash involving one of
the tires in turn one and Jimmy Horton IV. The 43 of Horton clipped one of the
big tractor tires on the inside of the speedway. These tires are to keep the
drivers from going to low in the corner and chopping the corner off. Horton's
car jumped high into the air as the right front tire went underneath, the 43
launching him several feet landing directly down on the nose of the car once
again and turning over landing on his wheels. Horton was a little shaken as you
may expect but otherwise ok. With only a few laps remaining Ryan Godown had a
commanding lead as the 85 of Wade Hendrickson tried to reel him in. Hendrickson
runs out of time and Ryan Godown wins his second of the year at Georgetown and
his second in a row. Wade Hendrickson finished second with Jamie Mills third.
Duane Rust and Jason Daliessio make up the top five.

The Crate Late Models came out onto the big half mile for their 15 lap main
event. The V75 of Eric McKinney showed the way and had no problems holding off
the 24 car field to win the Crate Late Model Feature. The cautions were plenty
however, just past half way the caution flew for a spin in turn four. Nick Davis
got sideways and was sitting in the middle of the turn when hard contact between
Davis and the 12K of Kevin Scott Jr. Scott appeared to have no where to go
hitting the 92 hard ending both drivers night. During the same caution the 63 of
John Imler went off the top of the backstretch and flips after hitting the dirt
embankment doing extensive damage to his car. All drivers in both wrecks were
ok. The rest of the race was dominated by Eric McKinney as he wins, followed by
the 14W of Ryan Walls in second. Tyler Reed, Ross Robinson and John Calloway
round out the top five.

The Crate Modifieds came out for the last feature of the evening. Grant Ireland
lead the 19 car field to the green and it wasn't long before the 9 of Jeff Brown
would take control as he passed both Ireland and Joseph Watson coming off of
turn two on lap one and pulled away by 5 car lengths going down the back
straightaway. It looked like Brown was going to be unbeatable pulling a full
straightaway from second place. Just past half way Browns car started to fade
all of a sudden as he started slipping back through the field giving the lead to
Joseph Watson. Watson lead the rest of the laps taking the win. After the
checkered flew the 16 of Ted Reynolds blew of the top hose on the radiator on
his machine. Reynolds suffered minor steam burns and was transported to the
hospital for a checkup. The 31 of Casey Lynch finished second Jordon Watson
finished third from his 10th starting position. Justin Griffith and John Lynch
rounded out the top five.

Georgetown Speedway
142 Broadkill Road
Milton, DE 19968
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
GEORGETOWN, DE-Like race car rusting in someone’s yard for 10-years Georgetown
Speedway in Georgetown, DE is in need of repairs. Since reopening last
season some needed repairs have been completed, others haven’t. Most
importantly the track’s electrical system is showing signs of age and lack
of upkeep. Over the past month wiring problems have caused short
blackouts.
“It has been frustrating over the past month or so to have the lights go
out during the race evening,” admitted track spokesperson David Brown.
“Fans, racers and crew members have been very understanding, but we owe it
to them to provide the best night of racing possible and feel these
repairs must be completed to our satisfaction before we race again,” Brown
added.
Speedway staff worked all week trying to correct these wiring problems.
Unfortunately the electrical problems have not been repaired forcing the
speedway’s Board of Investors to cancel racing for the next two Friday
nights July 20th and 27th. “We apologize to our fans and race teams for
having to cancel those shows,” Brown stated adding, “The track sat idle
for nearly 10- ears before we started racing again in 2006. The track saw
very little maintenance during that 10-year period and things like the
lights and wiring are now showing signs of failure following that long
period of sitting idle.”
When racing resumes August 3rd a grand event will be added to the
schedule. In memory of longtime speedway supporter Bert Ritter, who
recently lost a battle with cancer, a memorial event benefiting the
American Cancer Society Walk for a Cure will be held that night. Feature
racing that evening will include Big Block Modifieds, Super Late Models,
Crate Modified and Crate Late Models. The popular Georgetown Vintage
Racing Club will also join the August 3rd show and kids will have a chance
to win prizes including a chance to win a ride in the Georgetown Speedway
pace car leading feature fields to the green flag. Additional news
about this huge night of racing will be announced as soon as it’s
finalized.
The speedway’s full schedule is online at
www.georgetownspeedway.com.
Racing will continue on Friday nights through September. Additional special
events will be announced soon. Georgetown Speedway is located near all
Maryland and Delaware beaches so fans can enjoy great Friday night racing then
spend the rest of the weekend at the beautiful Delmarva shore. For more
information call the speedway office at 302.684.3197.
