Harrington, DE.....October  25, 2008 - When the 2008 season started, Brandon Dennis of Harrington, DE was going to concentrate on just finishing each race.  The # 10 sponsored Gary Simpson contracting; ECD Custom Homes Pro Race Car Mod Lite certainly had a different out come in the end.  Dennis would claim his first ever Mod Lite Delaware International Speedway Championship title.  Not only the championship, but a steady finish almost ever weekend to produce 4 wins, 10 - top 5’s with most of them 2nd  place, 3 top - 10’s and only 2 races out of the top 10.

Dennis said “I really wasn't planning on trying to get the championship, I never really thought about it to be honest.  I wanted to just go out there each week and just do the best I could and try to be consistent each week.”

Opening night Dennis raced to claim 2nd position, then the next week I was 6th.”  “I was happy with that?  Then, before I knew it, I was finishing 2nd all the time and no wins yet?”  “My first win, ah, was near the end of May I think?  I simply tried to be consistent this year and it paid off. “

“I can remember a couple nights I would like to forget?  On the last race I flipped when my spindle broke off on the straightway.  That was a wild ride! Camp Barnes was another disappointment?”  Overall, the constant top 5’s helps take Dennis to the 2008 DIS track Champion.  That last race did not hurt Dennis in points, as he finished 115 points over second place driver Rick Wheatley.

I was 22 years old in 2004, which was around the time I stated racing, with the help of Al White, (White runs Northeast Modified Lites of Laurel, DE) he got me started racing.  Before that I had not raced.  So it wouldn't be possible without his help and Steve (Al White’s son).  This year the last five races I ran a borrowed motor from them.  Anytime I had trouble this year I would just load her up and go to the shop and they would help me.  So I have a lot of value and respect for Al.

I don’t have a lot of crew, but Rusty Dadd has helped me a lot this year.  If I needed shocks or something else he would get it for me.  Also Gary Simpson of Gary Simpson Contracting always helps me.  Walt Breeding’s another one I would like to thank for his contributions in my racing.

Especially, a special big thank you to my Mom, and girlfriend, Tina; every week they were there always supporting me!  That means the world to me.  Without all of them I would not be able to do this.

This was a lot of fun this yeah, things went pretty smooth.  I had to race against Tim White every night and he is one of the cleanest drivers I have ever raced.  I know I could count on him to always be sportsman like.  Steve White too, along with most of the drivers.  But Tim was up there each week with me, and he was just awesome to race against.

The Harrington driver has no plans to change or move to another racing class.  I want to remain in the Mod Lite division for a long time.  I hope to just race each week; along the way earn more championships, and wins.  I do want to try to win ten races next year?  To top off this year, a win in the Delaware State Championship would just be icing in the cake.  So we'll see how we do on Sunday?  Sometimes not expecting too much can turn out to be unexpected as well.
