Virginia Sprint Series
Race #8 Saturday June 21st 2008
Racesaver Sprint Series
Old Dominion Speedway Manassas, Va.
"Hail To The Chief" Jerald Harris
In the shadows of the Nations Capitol you would have thought the crowd was just
introduced to the President of the United States because as Jerald Harris exited
his car in victory lane the entire crowd were on thier feet either clapping or
cheering. The Virginia Sprint Series has been until now an all dirt series but
as it branched out to run some pavement races at Old Dominon Speedway this year
bringing open wheel excitement to a stock car track just a few minutes from
Washington DC what a show it was. Thirteen of the dirt racers made the switch to
pavement with Scott Vasbinder winning heat one and Satch Worley taking heat two.
The green waved over the feature field and Scott Vasbinder shot to the lead with
Satch Worley on his tail and Jerald Harris up high in third, Vasbinder was
rolling along out front keeping Worley and Harris at bay until lap five when
Harris found his groove and powered to the front spot. Worley used the same
groove to get into second and the two front runners were now really going after
it as lap after lap they only got faster smashing the track record every time by
the stripe. With two laps to go Worley got loose and that was all Harris needed
to give him alittle space and fly to the checkered flag a few car lenths ahead
of Worley to close out the frantic first feature for the Virginia racers on
pavement. To recap the finish it was Jerald Harris, Satch Worley, Billy Norfleet,
Scott Vasbinder, Mike Marr, Bill Rice, French Grimes, Carl Simmonds, Anthony
Linkenhoker, Paul White, Dany Miller, Tony Harris and Ron Moyers.
The series takes a week off before heading to Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Va. for Racing Over Dose Weekend with a two show on Friday and Saturday night July 4th and 5th.

Billy Norfleet County Line High Flyer
Billy Norfleet took most of the race to get going but with a few laps to go
found his groove flying to his first win of the year. To kick off the night
Satch Worley took the win in the eight lap County Line Qualifier event before it
was off to the feature. Scott Vasbinder was on poll and used his good start by
showing the field his tail until lap eight when a caution came out to pick
debris on track bunching up the pack. Pete Kingrea was on Vasbinder from the
start but two laps after the restart Kingrea went low and took off. Kingrea was
clicking off laps up front but Norfleet was on the way and with five to go
Norfleet showed Kingrea the groove that was working and swept by for the lead
and went on to fly under the checkered flag. At the line it was Billy Norfleet,
Satch Worley, Pete Kingrea, Bill Rice, Ivan Shaver, Anthony Linkenhoker, Scott
Vasbinder, French Grimes, Ron Moyers, Danny Miller and Paul White.

Race #4 Saturday May 24th 2008

Winchester Speedway Winchester, Virginia
French Grimes Proves Second Time is a Charm
French Grimes finished second by eight inches at the last Virginia Sprint Series
race but this week it wasn't even close as after starting last in the field he
took the lead from Satch Worley at half way and cruised to victory. Fifteen cars
took to the track for the feature only event on a bit of a tricky track with
Danny Miller and Paul White pacing to the flag and Miller was out first and was
leading his first feature for a few laps but then Worley got under him and tried
to run away. Worley was a couple cars lenths ahead of the field but by now it
was plain to see Grimes was on a roll and it would not be long before he was
going to catch Worley. The halfway flags were shown the field but it would be to
a new leader as Grimes was really hooked up and sped away from the field to take
his first of the year. To recap the field: French Grimes, Satch Worley, Billy
Norfleet, Jerald Harris, Bill Rice, Pete Kingrea, Scott Vasbinder, Mike Marr,
Anthony Linkenhoker, Donnie Rodeffer, Chris Ware, Danny Miller, Paul White, Tony
Harris and Ron Moyer.
Next week the Virginia Sprint Series turns into pavement
pounders as it takes to the asphalt oval in Manassas, Va. at Old Dominion
Speedway on Saturday night May 31st.

Race #3 Saturday May 10th 2008
Racesaver Sprint Series
County Line Raceway Elm City, NC.
Close Call for Keck at County Line
Eric Keck thought he was in the front to stay for a cruise to the win at the three quarter mark of the feature at the newly resurfaced and really fast Count Line Raceway Saturday only to see French Grimes come up from last place starting spot and challenge for the win to just fall short by a eight inches as the checkered flag waved. Fourteen cars made the trip down south and heats were up first with last weeks feature winner Bill Rice taking heat one and Mike Marr taking heat two. Danny Miller and Paul White pacing the field to the start but White only led until the back straight when Satch Worley and Mike Marr got by and were leading a ten car freight train around the track at a record pace. Worley was still in front running a mid-track line with Marr alittle lower but right on him as you could see field of cars running three different lines around the speedway. Keck and Grimes were moving up fast as the twenty five laps clicked by quick at the smooth short track with Keck sweeping under Marr then a lap later Worley and he was out front and going away but he didn't count on Grimes who was showing great speed. Grimes was into second spot three laps later but with only five to go Keck must have thought he was home free but Grimes was closing fast and the crowd came to it's feet with two to go as they cheered on the racers to what would be a photo finish with Grimes shooting low getting inside Keck in the run to the checkers but Keck held on by inches to take the win. To recap the finish it was Eric Keck, French Grimes, Jerald Harris, Satch Worley, Billy Norfleet, Mike Marr, Pete Kingrea, Anthony Linkenhoker, Ivan Shaver, Bill Rice, Danny Miller, Paul White, Ron Moyers and Carl Simmonds.
The Virginia Sprint Series will take off a week before heading to Winchester Speedway in Winchester Virginia on Saturday night May 24th.

Bullet Bill Rice Unloads on the Field
Third time was a charm for the Virginia Sprint Series as after two rain outs the
racers were able to take to the track and what a race it was as Bullet Bill Rice
drove his WA Lynch Roofing Specialty Fasteners Sprinter to the event sweep.
Fifteen racers made the tow to Eastside with heats up first and Rice blasted to
the win in heat one with Satch Worley holding off Anthony Linkenhoker at the
line for heat two before it was off to the feature. Paul White and Scott
Vasbinder paced the feature with Vasbinder out first and Worley second with Tony
Harris, Bill Rice and Jerald Harris in a group. Lap three saw changes as
Vasbinder slowed with car trouble just as Tony Harris passed Worley to take what
was now the lead. Rice realy came on strong in the second half as he shot by
Worley then set his sights on Harris and with eight laps to go Rice went low by
Harris and headed for the checkers and would not be caught in the caution free
event.
At the flag it was Bill Rice, Tony Harris, Satch Worley, Jerald Harris, Anthony Linkenhoker, French Grimes, Billy Norfleet, Pete Kingrea, Danny Miller, Ron Moyers, Paul White, Carl Simmonds, Chris Ware, Scott Vasbinder and Mike Marr.
Next week Saturday night May 10th the Virginia Sprint Series will travel to
