Bad Luck Haunts Jared Miley; UFO Set To Take Off This Weekend!

South Park, PA (April 8, 2008) The 2007 Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway Champion Jared Miley and Jared Miley Racing, like so many other Western Pennsylvania race teams had to wait out the weather to get their local season started. Lernerville Speedway has tried twice to kick off their 40th Anniversary season but the weather has not been kind to the Sarver, PA speed plant. However, the Western PA season was able to kick off on Saturday, April 5 at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway (PPMS) with their season opener.

Jared debuted a new blue Colussy Chevrolet / Brougher’s Machine Shop / Red Miley’s Miley Truck Rental / HTMA #H1 Rocket GTO at PPMS with a heat race victory. After the invert, Miley started in the fourth row of the 25-lap main event. After working his way up to the third position Jared slowed in turns three and four with a flat tire and was forced to the pits on the ninth circuit. Jared returned to the event one lap down and finished with an 11th place finish. “It was a tough break but the car was good and we can build from this.” Miley said after the event. “I don’t know if we were as good as Lynn (Geisler, the eventual race winner) but it really didn’t matter after the flat.”

This weekend Jared will again attempt to help Lernerville Speedway open their 40th year on Friday, April 11 and then back to PPMS for another regular weekly program on Saturday, April 12. On Sunday the 13th the team will make their way to Challenger Raceway in Jacksonville, PA for the PA State Short Track Championships. The event will pay $5,000 to win and is part of the Unified Force Race Championship Tour. After a busy three race weekend the team will make their way back to Lernerville Speedway for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned, $10,000 to win ‘Showdown in Sarvertown’ on Tuesday, April 15th.

Lynn Geisler Claims 67th Career Win at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway

Cranberry Township, PA (April 8, 2008) The Geisler Racing team and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Member Lynn Geisler made his 2008 debut this past Saturday at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway (PPMS) after Lernerville Speedway had the rains fall on them on Friday forcing track officials to cancel the event.

On Saturday the sun was shining not only over PPMS but also the #1C Geisler Racing team. Lynn came into the 2008 season open minded after going winless in 2007 and that mindset seemed to work well in his heat race as he finished second behind 2007 PPMS Track Champion Jared Miley.

Geisler started the 25-lap feature on the third row and methodically maneuvered his #1 Cochran Automotive / Marshall Stamping / Groff Tractor & Equipment Inc. / Tri-State Hose & Supply / Bolea Oil / Hoosier Race Tire / Rocket Chassis GTO up to the second spot behind race leader Steve Baker. Geisler used the inside groove to work his way past the ‘West Virginia Rim Rider’ and pull away to take his first checkered flag since the 2006 season. “It was nice to get this win early in the season after being shutout last season, now we don’t have to worry about it the rest of the year. We were able to work our way through the field after starting seventh, catch Steve (Baker) and race with him side by side for a few laps and that is what really makes a race worth while.”

Lynn Geisler and the ‘Geisler Gang’ will try for a third time to open Lernerville Speedway’s 40th Anniversary season this Friday, April 11 then they will be off to PPMS on Saturday, April 12 to try for back-to-back wins at ‘Dirt’s Monster Superspeedway’. On Tuesday, April 15 the team will head back to Lernerville Speedway for the $10,000 to win ‘Showdown in Sarvertown’ World of Outlaws Late Model Series event.

Rough Start For Keith Barbara and Forbes Field Motorsports

South Park, PA (April 7, 2008) Keith Barbara and Forbes Field Motorsports made it to two different race tracks this past weekend but unfortunately Mother Nature only let them race once as the rains fell on Lernerville Speedway about an hour before the show was set to begin. On Saturday Mom Nature gave the team the weather they needed to get some heat in the tires at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway.

The night started off shaky in practice for Keith as he had to pull off ‘Dirt’s Monster Superspeedway’ with no fuel pressure in his Comcast / Triangle Benefit Services / Potoka Trucking / Forbes Field Garage / Ran Group Racing Tours sponsored #17 Rocket Chassis. The Forbes Field Motorsports team got the issue fixed in time for Barbara to finish second in his heat race.

Keith’s second place finish set him up with the fifth place starting position for the 25-lap feature. Barbara was strong throughout the event and climbed up to third behind eventual race winner Lynn Geisler and Steve Baker but on lap 21 disaster struck. Smoke billowed out from underneath Keith’s freshly decaled #17 forcing Barbara to the pits with an 18th place finish.

The Forbes Field Motorsports team will be back in action this Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13 for the Inaugural UFO PA State Short Track Championships at Challenger Raceway in Jacksonville, PA. Keith will take a day off on Monday and then make his way to Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA for the $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned ‘Showdown in Sarvertown’ on Tuesday, April 15.

“The track was in pretty good condition again last week,” Miley commented. “It was a little choppy in some places but it was still extremely racy. Hopefully we can carry some of this momentum we are building and start the season out strong here at home when the season starts,” concluded Jared.

Keith Barbara Welcomes New Marketing Partner, Announces 2008 Plans, and Debuts New Website

South Park, PA (January 29, 2008) Keith Barbara and Forbes Field Motorsports rings in the new year with plenty of exciting announcements for the 2008 season. The most exciting news for the team is the addition of Comcast as a marketing partner. Comcast is the largest cable television company, the second largest Internet service provider and the fourth largest telephone company in the United States.

‘We are extremely excited to be working with Comcast this season,’ Keith said from the annual Forbes Field Motorsports team meeting this past Saturday. ‘The guys have been working their tails off this off season to get our cars ready for the upcoming season and with the addition of Comcast, we feel like we can make a lot of noise on the track in 2008. Our motor program was much better towards the end of 2007 and we already have our motors back from Domhoff (Racing Engines),’ continued Barbara. ‘All we need to do now is hang the body on the car and get it lettered and we will be ready to go.’

Also new for Forbes Field Motorsports in 2008 is their online home. Keith hired the services of Jason Shank of JNJ Motorsports Media and Mike Mallett of MJM Web Solutions to build the team a new website. ‘We wanted a more flashy website, a website that fans and sponsors can go to and get the information they need quickly and easily,’ Keith said. ‘The new website is exactly what our team needed to become more fan friendly and it turned out way better than I thought it could. We are extremely pleased and gracious for all the work that Jason and Mike put into the site.’ The new website can be found at WWW.KEITHBARBARA.NET .

To go along with the new website, the team has announced a tentative schedule for the 2008 season. Keith will be racing his family owned Comcast / Triangle Benefits Services / Potoka Trucking / Forbes Field Garage / RAN Group Racing Tours / Moses Electric / Rocket Chassis GTO at many of the regions top facilities. Although the team has not committed to competing full time at any one track or on any one series, they will be in action with most of sanctioning bodies that come into the area. ‘We are going to do what we have been doing the past couple of seasons,’ Barbara said. ‘Chasing points is not necessarily something we want to commit to right away. Maybe once we get racing and things start to shake out, we may take a look at racing for points but for now, we are going to play it by ear.’ You can find Keith’s schedule on the ‘Tour’ page of the new www.keithbarbara.net .
