UMBENHAUER, RANDY STOUDT AND HIGGS WIN FEATURE RACES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 17, 2008 . . . For the first time in his long career
Tom Umbenhauer was able to wheel his Miller Building Systems/Clay Realty Group
No. 19 Modified to victory in the 30-lap RCN-TV Night NASCAR 358 Modified
feature race at Grandview Speedway. The 20-lap main event for Late Models went
to Randy Stoudt of Pottstown picking up his second straight and 50th career
victory at the Berks County oval. Stoudt was driving the Merkel Rebar/TP
Trailers No. 118. Ryan Higgs of Nazareth was able to get his first 600 Modified
win at Grandview in a feature shortened to nine laps due to time constraints.
The 30-lap feature for the Modifieds had a caution as the field came off the
fourth turn to take the green on the first lap when Jeremy Banos got crossed up
leaving Rick Schaffer and Tood Smith behind.
On restart Tom Umbenhauer charged to the front from his seventh starting spot
with Todd Marburger giving him pressure.
Meme DeSantis moved into second and challenged Umbenhauer for the top spot. Just
before the 10th lap a multi car accident brought out the red as the track was
blocked and on the restart Umbenhauer still was in front with DeSantis
pressuring.
The midway point had Umbenhauer in front earning the Dan’s Deli Halfway Award
and he had a comfortable lead over challenger DeSantis. In third was Doug
Manmiller who had charged up from 15th spot.
The balance of the 30-lapper had Umbenhauer keeping command while current point
leader Jeff Strunk, coming from 16th starting spot, was closing in on the
leader.
Laps ran out before Strunk was able to charge up and challenge for the win as
Umbenhauer crossed the finish line first picking up $2250 for his winning
efforts. Second spot went to Strunk (Mohnton) followed by Doug Man miller
(Shoemakersville), Meme DeSantis (Temple) and Terry Meitzler (Kutztown).
In victory lane Umbenhauer told fans he was starting to doubt himself. “Everyone
is so fast here,” said the Richland, PA resident. “I stayed on the bottom and
stayed out of the wall.”
The winner also pointed out that the new body on his race car probably brought
him luck. “I should have put it on sooner,” said the elated winner.
Craig VonDohren, a five feature winner and popular crowd favorite, has engine
problems that put him out of action before the first qualifying heat was run.
For 18 of the 20 laps in the Late Model feature race it was the Danny Snyder
show. The youngster looked like he was on his way to his first career win.
Randy Stoudt, who has been on a roll lately, charged from 17th starting spot and
picked off Snyder with just two laps to go to take his fifth win of the season.
Snyder (East Greenville) managed to hold on to finish second followed by Kyle
Merkel (Gilbertsville), who had challenged for the top spot for much of the
early race, Rick Todorow (Quakertown) and Wayne Pfeil (Mohnton).
The 600 Modified feature was won by Ryan Higgs in a close battle with Butch
Getz. The event was planned for 20-laps and cut to 15 and finally to nine laps
with time constraints set in. Third place went to Kyle Gardner followed by Cody
Coons and Jeremy Guistwite.
Qualifying heat races for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds were won by Todd Smith, Tom
Umbenhauer, Meme DeSantis and Kevin Hirthler. The consolation races went to
Shawn Reimert and Tommy Scheetz Jr. In the Late Model qualifiers wins were
earned by Danny Snyder, Mike Kellner and Ron Kline. And the top finishers in the
qualifying heats for the 600 Modifieds were Jeremy Guistwite, Bobby Scherff and
Butch Getz. The 10 lap 600 Modified consolation race went to Mike Keppler.
The Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger awards, worth $50 to each driver, went
to Jon Kellner Jr. coming from 26th to finish 10th in the Modified feature. In
the Late Model feature Randy Stoudt came from 17th to finish 1st to pick up the
Hard Charger Award.
The Salvage Transport Award, $30 cash, went to Bobby Wyatt. The award goes to
the Late Model racer who is the last racer to finish on the lead lap.

Todorow led a few laps but it was Randy Stoudt coming from far back in the
starting field who was able to win with a comfortable margin of victory. Second
spot went to Todorow followed by Chuck Schutz coming from 18th, Ron Kline and
Danny Snyder.

JEFF STRUNK AND RANDY STOUDT WIN NASCAR FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 10, 2008 . . . It looked like it was going to be Craig
VonDohren adding another NASCAR 358 Modified victory to his current win streak
until a late race restart saw VonDohren, the leader, make contact with
challenger, Doug Manmiller, on the front straightaway sending VonDohren into the
first turn wall and putting him out of the race.
When the race finished Jeff Strunk, six time champion and current NASCAR
Modified point leader, had brought the Gold Rush Custom Trailers/Touch of Green
Landscaping No. 126 home first for his fourth win of the season. The Mohnton, PA
driver picked up $2250 for his win in the 30-lap WNPV-AM Radio NASCAR Modified
feature race on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. The 20-lap feature race
for Late Models was won by Randy Stoudt. The Pottstown racer, using last year’s
chassis with new sheet metal, came from 11th starting spot to gain the win with
the Merkel Rebar/TP Trailers No. 118.
“I would rather be lucky than good,” said Strunk in victory lane after having survived all the on-track incidents. “The track surface was great as it has been all season.”
Kurt Spotts had fans rooting for him as the 17-year-old high school student survived several early race accidents including a flip on the third lap by past champion Terry Meitzler. He was uninjured in the fourth turn incident.
Spotts was in front of the 28 car starting
field right on up to the 14th circuit of the one-third-mile, banked clay oval.
Craig VonDohren, a six time champion and recent winner of the rich Forrest
Rogers Memorial, was on a win streak. He had not lost a race in August and
charged from 15th starting spot to take the lead on the 14th lap after a three
lap battle for the top spot with Spotts.
Once in front VonDohren, who now calls Boyertown home, was making it look as if
he was on his way to another victory as he pulled away to a full straight away
lead.
With 24 laps in the record book Spotts bounced off the wall in the fourth turn and came to stop in the first turn bringing out the caution and ending a great effort by the young racer.
On the restart Doug Manmiller, who had
started 13th, was now charging alongside of VonDohren making a run for the lead.
The two made contact on the front straight putting leader VonDohren in the wall
and out of the race while Manmiller was able to continue.
On the 25th lap of the 30-lap main event Jeff Strunk, charging up from 14th
starting slot, took the lead from Manmiller while Ryan Godown, coming 19th
starting position, was now in third.
Strunk was able to hold on to win despite a
hard charge from Ryan Godown (Ringoes, NJ) who continues to seek his first
Grandview feature win. Third place went to Manmiller (Shoemakersville) followed
by Rick Schaffer (Woxall) and Kevin Hirthler (Bechtelsville).
VonDohren was credited with a 24th place finish.
Rick Todorow was quick to react at the drop of the green and took command of the 21 car starting field in the late model feature. The Quakertown, PA auto body shop operator looked like he was going for a win but Danny Snyder had some different ideas and took the lead from the veteran driver. Snyder put on an exceptional performance but Todorow worked his way past the younger at the midway point.
With 12 laps in the record book Randy Stoudt,
coming from 11th spot, was challenging Todorow and one lap later was in first
place.
Stoudt was able to ride to victory for the fourth time this season and the win
allowed him to gain some ground in the point battle with current point leader
Chuck Schutz.
At the finish Todorow (Quakertown) finished second to Stoudt while Schutz (Pottstown) just nosed out Ron Kline (Salford) for third spot. Schutz came from 18th starting position. Fifth place went to Snyder.
Qualifying heat races for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds were won by Craig VonDohren, John Tschudy, Bobby Gunther Walsh and Kurt Spotts. Consolation races for the Modifieds went to Kerry Kratz and Terry Meitzler.
In the Late Model qualifiers wins were earned by Brian Shuey, Randy Stoudt and Ed Trimbur.
The Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger
awards, worth $50 to each driver, went to Ryan Godown in the Modified feature as
he gained 17 positions. In the Late Model 20-lapper it was Chuck Schutz gaining
15 positions to get the award.
The Salvage Transport Award, $30 cash, went to Steve Weikel .The award goes to
the Late Model racer who is the last racer to finish on the lead lap.
Racing this Saturday night, August 16th, will include the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and 600 Modifieds as part of RCN-TV Night. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m.

SIGNIFICANT POINT CHANGE MADE IN GRANDVIEW LATE MODEL STANDINGS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 3, 2008 . . . Randy Stoudt, in the thick of a battle
for another championship at Grandview Speedway in NASCAR Late Models, has lost
100 points and it was his choice.
In a 20-lap feature race run back in early June, Stoudt was apparently credited
with an incorrect finish. The final finish showed Stoudt in 7th spot when in
fact he had finished 17th. The finish was not officially protested, a process
that is called for and outlined clearly in the rule book.
Stoudt was not comfortable with the situation and went to track officials to
have the point standings changed.
The veteran driver did not want to be in the position of perhaps winning the
championship and the question of the points hanging over his head.
Situations such as this are covered in the track rule book (found at
www.grandviewspeedway.com) and call for protests to be lodged quickly on the
night of event that is involved.
The new standings show past champion Chuck Schutz (Pottstown) leading the
standings with 4279 points with Stoudt (Pottstown) now having 4125 points.
Defending champion Brian Shuey (Shoemakersville) is currently third with 3934
points.
Just five point events remain on the schedule for the NASCAR Late Models at
Grandview Speedway this season.
The Late Models will next see action on Saturday, August 9th as part of a
doubleheader show with the NASCAR Modifieds sponsored by WNPV-AM Radio. The
racing action will start at 7:30 p.m.

SHORT STORY: VONDOHREN WINS FORREST ROGERS MEMORIAL MOD CLASSIC, SCHUTZ TOPS IN
LATE MODELS
Bechtelsville, PA August 3, 2008 . . . For the fifth time this season Craig
VonDohren drove to victory at Grandview Speedway winning the 50-lap Forrest
Rogers Memorial NASCAR 358 Modified Classic worth $10,000. In the companion
20-lapper for Late Models current point Chuck Schutz drove to his first win of
the season.
Duane Howard, who had gone to the back of the field early in the Modified
feature race, charged back through the field to challenge VonDohren at the
finish but fell short and had to settle for second. Third spot went to Doug
Manmiller while current Modified point leader Jeff Strunk, coming from 22nd
starting spot, finished fourth followed by last year’s Rogers Memorial winner
Jason Hamilton.
In the Late Model feature Danny Snyder, never a winner at Grandview, led for
most of the laps only to have Schutz charge to the front in the closing laps and
grab his first win of the second. Randy Stoudt came on strong to finish second
followed by Snyder, Wayne Pfeil and Ed Trimbur.
WNPV-AM RADIO night on Saturday, August 9th will feature the NASCAR Modifieds
and Late Models with racing scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Former Grandview Modified
standout Harry Turner will be the honorary starter for the Modified feature.

VONDOHREN EARNS $10,000 FOR FORREST ROGERS MEMORIAL WIN AT GRANDVIEW, SCHUTZ
WINS LATE MODEL FEATURE
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 3, 2008 . . . Veteran racer Craig VonDohren is on a hot
streak. He has won the last three times out with his most recent victory coming
in the Forrest Rogers Memorial 358 Modified Classic paying $10,000 to win at
Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. Current Late Model point leader Chuck
Schutz won the 20-lap Late Model feature race for his first victory of the
season.
Troy Wink led the 31-car starting field to the green for the 38th annual Forrest
Rogers Memorial with a multi car accident bringing out the caution before the
first lap was completed putting contender Kerry Kratz out of the race. A second
caution had several cars involved with Duane Howard and Jason Hamilton heading
to the pits while Craig VonDohren was at the back of the pack.
At the two lap marker Troy Wink was in front of Chris Esposito and Brad Missimer.
Wink continued to be the pace setter with Missimer making every effort to get by
and that is the way it stayed for the first one-third of the 50-lapper.
At 18 laps Ryan Godown and Sean Merkel tangled bringing out the yellow flag and
Meme DeSantis a crowd favorite was towed to the pits with mechanical woes.
On the restart Tom Umbenhauer got into the back of leader Wink with the leader
doing an outstanding job keeping control of his car while Umbenhauer went to the
front of the field.
At the halfway mark Umbenhauer had a comfortable lead over Wink with Rick
Schaffer in third followed by Todd Marburger and Esposito.
Five laps later VonDohren was able to charge into the top five. Two laps later
Billy Pauch Jr. had his mount break sending him to the pits.
VonDohren worked his way past everyone to mount a challenge on leader Umbenhauer
and with 37 laps completed VonDohren was able to put his Mike Harvey owned Felty
Farms sponsored No. 1C in front of the field.
Once in front VonDohren, winner of three previous Forrest Rogers Memorials, was
able to distance himself from the rest of the field until the late laps. At 47
laps Umbenhauer had the power steering go on his mount putting him out.
Duane Howard now became a factor with just three laps to go running the outside
groove. The three time track champion charged to second spot and closed up on
VonDohren on the final lap but time ran out as VonDohren was able to hold on for
the win, the fifth of the season for the Oley resident.
“The top was going away and the bottom was slow,” said the veteran racer in
victory lane. “I just kept mixing it up and hoping to break the rythmn of the
others behind me.” Apparently it worked as he earned himself a big pay day.
Howard (Oley) came home second continuing his streak of not being able to win
this classic event. Third place was earned by Doug Manmiller (Shoemakersville)
followed by six time track champion and current point leader Jeff Strunk
(Mohnton) coming from 22nd starting spot. Fifth spot was earned by last year’s
winner Jason Hamilton (Erwinna).
Danny Snyder looked like he might be able to win his first 20-lap Late Model
feature at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night as he took the lead at the start
and set the pace for 18 laps. Chuck Schutz stormed from 11th spot to the front
of the field on the 18th circuit of the one-third-mile clay oval. One lap later
Randy Stoudt moved to second after having come from 17th starting position.
Stoudt made a strong charge at the finish but fell short of victory.
Chuck Schutz (Pottstown) picked up his first win of the season with the BPG
Racing/Baro Trucking No. 1 and continues to lead the NASCAR Late Model point
standings. Second spot went to Randy Stoudt (Pottstown) followed by Danny Snyder
(East Greenville) followed by Wayne Pfeil (Mohnton) and Ed Trimbur (Boyertown).
Quality heats for the Late Models were won by Snyder, Pfeil and Schutz.
In the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Modified qualifiers the wins were taken
by Danny Erb, Troy Wink, Kerry Kratz and Danny Hieber. The consolation races
went to Cliff Quinn and Jeff Strunk.
The Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger awards, worth $50 to each driver, went
to Rick Schaffer in the Forrest Rogers Memorial having started in 26th spot and
finished 7th while Randy Stoudt went from 17th to 2nd in the Late Model main
event. The Modified Hard Charger also received 10 gallons of racing fuel.
The Salvage Transport Award, $30 cash, went to John Favinger . The award goes to
the Late Model racer who is the last racer to finish on the lead lap.
Dan’s Deli in Boyertown awards two hoagies to the leader of each feature at the
halfway mark.
Cargo Trailer Sales awards a $50 gift certificate to the tenth place finisher in
the Late Model feature race.

SHORT STORY: VONDOHREN AND ELY WIN FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW ON SATURDAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 27, 2008 . . . Making it look rather easy Craig VonDohren
drove to his fourth NASCAR 358 Modified stock car 30-lap feature victory on
Saturday night. Dave Ely waited until the fourth turn of the final lap in the
25-lap Zuber Realty Night URC Sprint Car feature race to take the lead and ride
to a victory.
At the finish of the Modified feature VonDohren had a comfortable lead over
second place John Tschudy who earned his best finish of the season. Point leader
Jeff Strunk came from 15th starting spot to finish third followed by Kevin
Hirthler and Danny Hieber.
David Gravel took the lead on the third lap of the URC Sprint feature and looked
as if he was on his way to his first career win coming off the fourth turn of
the final lap. Ely charged to the outside in the final turn and just edged
Gravel for the win. Third spot went to Becca Anderson followed by point leader
Curt Michael and Trevor Lewis.
One of the biggest events of the season comes up on Saturday, August 2nd as the
38th Annual Forrest Rogers Memorial 50-lapper for Modifieds is presented along
with a full show of Late Model stock car racing. Spectator gates open at 5:30
p.m. while racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

VONDOHREN WINS MODIFIED FEATURE, ELY TOPS IN URC SPRINTS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 27, 2008 . . . Craig VonDohren made winning look easy on
Saturday night in front of a huge crowd at Grandview Speedway while Dave Ely
really had to work for his win.
Six time track champion VonDohren drove the Felty Farms/Stauffer Construction
No.1c to victory in the 30-lap Zuber Realty Night NASCAR 358 Modified feature
race finishing with a comfortable lead over the field. The win was the fourth of
the season for the Oley, PA veteran racer.
For Ely winning the 25-lap United Racing Company Rislone Sprint Series feature
race took patience and a charge to the front on the final two laps that earned
him a victory by just a few feet over second place finisher Dave Gravel.
Mark Kratz took the 30-car starting field to the green flag and led the first
lap. Marc Fehr went to the front on the second circuit of the one-third-mile,
banked clay oval. Tommy Scheetz Jr. spun bringing out the caution and on the
restart there was a major melee that involved several cars.
With everything cleared up Fehr continued to lead and he set the pace until the
14th lap when Craig VonDohren, coming from 11th starting spot, charged into the
top position.
Once in front VonDohren was able to pull away from the field. At 20 laps a two
car tangle on the backstretch closed the field up on the leader with Kevin
Hirthler now in second spot.
On the restart a multi car tangle in turn four caught Fehr, Brad Missimer and
Chris Esposito, all top five runners, and sent them to the back of the pack.
With five laps to the finish VonDohren had a new challenger in John Tschudy
running his best race of the season. However Tschudy was not able to mount a
challenge as VonDohren charged across the finish line more than a straightaway
in front of the field. Tschudy (Birdsboro) finished second followed by current
point leader Jeff Strunk (Mohnton) who came from 15th starting spot. Kevin
Hirthler (Boyertown) finished fourth while Danny Hieber (Penndel) got his best
finish of the season finishing in fifth spot.
In the 25-lap feature for the URC Sprints Brett Schoenly went to the front at
the drop of the green and held the top spot until the third circuit when David
Gravel took the top spot.
Just a week ago Gravel had won a feature at Big Diamond Raceway but had the win
taken away when his car failed to pass tech inspection. It would have been his
first career win.
This night Gravel (Watertown, CT.) looked like it would be his night to finally
get his first feature win as he lead the feature right on up until the fourth
turn of the final lap. An early race challenge by Ely had fallen short and Becca
Anderson tried to take the lead but was not strong enough. Gravel ran a near
perfect race and with the checkered flag in sight he had to be figuring the win
was his.
Ely charged from third to second on the next to last lap stunning Anderson who
had been in second for several laps and then set his sights on the leader. The
crowd was on its feet as Ely charged toward the leader, took advantage of a
slower car that may have hampered leader Gravel, and made an outside move in
turn four nipping the leader at the finish line.
Gravel got second followed by Becca Anderson, current URC point leader Curt
Michael and Trevor Lewis.
Qualifying events for the United Racing Company sprint cars went to Brett
Schoenly, Kevin Darling, and Chuck Palmucci with the consolation race being won
by Kyle Purks.
Wins in the heat races for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds went to Marc Fehr, Craig
VonDohren, Jeff Strunk and Kevin Hirthler while the consolation victories going
to Doug Manmiller and Cliff Quinn.
The Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger award, worth $50 to went to Tommy
Scheetz Jr. in the NASCAR 358 Modified feature as he gained 18 positions after
starting 26th and finishing 8th.
Coming up on Saturday, August 2nd is the 38th Annual Forrest Rogers Memorial 50
lap championship for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds paying $10,000 to win. In addition
the Late Models will be racing. The night is run in memory of the man who
created the Grandview Speedway.

WILL WE SEE A NEW NAME ON THE LIST OF WINNERS OF THE FORREST ROGERS MEMORIAL AT
GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY?
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 25, 2008 . . . Believe it or not Duane Howard has never
won the Forrest Rogers Memorial.
The Oley, PA racer has won just about everything there is to be won at Grandview
Speedway and other area tracks. A victory in the Forrest Rogers Memorial somehow
has eluded him. There have been some seasons that he has not been able to race
in it because he was involved in point battles at another track.
With $10,000 on the line and the prestige of winning one of the most respected
358 Modified events Howard is looking forward to the challenge on Saturday,
August 2nd at Grandview Speedway. Racing will get the green at 7:30 p.m. and
will include a full show of 358 Modifieds along with the Late Models.
The Memorial is run to honor the memory of the man who had the idea, created the
plan and built the speedway.
There have been 37 Memorials and there is an all star list of names on the
winner’s list. Duane Howard would like to add his name.
Howard had three wins and was in a battle for another NASCAR Whelen All American
Series championship earlier this season when, for reasons only known to those
involved in the decision, the team decided to leave Grandview. Some say it was
because they just didn’t want the pressure of another point battle. They lost
the title by one point last year.
Duane Howard will be back with the Chad Sinon/BPG Racing Alex’s Lemonade Stand
No. 4 hoping to get the “monkey off his back” and win a Forrest Rogers Memorial.
Imagine he has a long list of wins at Grandview. He has won big races and small
races. He has won the BPG Racing Freedom 76. He has three championships at
Grandview. It seems that the only challenge left for him at Grandview is the
38th annual Forrest Rogers Memorial 50-lapper that takes place on Saturday,
August 2nd.
$10,000 waits for the winner.
Of course there is a long list of drivers that will do what they can to keep
Howard from winning including former winners Craig VonDohren, Kerry Kratz, Terry
Meitzler, Jason Hamilton and others. On top of that there will be a number of
young talents also trying for their first Forrest Rogers Memorial win including
Mike Gular, Ryan Godown, Kevin Hirthler, Doug Manmiller, Danny Erb and a number
of others.
In addition to the action for the 358 Modifieds there will be a full slate of
qualifying events leading up to the 20-lap feature for the Late Models. A tight
point battle continues for the Late Model title between past champions Chuck
Schutz and Randy Stoudt.
Admission for adults is $20, kids are 6 pay $5 and under 6 admitted free. Always
free parking on the speedway grounds and fans are free to bring their own
concessions (no glass bottles).
Coming up on Saturday, August 9th, is WNPV-AM Radio Night featuring the NASCAR
358 Modifieds and Late Models with racing starting at 7:30 p.m.
Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, in
Bechtelsville, PA 10 miles north of Pottstown. For information telephone

SHORT STORY: MEITZLER, STOUDT AND MCCOLLUM EARN FEATURE WINS AT GRANDVIEW
Former Modified champion Terry Meitzler won his second NASCAR 358 Modified
feature of the season on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway edging Jeff Strunk
by inches at the finish line in the 30-lap Hatfield Quality Meats Modified
feature race. The 20-lap main event for Late Models went to Randy Stoudt for his
third win of the season and Todd McCollum grabbed his first Central PA. Legends
feature.
Meitzler and Strunk ran side by side for at least the final ten laps of the
30-lap main event for the Modifieds with the two coming across the finish line
virtually side by side with Meitzler getting the nod from officials winning by
inches. Strunk took second followed by Kerry Kratz, Ryan Godown and Meme
DeSantis.
The 20-lap feature for Late Models had Wayne Pfeil leading for much of the
feature and Randy Stoudt leading the final laps to gain the win. Second place
went to Mike Kellner while Ed Trimbur got third followed by Wayne Pfeil and Kyle
Merkel.
Todd McCollum had a relatively easy time of it in the 15-lapper for the Legends
racer, earning his first win. Brian Weitzel came home second while Scott
Houdeshell managed to gain a third place finish.
United Racing Company Sprint cars are in action along with the NASCAR 358
Modifieds on Saturday, July 26th at 7:30 p.m. Zuber Realty is the sponsor.
_____________________________________________________________
MEITZLER WINS BY INCHES OVER STRUNK, STOUDT GETS THIRD WIN IN LATE MODELS AND
MCCOLLUM IS FIRST IN LEGENDS AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 20, 2008 . . . The final laps of the 30-lap Hatfield
Quality Meats NASCAR 358 Modified feature at Grandview Speedway on Saturday
night was a seesaw battle between former champion Terry Meitzler and current
point leader Jeff Strunk with Meitzler getting the win by just inches at the
finish line.
Randy Stoudt went to the front in the 20-lap Late Model feature with eight laps
remaining and never looked back to take his third win of the season. The 15-lap
Glick Fire Equipment Co. Central Pennsylvania Legends feature was won by Todd
McCollum.
Chris Esposito led the starting field to the green and set the pace for the
first three laps of 30-lap Modified feature race before a three car tangle that
included Doug Manmiller, Rick Schaffer and Mike Gular brought out the caution.
On the restart Esposito was again in charge with Tom Umbenhauer applying
pressure. With seven laps complete Shawn Reimert came to a stop in turn two
bringing out the caution and closing up the field bringing Terry Meitzler into
the picture as a factor in the battle for the lead.
With 12 laps in the record book Tom Umbenhauer was out with a flat tire and a
red flag, for a medical emergency, brought the field to a stop. Terry Meitzler
was in the front while Chris Esposito held second.
On the restart Meitzler was in charge but a five car pileup brought out a
caution that again closed up the field. Meitzler again took command when the
green came out and he had Esposito and Jeff Strunk to contend with.
With 15 laps completed Strunk was running the low groove and putting pressure on
the leader Meitzler who was making his Berks Products No. 81 work in the high
groove.
The duo rain side-by-side, Strunk low and Meitzler high, lap after lap in a
battle that had fans standing on their seats. At the finish some fans thought
Strunk had won and some thought Meitzler gained the win. Officials declared
Meitzler the winner by the narrowest of margins.
“I did not know who won at the finish,” said Meitzler (Kutztown) in victory
lane. “I gave him (Strunk) room and he gave me room. It was a great win for our
team.” Meitzler had started in 11th while Strunk came from 16th.
Strunk (Mohnton) unsure of the finish actually drove his car to victory lane but
was assured by officials that the correct decision was made. Kerry Kratz
(Bechtelsville) had a strong third place finish with Ryan Godown (Ringoes)
getting fourth followed by Meme DeSantis (Temple) coming from 25th starting
spot.
Wayne Pfeil Jr. was in front as the green flag dropped for the 20-lap Late Model
feature with Ed Trimbur close behind. Pfeil (Mohnton) was the man to beat for
the first 12 laps of the main event before Randy Stoudt, coming from 9th
starting spot, was able to charge past both leader Pfeil and challenger Trimbur
to take the top spot.
In the closing laps Mike Kellner came to the front and tried to challenge Stoudt
for the win but the laps ran out before he could make a serious effort.
At the finish Stoudt (Pottstown), in his TP Trailers/Merkel Rebar No. 118, had a
comfortable lead over second place Mike Kellner (Lansdale). Ed Trimbur
(Boyertown) held on for third followed by Wayne Pfeil Jr. (Mohnton) and Kyle
Merkel (Gilbertsville).
The Central PA. Legends feature had Paul McCollum in front at the start of the
15-lapper. McCollum was able to stay in the lead for eight laps before his
brother Todd took control of the race. Once in front Todd McCollum (Bridgewater,
NJ) was able to lead the balance of the feature to gain the victory. Second went
to Brian Weitzel followed by Scott Houdeshell (coming from 15th starting spot),
Jason Rochelle (who spun on the backstretch early in the feature) and Bill Diehl
(who had started on the pole).
Qualifying heats for the Legends went to Randy Kissinger, Reed Salony and Paul
McCollum while the consolation race was won by Jim Black.
In the NASCAR Modifieds qualifying events were won by Mike Gular, Chris
Esposito, Tom Umbenhauer and Craig VonDorhen. Consolation wins went to Ryan Grim
and Tommy Scheetz Jr.

Trimbur.

SHORT STORY: STRUNK, HENNING AND ROCHELLE WIN AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 13, 2008 . . . For the third time this season Jeff Strunk,
the current NASCAR Modified point leader, drove to victory in the 30-lap Excel
Collision NASCAR Whelen All American Series Modified feature race at Grandview
Speedway on Saturday night. Bill Henning came home first in the Late Model
20-lap main event and Jason Rochelle was the winner in the 11-lap Legends
feature.
Jason Hamilton and Craig VonDohren both tried to give Strunk a run for the money
in the Modified feature but Strunk was comfortably in front at the finish.
However Hamilton and VonDohren came across the finish line almost in a dead heat
with Hamilton getting the edge. VonDohren took third followed by Ryan Godown and
Cliff Quinn.
Wayne Pfeil looked like he was going to get his first win leading many of the
early laps in the 20-lap Late Model feature. Henning managed to reel him in and
take the lead on the 13th circuit. Once in front Henning rolled to an easy win
while Pfeil finished second. Ed Trimbur took third followed by Randy Stoudt and
Ron Kline.
The Legends feature, scheduled for 15 laps and cut to 11 due to time
constraints, had Scott Houdeschell leading most of the race with Rochelle taking
command in the late laps and riding to victory. Second spot went to Houdeschell
followed by John Schirk, Frank Polimeda and Rodney Kistler.
The Big Block Modifieds are in action on Wednesday evening, 7:30 p.m., in the
Traffic Jam 100. On Saturday night it is Hatfield Quality Meats Night featuring
the Modifieds, Late Models and Legends starting at 7:30 p.m.

STRUNK, HENNING AND ROCHELLE WIN FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 13, 2008 . . . Jeff Strunk, a six time NASCAR Modified
champion at Grandview Speedway, looks like he just may be on his way to a
seventh title as he won his third feature of the season winning the Excel
Collision 30-lap NASCAR Modified feature race on Saturday night. Bill Henning
was able to grab his second Late Model feature victory and Jason Rochelle drove
his Legends stock car to victory in the 11 lap Rolling Thunder Legends feature
race.
Troy Wink took the lead on the drop of the green from polesitter Chris Esposito
in the Modified main event. At the second circuit of the one third mile banked
clay oval Todd Marburger was nipping at the heels of Wink and on the fourth lap
Marburger went to the front.
Lap after lap Marburger held on to the top spot with Cliff Quinn running his
best race of the season in second and Jason Hamilton right behind.
At the halfway mark Marburger earned the Dan’s Deli Halfway Leader Award.
Three laps later Jeff Strunk, coming from 16th spot, moved into second spot and
put some strong pressure on the leader. Just one lap later Strunk, a master at
Grandview, put the Gold Rush Custom Trailers No. 126 in front of the pack and
that is where he stayed for the balance of the 30-lap feature.
In the late stages of the race Jason Hamilton and Craig VonDohren put on a great
battle for second spot with Hamilton just able to get the edge on the final lap
coming off the fourth turn.
At the finish Strunk (Mohnton) had a comfortable lead while Hamilton (Erwinna)
edged out VonDohren (Oley) for second. Fourth place was taken by Ryan Godown (Ringoes,
NJ) in another strong showing while Cliff Quinn (Coopersburg), an early
challenger for the win, settled for fifth spot.
In victory lane Strunk told the fans that it was one heck of a race track with
lots of room to maneuver. Strunk continues to increase in lead in the chase of
the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Modified championship.
In the 20-lap main event for the NASCAR Late Models it looked like a first
career victory for Wayne Pfeil in the early laps as he was comfortably in front
of the field.
With eight laps complete Pfeil had Bill Henning and Ed Trimbur to contend with
for the top spot.
Five laps later Henning, winner of his first feature in five years a couple
weeks back, took over first place and held the top spot for the final seven
circuits of the one-third-mile, banked clay oval.
At the finish Henning (Lansdale), who for the past two seasons seemed to have
only bad luck, held a comfortable lead as he brought the Henning Supermarket/WNPV-AM
Radio No. 80 home first. Second spot went to Wayne Pfeil (Mohnton) followed by
Ed Trimbur (Boyertown), Randy Stoudt (Pottstown) and Ron Kline (Salford).
For the first four laps of the Legends feature, scheduled to be 15 laps but cut
to 11 due to time constraints, Buddy Sload was the leader. In the fifth circuit
Sload spun in the second turn giving the lead to Bill Diehl. A short time later
Scott Houdeshell grabbed the top spot and Jason Rochelle went to the front in
the closing laps to get the victory. The Schnecksville, PA racer had just a
narrow lead over Houdeshell for the win. Third spot was taken by John Schirk
followed by Frank Polimeda, a feature winner at Grandview earlier in the season,
and Rodney Kistler.
Qualifying heats for the Legends were won by Buddy Sload, Jason Rochelle and
Reed Saloney. In the Modifieds qualifying heat wins were earned by Chris
Esposito, Kevin Hirthler, Tommy Scheetz Jr. and Mike Gular while the consolation
race victories went to Craig VonDohren and Don Norris Jr.. The Late Model heat
races had wins going to Chuck Schutz, Ed Trimbur and Bill Henning.
The Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger awards, worth $50 to each driver, went
to Craig VonDohren in the Modified feature going from 21st starting spot to
finish third. In the Late Models it was Randy Stoudt gaining six spots to finish
fourth.
The NASCAR Whelen All American Series Modifieds along with the Late Models and
Legends stock cars will all be part of an action packed tripleheader show that
starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 19th with sponsorship from Hatfield
Quality Meats. The first 500 adults through the front gate will received a FREE
ARCA 200 ticket for August 2nd at Pocono Raceway. There will also be free
Pennsylvania 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race tickets given away to some lucky fans.
The first Enduro competition will be offered at Grandview in more than 10 years
on Sunday, July 20th at 5 p.m. A 100 lapper for the big cars will be presented
along with a 100 lapper for the small cars and a 50-lapper for the trucks.
United Racing Company sprint cars are featured in a doubleheader show on
Saturday, July 26th at 7:30 p.m. along with the NASCAR 358 Modifieds sponsored
by Zuber Realty.

thru 11 and under 6 are admitted free with a paying adult. There is always free

SHORT STORY: STRUNK AND MIKE KELLNER WIN BEER CITY NASCAR FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW
SPEEDWAY
Bechtelsville, PA July 6, 2008 . . . Young Mike Kellner drove the Touch of Green
Landscaping No. 57 Late Model to victory in the Beer City Firecracker 40 Late
Model race on Saturday night getting his first win in the classic event which
was won four times by his father, Jon Kellner Sr.
The 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All American Series Modified feature went to Jeff
Strunk, driving the Gold Rush Custom Trailers No. 126 in a final lap fourth turn
pass of Jason Hamilton.
In the closing laps of the Firecracker 40 Chuck Schutz applied pressure but it
was too little too late as Kellner picked up his fourth win of the season.
Schutz held on for second followed by early leader Wayne Pfeil Jr., Kyle Merkel
and Randy Stoudt.
The finish in the 30-lap Modified feature sent fans home talking to themselves
as a lapped car caused leader Jason Hamilton to change his groove in the third
turn of the final lap. Strunk was able to take advantage, outmaneuvering
Hamilton, and go on to win. Ryan Godown snuck in for second while Hamilton was
shuffled back to third. Doug Manmiller earned a fourth place finish while Craig
VonDohren settled for fifth.
NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models and Legends cars are all in action on Saturday,
July 12th at 7:30 p.m. with racing sponsored by Excel Collision of
Bechtelsville, PA.

FINAL LAP PASS GETS STRUNK A WIN AT GRANDVIEW, MIKE KELLNER WINS BEER CITY
FIRECRACKER 40
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 6, 2008 . . . A final lap pass between the third and
fourth turns gave Jeff Strunk and the Gold Rush Custom Trailers No. 126 their
second win of the season in the 30-lap Beer City NASCAR 358 Modified feature
race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. In the annual Firecracker 40, the
biggest event of the season for the Late Model stock cars, Mike Kellner was able
to take his first win in the classic event wheeling the Touch of Green
Landscaping No. 57.
The 29-car starting field for the Modified feature race had their share of
problems getting the event started. Two cautions for accidents on the first lap
eliminated Ryan Beltz from the field and put Shawn Reimert to the back of the
pack.
Chris Gambler set the first lap pace with Kurt Spotts moving to the front on the
second circuit of the one-third-mile, banked clay oval. Cautions plagued the
fourth lap with no less than four cautions slowing the pace of the event and
sending the field into a single file restart.
At five laps Kurt Spotts was in charge with Chris Gambler keeping the leader
within his sights.
Jason Hamilton became a factor with six laps in the record book and for the next
six laps Hamilton put heavy pressure on the leader. Todd Smith brought out a
caution on the 12th lap when he stopped in the third turn. The restart saw
Hamilton shoot to the front.
Three laps later six time track champion and current point leader Jeff Strunk,
coming from 16th starting spot, was pressuring Hamilton and Ryan Godown, who had
started 22nd, was now third.
Early leader Spotts hit the wall hard in turn four. He was out for the night but
not injured.
With 20 laps tallied Hamilton continued to lead with Strunk, Godown, Doug
Manmiller and Craig VonDohren in the chase.
Hamilton continued to master the clay oval and Strunk until the final lap when a
lapped car, running in the third turn, forced Hamilton to slow and change his
groove. Strunk, a master at Grandview, took advantage and snuck under the
leader, forcing him out a little, and took the lead and rode to his second win
of the season.
Strunk (Mohnton) earned $2250 for his first place effort.
Second spot went to Ryan Godown (Ringoes, NJ) while Hamilton (Erwinna) finished
a disappointing third. Doug Manmiller (Shoemakersville) came home fourth
followed by six time track champion Craig VonDohren (Oley).
In victory lane Strunk told victory lane interviewer Pete Knappenberger that he
didn’t know if he could have gotten the win if the lapped car had not “helped
him.”
Wayne Pfeil Jr., looking for his first career victory at Grandview, took the
lead at the drop of the green in the Firecracker 40 and pulled away from the
field.
At the end of five laps Pfeil had a comfort
