PAUCH SR. AND LATHROUM GRAB GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY FEATURES AS LAUBACH IS CROWNED
GARDEN STATE CHAMP FOR 2008
GEORGETOWN, DE (November 22, 2008) – Billy Pauch Sr. drove the famed #126 Big
Block Modified of Glenn Hyneman to victory in the 30-lap Garden State Dual Track
Series finale at Georgetown Speedway. Rick Laubach from Hellertown, PA claimed
the Garden State Dual Track Series championship. Jamie Lathroum took the
checkered flag in the 30-lap Super Late Model Feature. John Stangle claimed the
Crate Modified feature while Jack Mullins Jr. was the victor in the Crate Late
Model feature. The Little Lincoln main event was won by Mel Joseph Jr.
Jimmy Chester took the early lead of the 30-lap feature for the Big Block
Modifieds with Richie Pratt Jr., Billy Pauch Jr., Ryan Godown, and Billy Pauch
Sr. in early pursuit. Bryant Brown’s ride came to stop on the backstretch on lap
3 bringing out the first caution. Chester kept the lead on the restart with Chad
James able to get by Godown and Pauch Sr. for fourth place. Pratt Jr. was
able to get by Chester for the lead on lap 9. One lap later, Jim Britt stopped
near the flag stand drawing a yellow flag. When action resumed, Pauch Jr.,
Godown , Pauch Sr., and James were able to slip by Chester. James developed a
flat tire and stopped on the backstretch on lap 13. On the restart, Pauch Sr.
took third spot from Godown on lap 14. On the next lap, Pauch Sr. shot
pass his son and Pratt Jr. to take the lead. Pauch Jr. followed his father into
second place. Pratt Jr. reassumed the runner-up spot six laps later. Pauch Sr.
was able to hold off Pratt Jr. the rest of the way to collect the $3000 first
place prize. Pratt Jr. came home in second place. Godown, Pauch Jr. and Danny
Johnson completed the top five. Rick Laubach finished in sixth place and
captured the Garden State Dual Track Series championship for 2008. Laubach won
five of the eight races in the series. Pratt Jr., James, and Keith Hoffman won
the heat races and Bill Klingmeyer was the victor in the consolation
event.
The initial start of the 30-lap Super Late Model feature was aborted as Ricky
Elliot developed a flat tire after brushing the wall along the frontstretch.
When flagger Gary Buzby waved the green flag again, Scott Haus took the early
lead. The caution flag was out on lap 2 when Steve Axtell Jr. spun in turn four.
When racing resumed, Mark Pettyjohn grabbed the lead from Haus and John Callaway
motored into second place. A multi-car tangle on lap 3 slowed down the action
and Pettyjohn held off Callaway for the lead with Jamie Lathroum taking third
spot from Haus on the restart. On lap 6, Callaway took the lead from Pettyjohn
and Lathroum moved into second place. As the leader, Callaway began to encounter
lapped traffic starting on lap 10 until the caution waved on lap 14 for Ross
Robinson. Callaway chose the outside lane on the restart and kept his lead
briefly until Lathroum took the lead on lap 16. Also on lap 16, the yellow
lights flickered again for Axtell Jr. Lathroum continued to lead the race as
Pettyjohn moved back into second place on lap 18. Elliott continued his march to
the front and took second place from Pettyjohn on lap 21. With Elliott directly
behind him, Lathroum masterfully handled lapped traffic in the final three laps
to gain his first Georgetown Speedway victory. Coming back from two visits to
pit road, Elliott finished strongly in second place. Pettyjohn, Callaway and
fourteenth place starter Dan Stone filled out the top five. Super Late Model
heat races were won by Haus, Axtell Jr. and Elliott.
In the 20-lap Crate Modified race, John Stangle led wire-to-wire to take home
the $1000 check. Stangle started on the pole and fought off Jesse Hill in the
final laps for the victory. Hill, Adam Jarrell, Neal Williams, and Mike White
rounded out the top five finishers. Hill, White, Stangle, and Neal Williams won
the Crate Modified qualifying events. Sean Gunther won the consolation
race.
Polesitter Jack Mullins Jr. led all 20 laps to win the Crate Late Model feature.
Eleventh place starter Mike Williams came home in second place. Sparky White
finished in third place after starting in eighteenth place. Herb Tunis and Chris
Hitchens completed the top five.
Mel Joseph Jr. won the Little Lincoln Feature. Joseph and Jamie Wagner swapped
the lead seven times during the 15-lap main event. Wagner held on for second
place.

GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY TO HOST THE ADVANCE AUTO PARTS SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES ON JULY
17
by Michael Wisniewski
GEORGETOWN, DE (June 13, 2008) - Since late August 2007, the Georgetown Speedway
has sat idle, with its future in racing questionable at best. Jay James, owner
of the Bridgeport Speedway and resident of nearby Laurel, DE, has taken over the
fast 1/2 mile speedway. And now with the James family at the helm, the
Georgetown Speedway will roar to life on Thursday, July 17 in a big way---by
hosting a 75 lap Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar series race. This will be the
second leg of the ‘Super Southern Swing’ as the first leg will take place at the
Grandview Speedway on Wednesday, July 16.
Alan and Danny Johnson, Billy Decker, Dale Planck, Brett Hearn, Steve Paine, Pat
O’Brien, Jimmy Phelps, Ryan Phelps, Matt Sheppard, Gary Tomkins, and young
hotshoe Larry Wight are all expected to travel south to Georgetown, DE for the
first ever Super DIRTcar series race at the speedway.
Big Block Modified Drivers from Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania are
beginning to make plans for this must see event and hope to take home the
checkered flag from their northern competitors.
Also, a second racing division will be added for this event and will be
announced shortly. On July 17, Pit Gates at Georgetown Speedway will open at
4:00 PM, Grandstand Gates open at 5:00 PM, and the racing will being at 7:30 PM
with time trials taking place at 7:00 PM.
Georgetown Speedway is a 1/2 mile dirt oval located on the northbound side of
U.S. Route 113, just 35 miles south of Dover, Delaware, a 45-minute drive from
Ocean City, and easily accessible from Washington DC, Baltimore, and
Philadelphia.

THE GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY AND PENINSULA OIL AND PROPANE BEAT THE WEATHER AND HAD A GREAT NIGHT OF ACTION!
By Wade Perdue Georgetown, DE... The weather didn't look good as threatening
sky's where all around the Georgetown Speedway. In fact just before intermission
the clouds opened up and a brief shower rolled through. All it did was cool off
the hot of the summer, and make the clay on the big ½ mile even faster, giving
the fans one heck of a show.
The first feature of the night was the Georgetown Vintage club for their ten lap
feature. Rick Loveland lead the field to the green, but it wasn't long before
Mark Williams would take the lead on lap one. Then the 11 of Mel Joseph Jr,
Morris Tucker and last weeks feature winner CJ Schirmer marched their way to the
front to make it a four car battle. CJ Schirmer would quickly take the lead and
left the rest of the field to battle for second. Schirmer in the number 23 would
take the win again followed by Morris Tucker in second. Mel Joseph in the
Bert Ritter 11 finishes in third. Mark Williams and Ronald Ford rounded out the
top five.

The Super Late Models hit the speedway for their 20 lap feature on Peninsula Oil
and Propane night. All the drivers had some extra incentive this week as a $200
bounty was put on new points leader Ricky Elliott. Pole sitter Rob Schirmer took
the lead from the start followed closely by Mark Pettyjohn. The caution would
come out as the PJ1 of Pettyjohn spins all by himself in turns one and two. That
put Schirmer still in the lead but the 45 of Ricky Elliott worked his way up to
second. It wasn't long before Elliott would take the lead on the restart and
never look back collecting the bonus for himself and $1800 in winnings. From
what I have heard the bounty will grow for the Super Lates in two weeks! New
comer to the Georgetown Speedway David Williams finished in the second spot
Kenny Pettyjohn finishes in third. Donald Lingo Jr. ,and Rob Schirmer rounded
out the top five.

The Crate Modifieds made their way out on the big ½ mile for fifteen laps of
action. Mike White lead the 17 car field to the green and jumped out in front
for a while. John Curtis was making a charge on White till he drove to low down
in turn one and clipped the huge tractor tires on the bottom of the track,
ripping the left front completely off the car ending his night on the hook. The
restart showed Mike White still as the leader but coming all the way from 10th
starting spot was the 30 of Jordon Watson. Watson would shot by White coming off
of turn two, and pull away by almost a full straightaway winning on Peninsula
Oil and Propane night. Mike White would finish second Andy Hammond and Justin
Griffith came off of turn 4 in a dead heat and at the stripe the front bumpers
were even and they tie for third. Tim Trimble rounded out the top five.

The last feature of the night hit the speedway on Peninsula Oil and Propane
night. The Crate Late Models scheduled for 15 laps of action with Eddie Williams
showing the way. Right at the drop of the green the 44 of Tyler Reed jumped out
in front and pulled away with lots of hard racing behind him. Dan Feidler and
Billy Mellon put on a good show for about 5 laps before the 88 of Eddie Williams
would spin cause a big pile up in turn four as caution flew. The field would
line back up Reed leading and Sparky White in his first night out in the number
3 made his way up in the top five from 15th starting position. Tyler Reed was
the class of the field as he wins ,with John Calloway second Ross Robinson
third. Ryan Walls and Sparky White rounded out the top five.

It was a Memorial night for The Georgetown Speedway and the American Cancer
Society!
8/3/07
By Wade Perdue Georgetown, DE.... The Ritter family could not have of thought of
a better way to honor him than to race, and race they did. It was a very hot
evening in Georgetown with temperatures in the 90's,but it didn't stop the fans,
as the stands were full and so were the pits. It was almost like he was there.
Just when the cars entered the speedway the wind picked up a little, cooling it
off about ten degrees. We think it was him, making just a little cooler so we
could enjoy a full night of action on the big half mile. The Georgetown Speedway
and The American Cancer Society presented The First Annual "Race For A Cure" in
honor of one of our own-- Bert Ritter.
The first of five features rolled out onto the speedway. The newly formed
Georgetown Vintage club lined up for 10 laps of action. Leading the field around
in the number 11 was Mel Joseph Jr. The number 11 has been owned by the Ritter
family since the 50's and is all original with exception of the motor. The green
flag flew with Joseph taking the early lead followed closely behind by Mark
Williams, CJ Schirmer, and Morris Tucker. All four cars were fighting for the
lead when the caution flew. The front pack was feeling very racy and did not
adhere to the caution and tangled causing damage to the 11 of Joseph ending his
night. Then it was Schirmer as he took the lead and never looked back, taking
the checkered flag. A close battle for second as Williams and Tucker drove side
by side coming off of four, as they crossed the line it was Mark Williams for
second and Morris Tucker finished third. Rick Loveland and Herbie Hobbs rounded
out the top five.

The second Feature on tap for the evening was the Super Late Models for their 20
lap feature. Dale Lingo in the 99L lead the 15 car field to the green followed
by Donald Lingo in the 22A. Close action involving Both the Lingo's the
Pettyjohn, Kenny and Mark, and the 45 of Ricky Elliott. Caution came out quickly
as the front runners were racing very close and it appeared that the 91 of Kenny
Pettyjohn got into the back of the PJ1 of Mark Pettyjohn, causing him to spin.
The green flag was dropped once again with Donald Lingo leading, but a hard
charging Ricky Elliott was knocking on the door and took the lead from Lingo
winning the race. Kenny Pettyjohn finished second followed by Donald Lingo,
Jamie Lathroum and Mark Pettyjohn battled back to finish 5th.

The Big Block Modifieds came out for their 20 lap feature on Bert Ritter
Memorial night with the 5 of Don Hallowell starting on the pole. The race was
pretty clean between the front runners Hallowell, and the 26 of Ryan Godown.
Godown took the lead just after half way when a vicious crash involving one of
the tires in turn one and Jimmy Horton IV. The 43 of Horton clipped one of the
big tractor tires on the inside of the speedway. These tires are to keep the
drivers from going to low in the corner and chopping the corner off. Horton's
car jumped high into the air as the right front tire went underneath, the 43
launching him several feet landing directly down on the nose of the car once
again and turning over landing on his wheels. Horton was a little shaken as you
may expect but otherwise ok. With only a few laps remaining Ryan Godown had a
commanding lead as the 85 of Wade Hendrickson tried to reel him in. Hendrickson
runs out of time and Ryan Godown wins his second of the year at Georgetown and
his second in a row. Wade Hendrickson finished second with Jamie Mills third.
Duane Rust and Jason Daliessio make up the top five.

The Crate Late Models came out onto the big half mile for their 15 lap main
event. The V75 of Eric McKinney showed the way and had no problems holding off
the 24 car field to win the Crate Late Model Feature. The cautions were plenty
however, just past half way the caution flew for a spin in turn four. Nick Davis
got sideways and was sitting in the middle of the turn when hard contact between
Davis and the 12K of Kevin Scott Jr. Scott appeared to have no where to go
hitting the 92 hard ending both drivers night. During the same caution the 63 of
John Imler went off the top of the backstretch and flips after hitting the dirt
embankment doing extensive damage to his car. All drivers in both wrecks were
ok. The rest of the race was dominated by Eric McKinney as he wins, followed by
the 14W of Ryan Walls in second. Tyler Reed, Ross Robinson and John Calloway
round out the top five.

The Crate Modifieds came out for the last feature of the evening. Grant Ireland
lead the 19 car field to the green and it wasn't long before the 9 of Jeff Brown
would take control as he passed both Ireland and Joseph Watson coming off of
turn two on lap one and pulled away by 5 car lengths going down the back
straightaway. It looked like Brown was going to be unbeatable pulling a full
straightaway from second place. Just past half way Browns car started to fade
all of a sudden as he started slipping back through the field giving the lead to
Joseph Watson. Watson lead the rest of the laps taking the win. After the
checkered flew the 16 of Ted Reynolds blew of the top hose on the radiator on
his machine. Reynolds suffered minor steam burns and was transported to the
hospital for a checkup. The 31 of Casey Lynch finished second Jordon Watson
finished third from his 10th starting position. Justin Griffith and John Lynch
rounded out the top five.

Georgetown Speedway
142 Broadkill Road
Milton, DE 19968
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
GEORGETOWN, DE-Like race car rusting in someone’s yard for 10-years Georgetown
Speedway in Georgetown, DE is in need of repairs. Since reopening last
season some needed repairs have been completed, others haven’t. Most
importantly the track’s electrical system is showing signs of age and lack
of upkeep. Over the past month wiring problems have caused short
blackouts.
“It has been frustrating over the past month or so to have the lights go
out during the race evening,” admitted track spokesperson David Brown.
“Fans, racers and crew members have been very understanding, but we owe it
to them to provide the best night of racing possible and feel these
repairs must be completed to our satisfaction before we race again,” Brown
added.
Speedway staff worked all week trying to correct these wiring problems.
Unfortunately the electrical problems have not been repaired forcing the
speedway’s Board of Investors to cancel racing for the next two Friday
nights July 20th and 27th. “We apologize to our fans and race teams for
having to cancel those shows,” Brown stated adding, “The track sat idle
for nearly 10- ears before we started racing again in 2006. The track saw
very little maintenance during that 10-year period and things like the
lights and wiring are now showing signs of failure following that long
period of sitting idle.”
When racing resumes August 3rd a grand event will be added to the
schedule. In memory of longtime speedway supporter Bert Ritter, who
recently lost a battle with cancer, a memorial event benefiting the
American Cancer Society Walk for a Cure will be held that night. Feature
racing that evening will include Big Block Modifieds, Super Late Models,
Crate Modified and Crate Late Models. The popular Georgetown Vintage
Racing Club will also join the August 3rd show and kids will have a chance
to win prizes including a chance to win a ride in the Georgetown Speedway
pace car leading feature fields to the green flag. Additional news
about this huge night of racing will be announced as soon as it’s
finalized.
The speedway’s full schedule is online at
www.georgetownspeedway.com.
Racing will continue on Friday nights through September. Additional special
events will be announced soon. Georgetown Speedway is located near all
Maryland and Delaware beaches so fans can enjoy great Friday night racing then
spend the rest of the weekend at the beautiful Delmarva shore. For more
information call the speedway office at 302.684.3197.

Speedway had worked out differences with sprint car racing and that the events
were scheduled for August 3rd, November 2nd. etc. This release was incorrect and
not sent out by Georgetown Speedway Management. Georgetown Speedway will not be
running Sprint car races during 2007. If your paper included this release last

Georgetown Speedway Reopens After Honoring a Great Friend
Georgetown Speedway will reopen July 20th after leaving the facility silent on
July 13th in honor of long-time race supporter, car owner and former driver,
Bert Ritter of Harbeson. Mr. Ritter passed away July 11th after a lengthy
illness. The Management of Georgetown Speedway felt it was only fitting to close
the Speedway so the racing family could attend Ritter’s services on July 13th.
Georgetown Speedway will reopen Friday, July 20th with the P.O.D.S. sponsored
event featuring Big Block Modifieds, Crate Late Models, Crate Modifieds, and
Little Lincolns. The Eastern Motorsports Museum will also be on hand with
restored racing cars from the 1930-1940 era on display. Children will be
included in the event with draws for free teeshirts and pace car rides to the
lucky winners.
Georgetown Speedway is finalizing details for a Bert Ritter Memorial Race
scheduled for August 3rd. The event will serve double duty to remember Mr.
Ritter and will be a benefit for the American Cancer Society Walk for a Cure.
Many of Ritter’s former racing associates including Freddy Brightbill have been
invited to share in the night’s event.

“Elliott Makes Quick Work of Georgetown Late Model Field”
By Doug Watson
Georgetown Delaware, Seaford Delaware’s Ricky Elliott once again stood in the
Georgetown Speedway victory lane as he scored a thrilling win in the divisions
20-lap feature last Friday night.
One-time Georgetown late model feature winner Kenny Pettyjohn blasted from the
pole to take the early race lead. As Pettyjohn led effortlessly through the
first half of the event, tenth starting Ricky Elliott was making his presence
known. Elliott worked his way into second by the 5th lap and began closing in on
leader Pettyjohn. Once Elliott caught Pettyjohn, the race was far from over.
The duo would battle side by side for several laps, keeping the large Georgetown
crowd on their feet. Unfortunately Pettyjohn’s Mid-Coastal Siding Rocket pulled
up lame on the 18th circuit with mechanical problems handing the lead to
Elliott. That was all Elliott needed as he scampered away to collect his third
Georgetown late model win of the season. Pettyjohn’s brilliant run ended with an
eighth place finish. “That was a real bad deal for Kenny (Pettyjohn) I hated to
see him break like that.” Were the words from Elliott as he stood in
Georgetown’s victory lane. “The track was in great shape tonight and the top was
definitely the fastest way around, but I needed the lapped cars if I was going
to get Kenny.”
Ray Davis Jr. would come home second, Mary Pettyjohn was third, David Pettyjohn,
after an early race spin, rebounded for fourth and Rob Schirmer completed the
top-five.
Pit Notes,
Heats for the season-low 12 car field went to Ricky Elliott and Kenny Pettyjohn.
The third place Effort by Mark Pettyjohn was only his second top-five of the
season. Track conditions were superb as the dust-free surface was smooth and
very racy offering the competitors multiple lanes for racing.

Lingo Injured in Bizarre Last Lap Crash at Georgetown
By Doug Watson
As Georgetown late model winner Ricky Elliott was taking the checkered flag in
the divisions 20-lap main a grinding front stretch crash marred the conclusion
of the event. Donald Lingo Jr. and Ray Davis Jr. had been waging a fierce battle
for second. As the pair raced off the fourth turn toward the checkered flag the
lapped car of Bobby Williamson, who was at least three laps off the pace, was in
the immediate path of the oncoming racers. Davis went high and Lingo went low
with Lingo making contact with the Williamson machine sending Lingo hard into
the front stretch retaining wall at full speed.
After the dust had settled, Davis avoided the incident and went on to finish
second but Lingo was not as fortunate. Immediately the red flag was displayed as
Lingo was slow to climb from his destroyed #22A as it sat on the home stretch.
The Georgetown medical crew was quickly on the scene and discovered that Lingo
had a pretty nasty wrist injury. As the demolished #22A was towed to the pit
area I had a chance to catch up with Lingo and get his thoughts on the incident.
“That Guy (Bobby Williamson) shouldn’t have been there.” Stated a very somber
and shaken Lingo. “ I can understand a guy trying to learn, but he’s been around
for a long time and the end result is a brand new car is destroyed.” So what
exactly is Georgetown’s lapped car policy? “ I’m not sure Lingo added. “Every
time I got near him I don’t think he knew where he was going! He shouldn’t have
been out there.” “We started dead last and had a shot at a good finish, but I
really feel bad for my car owners Alex and Theresa Beaumont they have a lot of
money in this deal, and now it’s pretty torn-up.”
Car owner Alex Beaumont was visibly upset after the incident as well. “ I don’t
mind guy’s like that starting races, but when their more than two laps down it’s
just not their night and they need to get off the track. This is a complete
disgrace because this wreck is going to cost me at least $10,000 because the car
is just about totaled and the guy who caused us to wreck doesn’t have half that
much in his entire car!
Georgetown officials were unavailable for comment

John Keller’s 54x lead the field to the start. Lap one saw the 26 of Ryan Godown who started third, jump into the lead, but it wouldn’t hold. The field was immediately put under caution as Don Hallowell and Dale Hawkins getting together both spin, and the lights on the back straight away went dark causing a small fire on the ground. Safety crews from Station 77 of the Georgetown Fire Co. responded to scene and quickly doused the flames. Track officials worked fast to repair the lights ,and the action continued. Georgetown,DE--- The second half of the firecracker 40 presented by Grottos
Pizza had the Super Late Models taking the stage on the big half mile oval the
new clay surface was really smooth and fast as Kenny Pettyjohn in the number 11
led the field to the green. Bringing out the first caution on lap 3 was David
Pettyjohn as he spins in 3 and 4. The restart and the field looked like this:
Kenny Pettyjohn the leader; followed by Rob Schirmer; the 84 of Ray Davis, Jr;
Mark Pettyjohn; and Ricky Elliott already up to the fifth spot after starting
deep in the field. It didn’t take Elliot long on lap 4 he pulls a bansa passing
both Mark Pettyjohn and Ray Davis, Jr. as they go three wide and Elliott
completes the pass putting him in second. The halfway point Pettyjohn was
leading by a turn with Elliott closing. The two battled side by side for 3 laps
when a caution flew with Bob Geiger spinning. That set up a shoot out between
Pettyjohn and Elliott, the two battled only to have something break on the #11
Mid Coastal Late Model Kenny Pettyjohn as his car slowed coming off of turn 2.
That put Ricky Elliott in the Seaside Builders #45 in Victory Lane. The fans
thought the action was over coming off of 4 the lap car of Bobby Williamson was
given the move over flag as Ray Davis, Jr. and Donald Lingo Jr. were battling
side by side for second, Davis chose the high line getting around Williamson as
he moved to the bottom of the race track, choosing the same line as Williamson
was Lingo, the two got together, sending Lingo hard into the inside railing.
Lingo was a little shook up but ok. Ray Davis finishing second, Mark Pettyjohn
third; David Pettyjohn battled back for 4th , and Rob Schirmer rounded out the
top 5. The Super Late Models return to Action Friday night July 13th along with
the Crate Modifieds and Crate Late Models. Gates Open at 5pm /first heat at 745.

The Crate Late Models took to the track for their twenty lap feature. The #11 of
Joe Warren lead the field to the green. The # 86 of Eric Vent took the lead
right at the start. On lap three Ed Corbin and Jon Callaway spin in three and
four to bring out the first caution. That put Vent as the leader Warren second
and Mike Wilson in third. Caution would fly again a Billy Mellon gets help and
spins. The green would come out again with a good battle for the lead between
Eric Vent and Ross Robinson. Robinson was all over the back bumper of Vent
before taking the lead. A hard hit for Ed Corbin as he collides with Bunky White
off of turn 2 Sending Corbin into the embankment on the backstretch .His car
flew high into the air landing on its wheels he would be ok, but extensive
damage to that machine. That set up the final laps to be decided with Eric Vent
not able to hold off the #7 Grotto Pizza Crate Late model of Ross Robinson as he
takes the win. Mike Wilson would finish second ,Vent finished third as the lap
car of Bunky White held up the field shuffling several drivers back. Ryan Walls
gets fourth and Mike Wharton rounded out the top five.

Pauch Cruises To First Georgetown Win Of 2007
Georgetown, DE ….. Billy Pauch raced to his first Big Block Modified feature win
of 2007 on Friday night at the Georgetown Speedway. Pauch led the final
twenty-one laps of the 25 lap main to seal the victory over Ryan Godown. In
other action Jon Calloway scored his second win of the year in the 20 lap Crate
Late Model feature. Joseph Watson also won his second 20 lap feature of the year
in Crate Modified action. The Little Lincoln 10 lap feature was won by Donald
Robinson Jr..
Ryan Godown of Ringoes, NJ led sixteen Big Block Modifieds to the green flag and
searching for his second win of the year. Jamie Mills was trying to find a way
around Godown but Dale Hawkins spun to bring out the only caution of the event.
When the racing resumed moments later, Pauch worked by Mills and then squeezed
by Godown just one circuit later. It would be the Billy Pauch show from that
period on as he raced to a comfortable victory in the Will Brown’s Truck Repair
and Kool Ice Seafood sponsored ride. Godown took second while Kenny Brightbill
raced to a distant third place showing. Jamie Mills slipped to the fourth
position while Wade Hendrickson moved up from his tenth starting position to
round out the top five.
“I thought we were in trouble with Godown starting up front,” said Pauch during
a post race interview. Pauch went on to finish saying, “But we managed get by
him pretty easily, which was surprising, and drove to the win.”
Ryan Walls got the jump on the green flag that began the 20 lap Crate Late Model
main event. Walls was leading but spun on the second lap, causing a seven car
pile-up resulting in damage to Kelly Putz, Jon Calloway, Eddie Williams, Bobby
Watkins, and Dan Fiedler, and himself.
Ray Davis Jr. assumed the lead and was immediately challenged by Mike Wharton
and Ross Robinson. Four more cautions over the next four laps allowed Calloway
to work back through the field and joined in on the challenge for the top spot.
Robinson moved to the front of the field and found Calloway knocking on the
door. The two raced side by side over the final five laps with Robinson always
able to win the race back to the line.
The final lap would be a bit different though as Calloway took the lead off of
turn two of the final circuit. Robinson tried one final time in turns three and
four, pulling alongside in the middle of the corner. Robinson’s move proved to
be too aggressive as he spun in front of the remaining field. Everyone managed
to work by Robinson as Calloway heading to the checkered flag.
Calloway, from Harrington, DE, drove the Calloway Furniture sponsored machine to
his second win of the year. Ray Davis Jr. took runner-up honors with Wharton
settling for third. Mike Wilson took fourth place while Fiedler brought his
heavily damaged racer home to a fifth place finish.
The Watson brothers have combined for four wins in the nine Crate Modified races
held to date. Jordan and Joseph Watson stole the show on Friday night as the two
swapped the lead on three occasions through several caution flags. In the end it
would be Joseph Watson racing away to a easy win over brother Jordan. Mike White
started tenth but took third place. Chuck Tucker and Jeff Brown rounded out the
top five.
The Georgetown Speedway returns to action on Friday night June 29 featuring the
Super Late Models. Crate Late Models and Crate Modifieds will also be on the
racing schedule. Gates will open at 5 pm, hot laps at 7 pm, and racing underway
at 7:40 pm. For more information, visit

Elliott Scores Georgetown Checkers
Georgetown, DE ….. Ricky Elliott of Seaford, DE led the final sixteen laps of
the Super Late Model twenty-five lap contest on Friday night to score his second
Georgetown victory of the year. Elliott, forced to start tenth after a poor pill
draw, worked through traffic like a knife through butter and raced to a
comfortable win over Donald Lingo Jr..
Ross Robinson of Georgetown collected his sixth 20 lap Crate Late Model victory
of the year in a race that saw just three caution flags. Mike White of Laurel,
DE won his first Crate Modified twenty lap feature of the year while CJ Schirmer
won the ten lap Georgetown Vintage Club event.
Donald Lingo Jr., piloting the Alex Beumont owned 22a in 2007, led the nineteen
car Super Late Model field to the green flag. Austin Hubbard quickly jumped into
the second position and began looking for ways to get around the race leader.
The two would battle for the top spot while Elliott began picking his way
through the field.
Ricky Elliott slipped under Hubbard for second after eight circuits and then
went right to work on Lingo. Lingo bobbled in turn two on the ninth lap and that
was all Elliott needed as the “Rocket” raced away to victory.
Hubbard was trying to save third when he had contact with David Pettyjohn as the
two raced side by side. Hubbard developed a flat tire on the sixteenth lap to
bring out just the second of three cautions. Hubbard went to the pits and left
Elliott, Lingo, and David Pettyjohn to fight it out.
A lap eighteen caution involving Vic Thomas and Rob Schirmer slowed the field
once more and gave Lingo and David Pettyjohn one last shot at the leader. When
the green dropped Elliott was up to the challenge and raced away to a two second
victory.
“This new clay held up nicely on the track and made this track even faster,”
proclaimed Elliott in victory lane. Elliot went on to add that, “I bet we were
going at least 10 miles per hour faster this week than two weeks ago when we
were here.”
Lingo held on a second place showing, his best finish of the year. David
Pettyjohn worked up from his eighth starting position to take third. Kenny
Pettyjohn rebounded from his lap one accident that sent him to the rear to take
fourth. Dale Lingo completed the top five.
Jamie Lathroum took sixth place honors while Mark Pettyjohn settled for seventh.
Ray Dais Jr., Ray Kale Jr., and Schirmer rounded out the top ten.
Jon Calloway bypassed pole sitter Joe Warren on the start of the twenty lap
Crate Late Model feature event. Calloway looked like he had the car to beat as
he paced the eighteen car field over the first thirteen circuits. Calloway found
Ryan Walls to be his stiffest competition in the early going but Ross Robinson
passed both of them in turns one and two and raced away to lead the fourteenth
lap.
Robinson never looked back and ran away to an emotional victory in which he
dedicated to his uncle that passed away earlier in the week. Calloway held off
Walls to take second while Walls settled back in third. Tyler Reed got by Mike
Wharton on lap nine but could never muster a challenge to Walls for position.
Staci Warrington kept busy during the twenty lap event as she moved up from her
last starting spot to round out the top five.
Jeff Brown led the twenty one starters to the green flag to begin the twenty lap
Crate Modified main event. Brown was up to the challenges from Andy Hammond over
the first eight laps as the one time feature winner looked for ways around the
leader. Hammond looked inside and out but could never get by Brown.
Mike White started ninth and made his way to third by lap eight and then took
second just two circuits later. White would hound Brown over the next three laps
before finally getting by on the outside to lead lap fourteen. White never
looked back as he raced to his first career Crate Modified victory.
Brown held off John Curtis for second with Curtis settling for third. Joseph
Watson took fourth while Casey Lynch posted his finish of the year with a fifth.
Hammond slipped to sixth after racing for the lead during the early part of the
race.
The Georgetown Speedway returns to action on Friday night June 15 featuring the
Big Block Modifieds. Crate Late Models and Crate Modifieds will also be on the
racing schedule. Gates will open at 5 pm, hot laps at 7 pm, and racing underway
at 7:40 pm. For more information, visit

Hendrickson Returns To The Georgetown Winners Circle
Georgetown, DE ….. (6/8/07) Wade Hendrickson of Lawrenceville, NJ led the final
twenty laps of the twenty-five lap Big Block Modified feature to score his third
win of the year at the Georgetown Speedway. Hendrickson held off a hard charging
Billy Pauch, beating him to the stripe by six car lengths. Other winners
included Ross Robinson of Georgetown, DE capturing his fifth Crate Late Model
feature of the year and Jordan Watson of Milford, DE taking home his third Crate
Modified victory.
Scott VanGorder led the seventeen Big Blocks to the green flag but Brian Godown
jumped to the outside from his third starting position in turn one to take the
top spot. VanGorder tucked in line but was quickly challenged by Hendrickson.
The only caution of the event slowed that battle when Jimmy Chester spun in
front of Judd Mills and Dale Hawkins on the third circuit. Hawkins was able to
return while Chester and Mills retired to the pits.
Brian Godown took the green flag to resume the action while Hendrickson looked
for ways around VanGorder. It didn’t take Hendrickson long as he shot to the
inside of VanGorder on lap four and then moved in to challenge for the lead.
Godown was up for the challenge for one lap but it would Hendrickson racing by
to lead the sixth lap.
Billy Pauch started the feature in fifth and quickly worked his way through the
field to challenge for the second spot. Pauch finally worked by the speedy
Godown on the ninth lap, leaving Godown to battle with the ninth place starter
Kenny Brightbill and tenth place starter Ryan Godown. Both tag teamed Brian on
the fifteenth lap with Ryan taking third and Brightbill fourth.
Hendrickson held a straight away advantage at one point but Pauch could only get
to the rear bumper in the final five laps. Hendrickson was up to the challenge
and held on for the six car length victory while driving the Art Collins
Trucking sponsored Teo Fab car.
“Man I love this place,” proclaimed race winner Hendrickson in victory lane.
Hendrickson added, “my guys have this car dialed in here and I can’t thank them
enough. The track was different tonight, a little slicked over, but it sure was
racy.”
Pauch easily took second while Ryan Godown held on for third. Brightbill held
off the challenges of Jamie Mills to take fourth while Mills rounded out the top
five. Brian Godown took sixth while VanGorder, Brian Kressley, Mark Byram, and
Chad James rounded out the top ten. Heats were won by Pauch and Ryan Godown.
Travis Justice led the twenty car Crate Late Model field to begin the twenty lap
feature event. An accident on the initial lap was just one of three cautions
that fell in the event and Justice got a second opportunity for a better start.
The green flag fell a second time and Justice raced into one with Ryan Walls
working on the rear bumper.
Walls worked by and appeared to be on his way to victory after opening up a
comfortable margin. A caution on lap eight is not what Walls was looking for as
tenth place starter and three time race winner Ross Robinson had moved to
second.
When the green fell
again, Walls led the next two circuits but the Grotto's Pizza entry for Robinson
was just too much as he worked to the inside to take away the lead. Robinson
never looked back as he won his fifth Crate Late Model feature of the year.
Walls settled for second place in the event. Justice held off the many
challenges of Jon Callaway to take third while Callaway ran fourth. Mike Parsons
posted his best finish of the year with a fifth. Heats were won by Eddie Corbin
and Bobby Watkins.
The Crate Modifieds started the race with sixteen of the eighteen entries taking
the green flag. Six cautions over the first eight laps eliminated all but nine
cars and made for a great race over the final twelve laps.
Jordan Watson led through the caution filled period of the event but gave way to
Tim Trimble on lap eight. Trimble settled down in front for a lap but Watson was
not ready to relinquish the lead. The two had a comfortable advantage over the
rest of the field as they battled for the lead. Watson led the tenth lap and
never looked back, despite the efforts of Trimble. Watson collected his third
win of the year while Trimble took second, his seventh top five finish of the
year.
Justin Griffith took third place honors with Jerry Carter taking fourth. Randy
Hill crossed the stripe in fifth but came up light at the scales, handing the
fifth position to John Curtis. Trimble and Watson won the qualifying heat races.
The Georgetown Speedway returns to action on Friday night June 15 with the Super
Late Models, Crate Modifieds, and Crate Late Models. Gates will open at 5 pm
with hot laps scheduled to get underway at 7 pm. Qualifying heats will begin to
set the feature line-ups at 7:35. For more information, visit

Smith & Michael Enter Georgetown’s Winners Circle
Georgetown, DE ….. GR Smith of Huntersville, NC became the fourth different
winner in four Super Late Model features at the Georgetown Speedway in
Georgetown, DE on Friday night. Smith, in just his second appearance at the
First State speed plant, held off a couple of former Modified hot shoes in Billy
Decker and Ricky Elliot to secure the victory.
Curt Michael beat a thin field of ten cars in the 360 Sprint Car feature to
claim his first Georgetown victory. Tim Trimble of Easton, MD won the 20 lap
Crate Modified feature to notch his first victory of the year. Ross Robinson of
Georgetown collected his fourth Crate Late Model 20 lap feature win of the year.
It took three attempts but Jamie Lathroum led the twenty car field of Super Late
Models to the green flag to begin the 25 lap main event. GR Smith wasted little
time and took the lead in turn one, leaving Lathroum behind to battle with Kenny
Pettyjohn.
Smith led through several caution periods as the twenty car field began to thin.
Contenders Tim Fuller, Billy Decker, and Ricky Elliot all were involved in early
altercations but returned to challenge for the victory.
Fuller was the first to try and pick apart Smith, moving in to challenge by lap
nine. Fuller tried on several occasions to pull alongside Smith’s Premier
Motorsports/Outlaw sponsored ride but rear end troubles would send Fuller to the
pits early and end his threat.
Billy Decker, the teammate of Fuller, picked up the pursuit but failed to draw
close enough to steal the victory. Decker had to settle for second after holding
off the many challenges from Seaford, DE’s Ricky Elliot. Kenny Pettyjohn and
David Pettyjohn rounded out the top five in a feature that saw just thirteen of
the original twenty starters finished.
Gary Gollub has logged many laps at the Georgetown Speedway over the years and
started the 25 lap 360 Sprint Car feature from the point. Gollub led the first
eight laps but Curt Michael, piloting the Palladino Motorsports number 99, blew
by for the lead on the ninth circuit.
Michael opened up a straightaway advantage while Chris Coyle worked up from his
sixth starting position. Coyle finally got by Gollub and set sail on chasing
down Michael. With the fans on their feet, Coyle got within two car lengths but
ran out of time and settled for second. Gollub held on for third. Scott Pursell
and Justin Collette completed the top five.
Joseph Watson had his hands full with Tim Trimble, Justin Griffith, and Mike
White in the 20 lap Crate Modified feature. Watson’s lead was short lived as
Trimble won both the battle and the war as he took the lead after two laps and
raced to his first win of the year. Trimble, from Easton, MD, held off Justin
Griffith after he slipped by Joseph Watson. Jordan Watson moved from thirteenth
to finish third as he edged Jeff Brown, who posted his best finish of the year
with a fourth place showing. Joseph Watson held on to round out the top five
after late race struggles.
Kelly Putz led 19 of the 20 laps in the Crate Late Model feature but failed to
lead the most important one, the final lap. Ross Robinson snuck to the inside of
Putz after taking the white flag and slipped up in front of the leader to race
to his fourth win of the year. Putz had to settle for a disappointing second.
Ryan Walls crossed the line third but post race inspection found his ride to be
light, handing Mike Wharton the third spot. Mike Wilson and Bobby Watkins
rounded out the top five in a race slowed by five cautions.
The Georgetown Speedway returns to action on Friday night June 8 with Big Block
Modifieds. Crate Late Models and Crate Modifieds will also be on the racing
schedule. Gates will open at 5 pm, hot laps at 7 pm, and racing underway at 7:40
pm. For more information, visit

Godown Finally Gets Trip To Georgetown Winners Circle
Georgetown, DE ….. Ryan Godown of Ringoes, NJ has always run well at the
Georgetown Speedway but has never been able to make the elusive trip to victory
lane. That all changed on Friday night as Godown drove the Stanton Hills
Landscaping mount to an exciting two car length victory over Billy Pauch.
Ross Robinson finally returned to the winners circle after claiming the Crate
Late Model 20 lap main event. Jerry Carter was in front when the caution and
checkered waved together to end the caution plagued and shortened 10 lap Crate
Modified main.
Ryan Godown started the 25 lap Big Block Modified main from third place but
quickly jumped on top of the seventeen car field. Dale Hawkins gave chase over
the first four laps before tenth place starter and two time winner Wade
Hendrickson and ninth place starter Pauch moved in to challenge.
The second place battle between Pauch and Hendrickson allowed Godown to open a
substantial lead but three early cautions over then first nine laps kept them
close. When racing resumed on lap ten Godown was leading Pauch, Hendrickson,
Judd Mills, Scott VanGorter, and sixteenth place starter Kenny Brightbill.
Pauch and Hendrickson resumed their battle while Godown opened up a twelve car
length advantage. The race stayed green and Pauch closed in over the closing
laps as the leaders began to work lapped traffic. Godown ran up on two cars
racing door to door in turn three while heading to the white flag and Pauch on
the rear bumper. Godown decided to “thread the needle” and split the two in turn
three.
That move proved to be essential as Godown left turn four with a four car length
advantage and raced away to his first win at Georgetown. Pauch claimed second
while Hendrickson held on for a third place finish. Brightbill returned from
mechanical problems that kept him from competing in a heat race to take fourth.
Chad James rounded out the top five.
“We really like this race track so it feels good to finally get a win here after
so many tries,” commented a jubilant Godown during the post race interview.
Godown raced at Georgetown in 2006 on six occasions posting three seconds and
three thirds. In two previous races in 2007, Godown has a second and a
seventeenth. Now he can add a win to his record after Friday night’s impressive
run. Godown and Judd Mills won the qualifying heat races.
Mike Wilson led the seventeen car Crate Late Model field to the green flag and
managed to lead the first lap. But it was all Ross Robinson and the Grottoes
Pizza number seven after that as he raced to his third win of the year. Wilson
held off Herb Tunis for the runner-up honors. Mike Wharton worked forward from
his tenth place starting position to take fourth. Kelly Putz followed Wharton
from eleventh to round out the top five.
Heat races were won by Tyler Reed and Wharton.
Five caution periods over the first ten laps would signal the early end to the
Crate Modified feature event. The final caution, brought out by Justin Griffith
and his spin off the banking in turn two, came as Jerry Carter, Joseph Watson,
Mike White, Adam Jarrell, and Tom Curtis were all battling for the lead.
Carter led the twenty-on car field to the green and led the first two circuits
before giving way to Joseph Watson. Watson fended off several challenges from
Carter over the next five laps but could only watch as Carter drifted back in
front to lead lap nine. White was knocking on the door of both lead cars with
Jarrell and Curtis just waiting for something to happen.
Well that something did happen when Griffith went spinning and the decision was
made to call the event after ten laps. Carter was credited with the victory
while Watson and White protested the finish. Watson was officially awarded
second place while White took third place honors. Jarrell and Curtis rounded out
the top five in the running order. John Wynn and Jordan Watson won the heat
racing events.
The Georgetown Speedway returns to action on Friday night June 1 with 360 Sprint
cars and Super Late Models. Crate Late Models and Crate Modifieds will also be
on the racing schedule. Gates will open at 5 pm, hot laps at 7 pm, and racing
underway at 7:40 pm. For more information, visit

Elliot Slips By Pettyjohn For Georgetown Victory
Georgetown, DE ….. Ricky Elliot of Seaford, DE led the final one and a quarter
laps of the 25 lap Super Late Model feature on Friday night at the Georgetown
Speedway to claim his first victory of the year at the First State oval.
Elliot’s win came at the expense of Milton’s Kenny Pettyjohn, who had to settle
for a second place finish.
Eric Vent captured his first career Crate Late Model feature event while Jordan
Watson took top honors in the Crate Modified. The Georgetown Vintage Club
wrapped up the racing action with CJ Schirmer posting the Modified victory and
Herbie Hobbs getting his second Sportsman win of the year.
Dale Lingo led bristling field of Super Late Models to the green flag to begin
Friday nights 25 lap feature event but it was Kenny Pettyjohn taking over the
top spot by the time the cars reached the first turn. Pettyjohn set sail on a
blistering pace leaving Lingo to battle with Donald Lingo Jr. and David
Pettyjohn.
Three cautions slowed the field over the first nine laps but Kenny Pettyjohn was
able to open up a big advantage each time the green flag waived. Donald Lingo
was busy chasing Pettyjohn but he had his hands full with tenth starting Ricky
Elliot by the time the cars went green on lap nine.
Elliot wasted little time getting by Lingo as he moved into the runner-up spot
after ten circuits. A caution on lap twelve gave Elliot his first shot at the
leader but Pettyjohn was still much too strong at the half-way mark.
Fans were drawn to their feet when Ray Kable slowed the field at the twenty lap
mark with a spin, setting up what should have been a five lap shoot-out. When
the race went back green Elliot tried in vane to work by Pettyjohn, pulling
alongside on several occasions. A final caution on lap twenty-three for Rob
Schirmer would set up a two lap battle that would be waged in a traffic free
zone.
With the fans on their feet, Pettyjohn led Elliot into turn one of the fast
5/8ths mile oval. Pettyjohn and the Mid-Coastal Siding machine kept the Charles
Jarvis owned Rocket driven by Elliot at bay off turn two. The two raced down the
backstretch and Elliot drove deep into the corner to take the low line from
Pettyjohn. As the two raced off turn four Elliot drifted in front of Pettyjohn
and raced away to the three car length victory.
Pettyjohn settled for second with Donald Lingo Jr. putting the Alex Beumont
owned 22a in the third spot. Jamie Lathroum worked up from his eighth starting
position to take fourth while Scott Cross rounded out the top five after
starting fourteenth.
Dale Lingo, Mike Williams, Ross Robinson, Schirmer, and Bob Geiger completed the
top ten. Heat races were won by Donald Lingo Jr. and Elliot.
Eric Vent started on the pole and never looked back as he led the seventeen car
Crate Late Model field to victory. Vent survived the four caution periods in a
race in which he was virtually unchallenged on his way to recording his first
career victory in the division.
Kelly Putz, Ryan Walls, and Mike Wilson were staging a great battle for second
throughout much of the race but Walls would pit after thirteen circuits with
mechanical issues. This left Putz and Wilson to battle it out with Putz holding
on for the runner-up spot and his best finish of the year. Wilson took third
with Ed Corbin collecting fourth. Dan Fiedler rounded out the top five in a 20
lap feature that saw only the top seven cars finish the race. Mike Wharton and
Travis Justice were the two other survivors of the race. Heat were won by Putz
and Walls.
Jordan Watson led his brother Joseph Watson, Tom Curtis, Mike White, and the
rest of the twenty-one Crate Modifieds to the green flag. Jordan Watson kept
everyone at bay as the Milford, DE resident kept his Courtland Manor sponsored
Bicknell in front for the entire 20 lap event.
Mike White and Joseph Watson spent the entire 20 lap feature fighting with Brian
Robbins while Tim Trimble and Curtis tried to join in on the second place
battle. With the victory within the grips of Jordan Watson Mike White was left
to settle for second as he just did beat Joseph Watson back to the stripe.
Joseph Watson, the third place finisher, would come up light at the scales
during post race inspection, thus handing third to Robbins. Trimble managed to
place fourth while Curtis settled for fifth. Heats were won by White and Andy
Hammond.
The Georgetown Speedway returns to action on Friday, May 25 with Big Block
Modifieds, Crate Late Models, and Crate Modifieds. Wade Hendrickson will be
going for three consecutive victories in Big Block action. Gates open at 5 pm,
hot laps at 7, and racing underway at 7:35. General admission is just $12 with

will join the Super Late Models on the racing schedule for their next event on

that were not even on hand,” commented Brown. He went on to add that “Sprint car
teams have requested the opportunity to race on two consecutive nights when
making the long trip south and we are happy to give them and our fans this
opportunity.”
Chris Coyle won the first sprint car race of the year at the Georgetown Speedway
on May 11. Coyle will return to defend his victory but early race leader and

Coyle & Hendrickson End Up With Victories At Georgetown
Georgetown, DE ….. Chris Coyle of Wilmington, DE and Wade Hendrickson of
Lawrenceville, NJ won their respective features on Friday night at the
Georgetown Speedway after race leaders fell out due to an accident due to lapped
traffic or flat tires.
Coyle took home top honors in the 25 lap 360 Sprint Car main while Hendrickson
scored his second 25 lap Big Block Modified victory in as many attempts.
In other action, Chris Hitchens of Milton, DE won his first career Crate
Modified feature while Joe Callaway, also from Delaware, finally reached the
Crate Late Model winners circle. Pat McNeal put the Flyin’ Elvin Double Zero on
top of the final run down for the Little Lincoln Vintage Cars.
Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy, PA and Middletown, DE’s Justin Collett led the
eight rows of 360 sprints to the initial green flag to begin the 25 lap main.
Lewis quickly jumped on top and put some distance between himself and Collett,
who was busy fighting off Kurt Michael.
Michael would give way to Chris Coyle for third after eleven circuits while
Collett closed in on Lewis. The two leaders worked slower traffic to perfection
but would run into trouble when they closed in on Jeff Busby and Michael
Higgenbottom. The two back markers were racing for position and almost made
contact in turn one of the seventeenth lap. The two leaders had to back off and
spun to avoid making contact. Lewis was able to rejoin the field at tail but
Collett ended up breaking the left front suspension.
This handled the lead to Coyle, who only had to contend with a few challenges
from Davey Sammons to claim the victory.
“Man this place was fast and everything went our way tonight,” claimed Coyle as
he climbed from his Millmar Racing number 83. He went on to add, “People thought
I was crazy for going back to my own team this year but we have got two (wins)
already this year.”
Sammons tried valiantly on several occasions over the final seven laps but came
up short in the end by six car lengths. Michael settled for a distant third
while Scott Pursell raced to a fourth place showing. Brook Weibley advanced
three spots from her starting position to take fifth.
Early race leader Trevor Lewis eventually dropped out with some additional
mechanical problems with two laps remaining and settled for eighth. Heat races
went to Lewis and Collett.
Ryan Godown of Ringoes, NJ led the nineteen car Big Block Modified field to the
green flag with Chuck Tucker, Jamie Mills, Judd Mills, and Billy Pauch in tow.
Pauch was already to second by the end of lap one and began to work on Godown.
That battle would be short lived though as Godown slowed on the speedway with
mechanical issues while working the fifth lap to bring out the yellow.
Pauch took over the top spot and was busy holding off the challenges of Jamie
Mills and Mark Byram while Wade Hendrickson worked up from his tenth starting
position. A second caution would slow the field on lap eleven that saw third
place contestant Byram head to the pits with a flat.
The field went back to green but Robert Dutton spun off turn two after making
contact with Dale Hawkins just one lap later. The third caution would prove
costly for race leader Pauch as Hendrickson pulled alongside the New Jersey
native to alert him of a flat left rear.
Pauch hit the pits and Hendrickson became the race leader with Jamie Mills,
Kenny Brightbill, Chad James, and Judd Mills trailing. Two more cautions would
slow the field through the end of the 25 lap feature but in the end it would be
all Hendrickson as he put the Art Collins Trucking Teo machine back in victory
lane.
“My hats off to Lou Johnson tonight because this track was so fast and smooth,
you would never know that his mind and all of our prayers are with his wife
right now,” said Hendrickson as he spoke of the surface in the post race
interview.
Jamie Mills held off a hard charging Richie Pratt for second while the twelfth
starting Pratt took third. Pauch battled back from the flat and involvement in
one caution to steal fourth from Brightbill. Brightbill took fifth place honors.
James, Byram, Mills, Hawkins, and Ricky Johnson completed the top ten. Heats
were won by James and Jamie Mills.
Tim Trimble of Easton, Maryland looked as if he would have enough to win the 20
lap Crate Modified feature event. But in the end it would be Chris Hitchens
bringing home his first career victory. Hitchens, driving the H&H Maintenance/Copps
Seafood Troyer, slid by Trimble on the ninth lap and walked away to the
impressive victory. Trimble held off Tom Curtis to take second while John Wynn
posted his best finish if the year with a fourth place showing. Jordan Watson
worked up from his tenth starting position to round out the top five. Hitchens
and Jordan Watson won the two qualifying heats.
Two time feature winner Ross Robinson started the 20 lap Crate Late Model race
in sixth but would be the leader by the end of the first lap. Robinson appeared
to be well on his way to number three when something broke in the rear end and
sent the leader spinning after seven laps. This gave the lead to Herb Tunis with
Bobby Watkins and Jon Calloway in pursuit.
Only one caution flag slowed the Crate Late Model feature over the final ten
laps and the racing between Tunis, Watkins, and Calloway kept fans on their
feet. Tunis kept his car on the bottom but slipped up just a bit in turn four in
an effort to keep Watkins at bay while working the eighteenth lap. That opening
was just enough as Calloway squeezed by to take the lead with just two circuits
left. Tunis was helpless as he watched Calloway race away to the victory. Tunis
managed to keep Watkins behind him as the two finished second and third
respectively. Ryan Walls and Mike Wilson worked from the back of the pack to
round out the top five. Heat wins were collected by Walls and Robinson.
The Georgetown Speedway is back in action on Friday, May 18 with Super Late
Models headlining the program. Crate Late Models and Crate Modifieds will also
be on the three feature program that gets underway with qualifying heats at 7:35
pm. For more information about the Georgetown Speedway visit the website at

Fuller Scores First Career Super Late Win At Georgetown
Georgetown, DE ….. Tim Fuller of Watertown, NY made his first appearance ever at
the Georgetown Speedway a memorable one on Friday night as he scored his first
career Super Late Model victory. Fuller held off the late challenges from
Seaford’s Ricky Elliot to cruise to a fifteen car length victory.
Jordan Watson led flag to flag in the Crate Modified race to register his first
win of the year. In the nightcap, Ryan Walls recorded his first ever Crate Late
Model victory on Friday night after holding off Bobby Watkins.
David Pettyjohn of Milton, DE led twenty-two Super Late Models to the green flag
to begin the 25 lap main event. The caution quickly waved by the time the cars
reached turn one as Mike Williams took a ride off over the berm. A complete
restart was set and the field made it to turn four before the yellow would wave
for the second time.
This caution involved eight cars and eliminated locals Dale Lingo IV and Kenny
Pettyjohn as well as visitors Jeremy Miller and Jason Covert. The third attempt
was the charm as David Pettyjohn led the field back to green. Tim Fuller got a
good jump and took only one lap before disposing of Pettyjohn and taking over
the top spot.
Fuller, clearly the class of the field, would only feel some heat after the
sixth and final caution bunched the field after nineteen laps. Fuller led Ricky
Elliot and his teammate Billy Decker back to the final green and held off two
hard attempts from Elliot before posting the memorable victory.
“This place was so fat fast and I was wondering when my first one (win) would
come in these cars,” remarked a jubilant Fuller in victory lane. Fuller conclude
by telling the fans, “This is my first time here in a Late Model or Modified and
I will definitely be back.”
Ricky Elliot worked by GR Smith and David Pettyjohn with an inside sweep in turn
four to take second on lap eleven. Elliot was able to pull alongside Fuller one
time after the late caution but had to settle for the runner-up spot. Decker
used up his equipment coming from the rear as he kept the fans on their feet
watching his march forward to finish third. David Pettyjohn held off first time
visitor GR Smith over the final two laps as the two rounded out the top five.
Rob Schirmer continued his impressive season as he posted a sixth place finish
after starting sixteenth. Mark Pettyjohn worked by Darryl Hills with just three
laps left to seventh. Hills was an early challenger for the lead but slipped
back to eighth as the race wore on. Scott Cross started second but brought out
the sixth caution with a spin and settled for ninth. Mark Elksnis was also
involved in some early altercations but still managed to round out the top ten.
Heats were won by Dale Lingo and Kenny Pettyjohn.
The Crate Modified and Crate Late Model features are scheduled for twenty laps
or thirty minutes and there had to have been a full moon somewhere on Friday
night. Both division features were cut short due to the time limit as several
cautions slowed each event.
Jordan Watson got a good start and survived eight caution periods over the first
nine laps to post his first win of the year. Justin Griffith tried to work by
the ReMax machine but had to settle for second place. Jordan’s brother Joseph
won the Crate Modified feature two weeks ago and worked his way to the front
from tenth to take a third place finish. Easton, MD’s Tim Trimble started
thirteenth and was running fourth when the checkers dropped after just nine
circuits, leaving him to wonder where he would have finished had the race gone
the distance. One time race winner Andy Hammond rounded out the top five. Heats
went to Joseph Watson and Justin Griffith.
The Crate Late Model race lasted fourteen laps before the checkers flew over top
of Ryan Walls. Eddie Williams led the twenty-five car field to the green flag
and held onto the top spot for two laps before Walls squeezed by for the lead.
Williams gave chase for a few laps before Bobby Watkins took over the runner-up
spot and the right to challenge. Watkins had nothing for the eventual winner and
could only watch as Ryan Walls posted his first career Crate Late Model victory.
Mike Wharton started eleventh and worked his way up to third before the seventh
and final caution slowed the field. Ross Robinson, winner of both Crate Late
Model events in 2007, worked from his tenth starting point to take fourth while
Kevin Scott Jr. rounded out the top five. Heat victories went to Stacie
Warrington and Robinson.
The Georgetown Speedway returns to action on Friday, May 11 with the 360 Sprint
Cars joining the Big Block Modifieds to headline the five race program. Crate
Modifieds, Crate Late Models, and the Vintage Cars will join the racing card
that gets started with hot laps at 7 pm. Heat races will begin at 7:35. For more

2006 MACS Champ Jason Covert to Race at Georgetown Friday May 4
Georgetown, DE ….. Barry Klinedinst Motorsports and 2006 Mid-Atlantic
Championship Series (MACS) Champion Jason Covert have made plans to race at the
Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, Delaware on Friday night. The Super Late
Model standout will join a host of others as they headline the racing action at
the speedway on Friday night. Gates will open at 5 pm, hot laps get underway at
7 pm, with racing set to follow at 7:35 pm.
Covert is in his second year driving the Pre-Mach, Inc./Red Wing Shoes/Hershey’s
Racing Engines/Baker Carburetion/Bam’s Auto Center/Kuppy’s Diner/Rocket Chassis
Monte Carlo for Barry Klinedinst Motorsports. The duo enjoyed great success in
their first year together as they racked up five wins along with the
Mid-Atlantic Championship Series title over veterans Mike Balzano and Jim
Bernheisel.
Covert, from York Haven, Pa enters the Super Late Model event at Georgetown
fresh of a third place finish in last Saturday’s Lucas Oil Series race at
Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland. It was the teams second third place finish in
as many appearances at Hagerstown this year. The team has recorded one victory
this year in Super Late Model competition with that win coming in the March 31
event at the historic Williams Grove Speedway in Pennsylvania.
“We have been looking forward to getting over to Georgetown and this weekend
works out great for us, said an excited Jason Covert. He went on to add, “I have
heard so much about that place and how fast it is so we are really looking
forward to racing there as long as everything stays together Thursday night.”
Covert will have hands full when he pulls into the First State speed plant on
Friday night. Kenny Pettyjohn of Millsboro, DE collected the first Super Late
Model victory of the year and he will surely be a contender again this Friday
night. Add fellow regulars Mark Pettyjohn, David Pettyjohn, Rob Schirmer, and
Donald Lingo Jr and you have the top five finishers from opening night. Do not
discount the competition from Hamburg, PA’s Scott Haus, Centreville, MD’s Scott
Cross or Southern Maryland’s David Williams as all of the above mentioned
drivers have registered victories and/or championships at some point in their
careers.
Racers competing at the Georgetown Speedway are reminded that they must run an
American Racer 44 or a Hoosier 1300 or D15 on the right rear only. All cars must
be equipped with a working RaceCeiver.
Georgetown Speedway, a ½ mile dirt oval track, is located on U.S. Route 113,

Georgetown Sprint Car Show Moved To Friday, May 11
Georgetown, DE ….. It has been fifteen long years since Sprint Cars have raced
at the Georgetown Speedway. Fans got a glimpse of a few cars making laps in 2006
and now they will be treated to an all out invasion. Speedway General Manager
David Brown just announced that the Sprint Car show originally scheduled for
Wednesday, May 9 has been moved to form an incredible four feature program on
Friday night May 11.
The 360 Sprints will join the Big Block Modifieds (25 laps), Crate Late Models
(20 laps), and Crate Modifieds (20 laps). Gates will open at 5 pm, hot laps at 7
pm, and racing underway at 7:35 pm.
“We took several calls from owners and drivers asking us to race on Friday night
due to the cost of gas and travel in general,” commented speedway General
Manager David Brown. Brown went on to conclude, “It really made perfect sense
and in turn should help draw in some additional race teams that may not have
been able to make the trip.”
Kevin Welsh is expected to contend with the likes of fellow New Jersey and
Pennsylvania drivers Davey Sammons, Michael Carber, Gary Gollub, Bryan Seidel,
Tim Hougue, Craig Folmer, Lucas Wolfe, Chad Layton, and Brook Weibley. The
invasion may be coming from the North but the local sprint car talent is just as
competitive. Look for the local Delaware contingent of Ocean View’s Curt
Michael, Wilmington’s Chris Coyle, Middletown’s Justin Collett, and Salisbury
Maryland’s Bryan Brittingham to defend Georgetown’s victory lane.
The unsanctioned event will follow the United Racing Club (URC) and ASCS car,
wing, safety, and motor rules. All cars must have a muffler and be equipped with
an American Racer MC2 or ASCS’s 16 inch wide Hoosier on the right side.
Georgetown Speedway, a ½ mile dirt oval track, is located on U.S. Route 113,
just 35 miles south of Dover, DE. The speedway is just a short 45 minute drive

Rain Forces Georgetown Speedway To Cancel
Georgetown, DE ….. Rain and dirt do not mix, especially when the rain falls in

Racing will resume on Friday, May 4 with the Super Late Models leading the
charge. The Crate Late Models and Crate Modifieds will join the Super Lates for

Kenny Pettyjohn Takes New Ride To The Winners Circle at Georgetown
Georgetown DE ….. Kenny Pettyjohn led all twenty-five laps of the Super Late
Model main on Friday night at the Georgetown Speedway to claim his first win of
the year. Pettyjohn, driving for the Mid-Coastal Siding Racing Team alongside
Anthony Rushing, gave the team their first Georgetown Speedway victory. Other
action saw Ross Robinson take his second consecutive Crate Late Model victory
while Joe Watson stole the Crate Modified win from Brad Trice.
Kenny Pettyjohn and Mark Pettyjohn led the twenty-two car field of Super Late
Models to the green flag. The two quickly assumed control of the event while
Scott Haus took up pursuit from his sixth starting position. Neither Mark
Pettyjohn nor Haus had anything for the flying eleven as Kenny Pettyjohn opened
up half straight away leads in between caution flags.
With the leaders in control fans began to focus on some drivers that started
further back in the pack. Scott Cross and Mike Williams, starting eighteenth and
twentieth respectively, had their work cut out for them. They patiently worked
through the slower traffic over the first ten laps, finally cracking the top
ten.
Trouble on the Haus machine would slow the field on the fifteenth circuit as the
third place driver slowed on the backstretch. Kenny Pettyjohn now had ten laps
to hold off the challenges from Mark Pettyjohn, new challenger David Pettyjohn,
Donald Lingo Jr., Dale Lingo, and Mike Williams. A caution just one lap later
sent Williams and Donald Lingo to the rear and put Ralph Schirmer and Scott
Cross in position to battle for the win.
When the final green flag dropped Kenny Pettyjohn never looked back as he raced
away to a very comfortable victory. Mark Pettyjohn held off fellow kin David
Pettyjohn as the three held a Pettyjohn “family reunion” of sorts at the top of
the finishing order. Ralph Schirmer was impressive over the final five laps as
he took fourth with Donald Lingo Jr. rebounding in the Alex Beumont owned ride
to round out the top five.
In victory lane Pettyjohn said, “I think this is the fastest I have ever been
here, almost able to hold her open all the way around and that is saying
something.”
David Williams snuck by Scott Cross on the final corner to take sixth with Cross
settling for seventh. Williams, Dale Lingo, and GG Messick completed the top
ten. Heat race victories went to Kenny Pettyjohn and Mark Pettyjohn.
Mike Wilson led the nineteen Crate Late Models to the green flag and was able to
hold off early challenges from Tyler Reed and Dennis Fiedler. Wilson looked so
strong that it appeared as if he might be heading for the winners circle until
four cautions that fell between laps eight and ten bunched the field together.
A ten lap dash to the finish ensued with Wilson in front of tenth place starter
Ross Robinson, Bobby Watkins, and Joe Warren. Wilson got a good jump on the
restart but it didn’t but three laps before Robinson pushed the Grotto Pizza
number seven by for the lead. Robinson never looked back while Wilson eventually
pulled off the speedway due to mechanical issues.
Robinson collected his second consecutive victory while Watkins had to settle
for his second consecutive runner-up finish. Warren took third place honors in
his first run of the year. Ed Corbin rebounded from several incidents to take
fourth with Staci Warrington posting an impressive fifth place finish. Heats
were won by Wilson and Mark Williams.
Tim Trimble pulled the pole after heat races and earned the right to start in
front of Casey Lynch and Brad Trice. When the green flag fell on the twenty-two
starters Trimble was helpless as the Easton, Maryland barber watched Trice blow
by and take command of the field. Trimble ducked in line and began to battle
with Chris Hitchens and Mike White for second.
Two cautions would slow the field at the ten lap mark, including one that
involved six cars in turn one. The tenth lap six car crash sent sixth place
driver and hard charging Jordan Watson to the pits to repair a flat.
When the action resumed Trice had Joe Watson, Trimble, White, and Jerry Corbin
Jr. in tow. Trice had his hands full with the ReMax ride of Watson as the two
sliced and diced around the fast Free State speedway. Watson repeatedly tried
the low line and was never successful until the two entered the final corner on
the final lap.
Trice drifted just a tad high and Watson put his ride on the bottom and swept up
in front of Trice to steal the victory. Trice had to lift momentarily to keep
from taking out Watson and settled for second. Trimble took third while Justin
Griffith battled from his eighth starting position to take fourth. White held on
for a fifth place showing. Heats were won by Griffith and Trice.
The Georgetown Vintage Race Car Club made a special appearance on Friday night
to close out the racing action. Sonny Ritter won the Modified class in his 1937
Ford Sedan while Herbie Hobbs won the Sportsman group in his 1937 Dodge.
The Georgetown Speedway returns to action on Friday, April 28 with the Big Block
Modifieds headlining the three race program. Crate Modifieds and Crate Late
Models will join the racing card that gets started with hot laps at 7 pm. Heat

admitted free with a paying adult. Gates will open at 5 pm with hot laps
underway at 7 pm. The first green flag of the night drops at 7:35.
Donald Lingo Jr. of Millsboro is expected to be a force in Super Late Model
ranks now that he has replaced Scott Cross as the driver of the 22a car owned by
Alex Beumont. Lingo is expected to be joined by fellow Delaware natives such as
Dale Lingo, Kenny Pettyjohn, Rob Schirmer, Mark Pettyjohn, David Pettyjohn and
many others.
Scott Haus of Hamburg, PA is expected to be an “outside” challenger when the
green flag drops on the Super Late Model season on Friday night. Haus will be on
a list of invaders that is expected to include Marylanders David Hill, Ray Kable
Jr., Darryl Hills, and Jerry Foster.
“We are excited about the Super Late Models coming to town on Friday because you
never know who will and who won’t show-up until the races begin,” remarked
General Manager David Brown. Brown went on to add, “the Super Late Models
produced some of the best races last year and the fans have made it known that
they want to see this division at Georgetown.”
Racers competing at the Georgetown Speedway are reminded that they must run an
American Racer 44 or a Hoosier 1300 or D15 on the right rear only. All cars must

Hendrickson Powers To Georgetown Victory
Georgetown DE ….. Wade Hendrickson of Lawrenceville, NJ led the final seven
circuits of the 25 lap Big Block Modified feature on Friday night to win the
season opening event at the Georgetown Speedway. Hendrickson worked his way up
from the fifth starting position and beat fellow New Jersey resident Ryan Godown
to the stripe. Ross Robinson led green to checker to win the 15 lap Crate Late
Model feature. Andy Hammond took home top honors in the 15 lap Crate Modified
main event.
Chad James of Laurel, DE led the twenty-one car Big Block Modified field to the
initial green flag. James would get a second opportunity after seven cars got
together in turn three to slow the start. Ricky Johnson and Sam Wescott Jr. were
roll-over victims in the crash that also ended the night for Bobby Wilkins.
James would make the most of the second opportunity as he quickly opened up a
big margin over Judd Mills, Wade Hendrickson, and Ryan Godown. Richie Pratt was
running fifth but was feeling the heat from Billy Pauch and twenty-first place
starter Matt Shepherd.
The leaders started working lapped traffic by the twelfth circuit with James
being forced to move high. James moved so high on the fifteenth circuit that he
caught the rim of the speedway in turn three. James was able to hold onto the
lead but gave up a comfortable margin to a hard charging Hendrickson, who had
gotten by Mills just one lap prior.
Hendrickson made his move on James as the two entered turn three of the
seventeenth circuit. James slipped just a tad high giving Hendrickson enough
room to put the Art Collins Trucking Teo Fab car on the bottom. Hendrickson got
the desired bite and led by a half of a car length at the stripe. That margin
was important because Judd Mills broke while racing down the front stretch and
ended up over the banking in turn one to bring out the yellow.
A seven lap shoot-out to determine the victor was set with Hendrickson leading
Ryan Godown, James, Pratt, Shepherd, and Pauch. Hendrickson took the green and
powered away to a comfortable win over perennial Georgetown Speedway runner-up
Godown. Pratt managed to work by an ill handling James with five laps left to
take third with James settling back in fourth. Shepherd and Pauch staged a great
race to the finish with Shepherd holding on to complete the top five. Pauch,
Jimmy Chester, Robert Dutton, Chuck Tucker, and Mark Byram rounded out the top
ten.
Ross Robinson and Travis Justice led the twenty-two Crate Late Model field to
the green flag to begin their 15 lap main event. Robinson would survive several
cautions and the challenges from Justice and Jon Calloway to seal the victory.
Bobby Watkins worked his way up from the tenth starting position to take second
from Justice with just two laps remaining. Justice held of for third while Kelly
Putz took fourth place honors. Mike Wharton held off late challenges from Mike
Wilson to secure the fifth place finish.
Twenty-nine Crate Modifieds attempted to take one of the twenty-four positions
open for the 15 lap feature event. Mike White and Andy Hammond earned the right
to lead the field with Hammond quickly getting the jump.
It would be non-eventful for Hammond until late in the race when his handling
started to fade. Jordan Watson worked his way through the field from his sixth
starting spot to take second from Mike White after twelve laps but he did not
have enough time to challenge Hammond for the win. Hammond posted the convincing
victory over Watson. White faded after getting crossed up in turn four and
watched Tom Curtis and Joseph Watson race by to take third and fourth. White
managed to edge twenty-fourth place starter Tim Trimble for fifth.
The Georgetown Speedway returns to action on Friday night April 20 with the
Super Late Models, Crate Modifieds, and Crate Late Models. Gates will open at 5
pm with hot laps scheduled to get underway at 7 pm. Qualifying heats will begin
to set the feature line-ups at 7:35. For more information, visit

Sprint cars to return to Georgetown Speedway during 2007 racing season
The Georgetown Speedway located in Georgetown, DE has added 4 special sprint car
shows to their scheduled for the 2007 season. Fans were ready for the long
awaited return in 2006 but Mother Nature rained out a URC show scheduled for
last year.
The 4 dates for the sprint car return are Wednesday nights on May 9, July 4 and
August 29th with a Friday date of November 2nd also added to the schedule. The
360 sprint car will be joined by another class for those nights races and that
will be determined at a later date.
On a couple of occasions during 2006 the speedway had sprint teams come out
during intermission and turn some exciting laps around the huge half-mile oval.
Scott Purcell toured the oval in his sprint car for the first time but he did
compete in the modified division in the past. Brian Brittingham brought his
Salisbury, MD based sprinter to the track for his first laps in a winged machine
also in 2006.
The sprint races on those dates will follow the same rules that they currently
run on in Delaware when they visit.
“We have been asked when the sprint cars are coming back since the rainout last
year. I can’t tell you how many calls from fans and race teams we have had to
reschedule the winged warriors back at the track” says new general manager David
Brown. “We are just as excited about having these 4 dates as the fans and teams
are,” he continued.
The 2007 season at the 1ST State facility is full of exciting events with weekly
racing featuring the high powered modifieds, sleek, super late models as well as
the new crate modifieds and crate late models. The Little Lincoln cars also have
several dates as do the vintage cars.
Management is also looking at the possibility of a monster truck show, demo
derby and a few mud truck racing dates throughout the season. Details on these
shows will be announced as plans are finalized.

Georgetown Speedway opens 2007 season with tune & test on Saturday, March 31st
The long off-season and all of the rumors will be laid to rest when the gates
swing open for the 2007 racing season at Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown,
Delaware on Saturday night, March 31st.
The test session is open to all classes wanting to shake down their new cars,
check out new engine and chassis combinations or to give those many new racers
expected, a change to try out the ½ mile track for their rookie season.
Gates for the practice session will open at 4:00PM with the track open for
practice at 5:00pm.
When fans and race teams arrive at the speedway this season there will be a few
changes to the facility. The most notable will be in the fan parking area and
the pit entrance. The existing parking area has been blocked off and will not be
used as in years past. The new parking lot will be in the area off turn 4 and
the pit area to the left of where fans have always parked. This is a larger area
than in the past to handle the amount of fan vehicles we had last year. Many of
them were actually parked out on side streets and this will handle this problem.
There will also be a slightly new entrance to the pits then in past years. The
entrance road to the pits has been straightened once the teams turn off of the
stone road. This will allow a better entrance to the pits for teams with these
new larger rigs.
The official racing season will kick off the following Friday night, April 6th
with the super late models, crate modifieds and crate late models. Gates will
open at 5:00pm and warm-ups will begin at 7:00pm. The first green flag of the
season will wave at 7:30pm. The big block modifieds will make their first
appearance of the season on Friday April 13th and will also be joined by both of
the crate classes.

Georgetown Speedway has the green flag for 2007 dirt track racing season
Despite rumors that have been flying around for the past several weeks, the new
Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, Delaware will officially open the 2007 racing
season on Saturday night March 31, 2007 with a tune and test session with the
first points event scheduled the following Friday night April 6th.
The famed Delaware oval, which sat idle for years re-opened last year with one
of the greatest seasons in the tracks storied history. The great weekly racing
and huge crowds each Friday evening proved race fans were ready to see the gates
swing open once again.
The track will start out with the sleek, super late models on April 6th along
with the crate late models and the crate modified class. Each week there have
been reports of new cars being built for each class that will be calling
Georgetown Speedway home for 2007.
The following Friday night, April 13th, the high powered big block modifieds
will headline the week’s racing action and will be joined by the crates classes.
The two top classes, late models and modifieds will rotate each week throughout
the season, which is scheduled to run through early November. A full schedule
will be released in the near future.
“There have been many rumors that started the day the gates were closed
following the successful 2006 season and this should put all of those to rest.
We are excited about what this year will hold for the track. The response has
been tremendous!” says promoter Lou Johnson.
The super fast ½ mile oval located on Route 113 in Georgetown, DE is also
planning some additional mid week shows, which could include sprints, demo
derbies and some specialty events. The track has also had discussions with the
local mud truck racing organization about the possibility of holding a couple of
those events during the year.
The track is close to choosing a new concession stand vendor which will add new
items and food products to the menu to satisfy the hungry fan’s food and
beverage needs when they arrive after work each Friday night.
The latest announcement out of the lightning fast facility is a Sunday night
rain date for all Friday night shows. “We experienced a bunch of rainouts last
year and we want to make sure we give our fans as many nights of racing as
possible in 2007,” says Johnson
Race fans can check out the track’s website at
www.georgetownspeedway.com
or call the track hotline at 302-856-7415 for more information and a complete
