Walls, Ryan and Nowak Soak up Season First Mountain Madness Enduro Wins
By: Gene Ostrowski
St. Johns, PA- Sixty-eight well prepared race cars and trucks turned out for
enduro competition on a heavily rain soaked track Sunday at Mountain Speedway
with the third round of the Mountain Madness Enduro Series, presented by ABC Car
Crushing and Auto Parts of Hunlock Creek, PA. Persistent rain showers kept the
track surface damp throughout the day and Jeff Walls, Sam Ryan and Kevin Nowak
found the fast way to victory at the 1/3-mile oval.
Angelo Spezialetti brought the 6/8-cylinder field to the drop of the green for
the 100-lap event. Upon taking the green, Joe Jentile slapped the front stretch
wall on the rain soaked track, yet managed to take the lead. Only five laps
later, Jeff Walls overtook Jentile in his front wheel drive vehicle and began to
lap his competition.
The first of three red flags was thrown on lap twenty-one when John Bittoni, Jr.
lost a wheel on the backstretch. At that point in the event, Harry Sager held
second, followed by Mark Spencer, Jentile and Bobby Coco.
The top four remained the same at the halfway point in the race and Kevin Nowak
moved into fifth, while driving the lone Chevy Blazer in the field.
When lap seventy-two came around, Walls found himself on a lap of his own, as he
passed Sager. Trouble found Sager two laps later, when he and Joe Helberg
collected in turns one and two. Sager was done for the afternoon.
Despite being spun out with a handful of laps remaining, Walls held on for his
first victory of the season over Jentile, Nowak, Spencer and Phil Lamonaco.
Pete Verwys, Jr. led the four-cylinder field out of turn four and to the drop of
the green in the 100-lap enduro. Mark Foreman started in the middle of the front
row and immediately too command of the event. Sam Ryan tucked into the second
spot, followed by Sig Albarran, Brandon Brown and Vince James.
The best battle for the lead took place between laps ten and forty. First, Ryan
took the lead on lap ten, but lost it to Foreman on the following lap. Over the
next thirty laps, the two diced it up while running side by side almost the
entire time. That’s when Foreman began to slide back.
Ryan still had command halfway through the race and series points leader, Dave
Bentley, Jr. moved into second. Foreman held third with Anthony Pizzo and Larry
Spencer completing the top five.
With only twenty-five laps remaining, Foreman headed pit side with a flat tire.
That moved Bob Haeger into the top five.
Ryan remained out front over the remainder of the event and held off a late race
charge by Pizzo to notch his first enduro victory of the season. Pizzo could
have won if the race distance was one more lap. Instead he settled for second.
Bentley finished in the third spot, followed by Robin Schewire and Tony Arcarro.
Spencer and Haeger crossed the finish line fourth and fifth respectively, but
were disqualified in post race tech.
Kevin Nowak started from the pole and never looked back, as he cruised to the
25-lap trophy trucks win over Harry Sager, Frank Katona and Richard Petey.
Susan Ryan lapped the entire field to take the 15-lap 6/8-cylinder “ladies only”
enduro and Anne Chase held off “The Racing Mom”, Deb Arner to notch the 25-lap
“ladies only” four cylinder win.

May 17, 2008 – Hamlin Speedway, Hamlin PA – Slingshot/Micro Sprints:
Mother nature took control of our racing program with on and off rain showers
that delayed warm-ups and finally postponed the karting show until next week.
The Big Car Show was attempted for the 66 cars signed in for competition! With 2
extended run-in sessions following the rain showers – all heats were raced, the
feature line ups in place, and the junior slingshots on tap for their feature.
With only 2 laps logged – the rains came again for the final time sending the
class to the pits! It was a night to remember that persistence did not overcome
Mother Nature’s wrath! Check out the ’08 Photos page at
www.HamlinSpeedway.com to see
the Driver of the Week and the never say die attempt to go racing!
On schedule for next Saturday 5/24/08 are the make up features for the Junior
Slingshots and the Regular Slingshots in tandem with the Twin-20s for the 270cc
Micro Sprints. We are tentatively planning to make up the 270cc Micro Sprint
feature from 5/17 on 5/31 when the “Briggs Stock Light Challenge” event is also
scheduled. The Super 40! For the Super Slingers! Will be “on-hold” and discussed
on Saturday at the driver’s meeting to determine it’s makeup date.
On May 30th & May 31st – Hamlin Speedway has joined forces with Snydersville
Raceway to host a dual track challenge event for the Briggs Stock Light
competitors. This partnership event has been sponsored by DMI Manufacturing Inc.
the creator of the EBU (Energy Bank Unit). This is a robust opportunity for the
Briggs Stock Light competitors to earn a $500 payout to win plus the challenge
payout to win both events with Friday’s night “Dick Haring Memorial”!
DMI will be sponsoring 5 major events at both speedways and will be bringing
their DMI Orange County Chopper Bike to Hamlin on May 31st.

Billet Wins Make-up Feature from Last Week at SSP on Saturday; Rain Wins The
Rest of the Night
Newberrytown, PA (May 17, 2008) – Racing action at the Susquehanna Speedway Park
for Stock Car Saturday Night found Carlisle’s Carl Billet winning the Late Model
feature postponed from April 26. The York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature went
to Richard Day. A rain storm hit the speedway as the remainder of the feature
events were to begin. All qualifying events were completed. The feature events
postponed to a late date are the Late Models (rescheduled for Sat., June 28),
Street Stocks (rescheduled for Sat., June 21), Xtreme Stock Cars (rescheduled
for Sat., June 28), Four Cylinder Stock Cars (rescheduled for Sat., May 24) and
PENNMAR Vintage Cars (rescheduled for Sat., June 21).
The evening began with a make-up 20-lap Late Model feature from April 26. Chuck
Yingling Jr. and Carl Billet brought the field to the green with Billet taking
the lead on start. A 12-car pileup in turns 3 & 4 on the first lap brought out
the yellow. A complete restart was in order with all 12 cars moved to the rear
of the field. Once again on the restart, Billet took command of the lead with
Yingling once again in close pursuit. On the fifth circuit, Yingling brought out
the yellow, moving Jake Jones to the rear bumper of Billet. On the restart,
Billet held the lead. Jones chased Billet lap after lap but at the end was
unable to take the top spot. 2007 Late Model Track Champion, Carl Billet took
his second victory of the season. Jones finished second with Bud Witmer in
third, Justin Ehhrart finished fourth and Cam Zeigler was in fifth. Ehrhart
failed to go over the scales after the feature and was moved to the tail of the
lead lap to the 12th spot. This moved John Moser, Jr. in the fifth place
finishing position.
In the 10-lap York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature event, Richard Day took the
lead on the 7th lap form Jeff Svendsen and went on to win the feature over John
Durussell. Daryl Sipe finished third with Chad Gracey and Robert Fryberger
finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
Racing action returns on Saturday, May 24, with the 54th Anniversary Race
featuring the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Classic Cars and
Four Cylinder Stock Cars. There will also be make-up Xtreme Stock Car feature
from the postponed April 26 race event and Four Cylinder Stock Cars from May 17.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE---THANK YOU
KEYSTONE CUP THIS WEEKEND
York Haven, Pa.....The second annual Keystone Cup Series for the central
Pennsylvania Sprint Cars will fill the Memorial Day weekend with exciting racing
action. The series will feature five races in six days, with $5000 awaiting the
winner of each event.
The Keystone Cup Series features the 410 Sprint Cars in a program that will
include time trials, heat races, a B-Main, and an A-Main. Most programs will
also feature a second class of racing action.
Racing action begins on Wednesday evening at the Grandview Speedway as the NAPA
Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series opens its' nineteenth season. The
1/3rd mile high-banked oval, near Bechtelsville, will host a 35 lap feature for
the 410 sprints paying $5,000 to the winner. The wingless ARDC Midgets will also
be on the program that begins at 7:30 PM. For more information, visit
www.thunderonthehillracingseries.com.
After one night off, Keystone Cup moves to the historic Williams Grove Speedway,
near Mechanicsburg. The Sprint Cars will be the only attraction at the Grove,
and will run in a 30 lap feature. The banked ½ mile oval has been a part of dirt
track history since 1939.
Saturday evening the series moves to the Lincoln Speedway, near Hanover, for
Kline Services night. The 4/10s mile banked oval will feature a 30 lap feature
for the Sprint Cars, plus Legends Cars and Thundercars. Fireworks are also a
part of the program.
On Sunday evening Keystone Cup moves to Selinsgrove Speedway, for Heister House
night. The big ½ mile banked oval will host a 30 lap Sprint Car feature, plus
Prostocks.
Keystone Cup wraps up Memorial Day evening at Port Royal Speedway. Another big ½
mile banked oval, the Port also goes for 30 laps in the Sprint Car feature. The
Prostocks will be there as well.
Last year Fred Rahmer claimed the Keystone Cup title without a feature win. This
year Rahmer has already won six times, and he hopes to add to that total during
the Keystone Cup.
Last year's six race series found five different drivers in victory lane. Lucas
Wolfe, who is now touring with the World of Outlaws, won twice, while Outlaw ace
Danny Lasoski, Mark Smith, Greg Hodnett, and Stevie Smith each won once.
Hodnett has a pair of wins thus far this season, while both Smiths have won
once.
The central Pennsylvania circuit has produced a number of different winners this
season, and most are expected to compete in all or part of the Keystone Cup
series.
Jeff Shepard has already won three races this season, including two high paying
time trial shows. His team is concentrating on time trial events this season,
and should be ready for the Keystone Cup.
High School senior Cody Darrah is the other multi time winner this season. The
18 year old scored two wins on the same night at Lincoln Speedway, and is
expected to compete in the Keystone Cup series. Like Shepard, Darrah is on his
game in time trial events, and just last weekend set fast time at a Williams
Grove World of Outlaws event.
Brian Leppo also picked off a big win in a time trial event this season, and
should fair well during the Keystone Cup series. Other Pennsylvania winners this
season include Keith Kauffman, Todd Shaffer, Doug Esh, Niki Young, Alan Krimes,
Rick Lafferty, Blane Heimbach, and 410 "super rookie" Pat Cannon.
All Star point leader Lance Dewease is still a local crowd favorite, and will
compete in several Keystone Cup events that don't conflict with the All Star
schedule.

Paules, Frees and Truex Grab Mother’s Day Gold at Mountain Speedway
By: Gene Ostrowski
St. Johns, PA- With mothers receiving free admission to the speedway Sunday,
plenty of drivers took part in the Mother’s Day Special at Mountain Speedway.
Earl Paules held off Shaun Carrig to score the sport modified victory and Ron
Frees extended his point lead after winning his second straight super stock main
event. Ryan Truex outlasted the field and notched the win in the legend feature.
Brian Braddock scored the micro stock verdict and Tyler Truex scored his very
first asphalt bandolarro main event win.
After running heat races in the afternoon, the top six drivers in the sport
modified division redrew for starting spots to start the 40-lap main event.
Rick Zacharias and Shaun Carrig shared the front row and when the green flag
flew, Zacharias shot into the early lead. Earl Paules started third and quickly
moved into second by lap two.
Paules finally found the opening he was looking for when Zacharias slid up the
race track in turn one. He grabbed the lead as Carrig closed in on Zacharias for
second.
With fifteen laps in the books, John Wilbur grabbed third from Carrig and began
to reel in the second place car, but only a few laps later Wilbur ran up high
off of turn two, which allowed Carrig to retake the position.
The top two remained the same over the course of the event, with Carrig and
Wilbur swapping the third position from time-to-time.
The final caution flag waved with four laps remaining when Tom Kearns spun in
turns one and two. Wilbur was slow getting up to speed on the restart and lost
the fourth spot to Jason Hearne.
Paules held off Carrig over the remaining laps and went on to score his first
sport modified win of the season. Carrig crossed the stripe in second, followed
by Zacharias, Hearne and Kevin Davison.
Earl Paules, Shaun Carrig and Scott Riggleman were heat race winners.
After a six car redraw for starting positions, the super stocks hit the speedway
for their 25-lap feature. Gregg Miranda led the field down to the drop of the
green, but lost the top spot to Ron Frees after one circuit.
Frank Reakes took command of the event only three laps later, but the two were
sent to the rear on lap eleven after Frees made contact and spun Reakes off of
turn two.
Miranda inherited the lead for the restart and held the top spot with Nick
Gargiulo in second.
The two tangled on lap thirteen, and again, the third place car inherited the
lead. This time is was Paul Thomas. Thomas led until lap twenty-three, when he
spun after being overtaken by Frees and Reakes.
Reakes attempted to get by Frees over the remaining laps, but had to settle for
second. Jerry Stanzione, Rick Koph and Bill Vanderveen completed the top five.
Ron Frees and Gregg Miranda were heat race winners.
The top six legend qualifiers redrew for starting spots with Ryan Truex starting
on the pole. Truex immediately jumped out front in the 15-lap feature, which was
cut short for 20-laps because of time.
By halfway, Truex led over Roger Coss, Derek Hopkins, Mike Alcaro and Scott
Hubler.
Many caution periods plagued the event with the last coming on lap thirteen,
when Malcolm Campbell spun in turn two. Casey Robicheau and Bobby Baltera were
also collected.
Truex had no trouble en route to the win over Coss, Hopkins, Alcaro and Karl
Heisler, but the worst wreck happened after the checkered flag.
Several cars were out of shape at the finish and with nowhere to go, Katrine
Lotti’s car launched into the air down towards turn one. The car barrel rolled
once in mid air before slamming the turn one fence.
The red flag was displayed and miraculously, Lotti climbed from the car under
her own power.
Heat race wins went to Roger Coss, Michael Stull and Ryan Truex.
Ten micro stocks took the green flag for a 15-lap feature race. Brian Braddock
led all of the laps, but it didn’t come easy, as he held off a hard charging
Denny Hiddemen and former Mountain feature winner, Tom Ervin, to victory. Nick
Cottone and Jim Van Dine completed the top five.
Tyler Truex held off Robert Vassilatos to take his very first bandolarro win on
asphalt in the 15-lap feature.

The Iceman Adds the Linda's Lapsaloosa 30 to His Win List
2007 Linda's Speedway Champion Marc Daniels took the ride in the S&S rental for
the night and it paid off for Marc as he convincingly took the top spot and was
never denied from there .With Jan Acker who has shown he can get the job done
and be a force in 2008 leading the field to the green in his # 20 ,it was no
easy chore as the 2007 Slinsghot by Tobias National Champion Billy VanInwegen,
Jr was his front row partner. The green waved and Billy mashed the gas into turn
1 and grabbed the top spot. Jan was relentless and answered the call reclaiming
the spot he had earned from qualifying by passing Billy heading off of turn 2.
Action aplenty was trailing right behind them as Mike Glass, Jim Housworth, Bill
Weaver and Brandon Bucher all tried their best to pick up some spots early in
the 30 lapper. Not really entering the spotlight right away was Marc Daniels in
the driver's seat of the 5S for Ryan Smith who could not make the call due to
some extensive oral surgery. Marc was slowly picking off cars 1 by 1 and it took
2 restarts for Marc to become a solid factor in the race to the front. He passed
Glass, Billy V and had Acker to deal with for the win.The pair raced for 4 laps
before Daniels found the bottom to his liking in turn 4 and was never to be
denied after that .Paul Lotier, Jr., Nate Christman and Ryan Wells were keeping
up with the top 5 but Lotier suffered mechanical problems and Simon Egan enters
the picture in the 551 and becomes a member of the top 5.With the laps winding
down it was a battle to the end as a few drivers had an outside chance to pick
up a few spots. With the white flag waving Kaitie McCardle found back luck in
the cockpit and limped slowly on the outside. With the field bearing down on her
it could be a factor and was as Wells and Christman mixed it up with Christman
collecting McCardle at the line and fell back to 8th as he limped his car to the
finish line. Daniels headed to the scale and then to victory lane with Jan Acker
and Billy ,Jr. heading there to join him. The top 5 were Marc Daniels, Jan
Acker, Billy VanInwegen, Jr. ,Simon Egan and Ryan Wells. This gives Marc the
early point lead in the Mid-Atlantic Gold Region. A fine field of 28 cars
entered with all cars starting the A Main.

DiMarco, Ross, Biegley, Sicconi and Tidaback Share Mountain Spotlight
By: Gene Ostrowski
St. Johns, PA- Mountain Speedway held its first Saturday night racing program of
the season last weekend, where several drivers visited victory for the first
time this season. Richie DiMarco grabbed top honors in street stock competition,
as did first time winner, Nick Ross in the thrillers. Jeff Biegley scored his
first career win in an exciting 4 cyl. FWD division triumph. “Liquid” Lou
Sicconi and Mike Tidaback scored the feature wins in the dual ATQMRA main
events.
The afternoon began with ATQMRA midget qualifying, which was held “Formula One
style”. Tim Behmer ran the fastest lap with a time of 12.759 seconds and Lou
Sicconi was second quickest with a 12.774. Almost half of the field was inverted
for the start of the 20-lap feature, which put Jeff Kot on the pole position.
Kot led to the drop of the green, but outside pole sitter, Robin Johnston, made
a pass for the lead before a lap was scored. After three laps of racing, Tim
Behmer was second, followed by “Liquid” Lou Sicconi, Frank Fischer and Chris
Deritis.
Slowly but surely, Matt Janish moved through the field from his eight starting
spot. Also moving through the field was Ryan Tidman, who found himself in third,
twelve laps into the contest.
Trouble struck Tidman on the following lap, when he lost an engine in turns two.
The track crew quickly rushed to the scene and extinguished the flames, but
Tidman’s hopes of victory were diminished.
After the restart, Sicconi shot by Johnston for the top spot and Janish followed
into second. Sicconi never looked back and cruised on to victory over Janish,
Johnston, Fischer and Tidaback.
After winning the street stock heat race earlier in the evening, Richie DiMarco
started on the front row, next to pole sitter, Brad Kline.
Kline leapt to the early lead and DiMarco tucked back in the second spot. Paul
Frantz grabbed third by the second lap with Steve Shultz and Elliot Wohl
rounding out the top five.
A lap six opportunity arose for DiMarco and he worked the high side around Kline
and into the lead. Frantz tried the same move but failed on his first attempt.
DiMarco continued out front when the caution flew on lap twelve, when Shultz
tried to get underneath of Frantz for third in turns one and two.
DiMarco turned up the heat after the restart and began to put some distance
between himself and second place. Frantz finally cleared Kline for second on lap
fifteen, with Wohl running fourth. Jennifer Kutz entered the top five.
Eventually Wohl caught and passed Kline for fourth and Shultz took the fifth
spot from Kutz, but no one was able to touch DiMarco, as he notched his first
win of the season over Frantz and Wohl.
Bill Price, Jr. started on the outside of pole sitter, Nick Ross, after winning
the thriller heat race earlier in the day.
Ross got a great start when the green flag dropped for the start of the 20-lap
feature event and Mike Moyer, Jr. quickly grabbed second from Price.
Ross remained out front and after five laps of competition, was trailed by
Moyer, Jr, Price, Mike Moyer, Sr. and Nick Shaw.
Division points leader, Scott Adams, started fifth on the grid and moved into
the fourth spot with seven laps in the books. He attempted to take third from
Price in turn two as well, but was nearly run down to the infield.
With Ross sill out front, Moyer, Jr. moved to second. Eventually, Adams cleared
Price and Shaw to take the third spot.
After several disappointing weeks, Ross finally hit victory lane for his very
first career win, ahead of Moyer, Jr, Adams, Price and Shaw.
Bill Verwys, Sr. led the 4 cyl. FWD division to the drop of the green flag from
the pole position. Before a single lap was score, second place starter, Jeff
Biegley grabbed the top spot.
Verwys tucked into second and with five laps in the books, Eric Banashefski ran
third, followed by Jake Oswald and Nikki Wachs.
Biegley wasn’t running away with the show by any means and the rest of the field
proved throughout the event. Wachs and Oswald ran side-by side for fourth, then
with Verwys for third. However, all of the drivers, including Banashefski in
second place, began to reel in Biegley for a five-car battle.
Things got even more interesting, and involved a three-wide battle between
Biegley, Wachs and Verwys over the remaining three laps.
Biegley held on to score his first career win. Wachs finished in the runner-up
spot, followed by Verwys, Oswald and Banashefski completed the top five after
winning the heat race earlier.
The ATQMRA midgets took the stage for their second main event of the evening
with Tim Behmer leading the field to the drop of the green flag.
Immediately after the start, Robin Johnston shot out front and appeared to have
the victory wrapped up early, but things changed after he jumped two restarts
following several cautions. On the final lap four restart, Johnston was sent to
the rear of the field, which handed the lead to Chris Deritis.
Deritis led one circuit after the restart before being overtaken by Mike
Tidaback as the two raced out of turn two. Unfortunately for Deritis, the
contact forced him to spin and brought out the caution. He rejoined the tail end
of the field for the restart.
Tidaback led the remaining laps and grabbed his first Mountain ATQMRA win of the
season over Matt Janish and Robin Johnston, who had worked his way back towards
the front. Dave Williams finished fourth and Frank Fischer rounded out the top
five.
The Doylestown Quarter Midget Racing Club was on hand for to help promote their
racing efforts and several of the young competitors ran a handful of laps during
intermission. The youngsters also gave the command for the start of the first
ATQMRA feature event.

Sunny Skies, Warm Weather to Greet Racers at Snydersville Raceway
Although a late storm halted Snydersville’s racing action last Friday with 5
races left, the early evening action was hot and heavy in the Kart, Slingshot
and Microstock divisions. This week the Monroe County oval will pick up where
they left off with the remainder of the Brigg’s Sr. Stock feature that was being
run when the rains came. The remaining 4 features consisting of Senior
Slingshots, Open Modified Karts, Brigg’s Animal Heavy and Sr. Sportsman will not
be run and double points will be awarded to all qualified cars off of their heat
race performances.
It appears Mother Nature may be a bit kinder this week as we have a forecast of
Sunny & Clear Skies, with temperatures in the Upper 70’s. Great Weather always
brings lots of competitors to Snydersville and this Friday should be no
exception.
A full regular show will be run for all divisions and will feature a 25 lap main
event for the popular Junior Slingshot Cars. Will last weeks winner Molly
Chambers return looking for win #2 or will a new face emerge from the Jr.
Division? A few invaders are expected to challenge the Snydersville regulars for
the top prize.
The Raceway’s surface has been lightning quick and in great condition. The
fields are growing bigger each week and it appears Snydersville Raceway is the
Friday “Place to Race” this year.
Gates open at 4PM. with the weekly driver’s meeting at 6:45PM. The evening’s
first green flag will drop precisely at 7PM.
April 25 will be a banner night at Snydersville as it will be Rodota Trucking
and Excavating Night at the Raceway. Located in Belvidere, NJ , Rodota is
operated by Former Modified Driver and Snydersville competitor Bob Hummer.

Jeremy Miller Rides To First Career World of Outlaws Late Model Series
Victory On Genesis Racing Shocks
ROSWELL, GA – Genesis Shocks reached another milestone on April 11 when Jeremy
Miller rode to his first career World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory at
Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA
A member of the Genesis Shocks dirt Late Model team since September 2007, Miller
passed division legend Billy Moyer for the lead in the A-Main and held off
defending World of Outlaws champion Steve Francis to score his landmark triumph.
Genesis Shocks enjoyed plenty of success on the WoO LMS last season thanks to
well-known national star Chub Frank, who led the tour in A-Main victories using
Genesis equipment. But Miller became the first regional standout to win a WoO
event for Genesis.
"Race proven, cost effective, a very quality service."
"Genesis has taken a product that was becoming very complicated and made it
simple.
“I think Genesis Shocks have definitely helped my program,” said Miller, who
drives for Maryland car owner Charles Buckler. “They’ve made it easier for
somebody like me, who doesn’t race for a living, to get a handle on the shock
situation.
“Working with Genesis is definitely better for people like me who don’t have the
time to spend worrying about your shocks. With Genesis Shocks you can rely on
them to get you going in the right direction fast.”
“When you work with Genesis, you get a top-notch professional product that gets
results.”

Gary Hieber Makes Bridgeport's Jaunt to Jersey a Success
Langhorne, PA’s Gary Hieber took advantage of an inside 2nd row starting spot
and shot to lead by the time the field headed into turn 2.Polesitter Mike Sabo
from Flemington, NJ had his # 15 Slingshot working well heading for the green
but a slight bobble into turn one forced Mike to correct slightly out of the
groove allowing Hieber to put the Langhorne Motorsports # 56 out in front for
good. Outside front row starter Rob Marino was staying with Hieber and Sabo but
the pressure from Jordan Henn in the Henn/Eisenhard 77H and Lidlifter 40 winner
Matt Carman were too much for Marino and he fell back to 5th before 5 laps were
in the books.A Battle Royale was what the fans were being treated to as Mike
Carman, Paul Lotier, Jr, Mike Glass, Dave McCullough and Kaitie McCardle were
swapping spots 6 through 10 with every corner. A late race spin by McCullough
ended his strong bid for a top 10 finish. This caution bunched up the field one
last time and with this final 2 lap dash to the checkers, Paul Lotier, Jr in the
Tobias Speed Shop # 7L went from 9th to 6th and 2007 Weikel Warrior Champion Jim
Housworth went from 11th to 9th when the black and whites were waved. Kyle
Hieber drove a steady race in the Gary Hieber prepared 66 to finish 8th after
starting 11th.Mike Glass also snuck by Jordan Henn down the backstretch of lap
19 for 4th.Jake Smith suffered some last lap problems and lost his bid for
10th.Anthony Perrego could not regroup from his early race caution and settled
for an 11th.Newcomer Rob Pomeroy in the 702 designated his starting spot of the
rear for all events but looked quite impressive after the ½ way sign was given
and completed all 20 laps on the immaculately prepared Bridgeport ¼ mile oval.
Hard luck of the night went to Tyler Miller who could not make the call to the
Jaunt to Jersey 20 green.
Summary results:
1.Gary Hieber # 56 2. Mike Sabo # 15 3. Matt Carman #2 4. Mike Glass # 2G

Marino Gets Standing Ovation At Shellhammers
The Return to Shelly’s 20 might go down as one of the most enjoyable Slingshot
Events ever run and a homecoming of sorts for the winner. With an overflowing
pits, packed grandstand and some of the Slingshot’s finest talents in the field
the return of the Slingshots to one of it’s original race tracks became a
reality when the field took the green on the 1/8th mile oval. The dual heat
format proved to be very successful and entertaining as only 1 caution was
needed for all 4 qualifiers. With a great qualifying run New Jersey’s Rob Marino
earned the pole spot with another Jersey ace, Matt Carman giving him a run for
his money to the green. The high banks were letting the racers go hammer down
and 3 wide action was seen throughout the 20 lap A Main. A minor tangle on lap 8
between Jake Smith in the Smith Trucking 18A and Mike Carman in the Darryl
Carman prepared 747 saw the first feature yellow. In the first 8 laps Marino
maintained a slight lead with any bobble allowing Carman a shot at overtaking
him for the lead. Coming through the field was Anthony Perrego who had to start
at the rear after taking the seat of the 1A when his 00 has mechanical problems.
The Montgomery, NY teenager went from 18th to 10th in 8 laps. It was 3 wide for
2 laps with Rich Sachetta in his Jimmie Johnson look-alike 48,Damian Bower in
the Deka Battery sponsored 72D and the “Kid from Kutztown Jordan Henn giving the
Henn-Eisenhard 77H another great run to the front.A lap 11 debris caution as
Sachetta’s exhaust was found in turn 3.This sent the Sinking Spring, PA racer to
the pits after a strong top 6 run. With the green waving it was another shootout
as Carman made a bold move on the outside of turn 2 but did not have enough to
get by Marino and now Kyle Rohner ,Tyler Potts and Paul Lotier, Jr had their own
battle to decide the final podium finish. As Dave Cordier, Jr’s 2 lap sign was
shown Brad Arnold lost his momentum in turn 4 and drifted high allowing Perrego,
Bridgeport winner Gary Hieber and “Dyno” Dave McCullough to sneak under him for
good. The fans now had 1 last lap of some intense action to watch as Kaitie
McCardle, Dillon Emmons, newcomer Chris Tavarez, Jake Smith coming back from an
early race spin, Mike Carman and Damian Bower all were jockeying to head home
with a strong 11th place outing. With the checkers being shown a turn 3 tangle
left the $ of Dillon Emmons on the track berm and his chances of a top 12 finish
erased after working his way up from his 17th place starting slot. Marino took
the checkers to the delight of the full house who gave him a standing ovation
and record his first ever Slingshot by Tobias win. The Frenchtown, NJ driver had
no crew help for this event as the Rob Marino Sealcoating # 13 was on rails the
whole evening. It was noted during post race tech that Rob was actually a Class
Champion at Shellhammer’s in 1993 and his reunion with Dave Cordier,Sr. was one
to be remembered for a long time. Shellhammer’s has asked the Slingshots to
possibly come back as a possible semi-regular class addition as many drivers,
crew members, owners and fans thanked the Cordier Family, staff and all track
workers for one of the most well-run,highly entertaining and fastest speedways
the Slingshots put their Briggs & Stratton powered race cars on.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, NY - Accord Speedway Cancels Practice; Scott Harvey Memorial To Open
Season On April 18th
By Steve Pados, Accord Media
While the construction crews work continuously on the "new look" Accord
Speedway, the speedway will remain dark this coming weekend. Accord Speedway
Promoter Gary Palmer reluctantly made the decision to throw in the towel to try

towards opening night April 18th when the Terra Nova 4 Seasons Pizza sponsors
the Scott Harvey Memorial Night, an event that will have all six of the
speedway's divisions competing for the first time on the totally redone raceway.
Palmer cited numerous projects at the track remain to have the finishing touches
put on them before he would be comfortable in opening up the track for practice
and decided to wait an additional week in hopes all of the projects can be
completed before the first green flag falls.
Palmer, who will be opening the Accord gates for the eighth year under his
regime, feels the extra week will be beneficial to everyone involved with the
speedway. At last count many of the weekly regulars had not yet put the
finishing touches to their racing equipment, and the extra week should be a
blessing for those still waiting to button down their race-cars and have them
ready for action when the season opens on April 18th. The optimistic Palmer is
hoping for some much needed cooperation from Mother Nature this coming week to
will allow for the track to be rarin' to go for the lid-lifter.
Three of the speedway's racing stars, Andy Bachetti, Jerry Higbie, and Scott
Ferrier, along with Media Man Steve Pados, took part in a taped interview
session yesterday with Local Cable Channel 6 TV Host Lindsay Liquori to discuss
the many improvements made at the Accord Speedway over the winter months and the
much anticipated racing season that looms ahead. The taped show will air on
Monday Night, April 14th at 6 PM and will be re-broadcast on Wednesday Night,
April 16th at 6 PM as well. The drivers reacted favorably to the many changes
being made at the speedway as being all of the proper moves in the right
direction and praised the energetic Palmer for having the courage and wisdom to
take on such a vast project but never forgetting about the drivers who race at
his racetrack during the season. As good as the racing was in 2007, the drivers
feel the racing will be even more exciting in 2008, citing the wider track (70
feet wide all of the way around) and the increased number of talented racers all
vying for the added incentive of racing for the $2,000.00 to win Palmer has put
in place for the new season.
A tremendous field of cars is expected in for the opening night of racing, a
night dedicated to longtime speedway Announcer Scott Harvey who passed away from
a long battle with cancer just after the 2007 racing season got underway last
year. Harvey was the Announcer at Accord since 1992 and proved to be the
instrumental person to have Promoter Gary Palmer take a look at the speedway
when then Promoter Dave Flach wished to step down. Harvey called his last race
at Accord at the King of the Catskills event in 2006. Harvey, in addition to
calling the races at Accord, was the longtime voice for the WKA Karts in the
Northeast and announced at most tracks within the region. Expected in for the
opening night show include the likes of Jerry Higbie, Andy Bachetti, Rich and
Mike Ricci, Richie Eurich, "The Cyclone" Jamie Yannone, Danny Tyler, Rick Mill,
Scott Ferrier, and "Jumpin" John McGill. With the 17-year old Tyler moving up to
the Modified Division, the door opens up for all of the hopefuls in the
challenging Sportsman ranks. All of the divisions at the speedway will be well
represented when the curtain rises on the new season at the "Gem in the
Catskills".
Plans call for the pit gates of the speedway to open on April 18th at 4:30.
Spectator gates will open at 5 PM. Hot Laps are set to begin at 6:30 and the
racing will kick-off at 7 PM. A standing room only crowd is expected for the
opening night races so fans are encouraged to come early.
Promoter Gary Palmer and his family have put a lot of hard work and effort into
making Accord Speedway one of racing's highlighted success stories since the
speedway has been under their direction. The improvements at the speedway
continue and the racing just gets better and better and the Midweek Madness
shows have seemingly become the farm system to nurture the future stars in
racing we will be hearing about for years to come. Let the great work continue
as the excitement is already building for a 2008 racing season that will blow
the lid off of everything that has been done in the past.
The Palmer Family would like to thank all of the sponsors, competitors, fans and
staff for making the 2007 racing season at Accord the best season to date since
they took over the reigns at the facility seven years ago. The Palmer family
looks forward to the 2008 racing season and encourage everyone to visit the
newly constructed website often for continued updates and information on the
great racing and at the "Gem in the Catskills"
Regular Show admission remains the same at $12.00 for Adults (12yrs+) Kids $3.00
(11yrs and under)
Pit Gates open at 4:30 and Spectator Gates open at 5 PM. Hot-Laps are at 6:30
and Racing begins at 7 PM.

Speedway, logon to the their newly constructed website at:

Fast Times at Mountain Speedway- Smith, Hoffman, Wanamaker, Ross and Wachs grab
pole positions for opening day
St. Johns, PA- A total of forty-three race cars took time Sunday during Mountain
Speedway’s annual “pole day”. Twenty five championship points were awarded to
every driver that took time, with an additional twenty five bonus points going
to the fastest qualifier in each division.
Kyle Ebersole was the first driver out in the modified division and was knock
from the provisional pole when Andy Walko ran a lap under 14 seconds. Walko’s
time at the top of the charts was short lived, as Rusty Smith hit the speedway
and blistered off a lap of 13.627 second.
Paul Koehler held the fastest lap laid down in the late model portion of time
trials until the eleventh qualifier took the stage. Joe Hoffman took to the
speedway and hooked up well to the racing surface for a 14.525 lap time.
Brad Kline held the street sock provisional pole until Chip Wanamaker ran a lap
of 15.885, which was the only street stock time in the 15-second bracket. Former
track champion, Scott Meckes took his timed run in Josh Oswald’s car after
losing a transmission during warm-ups.
Jeff Searfoss appeared to have the quickest time in the thriller division- that
was until tech. Following inspection, Nick Ross was presented with the Vic’s
Trophies fastest time award with a lap of 17.026.
Coming off a terrific season, Nikki Wachs lead-footed her 4 cyl. FWD race car
around the track to claim the fastest speed with a lap of 17.584.
The field will be inverted for each division on opening day, via numbers that
will be drawn from a hat. The numbers in the hat will be the total amount of
driver’s that took time on pole day. The number drawing will determine how many
cars will be inverted for the start of each feature event.
Following consi races for pole day non qualifiers, six feature will run on
opening day, which is slated for Sunday, April 13. The modifieds, late models,
street stocks, thrillers, 4 cyl. FWDs and ATQMRA midgets will take the stage for
their action packed feature. Adult admission is $14. Children 10 and under are
free. Consi races will begin at 2 PM.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, NY - Accord Speedway Looking Towards April 11th For Scheduled Practice
Session.
By Steve Pados, Accord Media
The repeated curve balls Mother Nature keeps throwing in the Hudson Valley area
may hinder the progress of the heavy duty construction project Accord Speedway
Promoter Gary Palmer is diligently working on, but undaunted, the energetic
Palmer and his Family and Staff move their work to other areas of the facility
when the unpredicatable weather shuts down the outside projects. While Palmer
has cancelled the first of two scheduled practice sessions, the first which was
to have been this coming Friday April 4th, Palmer is hoping the weather picture
will ease up to allow for the new clay to knit together for at least one solid
practice session to be held on April 11th and with a raindate of April 12th. The
speedway has been a bustle of activity since the 2007 season ended as a number
of big construction projects were planned and underway in hopes of completion
before the curtain lifts for the start of the 2008 racing season scheduled for
April 18th.
Palmer, who will be opening the Accord gates for the eighth year under his
regime, was a recent Monday night guest on the popular TV/Internet Show
On-Track, while three of the weekly racing stars at the facility, Danny Tyler,
Jerry Higbie, and Andy Bachetti were guests on CARQUEST Gasoline Alley on a
night dedicated to the great racing and driving talent at the Accord Speedway.
Palmer discussed all of the improvements he was making at his Ulster County
speedplant and added some great commentary as to the future of the facility
which enters it's 46th year of hosting racing events. Palmer points to the
future of the raceway as being very bright with additional improvements
forthcoming as long as the track is enjoying success.
The three racing stars interviewed on the show were happy with the progress of
the raceway and are looking forward to a great season of racing as well as the
added incentive of racing for the $2,000.00 to win Palmer has put in place for
the new season. While the 17-year old Tyler will be racing for the Rookie of the
Year honors at the track and hoping for some top finishes as he steps up his
racing game, both Higbie and Bachetti make no bones about the fact they are
racing for the Modified title at Accord. With Bachetti in the runner-up role in
2007 but leading the way in wins with five, and Higbie who scored two wins in
2007 to go along with his 6th place in points, the table is set for an
interesting and exciting year at the "Gem in the Catskills". Current Champion
Rich Ricci Jr, who secured his 10th title last year, will head the cast of
combatants heading into the new season. Throw in the likes of 2006 Champion
"Iron" Mike Ricci, Richie Eurich, "The Cyclone" Jamie Yannone, Scott Ferrier, "Jumpin"
John McGill, and Rick Mill, one can see the talent crop at the speedpant is
skilled and capable of winning each night out.
With the widening of the track on the homestretch, racing fans will be brought
closer to the non-stop, exciting action the Accord facility is noted for. In
addition to the installation of the new frontstretch wall, new virgin clay has
been brought in to mix with the existing great track surface to give the racers
the
desired surface to race on. The additional clay will allow for higher banking in
the turns and should allow the drivers to go full-throttle once the lights go
green. The track will also new feature new homestretch lighting for the 2008
season.
An enlarged pit area will also greet the racers in 2008 as the popular Ulster
County speedplant was running out of room in trying to place all of the cars in
the pit area. The new parking layout will allow for the big rigs to be parked at
an angle, eliminating the struggle to park a rig should the team arrive later
than normal.
The concession area will also go through some changes for 2008 as many new
exciting entrees will be added to the already extensive menu. Frito Pies, a big
hit at the annual Chili Bowl, will be just one of the new entrees that await the
fans looking to chow-down on some of the great food the speedway offers.
Plans call for the gates of the speedway to pen on April 11th at 12 noon. Safety
inspection of all vehicles racing at the speedway will be paramount in keeping
the highest of safety standards, and will take place from noon until 4. Practice
will follow as the drivers will be dialing in their racers throughout the
session to be ready come opening night on April 18th. Spectators will be allowed
in for free for the practice session. Should there be a cancellation to the
scheduled practice session, the rain date would be the following day, April12th.

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
Accord, NY - Work Continues For The New Look Accord Speedway; Practice Scheduled
For April 4th
By Steve Pados, Accord Media
Despite the harsh New York winter, the plans to have most of the heavy duty
construction completed on time, continue at the Accord Speedway as Promoter Gary
Palmer and his Family and Staff prepare to usher in another new season with the
best racing witnessed on the East Coast. While the time-clock is ticking, a
bustle of activity has the construction crews working over-time to have the
Ulster County facility ready for the opening practice session slated for April
4th. Promoter Gary Palmer remains optimistic in the fact if he can dodge the
unpredictable weather that has been haunting the surrounding area, he may be
able to open the gates as scheduled. Much work still needs to be accomplished in
the next week, but it is hoped the weather will cooperate for the energetic
Palmer, who will be opening the Accord gates for the eighth year under his
regime.
Racing fans and drivers will have the opportunity to view the "new look" Accord
Speedway when the gates are opened for the 2008 racing season. The old boiler
plate wall that had stood the test of time for many years, has been removed in
favor of a new concrete wall that will run from turn four into the turn one
track exit area. The change will widen the racing lanes for the drivers and give
the dedicated racing fans an unobstructed view of the frontstretch and bring the
race fans closer to the exciting racing action that happens on the track
throughout an evening of racing.
In addition to the installation of the new frontstretch wall, an abundance of
new virgin clay has been brought in to mix with the great surface the quarter
mile speedplant is already noted for. The additional clay will allow for higher
banking in the turns and should allow the drivers to go full-throttle once the
lights go green. The track will also new feature new homestretch lighting for
the 2008 season. Improved rest-rooms, and a general landscaping of the entire
grounds will add lustre to the "Gem in the Catskills".
An enlarged pit area will also greet the racers in 2008 as the popular Ulster
County speedplant was running out of room in trying to place all of the cars in
the pit area. At the recent Middletown Motorsports Show, the Accord Booth
remained busy all weekend as most of the Parking Permits were distributed during
the show. The change should alleviate the congestion the packed pit area
sometimes encountered, but drivers who have not purchased their permits as yet,
are encouraged to do so as quickly as possible.
The concession area will also go through some changes for 2008 as many new
exciting entrees will be added to the already extensive menu.
All racing divisions will return to the popular raceway in 2008. Special events
include the ARDC Midgets coming in for a July 11th pairing with the ACOT
Oldtimers. The CSRA 305 Sprint Cars make an appearance on June 13th. The Vintage
Modifieds will be included for dates on May 2nd, May 16th, and August 8th. The
spectacular "King of the Catskills" event will have the backing of the ROC Tour
with the September 26th date that will once again pay $5,000.000 to the winner.
For the fans of the popular "rock'em-sock'em" stuff, the Demo Derby and Enduro
weekend will take place on October 11th.
High interest remains centered around the Modified Division as many competitors
are formulating their schedules and looking for a home to do their Friday night
racing. The phones at the speedway have been busy handling the large volume of
calls coming in regarding all divisions of racing at the speedway, but the
Modifieds have proven to be the center of the conversations. It is certain many
new names will dot all rosters in 2008 as many new faces will be seeking to make
Accord Speedway their home track for what is anticipated to be another banner
year for the 46 year old racing facility.
The announcing Team of Steve Pados, Andy Crane and Joel Murns will return to the
mikes in 2008. Working together for the first time ever, the blend of youth and
maturity came together with tremendous results. There will be some added
surprises in store for the fans with some track promotions and an increase in
the number of track banner nights. Pados will double up his action in 2008 by
announcing the Midweek Madness races on Wednesday nights.
Loralyn Brinster will return to the Speedway in 2008 as Miss Accord Speedway.
Plans call for the gates of the speedway to pen on April 4th at 12 noon. Safety
inspection of all vehicles racing at the speedway will be paramount in keeping
the highest of safety standards, and will take place from noon until 4. Practice
will follow as the drivers will be dialing in their racers throughout the
session to be ready come opening night on April 18th. Spectators will be allowed
in for free for the practice sessions. Should there be a cancellation to the
scheduled practice sessions, the rain date would be the following day, the 5th
and the 12th.
Promoter Gary Palmer and his family have put a lot of hard work and effort into
making Accord Speedway one of racing's highlighted success stories since the

Resurfacing forces March 29th practice cancellation
In an effort to provide the most exciting and entertaining racing program
possible, the management of Mountain Speedway felt the time has never been
better to repair the older sections of the racing surface.
Work has already begun at the speedway, and a very small window of opportunity
has become a little smaller, as the weather forecast calls for a mixed bag of
precipitation over the next few days, and temperatures remaining near freezing
through the weekend.
With help from Franzosa Contracting of Pardeesville, PA., every effort has been
made to complete the task in time for the first practice. However, in order to
assure the proper curing time for the newly laid asphalt, the right decision is
to cancel this weekend’s planned practice session.
The decision to cancel has been made early to accommodate the dozens of race
teams from surrounding states who have indicated they will be calling Mountain
Speedway their “Home Track” for 2008. Many of these teams travel a great
distance to compete at the fastest 1/3 mile asphalt oval in the northeast…soon
to be even faster!
Along with the resurfacing of turns three and four, including the apron, is the
grading of the front stretch area adjacent to victory lane, and the paving of 10
additional parking spots in the pit area. A go-kart track utilizing an inner
oval, is also in the works.
We can now look forward, with great anticipation, to the first weekend in April,
as practice will take place from 12 NOON-5:30 PM on Saturday, April 5th, and
Pole Day to follow on Sunday, April 6th, as timed qualifying will see the top 15
drivers locked in to the feature event, with the remainder of the field to
transfer through consolation events on opening day, Sunday, April 13.

Mountain Speedway Raises Free Admission Age
St. Johns, PA- Mountain Speedway has recently announced that children, ages 10
and under will be admitted to the races for free this season.
In years past, children 6 and under were free, but this season track management
has increased the “free age” to ten years of age and younger. In other words, a
family of four, including two ten-year old children will be admitted for a cost
of $28, as opposed to $42.
“It was a good decision to increase the age for free admission”, said speedway
co-promoter, Mike Odwazny. “Children are the future of our sport and it’ll help
put a few more dollars back in the pockets of their parents as well”.
Aside from the free admission, children will also have the opportunity to win
prizes, receive gifts from give aways or participate in big wheel races
throughout the season. There are many other activities planned, especially for
the children who enroll in the Custom Classic Trucks “Little Racers Club”.
The complete schedule of events is listed on the speedway’s website,

Brown, Verwys and Sager Spring to Mountain Madness Victories
By Gene Ostrowski
Round #2 of the 2008 “Mountain Madness” Enduro Series kicked off Saturday at
Mountain Speedway. Over seventy-five racers from across the Northeast took
advantage of the Spring-like weather to showcase their endurance while being
behind the wheel of a race car. By the end of the afternoon, Pat Verwys, Ed
Brown, Jr. and Harry Sager all visited victory lane as division race winners.
Bob Haeger led the first four circuits of the 100-lap four-cylinder event before
Robin Schewire took control of the race. The two swapped the top spot on several
occasions with Pat Verwys, Anthony Pizzo, and Duane Garrison in pursuit of the
leaders.
Verwys grabbed the lead on lap sixteen, but Schewire wouldn’t give up easily, as
the duo exchanged the top position four times over the next twenty circuits.
The second of four red flags flew when Danielle Allen and Schewire got together
on the front stretch. Schewire was able to continue, but Allen’s car sustained
heavy front-end damage and remained on the speedway.
Green flag racing resumed and Verwys continued in command at the halfway mark
over Pizzo, Sam Ryan, Schewire and Dave Bentley.
The top ten jostled positions throughout the rest of the event, but Verwys
remained untouched and cruised to his first win in over two years. Bentley raced
up to second, followed by Ryan, Pizzo and Joe Grocholski.
In victory lane, Verwys thanked his brother, Bill, for letting him drive to
victory in his car.
From the pole, Rich Moyer shot out front in the 100-lap 6/8-cylinder event, but
it didn’t take long until Ed Brown, Jr overtook him. By lap ten, Joe Jentile
fought around TJ Kapish, Brian Brown and Frank Reakes to take second.
With nineteen laps completed, Jentile soared into the lead and appeared to have
full control of the field, but that was until he experienced a flat tire on lap
thirty-nine. A pit stop by Jentile moved Brown back to the front.
Mark Spencer drove to second and by mid race he was pressured by Shawn Gallucci,
TJ Kapish and Jeff Walls. Meanwhile, Danny Grennan and Phil Lomonaco began to
make their presence known, entering the top ten.
With lapped traffic as a factor, and with two laps remaining, Spencer reeled in
Brown and the two dueled side-by-side. Brown held off Spencer for his first
Mountain Madness enduro victory by a mere car-length. Walls, Gallucci and Kapish
completed the top five.
Brown thanked his friends and competitors in victory lane after pocketing over
$700 for his fist win.
A handful of “Trophy Trucks” were on hand for a quick 25-lap enduro. Harry Sager
grabbed the lead from pole sitter, Mariah Lawrence at the drop of the green
flag. By mid race and with a half lap lead, it appeared that Sager would easily
win the contest over Woot Lawrence, Kevin Nowak and Jim White. However, Lawrence
began to reel in the leader. Lawrence closed even more during the closing laps,
but not enough to let Sager know that he was there.
With his victory, Sager is now batting 100 after winning the first two enduros
of the season and thanked his wife, Nikki Sager (Wachs). The two were married
three weeks ago.
The next Mountain Madness Enduro Series event will be held rain or shine on
Sunday, May 18. For the complete Mountain Speedway schedule, rules, regulations
and standings, please visit www.mountainspeedway.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ROC DIRT SERIES RE: 2008 RoC Dart Dirt Tour
EMAIL: ROCDIRT@AOL.COM
PHONE: 607-775-5555
THE RACE OF CHAMPIONS DART DIRT MODIFIED TOUR READY FOR 2008. NINE RACES SLATED
WITH SLIGHTLY INCREASED POINT FUND. TOUR CHAMPION TO EARN $7,000 MINIMAL FOR
TITLE.
BINGHAMTON, NY…As the 2008 Race of Champions Dart Dirt Modified Series gets set
to green this Saturday at the Selinsgrove Speedway the upcoming season is
quickly taking shape. Nine races will dot the ’08 Modified schedule with some
higher paying events along with an increased point fund at seasons end.
The nine race schedule will see only one region intact for this season with
three season ending events to determine the overall title in ’08. Many of the
teams indicated at the end of last season that they preferred a one region point
race. This years schedule is suited perfectly to accomplish just that. Teams are
not required to travel any further south than Selinsgrove and only as far north
at Utica Rome Speedway.
With uncertain economical trends in the nation the tour will require teams to
travel less while receiving some better paying events closer to home. The point
fund will also be a better situation for teams with the overall champion earning
a cool $7,000 for only nine races.
The series will feature six events during the summer month with the traditional
point distribution structure in place from years past. Three fall combination
events will pay a minimum of $5,000 to win at each and will award championship
points. The championship points will be roughly a one and a half point
distribution. The driver leading the points after the six summer events will
receive a $1,000 bonus as well. Should that driver go on to win the overall
title the championship cash would swell to $8,000.
Series Director Andrew Harpell commented, “This could be the best schedule we
have had with the Race of Champions Dart Dirt Series.” He added, “Every race on
the schedule is obtainable for teams in the northeast. The Pennsylvania and New
Jersey weekly Saturday night teams now have no conflicts on any of the events
scheduled.” “I feel our schedule gets us back to our original intention of
providing manageable events for the weekly race teams.”
The ’08 schedule has either the races slated prior to their opening dates or
they are on off days. Southern drivers like Jeff Strunk and Jimmy Horton once
again have the opportunity to compete for the title without scheduling
conflicts. The two have both had success on the tour in the past but scheduling
date conflicts made it difficult to follow the entire tour in ’07.
This Saturday the Race of Champions Dart Dirt Modified Tour goes green at the
Selinsgrove Speedway in Pennsylvania. The historic Sprint Car facility will play
host to the Modified stars for the first time since 1982. A 50 lap $4,000 to win
minimal payday will be up for grabs. Loads of bonus money and contingency awards
will be on the line as well. A rain date is in place for this Sunday, March 16th
if needed.
The tour will then head to the Utica Rome Speedway for the annual RoC Mother’s
Day special. This event has been one of the best on the trail in the past years.
This year’s race will pay $10,000 to the race winner and a cool $1,000 to take
the green in what is being headlined as the “Victoria” event.
Five Mile Point Speedway will host two summer RoC Dart dirt events on Tuesday,
July 8th and Wed. August 6th. Both events will be 75 lappers paying $4,000 to
the winner. Once again neither event is a conflict on any of the northeast
Modified schedules. Utica Rome Speedway will “up the ante” again on Wednesday,
July 23rd with the Richie Evans Remembered 61 lap special. The 61 lap race will
pay $6,100 to the winner. The popular Penn Can Speedway will return to the fold
on Tuesday, July 29th with a 75 lap special paying $4,000 to the victor.
The fall combination races will settle the 2008 point championship with three –
one hundred lap affairs paying $5,000 to the winner of each. All three events
are on short tracks that will again level the playing field while requiring less
wear and tear on the team’s motors. On Sunday, September 14th Penn Can Speedway
will host its annual “King of the Can”. The 100 lap affair has been outstanding
in each of the last two year’s with the locals posting big wins over the
invaders.
Accord Speedway will crown yet another King on Friday, September 26th with the
running of the “King of the Catskills” 100 lapper. The recently renovated and
bigger facility will certainly lend itself to fantastic side by side action in
this fall favorite.
The 38th running of the Southern Tier 100 will settle the score in the Race of
Champions Dart Dirt Modified Tour on Saturday, October 25th. The historic
National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend will also see the RoC Dart
Sportsman title settled on Friday night in a 100 lap special. Stewart Friesen
won last years 100 lap RoC finale at the quarter mile.
Series Director Andrew Harpell commented lastly, “We are calling the 2008 RoC
Dart Series the “Less is More Tour” as we have less travel for the teams, with
better paying races and a better point fund.” In this era of short track racing
the 2008 series concept is refreshing for everyone involved.
The Race of Champions Dart Dirt Series participating sponsors include Dart
Machinery, Sunoco Race Fuels, American Racer Tires, Total Seal Piston Rings, PBM
Performance Products, LA Sleeve, Dura- Bond, Afco, Dynatech, Competition
Engineering by Moroso, Xceldyne and CV Products. For information on the Race of
Champions Dart Dirt Modified Tour information please call the tour offices at
(607) 775-5555 or log on to www.rocdirt.com
for more.
Upcoming R.o.C Dart Dirt Schedule:
Modifieds – Saturday, March 15th – Selinsgrove Speedway (50 laps)
Sportsman – Sunday, May 18th – Utica Rome Speedway (40 laps)

ACCORD, NY - Miss Accord Speedway Loralyn Brinster To Compete This Weekend At
Miss Dirt Car NE Competition
By Steve Pados, Accord Media
Miss Accord Speedway Loralyn Brinster will vie for the 2008 Miss Dirt Car NE
Title this coming weekend at the annual Motorsports Expo being held at the New
York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, New York. Dates for the event are March 7th
through the 9th with the competiton phase being held in the evening on the 7th
and sponsored in part by Leaf Racewear. For the 20-year old Miss Brinster, this
will be her second appearance at the event. Last year Miss Brinster was awarded
first runner-up honors in the competition won by the reigning titlist Miss
Angela Galati. The 2006 event was won by Miss Chelsea Miller. The winner of the
event will collect $500.00 for her efforts.
Miss Brinster recently competed for the AARN Miss Motorsports title in Atlantic
City, New Jersey and came away with a strong second runner-up finish in the
event, an event won by female racer Tiffany Skias. Miss Brinster is certainly no
stranger to competition herself as she is currently the reigning Miss Middletown
Motorsports titlist, and event she captured last March. In addition to her title
and duties at the Accord Speedway, Miss Brinster is currently Miss WALN for the
renowned TV/Internet station located in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

worked pitside in the past for such drivers as Ralph Utter Jr, Clinton Mills,
Joel Murns Jr, Pete Van Nordt and Kevin Colman. She attends more than 60 races
per year with her favorite tracks being Gary Palmer's Accord Speedway and the
Moody Mile in Syracuse, New York. She lists her favorite drivers as Jeff
Heotzler, Jerry Higbie, Clinton Mills, Pete Van Nordt, and Kevin Colman. Miss

wearing of green at the racetrack.
The 5-foot 9-inch, green-eyed beauty lists her favorite hobbies as racing,
working on race cars, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, bowling and just plain kicking
back and relaxing. When she finds the opportunity to watch TV, she lists her
favorite shows as Grey's Anatomy, Speed Channel, and NASCAR racing. She is an
avid follower of the New York sports franchises, the New York Mets, New York
Rangers and the recently crowned Super-Bowl Champions the New York Giants. When
it comes to decide on her favorite foods, Miss Brinster lists pizza and fruit
with water being her favorite beverage of choice.
Miss Brinster is currently attending the Sussex County Community College with a
full scholarship on the basis of her graduating in the upper 20-per cent of her
senior high school class. She is undecided in regards to her plans after
graduating from college.
The staff and management at Accord Speedway wish Miss Brinster well at the

ACCORD SPEEDWAY NEWS
ACCORD, NY - Veteran Modified Star Richie Eurich Eyes Accord Dollars and 2008
Track Championship
By Steve Pados, Accord Media
Richie Eurich, the veteran Modified driving star residing in Warwick, New York,
made a triumphant return in 2007 to the Accord Speedway, a track by his own
admission had been off his weekly racing schedule since the late 1960's. Eurich,
a successful Modified campaigner since 1971, was seeking an additional night of
racing to his 2007 plans and began the season trying out the quick Accord
speedplant. Eurich adapted quite well to the "race to the walls" facility and
along with it became the first driver to wheel a Big Block powered race car to a
feature event win since Gary Palmer and his family took over the 46-year old
raceway seven years ago. Eurich backed up the win with a series of steady
performances that found him in the thick of the heating racing battles and
finishing a solid seventh in the final point standings at the Ulster County
speedplant.
Building on his great performance from a year ago and the increased boost in the
Accord purse offerings, Eurich is totally pumped up and looking forward to his
return to the weekly racing wars when the 2008 season commences at Accord on
April 18th. All Modified features at Accord in 2008 will offer $2,000.00 to win
and selected events will offer an even greater value as Promoter Gary Palmer
continues to raise the bar at the lightning quick quarter miler. Eurich will
return with the same 2003 Bicknell car he competed with last year at the
speedway and successfully utilized for a podium third place finish during the
Eastern States 200 at Orange County Fair Speedway last year to close out another
great season behind the wheel. Once again the race-car will have a JPM Big Block
powerplant fitted between the rails and the soft-spoken Eurich feels is the
combination needed to roar out of the blocks early to make a serious run at the
Accord track title won last year for the 10th-time by Rich Ricci Jr.
Eurich, entering his 31st year behind the wheel of a race car, will once again
engage in a twice a week racing schedule that will find him competing at Orange
County on Saturday nights. Eurich has a freshly minted 2008 Bicknell car with
JPM power for his Saturday night racing and hopes to improve on his 2007 OCFS
season that saw him finding the winners circle and finishing 6th in the final
point standings at the track. Longtime sponsors Collier Motorcars and Brush
Construction will help ease the financial burden of the two-night a week effort
and Lain's Auto Parts has come on-board to lend additional support to the team.
Longtime top-notch Crew Chief Dave Eurich will continue his meticulous
preparation of the racing equipment and has the added support of longtime
crewman Stanley Kaczmar as well. Dave and Brian Collier lend additional crew
help throughout the season.
Eurich, who won his first ever feature event win back in 1967 while driving in
the Sportsman division earned a Sportsman title at OCFS in 1970. In only his 6th
Big Block outing the following year, Eurich rolled to a Modified victory at
Orange County, a win that would kick-start a successful driving career that
would find Eurich winning the 1971 Modified title at the now defunct Nazareth
Speedway and earning three-Big Block titles at Orange County with the first
coming in 1981. Eurich followed up his first title with another championship in
1982 and would later add a third title in 1988. The 1988 season proved to be
especially rewarding for Eurich as he captured the Eastern States 200 the same
year, his one and only Eastern States triumph in his illustrious career.
While the work continues on the new improvements at Accord with the new season
just around the corner, the work has been slowed a bit by the harsh winter
weather dealt to the Hudson Valley of late. With the new track configuration
making the racing lanes wider and the 165 loads of virgin clay being added to
the raceway, the racing for 2008 will be spectacular from start to finish.
Increased banking in the turns will add to the new look the "Gem in the
Catskills" facility will feature in 2008. Additional improvements will be to the
bathrooms, the totally enlarged pit area that is almost completely sold out at
this writing, and the additional improvements to the already great concessions
with many new and creative new entrees being added for the fans.
The Palmer Family and their loyal staff look forward to the 2008 racing season
at Accord. With all systems pointing skyward, it is easy to understand the
interest and excitement the speedway is creating. The 2008 racing schedule is
posted on the Accord website and racing fans are encouraged to visit the site
and review all of the new offerings available including "Video on Demand".

their newly constructed website at:

Mountain Madness Enduro Series to utilize one-way scanners
Mountain Speedway management has announced that beginning with the March 15th
MMES enduro event, the use of one-way scanners will be implemented to relay red
and black flag situations occurring during Enduro events, in the name of safety.
With the yellow flag being set aside for enduro competition, events are only
halted for a dangerous, or red flag situation on the speedway. The black flag is
used to tell specific cars about a problem they need to address, such as leaking
gas, dragging bumpers or flat tires.
Racers will now be warned by the race director via the one-way scanner, in
addition to the flags being displayed.
“With safety on everyone’s mind these days, we have decided to utilize the
one-way scanners for our Enduro Series. It works well for our Saturday night
racing, so why not use it in the enduros.” stated co-promoter Mike Odwazny.
The inexpensive scanners can be purchased at various electronic outlets for less
than $50. For more info, call the speedway office at (570)384-3215.

For Immediate Release / February 23, 2008
Meitzler Family To Handle Full Kutztown Promotion In 2008
KUTZTOWN, PA - Timing is everything.
And right now, the timing is right for the Meitzler family to take full control
of the clay oval they've co-promoted for a decade - The Fairgrounds At Kutztown
Speedway.
In 2007, Danny Sammons joined Kerry Meitzler to co-promote the one-fifth-mile
track, which hosts summer, Wednesday-night 600cc Micro-Sprint, 270cc
Micro-Sprint and Slingshot racing in addition to special events.
While Sammons will remain on board as an advisor, the Meitzlers will now handle
full operations of the Kutztown, Pa., track.
"I really enjoyed working with the Meitzlers and all the racers at Kutztown,"
explained Sammons, who will be available to answer questions or offer advice
when needed for the Meitzlers. "The Meitzlers wanted to get more involved this
year, so they'll be handling everything."
The scenario also allows Sammons to spend more time at his full-time job at Area
Auto Racing News in Trenton, N.J., where he's been kept plenty busy with the
health-related absence of advertising director Joe Pratt.
"With Joe being out, it was going to be a lot," Sammons said. "Not having to be
at Kutztown every Wednesday will let me concentrate more on Area Auto."
The Meitzlers will re-evaluate the schedule Sammons had put together over the
off-season. Look for more information on Kutztown's '08 season to be released in
the near future.
Questions should be directed to Kerry Meitzler at: (610)-683-8234.
The Fairgrounds at Kutztown Speedway will be represented at the Reading Racing
Reunion & Car Show at The Fairgrounds Square Mall & Car Show in Reading, Pa.,

| MIS Announces Scholarship
Program for High School Students
American Speed Association Educational Series Comes to Speedway in 2008 By John Wells Madison International Speedway has teamed up with the American Speed Association Educational Series to bring an outstanding opportunity to the track for area youth. High school aged drivers and crew members at MIS can become eligible to win college scholarships to Ohio Technical College worth as much as $25,000. In 2008, students who are enrolled in high school and are racing or working as a crew member at Madison International Speedway can be eligible to win one of many scholarships. There will be six-$25,000 scholarships, 6- $12,000 scholarships, and 6- $6,000 scholarships available in 2008. In addition, every student that participates in the program will receive a $1500 scholarship for every year that they are involved in the series. To become eligible, all participants will be required to become an American Speed Association Educational Series member in 2008. MIS is the only track in the United States where drivers / crew members can be eligible for this program. Dave Grueneberg, MIS General Manager, is very excited about this program coming exclusively to his track. “We feel this program will introduce racing to a lot of young people who otherwise would not have an opportunity to experience this great sport. Young people need early involvement if a sport is to survive in these busy times. This coupled with the fact that these kids may be awarded one of six - $25,000 scholarships made available through this program is a great opportunity for them. These young people will be exposed to racing by working with one of our five weekly divisions racing at MIS this year: Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, Area Sportsman, Bandits, and Legends. We hope that this program is so successful that it can be continued for a long, long time.” Dr. Sue Holtz of Beloit, Wisconsin, has been named the Director of School Relations for the American Speed Association Educational Series. Dr. Holtz will work with high schools to promote and explain the program to districts involved. She will also serve as the series coordinator for scholarship awards and work with technical colleges to secure, direct and manage scholarships from those institutions. Pete Raskovic, co-founder of the series stated, “Dr. Holtz's thorough knowledge of vocational and technical education coupled with her love of motorsports made the decision an easy one. Sue has been working with Ohio Technical College and has secured over $350,000 in scholarships that the series will award in 2008 at the ASA member track, Madison International Speedway. We are extremely proud to be associated with Ohio Technical College as they are one of the industry's premier training institutions.” The American Speed Association Educational Series was developed to help bring youth into short-track racing and to provide students with a path to the motorsports or automotive repair industry. The Ohio Technical College scholarships may be applied towards tuition for study in the areas of Automotive, Diesel, and Powersport and Auto Body Technology. A point system will be established for each of the five weekly divisions at MIS. Students who are registered members of the ASAES will have an opportunity to win scholarships worth as much as $25,0000 depending on how their race team finishes. High school students who are drivers or crew members are eligible. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, Ohio Technical College (OTC) offers more than 25 technician training programs with facilities encompassing more than 500,000 square feet. The school dates back to 1969 when it began as the Ohio Diesel Mechanics School. For more information about OTC checkout their website at ohiotechnicalcollege.com. © Copyright 2007 Madison
