FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
BEDFORD RESULTS: SEVEN FEATURES AND FULL MOON MADNESS
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - The Super Late Models and Limited Late Models ran twin
feature races Friday night at Bedford speedway, and fans witnessed some of
the wildest racing and crashing they've seen all year. Shawn Claar earned
his first ever Super Late Model win at Bedford in the first 20 lap
feature, and Jeff Rine scored his third of the season in the second 20
lapper. In Limited Late Model action, Steve Bard earned his 2nd career
victory in the first 15 lap feature, and point leader Derek Byler won the
second feature. In other action, Daryl Whetstone won the Street Stock
feature, his first win at Bedford since 1978. Point leader Charlie Walter
earned his third victory of the season in the Hobby Stock class, and Mike
Lauffer continued his domination of the FWD four cylinder division,
winning his fifth of the year.
The Miller Auto Parts Super Late Model division struggled with the
extremely fast, smooth and tacky racing surface. It all started in heat
racing action when Chris Harr barrel rolled over top Tyler Ritchey in turn
two. Then, as evening arrived and the full moon rose in the sky, it was
evident to all on hand that it could be a long night. The first 20 lap
feature had Shawn Claar and Andy Martz on the front row, two cars looking
for their first Super Late Model win. Claar took the lead with Martz on
his heels, as the rest of the field battled for position, often times
three wide. Randy Burkholder, who caught and passed Scott Haus to win
their heat race by a mere 8 inches, was battling Wayne Johnson for fourth
in the feature when heavy contact was made at the end of the frontstretch.
Burkholder's car slammed the outside wall and flew up into the catch
fence. Both the fence and Burkholder's car received heavy damage. There
was a long delay as track crews repaired the fence and a green/yellow
light. When racing finally resumed, Claar ran the fast line and was able
to put some distance on Martz. Jeff Rine flew past Martz in turn four to
take over second and started to reel Claar in, but ran out of time to put
on any kind of pressure on Shawn. Following Claar, Rine, and Martz was
Brian Booze, and Scott Haus in fifth. Sixth through tenth went to Scott
Rhodes, Brian Bernheisel, Steve Everhart from the last place starting
position, Chuck Clise, and Jack Pencil. A pill draw on the frontstretch
determined the invert for the second feature, and Claar drew the number 4
pill. This put Brian Booze and Andy Martz on the front row. This race
would not go caution free either, but the damage was less severe. Matt
Sala tested the durability of the turn three yuke tire, ending his
evening. The only other incident was when Chuck Clise, Jeff Miller, and
Brian Bernheisel had a meeting on the turn three wall. Even though cars
were on top of each other, everyone continued except Clise. Andy Martz
grabbed the early lead, but Brian Booze quickly stole the position as
Martz faded. Jeff Rine, not satisfied with his second place finish in the
first feature, set his sights for the front, and grabbed the lead. Scott
Haus, Steve Everhart, Jack Pencil, and DJ Myers all found the highside to
their liking, and Haus worked past Booze into second. Everhart had a heart
stopping moment on the frontstretch when he got excellent bite coming off
of turn four. In sprint car fashion, the car pulled a wheelie, which is a
rarity in late model racing, forcing Everhart to leave off the gas. When
both front tires came back to earth he almost made contact with the
outside wall. Rine was fast, Haus was equally fast, and it was Rine taking
the checkered. Haus, Booze, Everhart and Pencil completed the top five. DJ
Myers came home sixth, from sixteenth, and Scott Rhodes, Andy Martz, Jeff
Miller, and Greg Fetters rounded out the top ten. Jeff Rine is the only
repeat winner all season in the division. Bernheisel and Burkholder won
the heat races.
Not to be outdone, the Bedford Valley Petroleum Limited Late Models raced
just as hard as the Super Late Models, but with more destruction. It all
started on the first lap of the first 15 lap feature. Chad McClellan made
contact with the outside wall going down the frontstretch. Chad, who
started on the second row, ended up sideways in front of the entire field.
In classic first lap frontstretch wrecking form, full speed racecars piled
into one another with hard impacts, with cars flipping, and piling on top
of each other as high as three cars deep. Remarkably, there were no
serious injuries, just some destroyed racecars. The crash involved
McClellan, Robbie Black, Howie Bussard, Rick Singleton, Brian Lowery,
Lincoln Ritchey, Travis Calhoun, Brandon Hoover, and Donnie Hedge.
McClellan, Singleton and Robbie Black's car were the only cars that were
repaired in time for the second feature. When racing resumed after a
lengthy cleanup under the full moon, Steve Bard jumped into the lead from
the pole position and never looked back. Bard took the win, his second of
the year, ahead of a hard charging Derek Byler, Tim Smith, Jr., Andy Teno,
and Craig Perigo. Bard drew the number 2 pill for the second 15 lap
feature, which put Byler on the pole. Byler, who's wife just had a baby
less than a week ago, made another August 2008 memory by winning the
feature. This time, nothing major happened and the race went through
quickly. The top five went to Byler, Tim Smith, Jr., Andy Teno, and Steve
Bard. Mike Shoemaker, Craig Perigo, Rick Singleton, George Beckett,
driving Robbie Black's car, and Chad McClellan completed the top ten.
Donnie Farlling and McClellan won the heat events.
Daryl Whetstone won the TC Racecars Street Stock feature, winning for the
first time at Bedford since he won two semi-late features 30 years ago.
Kerry Molovich led the first half of the race while Whetstone worked into
second from his fourth starting spot. Whetstone's car was hooked up, and
he took the lead from Molovich and never looked back. Following Whetstone
and Molovich at the checkered was Donald Wyles. However, Wyles received a
warning from tech during a postrace inspection. After much argument and
dispute over the warning, the warning was turned into a disqualification,
which gave third place to Bob Jay. Chris Chamberlain finished fourth, and
Scotty Grubb fifth. There were no heat races for the division.
Back to back winners have been frequent this year in the Ritchey
Sandblasting Hobby Stock division. Bill Replogle was going for his second
in a row until bad luck ended that hope. Replogle zoomed from his seventh
starting position into the lead until a mechanical malfunction sent him
pitside. Charlie Walter, who started tenth, found himself in the lead, and
had to battle division veteran Chuck Weyant for the win. Walter prevailed,
over Weyant, Reed Stickel, Jr., Ryan Beckett, and Kevin Brown. Sixth
through tenth went to Travis Group, Jarrod Brown, Alicia LeGros, Don
Imler, and Preston Imler. There were no heat races for the division.
Mike Lauffer scored his fifth victory in the Thomas Chevrolet FWD four
cylinder class. Cindy Rhodes led for much of the event, but Lauffer was
too strong for anyone, winning by a several car lengths. Ed Vogel, Lonnie
McKenzie, Juan Ryan, and Cindy Rhodes completed the top five. There were
no heat races for the division.
Racing resumes on Friday, August 22nd for Super Late Models, Limited Late
Models, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, and FWD four cylinders. This will be
the final point race for the Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, and four
cylinders. Coming Friday August 29th is the World of Outlaw Super Late
Models, along with $1,000 to win Limited Late Models, and fireworks.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MYERS WINS FROM MID PACK; BYLER AND BLACK WIN LIMITEDS
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - A full slate of action was jam packed into one evening
Friday at the Bedford Speedway, and the action was intense all night long.
A make-up feature, and a regular 5 division show plus kids bike races put
a pinch on track officials to keep things rolling, and luckily things did
move along at a good pace. The night started off with a make up Limited
Late Model feature from July 31st. Derek Byler showed the way all race and
won his second career Bedford Valley Petroleum Limited Late Model feature.
DJ Myers won his fourth career Bedford win in the Miller Auto Parts Super
Late Models main event. Robbie Black returned to victory lane for the
first time in several years to win the regularly scheduled Limited Late
Model race, and Jim Sayler won his third TC Race Cars Street Stock feature
of the year. Bill Replogle won his first ever Ritchey Sandblasting Hobby
Stock feature, and Dave Lambert scored his first ever win in the Thomas
Chevrolet FWD four cylinders.
For the first time all season, the Miller Auto Parts Super Late models did
not have a full field. Nineteen cars entered the event, and Wayne Johnson
started on the outside pole of the feature event and blasted into the
lead. Johnson, a weekly racer who was looking for his first win in three
years, ran right against the cushion to take a comfortable lead for most
of the race over Chris Harr until Harr went pitside with a broken shock. A
few drivers who started mid pack put a charge on for the front, and it was
DJ Myers who passed Greg Fetters and found himself in second, taking away
Johnson's comfort zone in quick fashion. Scott Haus, Matt Lux, and Jack
Pencil were also on the move, with Pencil coming from last place. Myers
dogged Johnson for several laps, and with five laps to go, Johnson hopped
the cushion in turn three, leaving the track wide open for Myers to slip
by for the lead. Once in the lead, Myers kept Johnson at bay and took the
victory. Johnson settled for a second place finish, and Jeff Miller
finished third. Scott Haus started 14th, and was in third place on the
final lap in turn four, but ended up losing the position and finishing
fourth. Invader Matt Lux came from tenth to finish fifth, and Greg Fetters
ended up sixth. Jack Pencil came from last place to take home seventh, and
Steve Everhart, Tyler Hershey, and Scott Rhodes completed the top ten. Lux
and Fetters won the heats.
Derek Byler has been a rocketship all season, and starting on the pole in
the make up Limited Late Model feature was easy money. The race was ran
right after hot laps, and Byler led every lap to win the $1,000 prize.
Rick Singleton was second, Howie Bussard third, Jerry Bard fourth, and
Dylan Yoder fifth. Rounding out the top ten was Robbie Black, Chad
McClellan, John Hedge, Donnie Farlling, and Shaun Jones. Yoder, Jerry
Bard, and Brian Lowery won the heats back on July 31st.
Rockin' Robbie Black scored his second career Bedford victory in the
regularly scheduled Limited Late Model event, holding back none other than
Rick Singleton, who ended up scoring two second place finishes on the
night. Black's car was on a rail, and never faced a serious challenge the
entire race. At the line it was Black, Singleton, and Mike Shoemaker.
Derek Byler tried to go two for two in the win column, fighting his was
through the pack from seventeenth, but the race would end with him in
fourth. Howie Bussard finished fifth, and Andy Teno, Lincoln Ritchey,
Jerry Bard, Chad McClellan, and John Hedge completed the top ten. Craig
Wagaman's new unlucky number is 26. Wagaman, who had a nice run going, was
involved in an accident with the 26 car of Shaun Jones in turn four.
Several laps later, as Wagaman was coming back through the field, the
other 26 car of Jerry Bard sent Wagaman into a spin in turn four, ending
Wagaman's night. The heat winners for the evening were Black, Shoemaker,
and Lincoln Ritchey.
It was a feature only night the Street Stocks since there were only 10
cars on hand, and Jimmy Sayler came all the from 9th to take his 13th
career win at Bedford. Kerry Molovich led for much of the race, searching
for his first win since 2004, but Sayler found the right line coming off
of turn four and soured Molovich's bid for a win. Bob Jay hounded Sayler
all the way until the last lap when Jay suffered a right front flat and
limped across the line in seventh. Chris Chamberlain crossed the line in
second, Donald Wyles third, Molovich faded to fourth, and Dave Brown was
fifth.
Bill Replogle has been winning heat races all season, and has been a
regular fixture in the second and third scoring spot in the Hobby Stock
division. Replogle, driving the familiar Pork Sell owned number 65,
finally got that first win, and in dramatic fashion. The Hobby Stock's are
never ones to put on a boring show, and Friday was typical Hobby Stock
madness. Rough driving put two cars on the trailer early, several cautions
for spins and crashes made for another long feature. Point leader Charlie
Walter stayed in front of all the melee, leading the race until the final
lap when Replogle, who lost the lead earlier to Walter, put forth a great
effort coming off of turn four, and drag raced Walter to the checkered. It
was Replogle taking his that coveted first win by a nose over Walter, with
Chuck Weyant, Ryan Beckett, and Joe Railey completing the top five.
Rounding out the top ten was Kevin Brown, Tyler Ritchey, Reed Stickel,
Jr., Jarrod Brown, and Christine Stickley. Stickel, a recipient of some
dirty driving, made a nice come back to regain some points and a top ten
finish. Walter, Replogle, and Brandon LaSalle won the heat events.
Two drivers have dominated the four cylinder class this season, with Mike
Lauffer and Ed Vogel getting greedy with the first place trophies. For the
first time this season, a different driver graced victory lane - Dave
Lambert. Dave started second and led flag to flag to score the victory
over Jeff Treece, Dwain Rhodes, Mike Lauffer, and Scott Caron. Sixth
through tenth went to Cindy Rhodes, Paul Crynock, Jr., Bill Noll, Juan
Ryan, and David Green. Noll and Ed Vogel won the heats.
It's another big night at the Bedford Speedway this Friday, August 15th.
The Super Late Models will be racing twin 20 lap features, and the Limited
Late Models will be running twin 15 lap features. The Street Stocks, Hobby
Stocks, and FWD Four Cylinders will also be on hand running features only.
Regular qualifying events will be held for the two late model divisions.
Also, the very popular kid's car rides will be held at 6:30. Hot laps will
be at 7pm, with racing at 7:30.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
RHODES VICTORIOUS IN BEDFORD FAIR RACE
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - A capacity crowd filled the fairgrounds for Bedford's annual
Great Bedford Fair race, and the pits were jam packed. The fair race,
dedicated to the memory of long time fairboard member Dick Koontz, was
sponsored by C. Paul Ford and Protective Coatings of Pa. Scott Rhodes won
his first Bedford Super Late Model feature in over two years, claiming his
19th career win. Steve Bard scored his first ever Bedford victory in the
Limited Late Models, and Brian Duffy won his 14th career Bedford Street
Stock feature. Charlie Walter took top honors in the Hobby Stocks, and
Mike Lauffer won his fourth FWD 4-Cylinder event of the season.
With so many Bedford winners using the top of the track to claim
victories, Scott Rhodes proved this week that the bottom is good too.
Rhodes led every lap, fending off challenges from Greg Fetters, and later
in the race Mike Altobelli, Jr. Rhodes took the checkered ahead of
Altobelli, Fetters, Chris Harr, and Steve Everhart. Randy Burkholder,
newcomer JT Spence, Wayne Johnson, Nick Dickson, and Shawn Claar completed
the top ten for the 25 car field. Altobelli, DJ Troutman, and Everhart won
the qualifying events. Point leader Scott Haus was not in attendance due
to a vacation, relinquishing the point lead to Steve Everhart. Brian Booze
was also vacationing, and Limited Late Model driver Mike Shoemaker ran the
Gill owned # 55 in Brian's place.
Steve Bard was a happy racer in victory lane after winning his first at
Bedford in the Limited Late Model division. Bard held off Donnie Farlling
to take the win. Following Farlling was Derek Byler, George Beckett, and
Chad McClellan. Sixth through tenth went to Tim Smith, Jr., Mike
Shoemaker, Robbie Black, Howie Bussard, and Craig Perigo. Thirty cars
started the feature on a slicker than usual Bedford surface, and 21 cars
finished. McClellan, Byler, and Shoemaker won the heats.
Brian Duffy waited until the big fair race to score his first victory of
the season in the Street Stock class. A big pile up on the first lap in
turn 4 eliminated three of the divisions heavy hitters, and damaged
several other cars. Bill Henney, Dave Brown, and Rick Potter (filling in
for son Ricky) were eliminated in the crash, Donald Wyles and Jim Sayler
suffered heavy damage, but were able to continue racing. Duffy, who
started third, took the lead on the restart and held off Chris Chamberlain
for the win. Chamberlain finished a solid second, with Darryl Whetstone,
Bob Jay, and Scotty Grubb rounding out the top five. Sixth through tenth
went to Billy Ecton, Jr., Jim Sayler, David Whetstone, Donald Wyles, and
Bill Pluta. Sayler and Duffy won the heats.
The Hobby Stock division must've enjoyed the large crowd, because they
wanted to stay in the spotlight all night long. The race was finally
declared over several laps early after the division had seven cautions in
just nine laps of racing. Charlie Walter came from his 8th starting spot
to claim his third career Bedford win, holding back weekly front runner
Bill Replogle. Tyler Ritchey finished third, newcomer Jake Gongloff was
fourth, and Ryan Beckett fifth. Mandy Jay, Jason Gilliland, Jarrod Brown,
Ray Shepherd, and Brandon LaSalle completed the top ten. Gilliland, Reed
Stickel, Jr., and Chuck Weyant won the heat events.
Mike Lauffer is one tough customer in the FWD 4-Cylinder class. Lauffer's
win Friday night was his fourth of the season, and there have only been 6
races for the division. Dave Lambert finished second, and was followed by
Dwain Rhodes, Juan Ryan, and Bill Noll. Sixteen cars were on hand, a
season high for the division. For the first time, heats were rain for the
4-cylinders, and Dwain Rhodes and Lauffer took the wins.
Bedford Speedway will be back in action this Thursday, July 31st for the
LUCAS OIL Late Model show that was rained out on April 25th. Sixty-one
cars have rain checks for the event, and with the series staying in the
area all weekend, a large car count is expected again for the make up show
on Thursday. The Limited Late Models will also be on hand for $1,000 to
win. Bedford will be off on Friday, August 1st, and will return with a 5
division show and kid's bike races on August 8th.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
COVERT WINS IRS SHOW FROM DEEP IN THE PACK
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - The Independent Racing Series made it's first ever visit to
the Bedford Speedway Friday evening, and it ended up being one of the best
shows of the year. A first time winner, a new track record, and a win from
deep in the field sent fans home with a smile. Jason Covert won the $
5,000 Super Late Model 50 lapper, coming all the way from his 17th
starting spot. Mike Shoemaker picked up his second win of the season in
the Bedford Valley Petroleum Limited Late Models, earning a $1,000 for his
effort. Chuck Weyant won his second feature of the year in the Ritchey
Sandblasting Hobby Stocks, earning double the regular purse.
There were 37 Super Late Models in the pits for the IRS 50 lap $ 5,000 to
win event, and things started with a bang when Jeremy Miller set a new one
lap track record of 19.778 seconds, beating the old record by more than 2
tenths set by Steve Francis at last year's Outlaw show in September. Jason
Covert had a dismal start to his evening. After turning a good time during
time trials, Covert wasn't able to start his heat race, which relegated
him to the back of the first b-main. Starting eleventh, Covert zoomed to
the front to take the win, lining him up 17th for the main event. Gary
Stuhler and Donnie Moran made up the front row for the 25 car field, and
when the green flag dropped for the 50 lap main event, it was Moran who
sailed off into the lead. Third starting Jeremy Miller removed Stuhler
from second, and that's how the three ran when the caution came out on lap
eight for a Greg Fetter spin. As the field restarted with Moran alone out
front, and the rest of the field two by two for the Delaware restart, a
hard crash in turn four ended the evening for Steve Everhart and Tyler
Hershey, and defending track champ Jack Pencil suffered damage that
eventually soured his evening. Everhart nearly rolled, with his badly
damaged mount resting on top of the severely damaged car of Tyler Hershey.
When the red flag was put away and racing resumed, Jason Covert was
already up to eleventh. With 20 laps down, Moran still held a comfortable
lead over Jeremy Miller, Doug Horton, Stuhler, home track favorite Jeff
Rine, Covert in sixth, Dave Hess, Jr., Bo Feathers, and Jeff Miller. When
the caution flew on lap 25, Covert had just passed Stuhler and was now in
the third position. Four laps later, Covert went by Miller for second, and
then another red flag incident occurred when Greg Fetters and Steve
Wilmoth's cars were heavily damaged in turn two. At this point, track
officials called for a fuel stop to eliminate any late race fuel issues.
When racing resumed, Moran ran the bottom fast and smooth as Covert worked
the top and tried to find just the right time and place to make his move.
With six laps to go, the caution flew when Dave Hess dropped out of the
top ten with a flat tire. When the green flew again, Covert wasted little
time, and with five to go he flew past Moran and rocketed into a huge
lead. A late race caution bunched the field one last time, but Covert
would have no part of a challenge from Moran. Covert took another
commanding lead, winning his first ever feature event at Bedford Speedway.
Jeremy Miller snagged the second spot from Moran with two to go,
relegating Moran to third. Gary Stuhler finished fourth, and Doug Horton
had a great run, finishing fifth. DJ Myers, Jeff Rine, Jeff Miller, Matt
Parks, and Scotty Haus completed the top ten. Heat race winners were
Robbie Blair, Stuhler, Moran, and local favorite Chris Harr. Covert and
Steve Everhart won the b-mains, and regional superstar Gary Stuhler won
the five lap dash.
Mike Shoemaker came from his seventh starting spot to win his second
Limited Late Model feature of the season, and his 14th career win at
Bedford. Pole sitter Brian Lowery held the top spot for much of the race,
until Shoemaker tracked him down at took the lead. Lowery held second
until the final lap, when Rick Singleton, who started 12th, passed Lowery
in the final turn. Unfortunately for Lowery, his great run was eliminated
when he was penalized for a post race on track violation, which scored him
in the last place position of 26th. With Shoemaker earning the $1,000, and
Singleton second, Lowery's penalty moved Derek Byler into third, Donnie
Farlling fourth, and Tim Smith finished fifth. Rounding out the top ten
was Mike Duck, Craig Perigo, Travis Calhoun, Andy Fries, and Rance Garlock.
Only five cars were eliminated from the race, with three of them suffering
damage in one crash in turn four. Heat race winners were Andy Fries,
Shoemaker, and Derek Byler.
Chuck Weyant won his 12th career Bedford Hobby Stock feature in the Friday
nightcap, winning a close one with Charlie Walter in tow. Bill Replogle
finished third, Brandon LaSalle finished fourth, and Ryan Beckett fifth.
Charlie Walter and Steve Fadley won the heats.
The Bedford Speedway will not be racing this coming Friday as the grounds
will be prepared for the Great Bedford Fair. Then, on Friday, July 25th,
all five divisions will be on hand for the 2nd annual Dick Koontz Memorial
Fair race. This race is always a favorite for the drivers, as they'll be
competing in front of what has always been a huge crowd year after year.
The fair race is also a large part of the track's history, as the first
race ever at the speedway was a fair race 72 years ago. Also coming soon
is the Paul Beamer Memorial Lucas Oil $7,000 to win Super Late Model make
up race on Thursday, July 31st. Sixty-one cars have rain checks for this
event, which was rained out on April 25th. The Limited Late Models will
also be on hand, racing for $1,000 to win.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
PENCIL IMPRESSIVE IN BEDFORD WIN
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - Jack Pencil put on a phenomenal performance Friday evening
at the Bedford Speedway, claiming his 21st career Miller Auto Parts Super
Late Model win at the fast oval. Chad McClellan picked up his second win
of the season in the Bedford Valley Petroleum Limited Late Models, which
was a very meaningful win for Chad and crew as the Bowman family owned #
31 still mourns the loss of car owner Bill Bowman, who passed away a few
weeks ago. Jim Sayler won the TC Street Stocks 20 lap double purse
feature, and Chuck Weyant won his first of the year in the Ritchey
Sandblasting Hobby Stocks. Mike Lauffer took home top honors in the Thomas
Chevrolet FWD 4 Cylinders.
Wayne Johnson and Andy Martz led the 27 car field to the green in the
super late model main event, and Andy Martz immediately took the lead.
Martz, who was looking for his first ever Super Late Model win, held the
third starting car of Greg Fetters at bay and appeared that he could get
that coveted first win. As Martz fended off Fetters, it was total
synchronized chaos behind. The entire field was battling two and three
wide lap after lap, with several cars coming to the front, including
eventual winner Jack Pencil. Fetters finally got by Martz to take the
lead, and Martz's mount went sour as he ended up losing several positions.
Pencil, who was utilizing the high groove, caught race leader Fetters, who
also was looking to pick up his first Bedford Super Late Model win. With
12 laps to go, Pencil made the move coming off of turn 2, and had the lead
by the time the pair got to turn three. Steve Everhart also used the
highside to his advantage, and by race end he was looking to snag second
from Fetters. Fetters held the position firmly though, and followed Pencil
across the finish line. Everhart took home third, Brian Booze came from
his eleventh starting spot to finish fourth, and DJ Myers finished fifth.
Pole sitter Wayne Johnson finished sixth, Jeff Miller seventh, from 15th,
Scott Haus finished eighth, Jeff Rine ninth, and Randy Burkholder tenth.
Pencil, Fetters, and Myers won the qualifying events.
Chad McClellan scored his second Limited Late Model win of the season
Friday, and he won in dominating fashion. Brian Lowery jumped into the
lead at the fall of the green flag, and led for several laps before Steve
Bard took the top spot away. McClellan, using the high groove, stole the
lead from Bard, and led comfortably the entire race. MIke Shoemaker, Derek
Byler, and Rick Singleton were all on the move from their mid pack
starting positions, with Shoemaker coming home second, Byler third,
Singleton fourth, and Bard settling for fifth. Howie Bussard, Tyler
Armstrong, Lowery, Andy Teno, and Craig Perigo completed the top ten.
McClellan, Bard, and Byler won the heats.
Fourteen cars started the 20 lap double purse special for the Street
Stocks, and at the end, only 5 cars looked the same way as they started. A
huge pile up at the start of the race eliminated several cars, and forced
weekly threat Bob Jay to go six laps down. With the race slowed several
times for other cautions, race leader Brian Duffy held on as Jim Sayler
knocked at the door. Sayler made the pass, but Duffy wasn't going away.
Chris Chamberlain joined the hunt for the lead, taking the second spot
from Duffy and while making a bid for the lead, spun his #31 in turn 3.
Sayler held on for the big win, with Duffy second. Chamberlain rebounded
to regain third at the end, Donald Wyles was fourth, and Bill Pluta, Jr.
finished fifth. A scary moment happened on the frontstretch about half way
into the event when Joe Pluta's car exploded into a huge fireball.
Luckily, Pluta exited the car safely. Heat races were won by Sayler and
Jay.
Chuck Weyant makes victory lane a regular stop on a yearly basis in the
Hobby Stock division, but this season he's been a stranger. Until Friday.
Weyant, who won 5 features last year, followed Travis Group for a couple
laps before making the winning pass. Much like the street stocks, the
hobby stocks just couldn't get things going cleanly. A turn 2 crash took
out several top competitors. Then, with 7 laps to go, and seven long
cautions later, several cars made contact with the turn three wall after
Reed Stickel broke a driveshaft, soared into the air, and slammed back
onto the track surface with tremendous force. Stickel needed medical
attention, and race officials decided it was a good time to just end the
seemingly marathon long race with seven laps to go. Weyant took the win
ahead of Charlie Walter, Bill Replogle, Jason Gilliland, and Travis Group.
Weyant and Group won the heats for the 20 car field.
Mike Lauffer picked up his third career Bedford win in the front wheel
drive four cylinders, holding off Bill Noll and Scott Caron for the win.
Juan Ryan and Jim Will, Jr. completed the top five. The division had a
season high 11 cars, and hopes are that the division will continue to grow
and be a strong entry level racing division in the area. No heats were ran
due to the track policy that 14 cars must be present in any division for
any heat races to occur.
This Friday, June 27th, the AMA National Flat Track Championships will be
held for the first time ever at Bedford Speedway. It's a busy weekend,
because Sunday the 410 sprint cars return for the Bedford leg of the PA
Speedweeks event. Monday is the raindate for the Sprint cars. Check out
www.bedfordspeedway.com for event times and other information.

JUNE 06, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MILLER AND TENO FIRST TIME WINNERS AT BEDFORD
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - Jeff Miller and Andy Teno both took advantage of a superb
racing surface to earn their first career Bedford wins in their respective
divisions. Although both drivers have won in other divisions at the track,
Jeff Miller was very excited about his first Bedford win in the Miller
Auto Parts Super Late Models, and Andy Teno was ecstatic about his first
Bedford Valley Petroleum Limited Late Model win. Invader Bill Henney won
the TC Race Cars Street Stock feature, and Charlie Walter won a wild
Ritchey Sandblasting Hobby Stock feature. Ed Vogel pulled off his second
win in a row in the Thomas Chevrolet FWD 4 cylinders.
Jeff Miller certainly had to work to earn his first Bedford Super Late
Model victory, and for much of the race it appeared that Greg Fetters
would be the driver to earn his first win. Fetters, who started on the
pole, immediately took control of the race when the field restarted after
a first lap crash involving Wayne Johnson and Shawn Claar. Miller, who
started fourth, soon found himself in second as the front pair left the
main pack of cars by a slight distance. The mid-pack racing was ferocious,
with two and sometimes three wide racing. Jack Pencil piloted his machine
with a controlled wildness, slamming his car high, deep and hard into the
corners, which was surely worth the price of admission. Pencil started in
the sixth position, and with some very hard work had earned the third
spot. Unfortunately, the car just gave out with three laps to go, sending
Pencil limping pitside for the evening. At the front of the pack, it was
Fetters in control for much of the race, but as the front tier started to
encounter some lapped traffic, Jeff Miller found himself closer and closer
to the top position. Giving Fetters several looks, Miller finally made the
winning pass coming off of turn four and assumed control of the race.
Fetters backslide didn't end there, as a hard charging Steve Everhart took
over the second spot, and eventually Mike Altobelli nabbed third. At the
finish, it was Miller, Everhart, Altobelli, Fetters, Scott Rhodes, and Ron
Delano sixth. Jeff Rine and Scott Haus ran side by side for what seemed
like an eternity, with Rine taking seventh at the checkered. Following
Haus was the impressive rookie division driver Randy Burkholder in 9th,
coming from his 18th starting position, and rounding out the top 10 was
another impressive division rookie Tyler Hershey. Bo Feathers, Pencil, and
Miller won the qualifying events for the 25 car field.
Andy Teno couldn't have won his first Limited Late Model feature in a more
dramatic fashion. A last lap, pedal to the floor on the highside pass
coming off of turn four. Official word from the scorers was an approximate
six inch margin of victory over Derek Byler. Byler, proving to all that he
truly is a professional, gave it his all, but at the same time kept his
committed line on the low side. Instead of trying to slide up and pinch
Teno off, Byler said "let's drag race for it", and unfortunately for the
driver of the 5*, Byler came up inches short. It was a great race from
start to finish throughout the field, and George Beckett held the early
lead from his second starting spot. The first caution of the event was for
Michael Stiffler, who took a hard hit on the outside wall coming out of
turn two. Once Stiffler's severely damaged number 17 was cleared from the
track, the racing was fast and dicey. Beckett's bid for the win ended
after Derek Byler took the lead, and Beckett went pitside when oil from an
overflow coated his right rear, making traction nearly impossible.
Following Teno and Byler at the checkered, it was frequent victory lane
visitor Mike Shoemaker, Robbie Black, and last week's winner Rick
Singleton in fifth. Hard chargers Tim Smith, Jr., Howie Bussard, and
Travis Stickley came from deep in the pack to secure sixth through eighth,
Brian Lowery ninth, and Chad McClellan working his way up to tenth from
his 23rd starting position. Heat winners for the 24 cars were Singleton,
Black, and Byler.
Bill Henney picked up his third career win in the Street Stock division,
using the highside to advance eight positions for the win. Brian Duffy,
who led for several laps, had to work hard to defend the spot from Daryl
Whetstone, and Bob Jay recovered from a turn four scrape with Chris
Chamberlain to finish fourth. Kerry Molovich completed the top five. With
only 11 cars on hand, heat races were scrapped due to the 14 cars minimum
rule to merit heat racing.
Charlie Walter earned his second career victory in the Hobby Stock
division, holding off division veteran Chuck Weyant and Jason Gilliland in
a tight finish. Division rookie Travis Group led for several laps until
things got a little dicey coming off of turn four. Group got crossed up in
a 5 car battle for the lead, hit the inside berm motocross style, made a
miraculous save, and lost very little track position. Unfortunately,
Derrick Hinish and Bill Replogle met misfortune heading down the
frontstretch, with Hinish's ride taking the most punishment from the
outside wall. With both cars retired to the pits, the battle for the lead
was in the hands of recent high school graduate Charlie Walter, Weyant,
and Gilliland. Weyant let it all hang out, getting to Walter's door coming
off of four several laps in a row. The final lap was no different, but it
was Walter who came home victorious. The phrase you could've threw a
blanket over them would describe the finish, with Weyant getting credit
for second, and Gilliland third. Or so it appeared. Gilliland's best
Bedford finish was erased when the car failed the post race tech
inspection. This put Brandon LaSalle in the third position, after a great
effort coming from his sixteenth starting spot. Steve Fadley and Mike
Siegele completed the top five. Sixth through tenth went to Mandy Jay,
Justin Milburn, Travis Group, RT Troutman, and Racin' Ray Shepherd. Heat
winners were Group and Derrick Hinish.
Ed Vogel made it two in a row in the front wheel drive 4-cylinder class,
holding back Davey Lambert and Scott Caron for the win. First time Bedford
visitor Dwain Rhodes finished fourth, and two time winner Mike Lauffer
fifth. Juan Ryan, Cindy Rhodes, David Green, Jeff Treece, and Irvin
Fleegle completed the top ten. There were no heats for the 11 car field.
Next Friday, June 13th is a five division show brought to you by Miller
Auto Parts. The Miller Auto Parts Super Lates, Bedford Valley Petroleum
Limited Lates, TC Race Cars Street Stocks, Ritchey Sandblasting Hobby
Stocks, and Thomas Chevrolet FWD 4-Cylinders will all be on hand to try
and repeat the great show from this week. The Street Stocks will be
running a special double purse 20 lap feature event. Things will start to
get hot at the end of the month, with AMA Nationals motorcycle racing on
Friday, June 27th, and the return of the amazing 410 sprint cars on
Sunday, June 29th for the second leg of the PA Speedweek event. Things
won't cool off in July, as the Independent Racing Series for Super Late
Models make their first appearance on the 11th, the annual Great Bedford
Fair race on the 25th, and the rescheduled Lucas Oil show on the 31st,
where 61 cars were signed in the pits for the rained out event.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
RINE MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - It was a great evening Friday at the Bedford Speedway, as
the Super Late Models and Limited Lates ran topless on a beautiful
evening, and a super smooth racing surface. Jeff Rine won his second
feature in a row in the Miller Auto Parts Super Late Models, and Rick
Singleton won his third career Bedford Valley Petroleum Limited Late Model
feature. Bob Jay won a monumental TC Race Cars Street Stock feature,
becoming the speedway’s all-time street stock feature winner, and Derek
Hinish continued his hot street by winning his second Ritchey Sandblasting
Hobby Stock feature of the year. Ed Vogel was victorious in the Thomas
Chevrolet FWD 4 Cylinders, his first feature win ever at any speedway.
Jeff Rine wasted little time finding Bedford’s victory lane. After
triumphing in his first ever MACS win last week, Jeff started on the pole
and led every lap to win his 5th career Bedford Super Late Model feature.
Rine led comfortably for much of the race, sustaining some pressure from
Greg Fetters early on. The real battle was from fifth place on, as several
cars duked it out the entire race. Scott Haus, DJ Myers, Randy Burkholder,
Nick Dickson, and Jack Pencil (before Pencil retired with 14 laps to go)
put on quite a show for the Bedford fans. As Rine held the point on the
restart for Pencil, third place Chris Harr started to work on Fetters for
second. Harr slipped under Fetters coming off of turn 4, and at the finish
it was Rine, Harr, DJ Myers, and Scott Haus. Darryl Burkholder finished
sixth, and was followed by Nick Dickson, Mike Altobelli, Jr., Jeff Miller,
and Steve Everhart. Heat winners were the 26 entries were Haus, Tyler
Hershey, and Jack Pencil.
The Limited Late Models stole the glory Friday, as they put on a
tremendous show. Pole Sitter Brian Lowery grabbed the early lead, after
going 3 wide through turns 1 and 2 with Steve Bard and Craig Perigo.
Lowery led the first couple laps until Perigo pulled along side and the
pair raced side by side until Perigo pulled ahead. Meanwhile, the racing
behind the front two was intense. Side by side, sometimes three wide, the
biggest movers were Mike Shoemaker and Rick Singleton. With both cars
using the high side, Singleton charged out of the pack and into first from
his eighth starting position. Shoemaker, who started twelfth, followed
suit, and found himself up to second. Singleton held on to win his third
career Bedford Limited Late feature. Shoemaker came home with a solid
second, Tim Smith, Jr. third, Robbie Black fourth, and Perigo fifth. The
rest of the pack waited until the checkered to sort things out, and ended
with Lowery sixth, followed by Andy Teno, Derek Byler, Chad McClellan, and
George Beckett. Heats were won by Smith, Jr., Allen Lemin, and John Hedge.
Bob Jay picked up his 23rd career Street Stock win, overtaking Kevin
Weyant as Bedford's all-time Street Stock feature winner. It seems that it
never matters where Bob Jay starts, because he's always at or near the
front by race end. This week, Jay started eighth, but winning was not an
easy task. Brian Duffy grabbed the early lead, until Darryl Whetstone
decided to make a bid for the lead. The pair ran side by side for several
laps until Whetstone earned the top position. Whetstone's lead didn't last
long however, as Bob Jay was riding the top side right to the front. Jay
and Whetstone also ran side by side for two or three laps, with Whetstone
refusing to go away quietly. Eventually, Jay took over the lead, and
pulled away. Whetstone and Brian Duffy crashed in turn one, ending both
drivers good night. At the end it was Jay, Donald Wyles, Scott Grubb in
his best ever Bedford finish, Chris Chamberlain, and Tom Spangler. There
were 12 cars in the pits, which did not meet the required 14 cars to
warrant a heat race.
Derrick Hinish is the man to beat in Hobby Stock action. Derrick started
9th and came right to the front, winning his 9th career Bedford feature.
Jason Gilliland led for several laps until Charlie Walter took over the
position, but it wasn't long until Hinish took the spot and check out.
Walter hung on for second, followed by Bill Replogle, Reed Stickel, Jr.,
and Gilliland. Sixth through tenth went to Brandon LaSalle, Ryan Beckett,
Jeff Shoemaker, Carl Snare, and Mike Siegele. Heat winners were Hinish and
Replogle.
The 4 cylinder class managed to match their season high car count of 10,
and for the first time, there was a new face in victory lane. Ed Vogel
took his first career win, and was followed by two time Bedford winner
Mike Lauffer, who almost drove the wheels off his car trying to catch
Vogel. Davey Lambert was third, Juan Ryan fourth, and Jeff Treece fifth.
There were no heat races due to having less than 14 cars.
Next week at the speedway is a 5 division show consisting of Miller Auto
Parts Super Late Models, Bedford Valley Petroleum Limited Late Models, TC
Race Cars Street Stocks, Ritchey Sandblasting Hobby Stocks, and Thomas
Chevrolet FWD 4 Cylinders. It's also ARCH night, with members getting two
dollars off the general admission. Gates open at 5pm, with hot laps at
7pm.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
JEFF RINE EARNS FIRST CAREER MACS WIN IN BEDFORD TRIUMPH
From the MACS website, with additions by Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - It’s been a long time coming for Danville, PA’s Jeff Rine to
claim his career first MACS victory worth $5,000 in the “TC Warehouse Late
Model Spring Championship’ at the Keifer Motorsport promoted Bedford
Speedway, Bedford, PA. Rine has been close to winning a Mid-Atlantic
Championship Series event on numerous occasions, but on this night, he was
not to be denied as he lead all 50 laps.
World of Outlaws Late Model Series standout Rick Eckert and Rine led the
anxious 26-car starting field to green with Eckert gaining a slight
advantage as the thundering field barreled out of turn two. Eckert’s lead
was negated though as Randy Burkholder’s mount spun to a stop in turn
three. Rick and Jeff again brought the pack out of turn four with Rine
finally gaining the upper-hand after a drag down the back chute with
Eckert.
Rine stretched his lead to over ten car length’s by the seventh circuit
but that is when Eckert and his C.J. Rayburn Chassis found a line that
would close the gap by lap 10. As Eckert closed on the leader, Rine closed
in on lapped traffic.
By lap 12, Rine was dealing with lapped traffic as ‘Scrub’ patiently
waited for an opportunity to shuffle the leader to second. The lead duo
methodically worked their way through traffic while third and fourth place
contestants, reigning MACS Champion, Jason Covert and Gary Stuhler slowly
inched their way closer.
Eckert looked both inside and outside of Rine but couldn’t find an opening
big enough to make his move on the leader. Rick’s assault was slowed on
lap 22 for 2008 AlturnaMATS® Rookie of the Year candidate Ron Delano Jr.
came to a halt in turn four.
During the ensuing Delaware style restart, Covert blew by Eckert into
second, but that effort was thwarted by a spin for Steve Everhart. Rine
again brought the field down for the green and once again Covert vaulted
into second. Eckert then uncharacteristically pushed up track in turn two
letting Stuhler slide by into third. Stuhler then turned up the wick on
Covert for second. Jason and Gary battled side-by-side through turns three
and four with Stuhler taking the position away.
Just as the leaders passed the start finish line, Bo Feathers, Scott
LeBarron, Doug Horton, and Jack Pencil all got together coming out of the
fourth corner to bring out the third caution. The single-file restart had
Rine pulling Covert, Stuhler, Eckert and 12th place starter Scott Haus to
the green. Haus used the high line to get around Eckert for fourth and
carried his momentum down the long Bedford Speedway backstretch to get
along side of Covert for third. Covert was able to fend off Haus
challenges for the position as Eckert blasted underneath Haus. Eckert,
just like Haus, used his momentum to snag fourth while pulling to Covert’s
door panel for third. Eckert finally had the set-up he wanted, making the
pass relegating Covert to fourth just as another AlturnaMATS Rookie of the
Year contender, Mike Altobelli Jr. spun in turn two.
With 28 laps in, it was still Rine leading the way over the ‘The Beast of
the East’, Gary Stuhler, Eckert, Haus and Covert rounding out the top
five. As racing resumed, Rine and Stuhler stayed out front leaving Haus
and Eckert t battle for third. Eckert eventually scored the position and
pulled away from Haus as Covert maneuvered his way back around Haus to
re-claim fourth. On lap 36 the final caution flag flew for D.J. Troutman
who spun his mount in turn four.
At this juncture, Rine appeared untouchable as he started to slightly pull
away from Stuhler and the field. Haus, had expended his tire coming
through the field and continued to fade as Steve Everhart recovered from
his lap 22 spin to move into the fifth.
Stuhler stayed glued to Rine for the remained 12 laps but was never close
enough to mount a serious charge for the win. Rine, fist held high as he
took the checkers, scored his first MACS career win. Rine was closely
followed by Stuhler, Eckert, Covert, and Everhart. Haus held on for sixth
over 2008 AlturnaMATS® Rookie of the Year contenders Greg Fetters and
Coleby Frye, Jeff Miller, and Jeremy Miller rounded out the top ten. The
win was Rine's 5th career victory at Bedford.

The Bedford Valley Petroleum Limited Late Models were on hand with 29 cars
in the pits, and Stoystown, Pa's Craig Perigo went home with a $1,000 in
his pocket. Twenty-seven cars started the feature, and it was an action
packed feature. Rick Singleton, who won the previous evening at Hesston,
had a chance to win the $400 bonus for winning at Hesston and Bedford back
to back. Singleton started sixth, but couldn't get around Perigo and Tyler
Hersey, and had to settle for a third place finish. The biggest charger of
the race was Craig Wagaman. Wagaman started 26th and worked his way up to
8th until he ran out of time when the checkered flew. Tyler Hershey ran at
times inches from the leader Perigo, but at the end Perigo was solid and
won his 4th career Limited Late feature at Bedford. Hershey, Singleton,
Mike Shoemaker, and Tim Smith, Jr. completed the top five. Heats went to
Perigo, Hershey, and Singelton.
The Ritchey Sandblasting Hobby Stocks put on a great show as usual.
Derrick Hinish was involved in a lap one skirmish, and restarted dead
last. By the time the checkered flew, Hinish was the winner. Reed Stickel,
Jr. and Charlie Walter, Jr. battled ferociously for the lead for much of
the race until Hinish worked back to third. Hinish battled past both
drivers to take his 8th career Bedford victory, and 2nd win of 2008.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
DICKSON MASTERS NEW SURFACE, WINS BEDFORD OPENER
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - Beautiful weather greeted fans for Bedford Speedway's season
opener, as everyone was anxious to see the new track surface in action. The
newly clayed surface was in good condition, and the season opener helped track
officials identify a few areas that need some attention. Overall, most drivers
commented that the track was in great condition for April racing, and there were
several grooves available for racing. Nick Dickson held off a huge starting
field to win the Miller Auto Parts Super Late Model main event, and Mike
Shoemaker started his season off on a good note by winning the Bedford Valley
Petroleum Limited Late Model feature. Jim Sayler returned to victory lane for
the first time in 3 years when he won the TC Race Cars Street Stock feature, and
Bedford Speedway neighbor Reed Stickel, Jr. won the Ritchey Sandblasting
feature. Mike Lauffer won the first ever Thomas Chevrolet FWD 4 cylinder event
at the speedway.
There were 28 Super Late Models in the pits, and all 28 started the main event.
Nick Dickson took off from his second starting spot to control the the start of
the Super Late Model feature, with Super Late Model rookie Randy Burkholder on
his tail. Burkholder and third running Scott Haus ran side by side for many laps
until Burkholder was finally able to shake free and set his sights on the
leader. Another class rookie, Mike Altobelli, Jr. was also making a strong
showing. Starting 12th, Altobelli picked cars off as he headed for the front.
Likewise, veteran driver Steve Everhart was making an impressive run towards the
front of the pack. At the finish, it was Dickson picking up his 5th career
Bedford win, followed by the two rookies of Burkholder and Altobelli, Jr. Scott
Haus came home fourth, and was followed by '07 track Champ Jack Pencil, Ron
Delano, Jr., Wayne Johnson, and Steve Everhart finished 8th, all the way from
his 28th starting spot. Chuck Clise and Eric Zembower completed the top ten.
Heat winners were Pencil, Haus, and Jeff Rine.
Derek Byler looked to have a sure win in the Limited Late Model feature event,
but a flat tire in the late stages of the race soured his chances. Byler, who
held off Chad McClellan for many laps until McClellan's night ended early,
endured several cautions as his left rear tire slowly leaked off air. It finally
gave out, and Mike Shoemaker assumed command. Shoemaker held of '07 track champ
Tim Smith to claim his 13 career Bedford Limited Late win. Smith came home
second, and was followed by Donnie Farlling, Rance Garlock, and Craig Perigo.
Sixth through tenth went to George Beckett, Derek Byler, who rebounded nicely
from the flat tire, Andy Teno, Steve Bard, and Chad Walter. Shoemaker and
McClellan won the heat events.
Jim Sayler drove from his 8th starting spot to the front to win his 11th career
Street Stock feature. Sayler, who has been absent from the speedway for atleast
one season, made his return a good one. Jim was the '04 and '05 division champ,
and it was only fitting that he do battle with 3-time division champ Bob Jay.
Jay, who had to tag the tail of the field after stopping to avoid a spinning
Ricky Potter, made a great charge through field, but fell short as Sayler took
the checkered. Donald Wyles started the season off on the right foot finishing
third, with Brian Duffy fourth, and Daryl Whetstone finished fifth. Whetstone,
who was a regular competitor at Bedford in the seventies and early eighties,
brought a camaro bodied #78 that made every fan over the age of 35 have a brief
moment of wonderful flashbacks to the days when late models were truly stock
cars. Rounding out the top ten were Kerry Molovich, rookie driver Ricky Potter,
Louis Orris, Greg Imler, and Johnny Harr. Sayler and Whetstone won the heat
events.
Reed Stickel, Jr, who lives across the street from the speedway and admits that
he used to just drive his Hobby Stock to the track instead of hauling it,
started on the pole and led every lap to win his 5th career feature at Bedford.
Derrick Hinish finished second, Charlie Walter third, Brandon LaSalle fourth,
and young Tyler Ritchey fifth. Ray Shepherd, Ryan Beckett, Kevin Brown, Jamie
Kohan, and Travis Group completed the top ten. Hinish and Bill Replogle were the
heat winners.
A small field opened the season for Bedford's newest division, the front wheel
drive four cylinders. Mike Lauffer won the inaugural event from the fourth
starting spot, and was followed to the line by Jeff Treece, Cindy Rhodes, Juan
Ryan, Dave Lambert, Ed Vogel, Irvin Fleegle, Paul Crynock, and Bill Noll rounded
out the field. There were no qualifying events for small field of cars.
Next Friday at the speedway, The Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series makes it's
first ever visit to Bedford. Paying $7,000 to win and $500 to start, some of the
nation's best drivers will be on hand. Pit gates open at 1pm, with general
admission gates opening at 5pm. Hot laps start at 7pm sharp, and time trials
will begin at 7:30. General admission is $25, and $35 for the pits. Also on hand
will be the ultra competitive Bedford Valley Petroleum Limited Late Models,
racing for $1,000 to win. There will be a driver autograph session from 5:30pm
to 6:15pm Call the speedway office at 814-623-0500 or visit

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
BEDFORD POISED AND READY FOR EXCITING '08 SEASON
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - The Bedford Speedway is prepared for what is without a doubt the
most exciting season ever in the track's 72 year history. A brand new surface,
and a very diverse schedule featuring some of the finest sanctioning bodies in
the nation will surely put a smile on the face of anyone who passes through the
Bedford Fairgrounds gates this year. The Miller Auto Parts Super Late Models,
Bedford Valley Petroleum Limited Late Models, TC Race Cars Street Stocks,
Ritchey Sandblasting Hobby Stocks, and the newly added Thomas Chevrolet Front
Wheel Drive 4-Cylinders will form the base for the regular weekly shows, which
as the past few seasons have proven, are a highlight on their own. Promoter JR
