Results For Middleford Speedway September 8, 2006

A few weeks ago Brent Sutton was sweating, welding a new front clip onto his white number 3 600 micro sprint. Friday night he was driving that same car to victory at Middleford Speedway in one of the most exciting 25-lap main events of the year.

Sutton started on the pole by virtue of his victory in the first heat race. He lead every lap, but that doesn't come close to explaining how exciting this race was. "Nitro" Nick Sapp started in the sixth spot and found speed in the high groove, eventually working his way up to the second spot. From there he began his assault on Sutton actually taking the lead, but a yellow flag wiped out that pass.

On the ensuing restart Sapp failed to fire and dropped back through the pack. Scotty The Hammer" Smith was next to take his shots at Sutton, pulling even with him on the backstretch on two consecutive laps; however Sutton would not be shaken and went on to take his first career victory.

The Wildest Night on Record Tonight In Middleford Speedway Action

August 25, 2006

The Wildest Night on Record for This Young Man Tonight In Middleford Speedway Action.  Justin Breeding started 9th in the heat with 11 cars running and finished 4th to start in the feature.

Tyler Reed #72 was full of power tonight and was untouchable taking home 1st place. The #15 car of Scott Hitchens ran a great race as well and finished 2nd. Curtis Miles #21 took home 3rd in Jr. Mod Lite action.

As for Breeding, he came off turn 4, and in the last few laps of the race with, the #3 driven by Brandon Mullins ahead of him. Mullins came off the turn a little high and trying to avoid what was in his sights ahead.  Breeding would come down into the lap car of #711 driven by Allen Parks.  With Justin right on Mullin's back door and no place to go, Justin tried to miss the contact between the #711 and #3 but no such luck.

Breeding would try to stay low only to find his back left tire going up over the nose of Mullins.  Breeding runs up over Mullins back right sending Breeding airborne. The only part of Breeding’s car that touched the ground was his front bumper skimming the dirt.

The crew & team knew the car was going to start tumbling head over heels from the front of the car to rear. Luckily, and short of a miracle he did not, though.  Once Breeding’s car came to a halt, he was checked over for injuries by the EMS on duty.

Breeding wasn't able to speak at first as he was unable to catch his breathe for a few minutes.  The ride he had in the air and slamming down knocked the wind out of him. Then the thumb up sign was given. He was okay.  When the race was over we were told that they have never seen a car with such height off the ground that didn't flip.

Out of the 11 cars that started in the feature only 4 finished.  With Justin's DNF he came in 6th.

Middleford Speedway News From August 11, 2006

Mike Baker was able to put together back-to-back wins in the 270 division in July at Middleford Speedway, and this past Friday night he was able to return to his winning ways over Charles Coburn and Ronnie Hays Jr. This ended Hays' 3-race winning streak.

Cameron Merriman was resigned to a second place finish in the 250 Stock main event until the two-to-go sign came out and leader Luke Thomas' no.2T motor began to sound sick. Merriman caught Thomas at the white flag and was able to drive away to the victory.

Zack Alspach made his first-ever visit to Middleford count as he was able to take the 25-lap 600cc Micro main event. It was also the first Micro win of Alspach's career. He was able to survive an early race scare, losing the lead to Bruce Hibbs Jr in lapped traffic. However a yellow flag came out as Hibbs made the pass, so the scoring reverted to the previous lap putting Alspach back into the lead which he never relinquished.

This left the door open for a new winner in the Mod-Lite division and Brandon Dennis driving the Do-It-All Construction no.10 was able to take advantage as he captured the Mod-Lite feature. Russell Dadd's had his strongest run the year as he was able to make a couple of runs at Dennis late in the race and finish second.

MOD LITE FEATURE 1. 10 Brandon Dennis 2. 38 Russell Dadds 3. 75 Mike Stratton
DNF - 77 Jody Cahall DNS - OJ CJ Faison
Pit Notes: Mike Calinoff, spotter for NASCAR Nextel Cup driver David Stremme was on hand at Middleford Speedway Friday Night. Calinoff owns a driver development firm and was scouting 600 Micro competitor Bruce Hibbs Jr and Mod-Lite Jr. driver CJ Faison. Brent Sutton Sr. informed that his son Brent Jr. spent the entire week putting a new front clip on the team's no.3 600 Micro. Brent Sr. was quick to point out that 15 year old Brent Jr did all of his own welding on the repair.

This week's action at Middleford Speedway will include 250 Stock, 270 and 600 cc Microsprints. Also going to the post will be Modified Lites under TUSA (Team USA) sanction. Mod Lites have two classes; one for Jr. drivers (12-15yrs) who drive machines with 600 cc sealed motors, 1100 and 1200cc motors power Sr. Mod-Lite for drivers 15yrs and up.

AE Pest Control will offer $25 to heat race winners in the 250 stock class. All divisions will run 8-lap heat races. Mod-Lite Jrs. will run a 15-lap main event. 20-lap main events are on tap for 250 Stock, 270 Micros and Mod-Lite Srs. The evening will be capped off by a 25-lap main for 600 Micros.

Fans are eager to see if the 600's can put on another show llike they did in last week's wild 25-lap affair. Winner Drew Richmond came out of the 5th starting slot. The remainder of the top 5 -- Nick Sapp, Genn Heverin, Kevin Darling and Scotty Smith all came from the back of the pack as a result of starting position or recovering from early cautions.

Gates at Middleford Speedway open at 4 p.m. Friday night with racing action beginning at 7.

Last weeks 600 winner, Glen Heverin made an impressive charge from 17th starting spot to finish third. Fourth place finisher Kevin Darling was also involved in an early caution and joined the rest of the top five in coming from the rear. The final impressive top five run came from Scotty Smith who started last, driving Jeremy "J-Dog" Lynch's no. 91x after having mechanical problems with his Stallard Chassis no.20 in his heat race.

270, 600 and Mod-Lite Winners were undergoing tech and were not complete at post time.

Bruce Hibbs, Jr. Race Update

Win,  Running Qualified 2nd Quickest.

After being flooded out last week, the moisture stayed in the surface and the track was very fast. Junior brought his A Game and posted 2nd quick time to qualify for the evening event.  Bruce knew starting on the outside he would lose a few spots on the start.  Just after the green waived Jr. squeezed the Water Pharmacy micro into 3rd position.

Bruce patiently waited to make his move on the leaders. After making a pass for 2nd, Jr. looked for the lead with 7 laps remaining. The leader slipped up the banking and Bruce pointed his mount toward the bottom.  The leader pinched Bruce into the inside berm to keep him from passing.  Jr. would not be denied and made the pass on 2 wheels as he sailed over the inside berm.

Bruce then went on to claim victory by a straightaway over 2nd place.  Jr. has leaned allot since the beginning of the season and is starting to hit his stride.  This is his 3rd win in past 3 races, 1 heat victory and 2 feature wins.

Middleford Speedway Results For May 19, 2006

This was a non-points race. The micros had a wingless night (made it real interesting) and the mod lites had a "run what you brung" night. With the 600 Micros, the field started with 14 cars and only 5 finished. Driving without their wings proved to be more complicated than expected. We had lots of spin-outs, crashes and a triple somersault with the 68N car driven by Chris Neibert. Chris was attended to quickly by the staff and paramedics at the track, but to be safe, Chris was transported to the local hospital and is home with some bruises and a supply of aspirin for the aches. We hope you are feeling better Chris.

CJ Faison put a wing on his 1200 modlite and people wondered if they had invented a new race car. With the speed of the car and adding a wing on top, CJ's speed was untouchable and he "flew" away with the victory.

We had a first time driver in the 1200 mod lites, Ken Duesa, the associate pastor for the Wesleyan Church in Laurel decided to try out racing in Richie Wilson's #1 mod lite since it was a non-points race. The preacher found out that the power of prayer wasn't enough to keep him out of trouble on the race track when he got tangled up with Billy Mellon in the #56 mod lite and failed to find his brake foot to stop the car. All was well, he ended the race with a smile and by the end of the night he proved to be a true racer out there with some good lap times. Rumor has it, the racing bug has bit him and he has been invited to race at Delmar this coming weekend.

In the 600 Mod lites, we had a first time winner with Tyler Reed in the #72 car taking his first checkered flag ever as a mod lite driver. Congratulations Tyler....It was a fun night at Middleford, the track was fast... We will be closed this weekend for Memorial Day. Results are as follows:
