FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
PENCIL IS SHARP IN BEDFORD LABOR DAY TUNE UP
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - Bedford Speedway fans have been getting a steady dose of great
weekly racing action, and Friday night may have been the raciest track this
season. Racing was all over the speedway, top to bottom, and competitors took
full advantage. Jack Pencil picked up his first feature win of the season in
Super Late Model action, and Mike Shoemaker won his third feature event of the
season in the Limited Late Models. Ashley Barrett took top honors in the Street
Stock division, and at the same time clinched his first Bedford Street Stock
Points Championship a week early. Hotshoe Travis Stickley won his 7th Cruiser
Hobby Stock feature of the season, and only needs to start the feature next week
to clinch that division's Championship. Larry Duvall won the special 4 cylinder
event.
Jack Pencil, who appears to be faster and faster each week, fought off a great
field of competitors Friday to earn his 17th career Super Late Model feature
win. Pencil, who started second along side race start genius Scotty Rhodes,
wasted little time getting the top position. Side by side racing occurred all
through the field, and the 7th and 8th starters Scott Haus and DJ Myers were
coming to the front like patriot missiles. with Haus in 2nd and Myers in tow,
last week's feature winner Myers lost the handle in turn 3, sending him to the
rear. With Pencil still pacing the field, and Haus trailing in 2nd, the best
racing was happening a few positions back. Scott Rhodes, Chris Harr, Greg
Fetters, Jeff Rine, Brian Booze and Waylon Wagner thrilled fans as they sliced
and diced all race, with Harr being the most impressive. Harr, who started 2nd,
worked his way up to 3rd, and was battling hard with Scott Haus for 2nd before
Haus had a misfortunate accident. With 3 laps to go, Haus tangled with the
lapped car of Gary Noel in turn 3, ending Haus' great run and sending him
pitside. This set up a 3 lap dash, and Pencil was up for the challenge. Pencil
took the top spot at the checkered, followed by Harr, Scott Rhodes, Greg
Fetters, and Jeff Rine (from the 14th starting spot). Brian Booze, Waylon
Wagner, DJ Myers (who passed 13 cars after restarting on the rear), Wayne
Johnson, and Larry Wright completed the top ten. Myers, Pencil, and Haus were
the heat race winners. Scott Rhodes maintains a 55 point lead over Chris Harr,
with only one point race remaining.
The Limited Late Model feature was just as good as the Super Lates, with Mike
Shoemaker climbing seven positions to take the win. Although, the fastest car on
the track may have been Tim Smith, Jr. Smith was involved in an early race
skirmish, and restarted last. Using the highside, Smith zoomed his way past ten
cars, but ran out of time and had to settle for fourth. The top five were
Shoemaker, Tyler Hershey, Shawn Claar, Smith, and Justin Kann. Sixth through
tenth went to Donnie Farlling, Derek Byler, George Beckett, Kevin Weyandt, and
new comer Paul Hrubochak. Heats went to Byler and Claar. Shoemaker holds a
comfortable point lead with one race remaining. Justin Kann and Donnie Farlling
still have a shot, but it would take severe misfortune on Shoemaker's part for
either one of them to take home the coveted championship.
Ashley Barrett won his 5th Street Stock feature of the year, and put an
exclamation point on an excellent season by winning his first point championship
one week early. Ashley fought off challenges from two time Street Stock champ
Bob Jay the entire race. Terry Wyles, Rick Cragan, and Jason Douglas capped off
the top five. Brandon Hoover, Donald Wyles, Kerry Molovich, Steve Lowery, and
Daniel Cornman finished the top ten. Dave Brown and Cornman won the heat races.
Travis Stickley, who has been burning up area tracks all season, claimed yet
another Cruiser Hobby Stock feature. Most weeks, Stickley has to work hard to
get to the front, but Friday night Stickley found himself starting outside the
front row. Travis led flag to flag, and has all but claimed the division point
title. Last year's track champ Chuck Weyant finished 2nd behind Stickley, and is
also 2nd in the point standings. Devin Weyandt finished a career best third, and
Brian Weyandt, Jr. and Mike Siegele finished 4th and fifth. Stickley and Weyant
won the heat events.
The four cylinders ran a special feature only program, and Larry Duvall came
from the ninth starting spot to claim his first ever victory at the speedway.
Following Duvall across the finish line was Ralph Morgan, Jr., Ronnie Garlock,
Kyle Wiser, and Dave Leighty.
The Bedford Speedway will finish out it's 2006 season on Friday, september 1st
with it's annual Labor Day 55 Super Late Model Special. The 55 lap feature will
pay over $5,000 to the winner. Also appearing will be the Limited Late Models,
Street Stocks, and Cruiser Hobby Stocks. The event will be the final points race
in all four divisions.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MYERS WINS ONE FOR THE TRIBE, HERSHEY GETS FIRST WIN
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - The Bedford Speedway's surface was in excellent shape Friday
evening, and four drivers put on a great show to take home top honors on ARCH
Fan Club night. DJ Myers put his Preston Dietz owned Warrior chassis in victory
lane in the Super Late Model division, and Tyler Hershey earned his first career
win in the Limited Late Models. Ashley Barrett added to his point lead by
winning the Street Stock feature, and Lincoln Ritchey took home the checkered in
the Cruiser Hobby Stock division.
DJ Myers picked up his third career Bedford Super Late Model win Friday, and he
did it in convincing fashion. Bedford fans are familiar with the Myers family
owned # 70, but haven't had the opportunity to see DJ in the Deitz # D1. Many
fans wondered if DJ would run as good in the D1 car as he did in the past in his
own family's car. The answer came soon enough. Myers, who started third,
immediately found that the highside was the fast way around Bedford, and it
didn't take long for Myers to dispose of second place runner Jeff Rine. Scott
Haus, who had started second, was pacing the field with Myers on his tail. Nine
laps into the race, Myers zoomed by Haus in turns 3 & 4, making the pass on the
legendary veteran Haus look easy. Jack Pencil and Scott Rhodes took the cue from
Myers, and moved their ride to the top, picking off cars every couple laps. Jeff
Rine fell out of the race late, and Pencil had worked his way up to Haus to put
on a battle for second. Pencil, who drove into turn 3 so hard and high several
times that many fans thought he may end up on top of the scoreboard, took over
second with less than five laps to go. At the end it was Myers, with a
comfortable lead, Pencil, Haus, Rhodes, and Rick Singleton. Next on the
scoresheet was newcomer Kris Eaton in sixth, Larry Wright, from the 19th
starting position, and Steve Campbell, Rodney Sweitzer, and Eric Zembower 8th
through 10th. Pencil, Rine, and Singleton won the heat events. Chris Harr came
into the event with a 65 point lead over Scott Rhodes, but Harr had to retire on
the first lap of the feature. At then end of the night, Rhodes is now the point
leader over Harr by 50 points.
Winning a Limited Late Model feature event at Bedford is something any 15 year
old boy would dream about. For Tyler Hershey, this dream became reality as he
stepped into manhood by winning his first career Limited Late feature Friday
night. Early race leader Mike Shoemaker encountered trouble immediately
following the start of the race when his drive shaft decided to depart from the
car. Hershey, with a tough crowd behind him, took over the point position and
drove fast and hard to keep the competition behind him. Justin Kann and Andy
Teno paid attention during the Super Late feature, and used the topside to their
advantage. Kann took over second after starting sixth, and Teno moved into third
after starting tenth. The pair had thoughts of victory lane, but Hershey was
smooth and fast, and held on for the win. Kann finished second, Teno third, with
Derek Byler and Travis Calhoun completing the top five. Sixth through tenth went
to Shawn Claar, Donnie Farlling, Robbie Black, Terry Flaherty, and George
Beckett. Shoemaker and Byler won the heats. The Limited Late Model purse
recently received a boost. Contact DKM Racing, Inc. for more details. Even with
Mike Shoemaker's misfortune, he still remains the point leader over Justin Kann
by 115 points.
Ashley Barrett earned his fourth win of the year in the Street Stock division,
and as usual, it wasn't easy. Pole Sitter Terry Wyles was hoping to win his
second career victory, and he fought hard to hold the top position. But Barrett
had other plans. Barrett put his #75x in victory lane for the eighth time in his
career, with Bob Jay, from the 8th starting spot, finished second, right on
Barrett's tail. Wyles came home third, with Greg Hainsey and Daniel Cornman
finishing the top five. Sixth through tenth went to Michael Stiffler, Rodney
Mock, Joe Gearhart, Rick Cragan, and Kerry Molovich. Hainsey and Wyles won the
qualifying events. Barrett holds a very comfortable 230 point lead over Daniel
Cornman.
The Cruiser Hobby Stock division has been putting on some great shows lately,
and Friday was no different. Lincoln Ritchey, Travis Stickley, and Shawn Wyles
thrilled fans with some paint trading racing, with Ritchey coming out on top.
Wyles finished third, Chuck Weyant fourth (running a borrowed car from Brian
Weyandt, Jr.), and Greg Imler fifth. The team cars of Ritchey and Wyles won the
heat races. Stickley leads the points chase with a 145 point lead over Chuck
Weyant.
Cheryl Howsare, who's name is synonymous with powder puff victories, won another
powder puff event Bedford. Howsare, who threatened to retire last year, couldn't
resist the temptation of racing, and crawled in Ryan Beckett's # 58 Hobby Stock
to win in dominating fashion. Promoter JR Keifer's wife Mary Ann took a wild
ride in the Ray Shepherd owned # 9, hitting the frontstretch wall and flipping
onto her roof. She was shaken but uninjured in the crash.
Coming this Friday will be a 4 division show, which includes Super Late Models,
Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, and Cruiser Hobby Stocks. The event will
also be Legends night, with many former Bedford Speedway and surrounding area
superstars appearing for a special presentation. Coming Friday September 1st is
the annual season ender Labor Day 55. A great Super Late Model purse is in the
works, and details will be released later this week.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
RINE WINS HISTORIC BEDFORD FAIR RACE
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - Bedford Speedway held it's annual Great Bedford Fair race Friday
night, and a huge crowd was on hand to witness the racing action. Four drivers
snagged the coveted Fair race trophy, with Jeff Rine winning the Super Late
Model main event, and Derek Byler taking the checkered in the Limited Late
Models. Bob Jay returned to his winning ways in the Street Stock division, and
Shawn Wyles won in Cruiser Hobby Stock action.
Jeff Rine ran an awesome race two weeks ago against the MACS visitors, and he
hung on to that momentum to boost himself into victory lane Friday. Rine, who
started on the pole, gave up the top spot on the first lap to veteran local hero
driver Larry Wright. Wright, who was looking for his first win at Bedford since
1994, appeared to have the competition covered in his strongest showing of the
season. Rine dogged Wright for half the race, looking repeatedly to the inside.
After several laps of getting up to the door on Wright's familiar #31, Rine
finally made the pass and held on for the win. Wright, who didn't lose his
composure once he forfeited the top spot, raced hard with third place Scotty
Haus. With less than 5 laps to go, the pair made heavy contact in turn 2, but
both drivers got their wheels straight with Wright maintaining the 2nd spot.
Haus lost the third spot to a hard charging Scott Rhodes late in the race. Devin
Friese came home fifth, with Jack Pencil, Wayne Johnson, current point leader
Chris Harr, TJ Wright, and Jason Covert completing the top ten. Rine, Friese,
and Harr won the heat events.
Derek Byler picked up his first career Bedford Limited Late Model win Friday,
and it wasn't an easy task. Byler fought off Justin Kann, who has won twice this
season, the entire race. Donnie Farlling, Brad Kling, and Mike Shoemaker
finished third through fifth. Completing the top ten was Tyler Hershey, Craig
Perigo, Shawn Claar, Jim Leidy, and George Beckett. Heats went to Kann, and Tim
Smith, Jr.
Two time Street Stock Champ Bob Jay came from the 8th starting position to steal
a win away from point leader Ashley Barrett. Jay took command of the race and
won easily over Barrett, Daniel Cornman, Jamey Swank, and Rick Cragan. Jay and
Barrett took top honors in the heats.
In Cruiser Hobby Stock action, Shawn Wyles won his 12th career division feature.
Derrick Hinish, in his best run this season, paced the field for several laps
until Wyles slid by on the low side. Hinish hung on to second for his best
career finish, followed by occassional Bedford racer Troy Aikey, Brian Weyandt,
Jr., and Mandy Jay, who also had her best career Bedford finish. Heats were won
by Aikey, point leader Travis Stickley, and Eric Ritchey.
Next Friday, August 4th is the Walt Aikey Memorial Race Street Stock Special.
The Super Late Models will get the week off, and the Street Stocks, Limited Late
Models, and Cruiser Hobby Stocks will highlight the show.

Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS)
Indiana, PA
July 14, 2006
By: Jeff Geesey and Jason Shank
For Immediate Release:
Haus Nails “Bedford MACS Attack 50”
Veteran, Scott Haus, Hamburg, PA nailed his fifth career A Main win with the
Series at the Keifer and Mayberry Motorsports promoted Bedford Speedway,
Bedford, PA claiming the $5,000 top prize.
In victory lane a jubilant Haus stated, “I messed up on the first lap, when I
got high in one (turn one) and went from fourth to eighth. We figured we would
be better at the end, but when McCreadie got the top three or four cars jammed
up (he was developing a flat tire) there at the end I just happened to be
running low, and that is what saved me. That’s what got me in the winner’s
circle.”
Tim McCreadie and Jeff Rine paced the 24 car field to green with eventual winner
Haus in fourth. Rine vaulted into the top spot with McCreadie slotting into
second over Jeremy Miller, Rick Eckert and Davey Johnson, with Haus sliding back
to eighth. Rine was impressive as the near capacity crowd looked on cheering
their hometown driver over McCreadie’s onslaught as he dogged the leader in a
fierce battle for the victory.
Rine’s blistering pace found him catching the tail of the field on lap 14 as he
tried to shake the attacks of McCreadie who was turning up the wick in his
effort for the win. Rine continued to lead to the first caution of the event on
lap 25 for former Series champion Denny Chamberlain. Rine regrouped the field
with McCreadie still reigning in the runner-up spot over Miller, Eckert, and
Johnson, with Haus clawing his way back up to sixth at this juncture.
Rine fired the field at the cone with McCreadie showing him his nose as the
field hauled it into turn one. Rine running the high side powered out of turn
two back in front. Another quick caution occurred just one lap later as Jack
pencil looped his mount in turn three. Rine again was unflinching as T-Mac was
applying extreme pressure on the restart. At the lead the duo was putting on a
driving clinic while being pursued by Miller, Eckert and Haus.
With just 15 laps remaining Rine was still leading over McCreadie, Miller, Haus,
and Eckert. On lap 38 McCreadie made his move for the lead and victory as he
edged door-handle to door handle with the leader going in to turn one. Rine
again went to the high side trying to fight off the challenge, but this time
McCreadie had the move nailed as he captured the lead going down the back
stretch. McCreadie led Rine, Miller, Haus, and Johnson through lap 41. Coming
out of turn four on lap 42 McCreadie started to develop a flat. With competition
dead on his heels the lead quartet was jammed up as they sailed across the start
finish line four wide. Haus catapulted from fourth to first in the shuffle over
Miller, Rine, Johnson and Eckert as McCreadie’s mount coasted to a halt in turn
two bringing out the third and final caution.
Haus, the new leader paced Miller, Rine, Johnson and Eckert back to the stripe
with eight laps to go. Haus fought off all the challenges on his way to the
checkers taking the win over Miller, Rine, in one of his best Series finishes,
Johnson and Eckert.
The next tier of five included Series point leader, Jason Covert, ASI Racewear
Hard Charger, Jim Bernheisel, who started sixteenth; Scott Rhodes; defending
Series Champion, Mike Balzano; and Steve Shaver.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
HAUS WINS MACS RACE AT BEDFORD
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - The MACS Super Late Models made their first appearance at Bedford
Speedway Friday night since 2001, and afterwards everyone wondered what took so
long. The track was in top notch condition, and some of the best racers in the
Northeast were on hand to battle for the $5,000 to win 50 lap special. New
York's Tim McCreadie's first ever visit to the speedway was impressive, to say
the least. Attacking the track like he's been racing there for years, McCreadie
set a new one lap track record, blowing away the old lap record by over 3 tenths
of a second. McCreadie also won his heat, the Dash, but did not win the race
that counted the most. That honor went to Bedford Speedway superstar Scott Haus.
Haus, who was fast all night, won his 33rd Bedford Super Late Model feature. In
other action, Ashley Barrett padded his point lead in the Street Stock division
by winning the feature event, and newcomer Reed Stickel, Jr. won the Cruiser
Hobby Stock main event.
Anytime a traveling series comes to Bedford, most fans know there a couple local
drivers who are capable of beating the "big boys". Without a doubt, Scott Haus
is one of these drivers. Haus' resume is stellar, a career that most drivers in
the country would dream of having. But when national hero Tim McCreadie
dominated the qualifying events and started the feature on the pole, many fans
thought the race was over before it started. But the real surprise started on
the first lap, and it wasn't Haus. Weekly Bedford driver Jeff Rine, who ran very
well in qualifying, started on the outside pole and rocketed past McCreadie into
the lead. Sometimes leading by several car lengths, Rine led well over 3/4 of
the race before succumbing to 2nd place McCreadie with about 10 to go. Haus, who
was amidst a tough battle with Jeremy Miller, Jeff Rine, Rick Eckert and Jason
Covert, made a move with 7 laps to go that would seal his chance to take the 5
grand winner's paycheck. McCreadie, who had just taken the lead from Rine, took
off from the pack in dominating fashion. But with 7 laps to go, McCreadie
suffered a flat tire on the frontstretch. In a split second, the front four cars
bottled up behind McCreadie, and Haus shot to the inside to snag the lead just
before the caution flew. The first 5 cars had already crossed the start/finish
line when the caution came out for McCreadie's ride, solidifying Haus' first
place position. From then on, Haus held off Jeremy Miller to take the coveted
MACS 50 lap feature. Following Haus and Miller was Rine, Davey Johnson, and
former four time Bedford Champion Rick Eckert. Sixth through tenth went to Jason
Covert, Jim Bernheisel (from the 16th starting spot), Scott Rhodes, Mike Balzano,
and Steve Shaver. Fan favorite Gary Stuhler pulled pitside on the last lap while
running well into the top ten.
Heat winners for the event were McCreadie, Stuhler, Rine, and Denny Chamberlain.
McCreadie won the Dash, and the two B-Main races were won by Nick Dickson and
Jack Pencil.
In Street Stock action, Ashley Barrett came from his 8th starting position to
win the double purse event. Michael Stiffler earned his career best finish
taking 2nd, Rick Cragan third, Brandon Hoover 4th, and Jamey Swank 5th. Swank
and Stiffler won the heats.
Reed Stickel, Jr. earned his first career Bedford victory Friday in the Cruiser
Hobby Stock division. Stickel picked a good night to do it, as the race was a
double purse event. Stickel held off hot shoes Travis Stickley and Shawn Wyles
for the win. Lincoln Ritchey was fourth, followed by Brian Weyandt, Jr. Stickel
and Lincoln Ritchey won the heat events.
The speedway is off next week for fair preparation, and coming Friday, July 28th
is the Great Bedford Fair 4 division show, featuring Super Late Models, Limited
Late Models, Street Stocks, and Cruiser Hobby Stocks.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
FRIDAY'S ACTION WASHES OUT, SPEEDWAY SET FOR 410 SPRINTS THIS SUNDAY NIGHT
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - The Bedford Speedway almost stole one from mother nature Friday
night, but heavy rain wiped out the show with only 2 divisions finishing hot
laps. A small rain storm hit the speedway midway through hot laps, forcing a
long delay as the track crew and generous race drivers repacked the track.
Minutes before letting the green fly again, a heavy downpour finished the
evening.
This Sunday, June 25th, the 410 sprint cars will invade Bedford Speedway. For
the first time ever, Bedford will be part of the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass PA Sprint
Car Speedweek, and some of the best sprint car drivers in the country will try
to tame the big track. The sprint cars will be racing a 30 lap feature with
$5,000 going to the winner. There will be time trial and heat race qualifying.
The Bedford Street Stock division will also be on hand. General admission for
the inaugural show will be $20, and pit admission will be $25. The main gate
will open at 11am, and the pit gate will open at 4pm. Hot laps will be at 7pm,
with time trials starting at 7:30. The Bedford sprint car show will have a
raindate of Monday, June 26th.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
DICKSON WINS FEATURE, RHODES KING OF THE HILL
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - It was Bedford Valley Petroleum night at Bedford Speedway on
Friday, and Nick Dickson, Scott Rhodes, Justin Kann, Mike Shoemaker, and Travis
Stickley each took home a win. The race track surface, which has been improving
each week, was very smooth and fast, and fans were treated to a good night of
racing.
Second generation driver Nick Dickson edged out Scott Rhodes to earn his fourth
career Bedford Speedway Super Late Model feature win. Dickson grabbed the lead
on the first lap, and had to endure 25 stressful laps as veteran driver Scott
Rhodes road his tail the entire race. Rhodes passed two cars on the first lap to
get to second, and knocked on Dickson's door lap after lap. Dickson was strong,
and more importantly ran mistake free. With Dickson's poise behind the wheel,
there was no way Rhodes could mount any real serious threat. However, a late
race caution for TJ Wright bunched the field with eight to go. Rhodes, a known
restart master, was set to take the lead, but Dickson held him at bay and took
the win. Rhodes was a close second, and Wayne Johnson finished 3rd, right on
Rhodes' bumper. Chuck Clise took home fourth, and Andy Martz fifth. Jeff Rine,
Chris Harr, Chris Shuey, Steve Campbell, and Scott Haus completed the top ten.
Dickson is the current point leader, with Chris Harr and Scott Rhodes following
close behind.
Rine and Martz won the qualifiers.
The Limited Late model division ran 2 features Friday. The first was a make up
race from May 12th. Justin Kann scored his first ever Bedford victory, over
George Beckett, Kevin Weyandt, Mike Shoemaker, and Donnie Farlling. In the
regular scheduled race, it looked like Kann might be looking to make it a double
as he started the race from the pole. Unfortunately, mechanical problems would
send him pitside. Mike Shoemaker, who started third, made some adjustments to
the car after the first feature, and was blazing fast in the second. Shoemaker
grabbed the point and never looked back, winning easily over Craig Perigo, Al
Shawver, Matt Parks, and Tyler Hershey. Sixth through tenth went to Andy Fries,
Matt Sponaugle, Shawn Claar, George Beckett, and newcomer Howie Bussard. Super
Sportsman standout driver Carmen Perigo, Jr. raced a fendered car Friday. Carmen
competed against his brother Craig in his own # 2a Limited Late Model.
Cruiser Hobby Stock driver Travis Stickley has been on a tear lately at local
race tracks, Bedford included. Travis snagged his second victory of the season
in dominating fashion. The real race was for 2nd. Brian Weyandt, Jr. made his
first start of the year a good one, as he and last year's track champ Chuck
Weyant dueled door to door almost every single lap. The race was so close that
at the finish it was declared a dead heat for 2nd. So it was Stickley by a wide
margin, Weyandt, Jr. and Weyant tied for second, Derrick Hinish fourth, and
Brandon LaSalle fifth. Mike Siegele, Racin' Ray Shepherd, Ryan Beckett, David
Reaugh, and Todd Price completed the top ten.
Weyant and Stickley won the heats.
The Super Late Model King of the Hill contest capped off the evening. The top 16
in points ran time trials, with Jeff Rine setting fast time. The field paired up
based on time, and then competed in pairs for three lap dashes, with the loser
eliminated. When it got down to the final two, it was just like feature event
from earlier in the evening - Nick Dickson and Scott Rhodes. The pair were
forced to restart once, and on the second attempt, Scott Rhodes was able to
wrestle the win away from Dickson
Coming this Friday will be a 1,000 to win Limited Late Model Special. Also
appearing will be the Williams Grove Old Timers Association, along with Super
Late Models, Street Stocks, and Cruiser Hobby Stocks. Pennsylvania Speedweek is
just around the corner, with Bedford hosting the 2nd night of the 410 sprint car
week long extravaganza. Bedford's show will be on Sunday, June 25th, with MONDAY
reserved as a raindate.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
STUHLER WINS BEDFORD HOLIDAY RACE
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - Gary Stuhler won his 2nd Bedford feature event of the year Sunday
night, winning the 30 lap Memorial Day Spring Championship. Scott Rhodes won the
make up Super Late Model race from 5/12, and John Hedge won the Limited Late
Model feature. Patrick McDonough won the regular scheduled Street Stock race,
and Ashley Barrett won the make up feature from 5/12. Scot Sipes was the winner
of the Cruiser Hobby Stocks.
Gary Stuhler started on the pole for the 30 laps Super Late Model main event,
and immediately checked out on the field at the drop of the green. Wayne Johnson
worked his up to 2nd, with Scott Rhodes in tow, but nobody could keep up with
Stuhler. Rhodes suffered a flat tire with 15 laps to go while running third, and
had to restart 22nd. Rhodes made it back to 11th, but there wasn't enough time
to make a serious bid for a top five run. At the line it was Stuhler by several
car lengths, Wayne Johnson, Andy Martz, Chris Harr, and Nick Dickson.
Scott Rhodes won the Super Late Model feature make up race from May 12th,
charging to the front from his 9th starting position. Bedford's own Bob Salathe
led most of the race, but with 12 laps to go Salathe suffered a right rear flat,
which ruined his bid for the win. Chris Harr followed Rhodes across the
checkered, followed by Chuck Clise, Steve Campbell, and Nick Dickson.
John Hedge found his way back to victory lane in Limited Late Model action,
holding off a Donnie Farlling. Farlling dogged Hedge the entire race, but Hedge
kept cool and maintained his line, holding on for the win. Farlling was second,
Mike Shoemaker third, and George Beckett and Matt Sponaugle rounding out the top
five.
Patrick McDonough was the victor in the Street Stock main event, with Daniel
Cornman, Ashley Barrett (who came from 14th), Greg Cornell, and Greg Hainsey

RAIN AGAIN AT BEDFORD, HUGE SHOW SLATED FOR SUNDAY MAY 28TH
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - A week's worth of bad weather, and a terrible forecast, and
eventual rain forced the Bedford Speedway's management to cancel the races

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
STUHLER PUTS ON A SHOW, EARNS BEDFORD WIN NUMBER 25
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - NAPA of Bedford and Breezewood presented a great evening of racing
Friday at the Bedford Speedway. Super Late Model wizard Gary Stuhler earned his
25th career Bedford win, and Shawn Claar earned his first ever Bedford victory
in the Limited Late Model division. Ashley Barrett won the TC Race Cars Street
Stock feature event, and Travis Stickley fought hard for the Cruiser Hobby Stock
win.
History has proven that any time Gary Stuhler pulls into the Bedford Speedway
pits, there's a real good chance he's going to win. Friday night, he proved that
theory right as he won the NAPA Super Late Model main event. It was't a walk in
the park for Stuhler, who started eighth. He had to overcome drivers like last
week's winner DJ Troutman, a super fast Chris Harr, four time Bedford champ
Scott Haus, and others to find the point. Stuhler's run was impressive, and
almost equally impressive was Jeremy Miller's run from his 27th starting
position. Miller picked his way through traffic, making it all the way to 9th
before getting spun out in turn 4. Unfortunately, Miller and Rick Singleton both
went pitside after the incident. Nick Dickson had taken the lead at the drop of
the green, and paced the field with a two to three car length lead until Stuhler
arrived on his tail with less than 10 laps remaining. With 5 to go, Stuhler made
his move coming off turn two, and put the Nininger # 90 in the lead. Stuhler
held on for the remaining 4 laps, and took the checkered. Chris Harr managed to
get by Dickson and take the 2nd spot, and Dickson finished 3rd. Scott Rhodes
came from tenth to nab 4th, and Scott Haus finished 5th. Bo Feathers came all
the way from thirteenth to earn the sixth spot, with Dave Troutman, Jack Pencil,
Jason Covert, and Jeff Rine completing the top ten.
Rodney Sweitzer, Wayne Johnson, and Nick Dickson won the heat events.
Shawn Claar started on the pole and led flag to flag to earn his first Bedford
Limited Late Model win. Claar held off last year's champion Matt Parks, who was
followed by Mike Shoemaker, last week's winner Matt Sponaugle, and Tim Smith,
Jr. Sixth through tenth went to George Beckett, Craig Perigo, Rance Garlock, Al
Shawver, and Daryl Burkholder.
Heat wins went to Garlock and Parks.
The TC Race Cars Street Stock race was somewhat of a marathon, with something
going wrong nearly every other lap. Ashley Barrett put his bid in for a track
championship, winning a tight one over Daniel Cornman. Willie Ling finished
third, young Brandon Hoover fourth, and Donald Wyles fifth.
Barrett and last week's winner Patrick McDonough won the heat events.
Travis Stickley was victorious in the Cruiser Hobby Stock division. Stickely
took the lead twice from Chuck Weyant, only to have his pass negated by a
caution. Finally, the third time was the charm and Stickley earned his 2nd
career Bedford win. Weyant held off Shawn Wyles for second, with Brandon LaSalle
and Greg Imler rounding out the top five.
Weyant and Wyles won the heats.
This Friday is the Bob Sweitzer Memorial race for the Super Late Models. Also
appearing will be the Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, and Cruiser Hobby
Stocks. More information about the Sweitzer Memorial race will be released on
Monday. Please call DKM Racing or check the website at www.bedfordspeedway.com
to answer any questions.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
DJ TROUTMAN SNAGS BEDFORD OPENER
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - A good field of cars welcomed Bedford race fans to great night of
racing for the season opener Friday night. DJ Troutman started the season off
right in the family owned number 7j, picking up the win in the NAPA Super Late
Models. Matt Sponaugle earned career win number 3 in the Limited Late Models,
and Patrick McDonough got his first career Bedford win in the TC Race Cars
Street Stock division. Last year's division champ Chuck Weyant won the special
30 lap Cruiser Hobby Stock feature.
DJ Troutman grabbed the lead immediately in the NAPA Super Late Model main, but
it wasn't easy for the second generation driver. Pole sitter Nick Dickson dogged
Troutman lap after lap, taking the lead momentarily at one point mid way through
the race. Troutman held on to pick up his 4th career Bedford late model win,
with Dickson a close second. Jason Covert finished a strong third, with Chris
Harr and Bo Feathers completing the top five. Scott Haus, Andy Martz, Wayne
Johnson, Jeff Rine, and Chuck LaSalle rounded out the top ten. Notable Speedway
racers Rodney Sweitzer, Bob Salathe, Jack Pencil, and Scott Rhodes provided the
best action of the race, battling all race long. Sweitzer faired the best of the
group, finishing twelfth.
Heat winners were Haus, DJ Troutman, and Dickson.
Matt Sponaugle led flag to flag in the Limited Late Model feature event. A lap
one crash in turn two sent 2005 track champ Matt Parks, heat winner Shawn Bilger,
perennial front runner John Hedge, and Eddie Cornett pitside. A pair of eights
paced the field the entire distance, with Sponaugle taking the win ahead of Mike
Shoemaker, Donnie Farlling, Rance Garlock, and Steve Bard. Sixth through tenth
went to Al Shawver, Craig Perigo, George Beckett, Justin Kann, and Tyler
Hershey.
Bilger, Shawver, and Parks won the heat events.
Patrick McDonough held back a mob of TC Race Cars Street Stock drivers to win
his first ever main event at Bedford Speedway. Travis Brown finished a career
best second, and Willie Ling nabbed a Bedford career best third. Ashley Barrett
took home fourth, and Jerry Merritts earned a career high fifth. Sixth through
tenth was Dave Korlewitz, who ran in the top five much of the night before being
plagued with a tire problem, rookie driver Brandon Hoover, Scott Grubb, Daniel
Cornman, and Terry Wyles.
Heats went to McDonough and Barrett.
Last year's Cruiser Hobby Stock champion Chuck Weyant started the season off on
the right foot, winning a special 30 lap main event for the division from his
seventh starting position. A wild race at the front saw two and three wide
racing for nearly all 30 laps, with Weyant stealing the lead with two to go from
second generation driver Brandon LaSalle. LaSalle held on for second, and was
followed by Travis Stickley, James Best, and Shawn Wyles. Derrick Hinish, David
Reaugh, Kevin Hinish, Racin' Ray Shepherd, and Lincoln Ritchey completed the top
ten.
Best and Wyles won the heat races.
Friday, May 5th will be a regular 4 division show consisting of Super Lates,
Limited Lates, Street Stocks and Cruiser-Hobby Stocks. Hot laps start at 7, with
racing at 7:30. The first "Kid's race car rides" of the season will take place
that evening, beginning at 6:30. Coming Friday, May 12th is the Bob Sweitzer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
IMPROVEMENTS HIGHLIGHT BEDFORD'S NEW SEASON
By Dave Harclerode
BEDFORD, PA - The Bedford Speedway staff is ready for another great season of
racing. Many improvements have been made since last season, and an exciting
schedule is on tap for racers and fans. The most noticeable improvement is the
racetrack itself. More banking has been added, and the track grade is consistent
from top to bottom. Turn four has been widened by 15 feet, and literally tons of
rocks have been hauled out and replaced with clay. New guardrail has been added
to turn one to accommodate the increased banking. A new concessions building has
been added to the pits, and a sponsor tower is being constructed beside the
press box.
<>
The ’06 schedule is full of action, and is highlighted by several outstanding
events. On Sunday, June 25th, the Pennsylvania Speedweek tour will make a stop
at Bedford, bringing some of the best 410 sprint racers in the country to town.
There hasn’t been a sprint car race this big at the speedway in 30 years. The
MACS Late Models will be on hand Friday, July 14th. The MACS group has been
absent from Bedford for several years, and the area is looking forward to
welcoming them back. Several other big shows are on the schedule, including the
Bob Sweitzer Memorial Race on May 12th, the Spring Late Model Championship on
May 28th, the PA State Late Model Firecracker 35 on July 2nd, the annual Fair
races on July 28th, and the season ending classic Labor Day 55 on September 1st.
Several specialty items also dot the schedule, including Australian Pursuit
races, a Powder Puff, and King of the Hill races. <>
Bob Salathe, Bedford’s 1994 Super Late Model Track Champ and former promoter, is
expected to come out of retirement and compete weekly at the Bedford Speedway.
Bob has 18 Super Late Model wins to his credit at Bedford, putting him sixth on
the all-time win list. Also making a return to Bedford Speedway will be the
familiar #55 Tom Gill owned car, which will be driven weekly at Bedford by Port
Royal standout driver Steve Campbell.
The season kicks off with a practice night on Friday, April 14th. Opening night
will be the following Friday, April 21st with points starting in all 4 regular
divisions, which consists of Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, TC Race
Cars Street Stocks, and the Cruiser-Hobby Stocks.
