RAY SWINEHART WINS FIRST T.H.PROPERTIES FREEDOM 76, LEADS ALL THE LAPS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 11, 2005 . . . It was a night that a racer can only
dream of. Two time track champion Ray Swinehart, winner of three rich Stauffer
Construction Forrest Rogers Memorials, was able to win the one that seemed to
always escape him. Swinehart, at the wheel of his own P.K.Moyer & Son
Excavating/J&L Speed Equipment No. 33 modified, lead every lap on Saturday night
at Grandview Speedway as he rode to victory in his first T.H. Properties Freedom
76 Modified Stock Car Classic picking up $20,000 in prize money and more than
$1,000 in lap money.
The veteran racer got the benefit of a good draw starting on the pole and never
gave up the number one position. The Bechtelsville speed equipment business
owner missed all the problems on the track in the first half with Kevin Hartnett
close behind. In fact, Hartnett using the high groove, was able to pull
alongside of the leader but was never able to take the lead in the first 35
laps. A fuel stop dictated by a large number of caution laps brought the event
to a stop on the 35th circuit.
With a full fuel tank Swinehart and Hartnett continued their battle for the
first spot as soon as the green flag fell. However the final 41 laps was not
marred by so many cautions and the fans in the stands delighted to the on going
battle, lap after lap, between leader Swinehart and challenger Kevin Hartnett
while former winner Meme DeSantis hung back in third hoping to take advantage of
a miscue by one or both.
Swinehart, who has often been in the thick of the battle for a Freedom 76
victory, hung tough in the closing laps and was able to hold off the constant
pressure from Hartnett to ride to victory. Hartnett (Perkasie) finished second
in the Berks Products No. 81 picking up $10,000 for his efforts. Third spot went
to DeSantis (Temple) followed by five time track champion Craig VonDohren
(Oley). Former champion Tom Mayberry (Sellersville) had a strong showing to grab
fifth.
Kenny Brightbill, getting to start in the T.H.Properties Freedom 76, earned
(unofficially) the Tom Oates Chevy Hard Charger award worth $100 for coming from
a last row starting position to gain a 12th place finish.
Qualifying heat races, seven were need for the more than 80 cars on hand, were
won by Meme DeSantis, Mike Gular, Tom Mayberry, Kyle Weiss, David VanHorn, Cliff
Quinn and Ryan Watt. The three Modified consolation race wins were earned by
Bobby Varin, Chris Esposito and Tom Sheetz.
The Cheers Tavern Cash Dash, worth $1000 to the winner, went to Ryan Watt.
The Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 saw Kerry Kratz win to move on the
Freedom 76. Also making the big race as a result of qualifying through the
Minuteman 20 were Danny Erb and Doug Hoffman.
Fans in the stands contributed more than $2750 to the Salvation Army for their
efforts with Hurricane Katrina.
Ms. Jamie Kresge was the winner of the Champions Trip for two to Punta Cana
worth close to $3000.
Racing action returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, October 15th, 6 p.m.
with five 25-lap features being presented as part of NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on
the Hill Series. Big Block Modifieds, NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models, URC
Sprints and Legends cars will be featured in the season finale.
The open competition modified and late model events scheduled for September 17th
and 24th have been cancelled.
On Saturday, October 22nd, 6 a.m. the annual Racers Flea Market will be
presented on the grounds of the Grandview Speedway.
And on Saturday, December 17th the Grandview Speedway Awards Banquet will be
presented at the Kutztown, PA Fire Hall.
At present plans call for the season opening free-to-the-public practice session
to be presented on Saturday, March 26th at 12 noon. And the official point
season will get the green flag at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 2nd with Modifieds
and Late Models in action.

RACE RESULTS BRIEF: WATT AND MIKE KELLNER WIN FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW
Young Ryan Watt chose a good night to win the 30 lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series
Modified feature race at Grandview Speedway, it was BPG Racing/Chad Sinon
Motorsports Night and Sinon is a sponsor of the Watt No.14W Modified. Mike
Kellner drove the Hutt’s Glass Co. No.57 to his second win of the season the
20-lap NASCAR Late Model feature race.
Jeff Strunk won the 2005 NASCAR Modified Championship for the fifth time and his
fourth in a row while Ron Kline topped the Late Models winning his first track
championship.
In the 30-lapper for Modifieds Jason Smythe lead from the first lap and looked
like a sure bet for winning his first career Modified feature race. With just
eight laps to go the field was tightened up for a caution restart with Smythe
able to hold the lead. However on the 25th circuit of the clay oval Watt, who
came from 22nd starting spot, was able to charge by Smythe in the second turn
and grab the lead. Once in front the Phoenixville racer was able to charge to
the checkered flag picking up just his second career win.
Second went to Smythe (Oley) followed by Kenny Gilmore (Fleetwood), Jeff Strunk
(coming back from an early caution that saw him go to the rear of the 31 car
starting field) and Kevin Hartnett ( coming from 21st starting spot).
Junior Grebe got the early lead in the 20-lap Late Model feature with John
Giesler in front on the third circuit. Mike Kellner went to the front on the
fourth lap and that is where he stayed to the finish holding off the hard
charging Randy Stoudt. Third spot was earned by Steve Sennott followed by Ron
Kline and John Giesler.
Coming up this Saturday at Grandview Speedway is the biggest event of the season
the T.H.Properties Freedom 76 for the Modified stock cars. The event will pay
$20,000 to the winner and that will help attract a stellar field of top notch
dirt track modified racers. Racing will include a full slate of qualifying
events, the Minuteman 20, Cheer’s Tavern Cash Dash and the Freedom 76. There
will be pre race activities with autograph sessions, driver interviews and music
starting at 3 p.m. and racing gets the green at 7 p.m.
This will be the final regular season racing event of the season at Grandview
Speedway.

RYAN WATT AND MIKE KELLNER SHARE FEATURE WINS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
Jeff Strunk and Ron Kline take home championships for 2005
BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 4, 2005... Last Saturday night Ryan Watt took his
BPG Racing No. 14W Modified home as a massive pile of rumpled metal after a
multi car accident. One week later, with a new body in place, Watt was able to
win the 30-lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified race at Grandview Speedway on
a night sponsored by BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports. And Mike Kellner charged
to the front early in the 20-lap NASCAR Late Model feature race to get his
second win of the season.
Jeff Strunk (Bethel) won his fifth NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series championship and
his fourth straight. Ron Kline (Green Lane) picked up his first NASCAR Late
Model title.
Jason Smythe, for at least the second time this season, looked like he was going
to get his first career victory as he started on the pole with the Becker
Airport Services No. 71 and lead the first 24 laps. The Oley, PA racer was able
to pull away from the 31 car starting field a number of times and held off
challenges from Ed Scott,Ryan Watt and Sean Merkel. However after one of many
cautions closed up the field just a few laps before, Ryan Watt, coming from 22nd
starting spot, charged to the front of the pack in turn two and went on to
victory.
The win for the Phoenixville, PA racer was popular with fans as the talented
youngster has struggled this season. His win, worth $2,200, was the second of
his career and made him the 13th different Modified feature winner of the
season. Smythe managed to hold on for a second place finish with Kenny Gilmore
(Fleetwood) coming from 18th starting spot to get third. Track champion Jeff
Strunk (Bethel) was caught up in an early race accident and went to the back of
the 31 car starting field charging back to gain a fourth place finish. Kevin
Hartnett (Perkasie), a 21st place starter, brought his Berks Products No. 81
home fifth.
The 20-lap feature for the Late Models was quick and exciting as Junior Grebe
set the pace for the first couple of laps with three time champion John Giesler
moving to the front on the third lap. Mike Kellner, coming from fourth, took the
lead on the fourth lap and stayed in front to win his second feature of the
season. The 13 minute event saw Kellner (Lansdale) chased to the checkered flag
by Randy Stoudt (Pottstown), winner of five feature this season, who had to
settle for second. Steve Sennott (Gilbertsville) came on strong in the closing
laps to get third followed by new Late Model champion Ron Kline (Green Lane) and
John Giesler (Aston).
Qualifying heat races for the Late Models saw wins go to Mike Kellner, Buddy
Wharton and Sean Merkel. The Jim Brown Cash Dash went to Mike Kellner giving him
a clean sweep for the night.
In the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified qualifiers, with 55 Modifieds on
hand, the wins went to Tracy Readinger, Danny Erb, Terry Meitzler, Greg Humlhanz
and Jeff Strunk. Consolation wins were earned by Kevin Hartnett, Ryan Watt and
John Tschudy. The Cheer’s Tavern Cash Dash was worth $500 to winner Greg
Humlhanz.
Fans in the stands were very generous to drivers who took their helmets into the
crowd and were able to collect more than $3100 that will go to the Red Cross to
help their efforts in the Gulf Coast.
Racing returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 10th when the
biggest event of the season is presented and that is the T.H.Properties Freedom
76 features the 358 Modifieds paying $20,000 for a win (plus lap money and other
perks) and $10,000 for second. With the huge purse the event is expected to
attract more than 75 entries trying for a spot in the 76-lap main event that
could start as many as 40 cars. In late news Kenny Brightbill, one of the top
Modified racing talents in the business today, has indicated that he will be
racing in the Freedom 76.
Included in the night’s racing action is a full series of qualifying events, the
Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 (last chance to make the big race), the
Cheer’s Tavern Cash Dash (10 laps paying $1,000 to win) and the T.H.Properties
Freedom 76.
The rain date is September 17th.
The open competition modified and late model events scheduled for September 17th
and 24th have been cancelled.
There is a Thunder on Hill special promotion, a Bruce Rogers and Bob Miller
presentation, set for October 15th with the exact program still to be finalized.

STRUNK GOING FOR THREE STRAIGHT WINS IN T.H.PROPERTIES FREEDOM 76 CLASSIC
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 31, 2005 … During the 34 year history of the
T.H.Properties Freedom 76 Modified stock car race there have been some top
talents win the race, some have won more than once and Billy Pauch has won six
times while Duane Howard has won three times but there has never been anyone win
three in a row.
When the top dirt track modified racers show up at Grandview Speedway on
Saturday, September 10th, to try for the $20,000 first place money posted for
the Classic, Jeff Strunk will be trying to become the first racer to win three
in a row.
Strunk, winner of the 2005 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified championship
at the Bechtelsville oval, is now a five time track champion. He is a consistent
top performer and considered a strong favorite to bring the BPG Racing/Chad
Sinon Motorsports No.88 home first in front of the expected 40 car starting
field.
It is expected that more than 75 dirt track Modified racers will be on hand to
try for a win. Included in the possible list of entries are former winners such
as Doug Hoffman, Tom Mayberry, Donny Erb, Craig VonDohren and Meme DeSantis.
Bobby Varin, one of the top campaigners on the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Circuit, has signed to drive the DiNatale No.11D. That is the car driven to a strong second place finish in the Freedom 76 last September by Meme DeSantis.
“As usual there are a lot of rumors circulating about different drivers that will be running in the Freedom 76 but we don’t like use racer names unless they have actually told us they are entered.” said track promoter Bruce Rogers. “However, as usual, we are expecting some surprise entries.”
Many of the Grandview regulars including Mike Gular, Ray Swinehart, Jon Kellner, Terry Meitzler, Doug Manmiller and a host of others are planning to be a part of the T.H.Properties Freedom 76. The season has been a very competitive one with (as of August 31st) 12 different winners in 17 feature races presented.
“At present just about all the race laps are sponsored which will mean even a bigger pay day for the winner,” commented track marketing director Ernie Saxton. “And there are a number of special awards including the Tom Oates Chevy Hard Charger, the ABE Car Care Centers Hard Luck Award, Area Auto Racing News Qualifying Hard Luck Award, and more are expected to be announced before race day.” There are still a few lap sponsorship opportunities available by telephoning Saxton at 215.752.7797.
A full series of qualifying heats plus the Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20
(the last chance to qualify for the big race) will lead up to the T.H.Properties
Freedom 76 Modified Classic. Racing will start at 7 p.m.
Also a great crowd pleaser is the Cheers Tavern Cash Dash which features the
qualifying event winners racing for $1,000 to win in a 10 lapper.
Pre race activities, including music, autograph sessions, driver interviews
and more, will get started at 3 p.m.
A couple of lucky fans will go home winners of the Champion’s Trip to Punta Cana
(a trip for two) and $500 from BPG Racing’s Pick 5 Contest.
Pits open at 9 a.m. with fan gates opening at 2 p.m. (advance ticket holders will be admitted at 1:30 p.m.). Adult admission is $25.00, youngsters 6 through 11 are admitted for $5.00 and under 6 are FREE with a paying adult.
The rain date for the Freedom 76 is Saturday, September 17th following the
same schedule.
Still to come at Grandview Speedway this season is open competition modified and
late model stock car racing on Saturday, September 17th (if not needed for
Freedom 76 rain date) and Saturday, September 24th.
And on Saturday, October 22nd the annual Grandview Speedway Racers Flea Market
will be presented with a 6 a.m. starting time.
The annual awards banquet has a new location and date because of the closing
of the Gilbertsville, PA Fire Hall’s banquet facilities. The banquet will return
to the Kutztown, PA Fire Hall on December 17th. Grandview Speedway had presented
their awards function there some years back but outgrew the facility. Seating
will be limited for the banquet and those planning to attend should be making
their reservations quickly.
Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, in
Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For race information telephone

RACE RESULTS BRIEF:
Shawn Reimert drove the Saracino/Kochel Equipment No. 91 to victory in the
Hatfield Quality Meats/Kreiser Race Fuels Night NASCAR Modified 30 lap feature
race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night while Sean Merkel took home his
second win in the NASCAR Late Model 20-lapper.
Reimert charged to the front on the fourth circuit of the one third mile clay
oval. With nine laps in the record book a multi car accident eliminated a large
number of cars with just 18 still running out of 30 starters. There were 10
cautions recorded in the first nine laps as the lightning quick track proved to
be quite a challenge for the Modified racing talents.
The Oley, PA racer was able to lead the balance of the 30-lapper to get his
first win of the season with Jeff Strunk coming on strong in the final laps to
grab second. Rick Schaffer was third followed by Ray Swinehart and Keith
Brightbill.
The 20-lapper for Late Models had Junior Grebe in front for the first six laps
with Gilbertsville’s Sean Merkel charging to the front on the seventh circuit
and leading the rest of the way. Second spot went to Mike Kellner followed by
Junior Grebe, John Giesler and Buddy Wharton.
The final point race of the season is set for Saturday, September 3rd with
racing starting at 7:30 p.m. The event will be sponsored by BPG Racing/Chad
Sinon Motorsports with twenty lucky fans having a chance to win FREE chances on

drawing will be held on September 10th and the winner and a guest gets to go on
the Champion’s Trip which is worth close to $3,000.

REIMERT AND MERKEL WIN NASCAR FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 28, 2005 . . . Shawn Reimert wanted to prove to
doubters that he could still win a NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature
race at Grandview Speedway and he did just that on Saturday night and he did it
in grand style picking up $2200 for his winning efforts in the 30-lap event that
started 30 cars.
The 20-lap feature race for NASCAR Late Models went, for the second time this
season, to Sean Merkel wheeling the Pheasantland Roller Rink #118 to victory.
Crashfest is what would best describe the first nine laps of the NASCAR Modified
feature with no less than 10 cautions during the early part of the race. The
field was cut from 30 starters down to just 18 still able to run with nine laps
complete.
Oley racer Reimert, driving the Saracino owned/Kochel Equipment sponsored No. 91
modified, went to the front after just four laps of the 30-lap feature. Early
leader Tommy Sheetz settled in to second as the crashfest took its toll lap
after lap.
With 10 laps in the record book and the field getting a single file restart
after a caution Reimert stayed in control charging well out in front leading all
the remaining laps. Only a caution brought on by a Danny Erb spin on the 29th
lap allowed the field to close up on the leader for a final lap shootout. Rick
Schaffer made a bold bid to get by Reimert in turn three but fell short with the
veteran driver getting his first win of the season. Jeff Strunk, now the NASCAR
Dodge Weekly Series champion for 2005, took second getting by Schaffer as the
two flew off the fourth turn toward the finish line. The Bethel, PA racer is now
a five time Grandview champion. Third went to Rick Schaffer (Woxall) followed by
Ray Swinehart (Bechtelsville) and Keith Bright bill (Mohnton).
In victory lane Reimert thanked his owners, crew and sponsors and talked about
winning the championship at Clearfield, PA Speedway on Friday night. Reimert won
at least seven features at Clearfield and fans at Grandview had been riding him
about not winning at the Bechtelsville oval. He feels his Saturday night win
should quiet the critics.
Terry Meitzler earned the Tom Oates Chevy Hard Charger award worth $100 for
coming from 28th starting position to take sixth.
The 20-lapper for the Late Models saw Sean Merkel charge past early leader
Junior Grebe on the seventh lap and lead all the rest of the laps making his
second win of the season look easy.
The Late Models put on caution free show with Lansdale’s Mike Kellner finishing
second to the Gilbertsville based Merkel. Third spot went to Junior Grebe
(Gilbertsville) followed by John Giesler (Aston) and Buddy Wharton (Birdsboro).
Ron Kline wrapped up his first NASCAR Late Model track championship getting an
eighth place finish in the main event.
Qualifying heat wins for the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds were won by
Shawn Reimert, Barry Readinger, Cliff Quinn, Tom Sheetz, and Craig VonDohren.
The consolation races were won by Mike Gular, Ed Scott and Mike Bailey with the
Cheers Tavern Cash Dash, worth $300, going to Craig VonDohren.
In Late Model preliminaries the wins were earned by Merkel, Kellner and Brian
Shuey while the Jim Brown Cash Dash went to Mike Kellner.

RACE RESULTS BRIEF:
Brian Shuey , who had not won a race all season, must have been saving his best
for a big event as he charged to the front on the 6th lap of the 30-lap Jerry
Glase/Chuck Sennott Memorial Late Model race on Saturday night at Grandview
Speedway and never looked back. Shuey, driving the Harry’s U-Pull-It Auto
Parts/Bob Fisher Chevy No. 5D, picked up $1000 for his winning effort. Meme
DeSantis wheeled the Eastern Rigging No. 11 to victory in the 30-lap NASCAR
Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature race for his first win of the season.
Buddy Wharton set the pace on the first lap of the Late Model feature race with
Dean Stoudt grabbing the lead on the second circuit. Four laps later Brian Shuey
was able to put his mount in front of the 26 car starting field and the Hamburg,
PA racer was able to lead the rest of the way to grab the win. Current point
leader Ron Kline finished second followed by Bill Henning, Dean Stoudt and Chuck
Schutz.
In the 30-lapper for Modifieds it looked as if either Jason Smythe or Rich Wisdo
would be able to grab their first career victories until the 24th circuit, after
a restart for a caution, when Meme DeSantis took control of the race and went on
to win. The Temple, PA racer earned $2200 for his victory. Second spot went to
Smythe followed by Wisdo, Barry Readinger and Mike Gular.
Tuesday, August 23rd the Late Models, Big Block Modifieds, 410 Sprints, 600cc
Modifieds and 600cc Sprints will all be featured in 25 lap main events with no
qualifying races. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m.
The Hatfield Quality Meats/Kreiser Race Fuels Night is set for Saturday, August
27th, 7:30 p.m. with at least 15 events of NASCAR Modified and Late Model stock
car racing being presented. Topping the show is a 30-lap feature for Modifieds
starting 29 cars and a 20-lap feature for Late Models with 24 cars taking the
green.

MEME DESANTIS AND BRIAN SHUEY GET FIRST WINS OF THE SEASON AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 21, 2005 . . . Veteran racer Brian Shuey must have been
saving his best effort for when it really counts and winning the Jerry Glase/Chuck
Sennott Memorial 30-lap Late Model race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night
was when it really counted. The Hamburg, PA racer earned $1000 for his first win
of the season.
In the 30-lap 3M NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature race Meme DeSantis
came from 9th starting spot to take the top spot on the 24th lap and lead the
rest of the way to get his first win of the season.
Buddy Wharton put his mount in front of the 26 car starting field in the Glase/Sennott
Memorial but his lead was short lived as four time champion Dean Stoudt went to
the front on the second lap. At the six lap marker Brian Shuey, coming from
seventh with his Harry’s U-Pull-It Auto Parts/Bob Fisher Chevy No. 5D, took the
lead.
Once in front Shuey was able to set the pace and claim the victory with Ron
Kline, the current Late Model point leader, nipping at his rear at the finish.
Kline (East Greenville) continues to lead in the chase for the NASCAR Late Model
championship. Third spot went to Bill Henning (Lansdale) who caught the crowds
attention with his tremendous charge to the front after having gone to the rear
of the field in the early laps of the feature event. Dean Stoudt (East
Greenville), a four time track champion, was a leader for a short time early in
the race, settled for fourth and defending track champion Chuck Schutz
(Pottstown) earned fifth spot.
Meme DeSantis had victory snatched from his grasp the previous Saturday when a
flat tire on a caution forced him to the pits while he was leading the Modified
feature race. This Saturday night DeSantis, at the wheel of the Eastern Rigging
No.11, was not to be denied as he charged through the field and challenged the
leaders Rich Wisdo and Jason Smythe for several laps. At the 24 lap marker
DeSantis was able to take advantage of a caution restart and charge to the front
and that is where he stayed for the balance of the 30-lap feature race.
Jason Smythe, looking for his first career win, lead for 23 laps of the feature
race and held off some strong challenges, featuring side-by-side action, from
Rich Wisdo. At the finish Smythe (Oley) had to settle for second and Wisdo
(Souderton) finished third. Fourth spot went to Barry Readinger (Reading)
followed by Mike Gular (Harleysville).
In victory lane a jubilant DeSantis gave the credit to the crew and car owner.
He pointed out that had it not been for the late race caution he did not think
he could have caught Smythe and Wisdo. He had high praise for the two racers.
And he pointed out that the track was in Freedom 76 condition and he was looking
forward to the September 10th $20,000 to win Modified Classic.
Current NASCAR Modified point leader Jeff Strunk was out early after a third
turn incident and was credited with 27th place in the finishing order.
Qualifying heat races for the Late Models were won by Sean Merkel, Brian Shuey
and Chuck Schutz while the six-lap Jim Brown Cash Dash was won by lady racer
Kelly Snyder, her first visit to victory lane at Grandview.
In the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified qualifiers wins were earned by Tracy
Readinger, Meme DeSantis, John Williman, Ray Swinehart and Jon Kellner. The
consolation races went to Jeff Strunk, Greg Humlhanz and Ryan Watt. The Cheer’s
Tavern Cash Dash was won by Ray Swinehart.
Official track photographer Don Marks missed covering his first event in 25
years as he was spending three days in the hospital as a result of lawn cutting
incident. He is expected to be back in action for the next Grandview Speedway
event.
Lap sponsorships for the T.H.Properties Freedom 76 (September 10) are now
available at $10 and $25 a lap. The lap sponsorship money goes to the leader of
the lap sponsored. The $25 lap sponsors will receive a big mention in the
special Freedom 76 program book and public address announcements. For

$1000 TO WIN JERRY GLASE/CHUCK SENNOTT MEMORIAL AT GRANDVIEW
Bechtelsville, PA August 14, 2005 . . . NASCAR Late Model racers will be in the
limelight at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, August 20th when the Jerry Glase/Chuck
Sennott Memorial 30 lap championship race is presented as part of 3M Night.
The race has been created to remember two people who were important members of
the Grandview family before their untimely passing. Jerry Glase was a long time
employee and a very important part of the track operations who lost his battle
with cancer and Chuck Sennott was a popular late model racer who was fatally
injured at another area track.
Mark Garman, a track official, was instrumental in putting the event together
and has announced that the race will pay $1000 to win and will feature a beefed
up purse with all starters earning extra money thanks to a long list of
sponsors.
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds will also be part of the show.
Racing will start at 7:30 p.m.
In other news from the track, Danny Erb put on a spectacular display of driving
on Saturday night during the Mavericks Motorcycle Club NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series Modified feature coming from 29th starting spot to finish 11th gaining 18
positions and earning a $100 Hard Charger bonus courtesy of Tom Oates Chevy in
Chester Springs, PA. Erb’s gain of 18 spots edged our feature winner Jeff Strunk
who went from 18th to first.
The Mavericks Motorcycle Club used the Saturday night promotion to raise funds
for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Pediatric Cancer Charity.
Jon Kellner and the Hutt’s Glass No.85 NASCAR Modified team leads the chase for
the $1000 being offered by Rossi Welding of Reading and D&S Archery of Barto to
the driver able to win the most NASCAR sanctioned qualifying heat races at
Grandview Speedway during the season. Kellner currently has seven qualifying
heat wins.
No fans have been fortunate enough to win the BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports
Pick 5 Contest so far this season. This Saturday night, August 20th, there will
be $900 waiting for a fan that can pick the top five in the order they finish.
Ballots are included in the official Grandview Groove track program. If no one
wins all the entries will be entered in a drawing for $500 cash at the
T.H.Properties Freedom 76 on September 10th. In addition all entries are entered
in a drawing for BPG Racing/Jeff Strunk sportswear and another drawing will be
held on August 20th with five lucky winners being announced.

are being sold for $10 and $25 each. The $10 lap gets the sponsor a mention in
the program book. The $25 Special Lap Sponsorship gets the sponsor a listing in
the program book and mentions on the public address system during the event
date. Lap sponsorship money goes to the leader of the lap being sponsored.
Almost half of the laps have already been taken.

NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified point leader Jeff Strunk looked like he
might have to settle for second on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway with
seven laps to go in the 30-lap feature and Meme DeSantis was leading. However a
left front flat tire discovered by track officials on a caution restart sent
DeSantis to the pits and Jeff Strunk to the front of the pack and he was able to
ride to his fourth NASCAR Modified feature win of the season and pretty much put
on a lock on his fifth track title.
In the 20-lapper for NASCAR Late Models John Giesler seemed to be content with
what looked like a sure second place finish to Randy Stoudt when Stoudt had
something break in the second turn while leading give the lead to Giesler. And
for the final two laps of the 20-lap feature the Aston, PA racer was able to
hold off the challenge of Brian Shuey and collect his first feature win since
April, 1998.
In the 30-lapper for the NASCAR Modifieds, sponsored by the Mavericks Motorcycle
Club, young Todd Smith lead the first lap with Sean Merkel taking the lead on
the second circuit of the one-third-mile, clay banked oval. Surviving a variety
of spins and a major pileup Merkel stayed in front of the field until the 17th
lap. Meme DeSantis charged to the front on a caution restart and looked like he
had what it would take to be the feature winner holding off the pinball action
of Strunk, Merkel, Tom Mayberry and Craig VonDohren as they swapped positions.
Earlier in the feature DeSantis had been told by officials that he had a left
front tire gone soft. On a 23rd lap restart after a caution officials told
DeSantis that the tire was flat on his Eastern Rigging No. 11 and, based on
track rules, he would have to take it to the pits giving the lead to Jeff
Strunk.
Once in front Strunk, driving the BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports NO. 88, was
able to hold off challenges from former track champion Tom Mayberry and Craig
VonDohren to grab his fourth win of the season and pretty much give him his
fifth track title with only three point events left to run. Second spot went to
Mayberry (Sellersville) followed by VonDohren (0ley), Terry Meitzler (Kutztown)
and Ryan Watt (Phoenixville).
Unofficially Strunk also earned a $100 Hard Charger bonus from Tom Oates
Chevrolet of Chester Springs, Pa for coming from 18th starting spot to finish
first.
The 20-lapper for the Late Models also had a wild finish with John Giesler, who
lead the first lap coming back to lead the final two and get a win. Mike Kellner
took the lead from the Aston, PA auto repair shop owner and set the pace until
the 8th lap when Junior Grebe moved to the front after a caution restart.
At the 10th lap Grebe was challenged by five feature winner Randy Stoudt and the
two put on quite a side-by-side battle for the top spot. At 17 laps with Stoudt
edging out front Grebe lost control in turn two and bounced on top of a couple
of infield tire markers putting him out for the night. One lap later Stoudt,
looking like a sure winner, suddenly came to a stop in turn two and had to be
towed off the track. Giesler got his lead back with two laps to go, held off the
charge of Brian Shuey (Hamburg), and the two crossed the finish line with
Giesler taking the win. Third spot went to two time champion Lou Egrie (Willow
Grove) followed by four time champion Dean Stoudt (East Greenville) and Steve
Sennott (Gilbertsville).
The entire 16 event show was run off in three and one half hours including a
close to 30 minute power failure brought on by an exploding transformer down the
road from the track.
Qualifying heat races for the Late Models were won by Dean Stoudt, Sean Merkel
and Mike Kellner while Mark Malcom was given the Consolation victory. Sean
Merkel won the Jim Brown Cash Dash.
Modified qualifiers were won by Doug Manmiller, Meme DeSantis, Kyle Weiss, John
Tschudy and Craig VonDohren. The consolations victories were earned by Donny Erb,
Keith Brightbill and Tom Umbenbauer while the Cheer’s Tavern Cash Dash went to
John Tschudy.
For
information on lap sponsorships and event sponsorship, special awards, telephone
Ernie Saxton at 215.752.7797.
The NASCAR Late Models will be in the limelight on Saturday, August 20th with
the running of the Jerry Glase/Chuck Sennott Memorial 30-lap championship for
the Late Model racing talents. The Late Models will be racing for an increased
purse with at least $700 going to the winner. There are a long list of sponsors
involved in this one. The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds will also be in
action. At least 15 big events of racing make up the night’s action package
program. Racing gets the green flag at 7:30 p.m.
Five big 25-lap features, no qualifying events, will make up the Bob
Miller/Bruce Rogers Thunder on the Hill event on Tuesday, August 23rd. Featured
will be the 410 sprints, Big Block Modifieds, Late Models, 600cc Modifieds and
600cc Sprints. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

STRUNK AND SINON FAREWELL TOUR IS OVER….FOR NOW
BLUE BELL, PA August 9, 2005 . . . The Jeff Strunk/Chad Sinon Farewell Tour is
over!! The team has been in the midst of a season long farewell tour as car
owner Sinon had announced plans to leave the sport. That would have left Strunk,
winner of close to 20 driving titles during his career, searching for a new
owner relationship for 2006 and beyond.
However other racers will not be happy to hear that news because Strunk and
Sinon have decided to keep their NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series and DIRT Modified
team intact for at least one more season.
“Alan Finch (crew chief) and Jeff (Strunk) have just worn me down. They have
kept after me about keeping this great team together,” said Sinon. “My wife,
Lauren, and my kids really want to keep the team together. The members of the
team, all of them, have been come an extension of our family.”
Sinon pointed out that he was not thrilled with the options facing Strunk for
the future if he were to pull out as car owner and sponsor.
“We have a great bunch of people working together now. I feel that I owe them AT
LEAST another season,” commented the popular car owner. “I enjoy the
competition. That is a thrill for me.”
The BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports team will finish the season at NASCAR
sanctioned Grandview Speedway (Bechtelsville, PA) and hopefully notch another
NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified championship and finish strong in the NASCAR
Division II point chase. The championship and a strong Division II finish will
be worth a lucrative amount of money to the team.
“We plan to run the rest of the NASCAR events scheduled at Big Diamond Raceway
on Friday nights,” said Sinon. “And we are planning to run all the DIRT Super
Series events left on the schedule plus the Grandview Speedway Thunder on the
Hill events.” BPG Racing is active as a sponsor with the Thunder on the Hill
Series.
In 2006 tentative plans have the Strunk and Sinon team, with Alan Finch as crew
chief, running a full season at Grandview Speedway going after another NASCAR
Dodge Weekly Series Modified title and making another run at the $25,000 being
offered for a Division II title or even better the NASCAR National title worth
about $150,000.
Strunk will run a full schedule of DIRT Super Series races and Sinon has
interest in the 358 Modified (Friday night events) being run at Bridgeport, NJ
Speedway for the 2006 season.
“I enjoy short track racing and I try to support it as much as possible. I feel
all owners should give back to the sport. The sport gives to them, so it is
logical, at least to me, that I as an owner make a point of giving back. Whether
it’s sponsoring a night, doing giveaways, or making appearances on behalf of the
tracks,” continued the successful Blue Bell, PA businessman. “Everyone that
races should be doing that before it is too late. People are quick to complain
but what did they do to make it better.”
Sinon has made a major contribution to the August 20th Jerry Glase/Chuck Sennott
Memorial Late Model race being run at Grandview Speedway.
In addition BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports has added a new sponsor. Mojo, a
sport fishing boat used for private charters and tournament fishing, out of
Ocean City, MD has joined a long list of sponsors already in place. Included on
the sponsor roster are Baringer Associates Insurance & Real Estate Services, Teo
Fabrications, Main Racing Engines, Penske Racing Shocks, Will’s Equipment
Painting, ISC Racer’s Tape, Bair Wheel Repair and the popular Restaurante
SanMarco in Ambler, PA.
Sinon is also involved in ownership/sponsorship with Mike Gular’s NASCAR
Modified team and Bobby Trapper’s Modified team.
On top of all that Sinon just recently visited the Victory Circle at Delaware
Park when a horse that he was involved with as a partial owner won a race.

Forrest Rogers Memorial presented by Stauffer Construction NASCAR Dodge Weekly
Series Modified race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. The victory was
worth $10,000 and marked the third time the veteran of more than 30 years as a

SWINEHART GETS THIRD ROGERS MEMORIAL AND KLINE EARNS FIFTH LATE MODEL FEATURE
WIN AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
Bechtelsville, PA August 7, 2005 . . . Two time NASCAR Modified champion Ray
Swinehart wheeled the P.K.Moyer Excavating No. 33 Modified to a resounding
victory in the 50-lap Forrest Rogers Memorial presented by Stauffer Construction
NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday
night. Ron Kline, current Late Model division point leader, was able to wheel
the Tom Oates Chevrolet No.4 Late Model to victory in the 20-lap main event for
Late Models.
Tom Umbenhauer was quick to come from third to first at the drop of the green
and lead the field into turn one. In fact Umbenhauer just kept leading the 29
car starting field lap after lap. At the 11 lap marker Umbenhauer was already
lapping some of the slower cars with Barry Readinger and Kenny Gilmore
following.
With 17 laps in the record book, Umbenhauer still in front of the pack, Barry
Readinger, running second, brought out the red flag when his car caught fire and
came to a stop in turn two. Readinger was not injured but his strong effort was
done for the night.
On the restart Kenny Gilmore was running second to the blistering pace being
sent by Umbenhauer.
At 26 circuits of the one-third-mile clay banked oval Shawn Reimert was now
second after Gilmore spun in turn four and had to go to the rear of the field.
Two laps later Ray Swinehart, coming from 10th starting spot, moved into second
and started to reel in the leader.
At 35 laps Ryan Watt spun off the fourth turn and that brought out a caution closing the field behind Umbenhauer. On the restart Swinehart was able to shoot to the front off turn two and once in fron the commanded the rest of the 50-lapper to pick up his third in a Forrest Rogers Memorial and earn $10,000. The Bechtelsville, PA racer also won the 25-lap feature the evening before at Big Diamond Speedway.
In victory lane Swinehart gave credit to his sponsors and his hard working crew. He also made a point of saying thank you to his wife.
There have been 10 different feature winners in the modified division of competition this season with four point races yet to be run.
Second spot went to Umbenhauer of Richland, PA with Mike Gular (Harleysville)
earning a third. Meme DeSantis (Temple), back in the Norm Hansell owned #357 for
the night, finished fourth coming from 16th starting spot. Four time track
champion and current point leader Jeff Strunk (Bethel) finished fifth after
having started 19th.
The 50-lap Memorial is run each year to remember the man who had the vision and
the plan and then built the one-third-mile, clay banked Grandview Speedway.
Former Late Model champion John Giesler lead the 24 car field down for the green and set th
