In the 125cc feature race, a tangle on lap 11 took out both the leader, Phil Durham and second place Andy Locuson. After the wreck, Chris Locuson took the lead and never looked back as he took the checkered flag. Courtney Johnson raced well for a second place finish.

David Brown Jr. won the 250 stock feature from the pole position. He used excellent restarts to maintain his lead. Marco Michetti rebounded nicely from a dq last week to take second place.
Chris Cepa won his first feature race in the 600cc class holding off Alex Swift for the entire race.

In the open class, Luke Fogg looked untouchable as he was never really challenged as he took the victory.

It wasn't Helio Castroneves or Tony Stewart climbing the fence after a victory at Airport Speedway on Saturday. It was Adam Brown after his victory in the 250 stock feature.

In the 270cc feature race, pole sitter, Richie Keller III dropped out of the race before the green flag had dropped. Drew Boyce inherited the pole position and never looked back as he took the flag to flag victory. It was his second consecutive feature win.
In the 125cc feature, Vince Vickers was able to hold off Chris Locuson who made a last lap pass to take second place.
Starting on the pole, Angelo Mercado raced unchallenged to a first place finish in the 600cc feature race. Billy Thomas tried his best to catch Mercado but had to settle for second.

Clayton Glassman won his first feature race in the 250 stocks Saturday. Points leader, Sam Locuson, went out early after a wreck on lap 4. The race also featured a red flag after Katie Fitzsimmons was hit hard on the back stretch.
After pole sitter, Travis Unger, brought out the caution at the start of the 600cc feature race, Eric Brobst inherited his track position and never looked back. Using great restarts, he was able to hold off hard charging Angelo Mercado who came from 13th to finish 2nd.

Jimmy Tippin took a flag to flag victory in the 250 open class. The 250 open also saw two female drivers finish in the top five. Ashley Camilleri finished 2nd and Jessica Lindmeier finished 4th. Points leader, Chuch Palmucci did not finish.
The 125cc class saw another flag to flag victory as Jimmy Tippin took the checkered flag. The "Loco" Locusons continued their stellar seasons with Chris finsihing 2nd and Andy finishing 3rd.

Durham, Locuson, Swift and DeVault Jr post victories

Alan Durham got the 125cc Feature off to a good start by taking the lead on the start. Ralph Parks quickly moved to second. The race was green until lap 14 when the first caution flew for a spin by Mark Landwher. On the restart Durham kept the lead for the next 11 circuits to post the win. Parks was not able to challenge and finished second.

The 250cc Stock Feature had Ed Gobbo leading the field to the Green Flag. Sam Locuson, starting in fifth position, passed Gobbo on lap 16 for the lead and his first Airport Feature win. Gobbo held second place at the finish. Erika Palmai and Cameron Bellinger got together on the frontstretch on lap 19 sending Bellinger up the wall and overturning. Both were done for the night.

The 600cc Feature endured numerous yellows with Alex Swift taking command of first place from the start. Meanwhile, after each yellow, Angelo Mercado was moving thru the field and finally into second. Mercado made several attempts to overtake Swift, but Swift was able to distance himself for the win.

In the 250/270cc Feature, several competitors took front and center stage during the early laps. First to hold the position was Randy Oswald. Then it was Jessica Lindmeier's turn for a few laps. Finally, Bob DeVault Jr passed Lindmeier for the lead on lap 18 and held it to the checkers. "Racin' Randy" Oswald was happy to finish, this time, in second place.

Fogg, Parks, Savaren and Mercado take Airport checkers

Eddie Wagner and Bob DeVault, Jr led the 250/270cc Feature to the Green Flag. On lap two, "Racin Randy" Oswald, moved by both to pick up the lead. Oswald led the field thru lap 12. On lap 13, Oswald's bad luck struck for the third week in a row as his shifter lever broke and he was done for the night. Luke Fogg, who had moved into second place by this time, took over the lead and held on for the win, his first of the '05 season at the Airport oval.

Ralph Parks in the 125cc Feature led all the way to pick up another win. In the 250cc Stock event, it was George Savaren, Jr picking up the Feature win. Starting on the pole, Savaren held the lead thru several restarts with Todd Elwell and Carl Locuson close behind for second and third.

John Pruitte and Bill Rose led the field to the Green Flag in the 600cc Feature. Pruitte led the chargers for the first four laps. On lap five, Pruitte went high thru turns three and four allowing the #3 of Angelo Mercado to swing by nderneath for the lead. Mercado went on to notch another Feature win.

Angelo Mercado won the 600cc feature race Saturday at Airport Speedway. He inherited the lead from Alex Swift who turned his car over after tangling with lap traffic on lap 4. Mercado held off any challengers with several excellent restarts.'

For the second straight week, "Racin" Randy Oswald went out with the lead in the 250 open class. And for the second straight week, Jimmy Cammock took over the lead and won the race.

Barry Pollard won his second consecutive 125cc feature. He took the lead from Alan Durham when Durham's car failed to accelerate on an early restart.

David Brown Jr., starting second, took the early lead from pole sitter Kenny Cummings and was able to hold him off for much of the race for the checkered flag in the 250 stock feature. The win was Brown's third.

Elwell, Oswald, Cammock, Pollard post Airport wins

Todd Elwell picked up his second Feature win of the season in the 250cc Stock Class. Elwell led from the pole followed all the way by Marco Michetti finishing second. In the 600cc Feature it was Randy Oswald all the way in the Donald Chess owned #24. Oswald was closely chased to the finish line by outside starter Jerry Allen. A Red Flag halted the racing for Andrew Hannula as he rolled his mount in turn three on lap 9. He suffered no serious injury. The car, however, was retired for the night.

The 250/270 Feature was captured by Jimmy Cammock driving the NuCar Performance Center machine. Cammock inherited the lead on lap two as Randy Oswald's car suffered a mechanical failure. TheRed Flag flew a short time later for a tangle between Todd Elwell and Ken Andreas. A ruptured fuel cell on the Elwell 19T caused some extensive track clean-up before racing could continue.

In the 125cc Feature, Barry Pollard picked up the lead on lap one as he passed leader Randy Oswald. It was the second win of the '05 season for Pollard.

It was an "Oswald night" as Randy was the winner in three of the night's four Class Heat Races putting him on the pole for each Feature event.

     It was a case of sibling rivalry Saturday at Airport Speedway as Chris Locuson took the lead and the win from twin brother Andy in the 125cc class feature. Andy settled for second. Each brother has two feature wins this season.
       In the 250 stock class, Richie Keller Jr. held off Marco Michetti and Katie Fitzsimmons for the win. It was Fitzsimmons' second consecutive top 5 finish.
       Alex Swift took the checkered flag in a 600cc feature that had seven DNF's and numerous cautions.
       Chuck Palmucci continued his stellar season with another feature win in the 250 open class. Ken Andreas raced well for a second place finish.

At Airport Speedway, the 250cc open class feature was won by Chuck Palmucci. He took the lead on lap 21 from David Reinhardt, who had led the whole race.
       Vince Vickers took the checkered flag in the 125cc class with a flag to flag win.
       Todd Elwell won the 250cc stock feature, holding off pole sitter Katie Fitzsimmons, whom he passed early.
       Bill Rose won the 600cc feature. It was just his sixth race in a 600cc car. Angelo Mercado took second after starting 16th.

There was perfect weather for racing on Saturday at Airport Speedway in New Castle, DE.

In the 250cc stock feature, Luke Thomas took the win after almost losing control on lap 22 when he got tangled with lap traffic.

Stewart Carmichael won the 600cc class feature after taking the lead on lap 19 when Angelo Mercado, who was leading at the time, pulled out of the race.

In the 250cc open class, Todd Elwell got his second career feature win. His first win came two weeks ago at Airport Speedway.

Andy Locuson won his second consecutive 125cc class feature. He becomes the first 125cc driver to get two wins on the season.

The exciting lawnmower racers made their second appearance of the season. A scary wreck led to Holland Woodall going to the hospital with lower back pain after his mower flipped.

Airport speedway's streak of having a different winner each week in the 125cc class feature remains intact after Saturday's races.

Andy Locuson got his first feature win and became the sixth different driver to win a 125cc feature in six weeks.

In the 250cc stock class, Adam Brown was able to hold off Kady Wills for much of the race. Brown was also a first time winner.

Angelo Mercado took the victory in the 600cc class with a flag to flag victory as he won from the pole and never lost the lead despite late pressure from Snookie Vent.

After Chuck Palmucci and Bob DeVault, who were numbers one and two in the points standings, dropped out due to an early crash, Kenny Andreas was able to take the checkered flag in the 250/270cc class.

The quarter midgets of the Blackbird Quarter Midget club, which is the training ground for many micro sprint drivers, had an exhibition race. It was won by Alex Mayer.

Five feature races were run once again on Saturday at Airport Speedway in New Castle, DE.
In the 600cc class feature, Davey Sammons was able to take the win after holding off a hard charging Chad Clark for much of the race.

Richie Keller Jr. took the checkered flag in the 250cc stock class in a race that was marred by a five car pile up that brought out the red.

In the 125cc class, Ralph Parks took the lead from Courtney Johnson on lap 20 and held on for the victory.
The 250cc open class feature was won by Todd Elwell. It was his first ever feature win.
Kenny Cummings won the 250cc stock make up feature race from May 21.

The feature race for the visiting 600 mods was won by Thomas Martocci of Kunkletown, PA.

Fans at Airport Speedway in New Castle, Delaware were treated to five feature races on Saturday because of make up races from May 14.

The 600cc race also saw two red flags. The first came out to reposition the cars after a caution. The second came when Rich Nutter and Stan Tykarski wrecked hard coming down the front straight away.

Tykarski was uninjured, but Nutter was taken to Christiana hospital with a concussion after being unconscious for about one minute.
In the make up races, Chuck Palumucci took the checkered flag in the 250 open class. Alan Durham took home the checkered in the 125cc class.

Palmucci also took the win in the scheduled feature race in the 250 open class.
In the scheduled 125cc feature, Barry Pollard was able to hold off Ralph Parks for much of the race to take the win.
Due to time restraints, the 250 stock class feature will be made up the weekend of June 4.

RAIN KO's AIRPORT RACES

Despite efforts by the ground crew to prepare a good racing surface, a heavy
thunderstorm washed out Airport Speedway races for Saturday, April 23.

While the second of four Classes were warming up, the storm hit and ended
any hope of continuing the night's event.

Micro-Sprint races at Airport Speedway continue next Saturday, April 30 with
warm-ups at 6pm and racing at 7pm.

Lid Lifter Invitational, $1,000-to-win, goes into the record book The first record was that some 140 cars came to the 1/8th mile oval to do battle on a chilly Saturday night in April. The second was it took them over seven hours to complete the event.

In the end, three of the four Feature races were won by visitors. The final race of the night, the 250cc Stock Class event was won by Airport regular Chuck Palmucci.

The 125cc Feature was won by Jack Brubaker in a Green to Checker run from his #1 starting position. 250/270cc winner, Mike Rutherford, inherited the lead late in the race when Chuck Palmucci's #16 suffered mechanical failure handing the lead over to Rutherford.

The 600cc contest continued in much the same fashion as the 250/270 event. Andrew Wegand looked like he had the $1,000 in the bank only to hand the lead over to Steve Buckwalter on lap 24 of the 30 lapper after a tangle in turn four.

Chuck Palmucci redeemed himself during the final event of the night as he went on to win the 250cc Stock Feature over Kady Wills with the final Checkered Flag waving at 1:40am Sunday morning.
