STRUNK AND SCHUTZ HONORED AS CHAMPIONS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY BANQUET

GILBERTSVILLE, PA November 20, 2004 . . . For the fourth time in his storied career Jeff Strunk was honored as the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified stock car driving champion at Grandview Speedway when close to 500 people turned out for the annual awards banquet on Saturday night at the Gilbertsville, PA Fire Hall. Sharing the spotlight was Chuck Schutz winner of his second NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series ShorTrack Late Model championship.
It was a very lucrative night for Bethel, PA’s Strunk and his car owner Chad Sinon, a successful Blue Bell, PA businessman, as they received $10,000 for winning the track championship in addition to NASCAR point fund money and $21,500 as third place finisher in the NASCAR New England Regional point battle. Grandview Speedway track owner Bruce Rogers and his son, Kenny, who assists him with the operation of the track,  presented the huge trophies and checks. Grandview continues to be the only track in the area that offers two separate point funds for the competitiors.
Strunk also received a custom created championship ring along with a trip for two to Aruba. The trip, valued at more than $3,000, is a special perk, a token of appreciation for the driver’s support, offered to the Modified champion each year by the Rogers family.
The four time Modified champion tallied 4946 points and had five feature wins on his way to the 2004 championship. Craig VonDohren (Oley) finished second with 4844 points (two wins) while Meme DeSantis of Temple, PA was third with 4477 counters and two wins.
Ten different drivers were able to win features this season out of the total of 20 NASCAR Modified features run.
Chuck Schutz (Pottstown) and his car owner Ty Zeigler celebrated a second championship for Schutz and picked up point fund money from Grandview Speedway and sanctioning organization NASCAR.
Schutz won one feature and tallied 5260 points as he was able to top defending champion Randy Stoudt (Pottstown) by more than 500 points. Stoudt, winner of 5 features, earned 4725 points in NASCAR sanctioned events. Third spot went to Ron Kline of Salfordville with 4460 counters and two main event wins.
Schutz has announced that he will not return to defend his title as he plans to "take to the road" racing on the traveling late model circuits with Hagerstown, MD Speedway being a regulars stop.
The top twenty drivers and top ten car owners in each division were honored during the evening of awards.
Representing NASCAR was Kevin Nevalainen who presented awards to the top three finishers in each division, a special 4th place award for Chuck Schutz in the New England Regional ShorTrack point chased and to Craftsman Regional Mechanic Award winner Ken Sandman.
Chris Shuey got the lion’s share of $1050 in bonus money presented by Bill Devine/Devine Transport to the drivers winning the most Late Model qualifying heat races during the season. Shuey had eight wins. Others sharing in the loot were Jr. Grebe and Steve Todorow sharing second place while Harry Neiman, Brian Shuey and Jason Miller shared third place.
And Craig VonDohren, winner of seven Modified qualifying heats, picked up $1000 from D&S Archery of Barto and Rossi Welding of Reading, PA.
Rookie of the Year honors went to Jimmy Reppert (Modifieds) and Mike Kellner (Late Models).
The Most Improved Driver Award was presented to Mike Gular in the Modifieds and veteran Brian Shuey in the Late Model division.
Amanda Spotts earned the Best Newcomer Award in Modifieds while young Jesse Willman got the honor in Late Models.
The Hard Luck Awards, the award most racers do not want to earn, went to Bill Henning in Late Models and John Willman in Modifieds.
Modified racer Doug Manmiller was a happy recipient of the Sportsmanship Award in the Modifieds and the same was true for three time champion John Giesler in the Late Models.
Best Dressed Crew Awards went to the Dennis Bailey #81 Modified team and the Frank McCarthy/Lou Egrie #X4 Late Model team.
Jason Miller’s #44 took the Best Appearing Car award in the Late Model division and Bob Trapper"s #66 got the honor in the Modified division.
Jim Brown, a very popular fan at Grandview Speedway, received a standing ovation when he was introduced. Brown posted $250 out of is own pocket each week so the Late Models could have their own Cash Dash race. Brown has been a long time support of Kenny Gilmore and his dad, Charley Gilmore.
More fans participated in the voting for the Grandview Groove Most Popular Driver Awards this year and the honors went to Amanda Spotts in Modifieds and Kelly Snyder in the Late Models.
Several special awards were presented to sponsors including T.H. Properties, sponsor of the Freedom 76, and Stauffer Construction, sponsor of the Forrest Rogers Memorial race. And appreciation awards went to more than a dozen members of the media who were the guest of the speedway. Special thanks awards went to several push and tow truck operators that are at the track for all shows keeping the show moving.
All special guests and officials were introduced by track announcer and public relations person Ernie Saxton who served as the Master of Ceremonies.
Banquet guests enjoyed a home style dinner of ham and roast beef followed by the awards and the evening closed out with music for dancing.
The 2005 season will kick off with a free-to-the-public practice session on Saturday, March 26th starting at noon. The season officially gets the green on April 2nd when the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds and Late Models race in a doubleheader sponsored by Susquehanna Patriot Bank.
Fans are reminded that 2005 Season Passes, really money savers that include all Saturday night racing events (except the five 25 features program on October 15th), are presently available for just $275. Season passes save fans from standing in ticket lines plus save some money on the overall cost of weekly tickets. Telephone 610.754.7688 to order tickets which would make a great Christmas gift for a race fan.

STRUNK AND SHUEY WIN OPEN COMP FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA  SEPTEMBER 25, 2004 . . . Jeff Strunk, the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified Champion at Grandview Speedway, survived more than a dozen cautions and a "hot foot" to win the 30-lap Open Competition Modified feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. And it was Brian Shuey leading all the laps to win the 20-lap Open Competition Late Model stock car feature race.
It took two cautions to get the 30-lap Modified feature started and Strunk, who calls Bethel, PA home,  was able to charge to the front of the 28-car starting field with Mike Gular close behind. And that was pretty much the story of the race as Strunk lead all the laps to bring the BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports entry home first and pick up the $2200 first place money. At the midway marker the race was restarted single file after a caution and the final laps were run without incident. Strunk ran the final 10 laps with hot steering fluid on his leg and in his shoe causing him to suffer some minor leg burns.
Gular (Harleysville), who will be Strunk’s teammate next season in a two car BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports team, was able to close on Strunk, even challenge him a couple of times, but had to settle for second. Third spot went to Keith Bright bill (Mohnton) followed by Jon Kellner Sr. (Lansdale) and Meme DeSantis (Temple).
The 20-lap Late Model feature had Brian Shuey(Hamburg) taking the lead at the drop of the green and having a relative easy time of it as he rode to a comfortable win…..leading all the laps. Young Mike Kellner, a 16 year old high school student from Lansdale, was able to come home with a strong second place finisher while veteran racer Lee Miller (New Tripoli) finished third. Four time track late model champion Dean Stoudt earned fourth while visitor Dave Zona was fifth.
The open competition format of the show did attract a large number of visitors giving fans an opportunity to see some unique driving styles and some interesting race cars.
Qualifying heat races for the Modifieds went to Jeff Strunk, Keith Brightbill, Mike Gular and Craig VonDohren while Bobby Gunther Walsh and Ray Swinehart won the consolation races. Jeff Strunk won the Cheers Tavern Cash Dash worth $350.
For the Late Models qualifying races were won by Mike Kellner, Brian Shuey and Greg Hoffmaster. Lou Egrie won the consolation race and it was Brian Shuey getting the Jim Brown Cash Dash victory.
Next event on the schedule is the Halloween Thunder Celebration on Saturday, October 16th, 6 p.m. The event will include features only (25 laps each) for NASCAR Modifieds, NASCAR Late Models, DIRT Southeast Series Modifieds, URC Sprints and Legends. In addition there will be a special race for URC sprint non-feature winners and there will be an exhibition of vintage race cars.
On Saturday, October 23rd, 7 a.m. the annual Grandview Speedway Racer’s Flea Market will be presented in the speedway pit area. For information telephone 610.754.7688.
Already plans for the 2005 season are being discussed with the annual practice day tentatively scheduled for the last Saturday in March, (March 26th) 2005 with opening day to follow for the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models on Saturday, April 2nd. Patriot Bank will sponsor the opening night show. Several events already have sponsorship support but opportunities do exist for sponsorship of race events, billboard advertising and track magazine advertising.
Grandview Speedway is a one-third-mile, banked clay oval, NASCAR sanctioned, located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown. RACING RAINED OUT AT GRANDVIEW, SEASON FINALE ON SATURDAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 18, 2004 . . . Torrential rains and high winds forced event organizer Bruce Rogers to cancel the Saturday show of open competition Modified and Late Model stock car racing at Grandview Speedway.
Rogers is best known for sticking it out to the bitter end before calling a show because of weather but Friday night rains had turned the track and the surrounding speedway grounds into a sea of mud. The weather forecast did not call for anything but more rain, so Rogers not knowing, even if the rain stopped, if he could get the track into racing condition, decided to cancel early.
"It was the best decision to make. There was no use in having fans and racers sitting around all day waiting to see if we would get a break and be able to race. Everything we looked at regarding the weather for the day indicated that it was going to be a rainy and cold day. We tossed in the towel early," said Rogers.
The final regular season Saturday night show, featuring open competition Modifieds and Late Models will be run on Saturday, September 25th with a 7 p.m. starting time. It is expected that there will be outsiders testing their talents against the Grandview regulars in this non-point event. The open competition format gives the racers an opportunity to test some "ideas" for the 2005 season.
A full series of qualifying events topped by a 30 lap feature for the Modifieds and a 20-lap feature for the Late Models will be presented.
A Halloween Thunder Celebration show will be presented on Saturday, October 16th, 6 p.m. featuring the NASCAR Modifieds, DIRT Southeast Series Modifieds, NASCAR Late Models, URC Sprints and Legend cars. This will be five 25-lap features with no qualifying events or time trials. Fans and racers are invited to attend wearing their best Halloween attire and there will be prizes.
On Saturday, October 23rd, 7AM the annual Grandview Speedway Racer’s Flea Market will be presented. This is an opportunity for racers to sell some of their "excess" parts and equipment or even pick up a bargain.
2004 Track Champions Jeff Strunk (NASCAR Modifieds) and Chuck Schutz (NASCAR Late Models) will be honored at the annual track awards banquet on Saturday, November 20th at the Gilbertsville, PA Fire Hall. The banquet annually attracts more than 400 people. Tickets are available by contacting the speedway at 610.754.7688.
And on Saturday, November 27th, the Grandview Speedway Champion’s Trip heads for Aruba. Jeff Strunk, the Modified champion, and his guest will lead a contingent of fans, racers and others on a eight day, seven night trip to the beautiful island of Aruba to enjoy some sun and fun. The trip is presented each year to the Modified champion by the Rogers Family as a way of saying thanks for their support of the track. There are still some opportunities available to be part of the trip. Telephone Marilyn Saxton at 215.752.2392.
A few copies of the 56-page T.H.Properties Freedom 76 program book remain. JEFF STRUNK WINS T.H.PROPERTIES FREEDOM 76 WORTH $20,000 PLUS

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 11, 2004 . . . For the second straight year Jeff Strunk was able to drive the Chad Sinon Motorsports/BPG Racing #88 Modified to victory in the T.H.Properties Freedom 76 Modified Classic at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. The victory, the sixth of the season for Strunk in Saturday night stock car racing events at the Berks County one-third-mile, banked clay oval earned the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified Champion $20,000 plus lap money and a championship ring (valued at $1,000).
The Bethel, PA racer, a four time track champion, complimented second place finisher Meme DeSantis on his clean driving efforts as the two battle closely a few time for the top spot. As usual Strunk gave his crew and his car owner, Chad Sinon, much of the credit for the winning effort as he celebrated the win in victory lane.
Shawn Reimert charged to the green leading the 40 car starting field through the first turn and set the pace for the first 12 laps. Jeff Strunk, starting 8th by luck of the draw, came to the front of the pack on the 13th circuit after surviving numerous cautions and red flags for a variety of accidents.
Meme DeSantis, driving the Dina tale #11D after parting ways with car owner Norm Hansell and the #357 Modified which the team had won numerous races including a Freedom 76, charged from his 14th starting spot to 2nd and was challenging Strunk. On several restarts DeSantis was able to go side-by-side with the leader only to have to settle back in second spot.
At 32 laps with Strunk and DeSantis still in the top two spots Jon Kellner had moved up to third only to have sparks flying out the rear and the Hutts Glass #85AM coming to a stop in the third turn done for the night.
At the halfway mark the top five had Strunk in front, racking up the lap sponsorship money, DeSantis second followed by Craig VonDohren who charged through the pack from 31st starting position, Kevin Harnett coming from 19th starting spot and Kyle Weiss.
Two laps later a mandatory fuel stop brought the field to a stop. Almost half the 40 starters had been eliminated because of mechanical woes and accidents.
On the restart Jeff Strunk, choosing the outside of the front row, charged out in front of the pack with DeSantis and VonDohren following.
At the 47 lap marker Kevin Hartnett got around VonDohren to take third and start reeling in DeSantis.
The final 29 laps saw Strunk keep control, with DeSantis (Temple) making a charge for first on a couple of caution flag restarts but falling short. Kevin Hartnett (Perkasie) put pressure on DeSantis but time ran out and he had to settle for third when the checkered flag fell. Craig VonDohren (Oley) came home fourth. Mike Gular (Harleysville), who visited the pit area a couple times, pulled off a strong effort to finish fifth. Less than half the starting field of 40 cars was around at the finish of the 76 lap event.
Qualifying events for the more than 80 cars that showed up to earn starting spots in the race were won by Danny Erb, Bobby Trapper, Rick Laubach, Donny Erb, Meme DeSantis, Mike Gular, Ron Solomon Jr. and Danny Johnson.  Brian Weaver won the first consolation with Larry Solomon tops in the second consolation.
The Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20, starting 20 cars, was won by Jason Hamilton followed by Barry Readinger, Billy Pauch Jr., Jack Hartnett and Kenny Gilmore. The top five finishers earned starting spots in the T.H.Properties Freedom 76.
Meme DeSantis made winning look easy as he topped the 11 car starting field in the Cheers Tavern Cash Dash. The victory earned DeSantis $1000.
Coming up on Saturday, September 18th is open competition modified and late model stock car racing starting at 7 p.m. The annual open competition events feature a number of outsiders who want to test their skills against the Grandview Speedway regulars. And the regulars get to test some "new concepts" as they try for victories in the final regular season events. And the same show will be featured on Saturday, September 25th, which will be the regular season finale at the Berks County oval.
There are still a couple of seats left on the Champion’s Trip to Aruba. This is an 8-day, 7-night trip with Jeff Strunk, Grandview Speedway Modified Champion, and his guest. Strunk’s car owner Chad Sinon will be part of the trip as will five time URC sprint car champion Dave Kelly plus many others. "Chaperones" are Ernie and Marilyn Saxton. Travelers will fly from Philadelphia and stay in a luxurious waterfront hotel. Many of the meals included. You will be part of the champion’s party and there are many other extras. It could very well be the best vacation you have ever taken. Telephone Marilyn Saxton at 215.752.2392.

WITH THE POINTS RACE OVER,  ATTENTION TURNS TO RICH T.H.PROPERTIES FREEDOM 76 PAYING $20,000 TO WIN AT GRANDVIEW  BRING OUT THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE FOR SEPT. 11

BECHTELSVILLE, PA SEPTEMBER 5, 2004 . . . The championship chases are over and all attention now centers  on the rich T.H.Properties Freedom 76 Modified Classic, the 34th annual, which will reward the winner with $20,000 or more. The race takes place on Saturday, September 11th at 7 p.m. Pre-race festivities get started at 3 p.m. and include race car displays, autograph opportunities and driver interviews. Fans are asked to bring out their red, white and blue (dress in those colors or bring an American flag) as the race is being presented on a day that brings back memories of horrible attacks by terrorists (perhaps better name cowards) on New York, the Pentagon and West Pennsylvania.
Jeff Strunk won his fourth NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified Championship, his second in a row for car owner Chad Sinon, a successful Blue Bell, PA businessman. And Strunk, coming off a strong season that included five feature wins, has to be rated as a strong favorite to win his second straight T.H.Properties Freedom 76.
More than 80 modified racers are expected to try for a starting spot in the classic and many former winners will be there including Donny Erb, Craig VonDohren, Tom Mayberry, Smokey Warren, Meme DeSantis, and Jeff Strunk. Dirt track stock car ace Billy Pauch has won the most with six previous wins. Duane Howard, another standout on the local dirt track ovals, is a two time winner. Other popular modified racing talents that have been to victory lane in the T.H.Properties Freedom 76 include Kenny Brightbill and Doug Hoffman.
In an informal survey many racers have picked Strunk as a favorite to win. And there are a large number who have selected five time track champion Craig VonDohren as a favorite to win the lucrative event. Others who have been picked as possible winners are Jon Kellner, Sr., winner of the rich Stauffer Construction Forrest Rogers Memorial earlier in the season, and Meme DeSantis, always a popular racer at Grandview Speedway. Of course the opportunity for victory is open to any of the competitors that show up on Saturday, September 11th and have a lot of luck on the their side.
It is expected that several "outsiders", racers who do not regularly compete at the one-third-mile, clay banked oval, will be on hand to try for the $20,000 first place money.
Adult admission for the race is $25.00 with youngsters 6 through 11 admitted for just $7.00. Kids under 6 are admitted FREE when accompanied by a paying adult. Advance tickets are on sale at the track each race night leading up to the date of the event.
A full slate of qualifying events will lead up to the Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 (last chance to make the big race) and finally the T.H.Properties Freedom 76. In addition there will be a rich Cash Dash sponsored by Cheers Tavern.
Kochel Motorsports has posted $200 (Cash) for the First Alternate (the racer who comes closest to making the big race but falls short by one spot) and there is the Joey Adams Helmet Graphics Award (valued at more than $200) along with a custom created Freedom 76 championship ring valued at more than $1000. Area Auto Racing News is giving gift subscriptions to those non qualifiers who take part in the Minuteman 20. More than $500 in lap sponsorship money has also been posted for the 76-lap classic.
There are opportunities for additional lap sponsorships at $10.00 per lap with that money going to the leader of the lap being sponsored. For details telephone Ernie Saxton at 215.752.7797 or 215.752.2392.
A special Freedom 76 Souvenir Track Magazine, more than 50 pages with loads of color photos, will be available. The book, always a sellout, will include stories on the track champions, season statistics, a history of the Freedom 76 plus much more. The book will be available for just $5.00 at the track. Those who want to get a copy through the mail can send $7.50 to ESC, Inc., 1448 Hollywood Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047. Books will be mailed the day prior to the Freedom 76.
Fans are also reminded that time is running out to purchase a chance on the greatest vacation of their lifetime, an 8-day, 7-night stay in Aruba. Just 30 chances remain available. This is a trip for two. This is one of the most popular vacation destinations with beautiful beaches and casino gambling opportunities. The Champion’s Trip (the Grandview Speedway Modified champion and guest will be on the trip) takes place November 27th through December 4th and is valued at more than $3,000 for two. Chances are available at the track for just $20.00 each and only 150 chances are being sold with 75% of the chances already spoken for. For information telephone 215.752.7797. You can order chances using a credit card if you order two or more.
Grandview Speedway is a one-third-mile, banked clay oval, NASCAR sanctioned, located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown. Bechtelsville, PA September 5, 2004 …For the second time this season Doug Manmiller wheeled the American Dental #00 Modified to victory in the 30-lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature race on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. And it was Jason Miller winning the 20-lap feature for NASCAR ShorTrack Late Models.
Craig VonDohren came from 14th to finish in second spot but never really gave Man miller a strong challenge in the Chad Sinon Motorsports/BPG Racing sponsored feature race. Third place went to Jeff Strunk, coming from 20th starting spot, while John Tschudy earned fourth followed by Donny Erb.
Rick Todorow was coming on strong in the final laps by fell short in his effort to win the 20-lapper for Late Models and had to settle for second. Chuck Schutz was able to grab third followed by Randy Stoudt and Dean Schaeffer.
Jeff Strunk won the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified championship for the fourth time and his second straight year with car owner Chad Sinon. Chuck Schutz is the 2004 NASCAR ShorTrack Late Model champion, his second championship at Grandview Speedway.

DOUG MANMILLER AND JASON MILLER WIN FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW
STRUNK IS MODIFIED CHAMPION, SCHUTZ TOPS IN LATE MODELS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA Sept 5, 2004 . . . Doug Manmiller drove the American Dental
Service #00 Modified to his second feature win of the season in the 30-lap Chad Sinon Motorsports/BPG Racing NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. And Jason Miller tabbed his third main event win the 20-lap NASCAR ShorTrack Late Model feature race.
By virtue of a strong third place finish in the feature Jeff Strunk (Bethel) won the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified Championship for the fourth time during his storied career. Strunk and car owner Chad Sinon, a successful Blue Bell, PA businessman, teamed to win the championship for the second season in a row.
Chuck Schutz (Pottstown) is the NASCAR ShorTrack Late Model champion for the second time at Grandview Speedway.
In the 30-lap Modified feature race John Tschudy was the early frontrunner and looked as if he may have what it takes to win his first career feature victory. The Birdsboro racer set the pace until the midway point. Doug Manmiller coming from 12th took the lead from Tschudy on the 16th lap after a couple of laps of side-by-side action. Multi time track champion Craig VonDohren, making a run for another championship, moved into second, coming from 14th, on the 19th circuit with current point Jeff Strunk in sixth spot. For the final 10 laps Manmiller, who calls Wyomissing home, was able to keep the American Dental Modified in front of the pack and take the checkered flag first to earn the $2200 first place money. Craig VonDohren (Oley) finished with a strong second place effort but it was not enough to grab his sixth track title. Jeff Strunk started 20th  and worked his way through the pack to grab a third place finish and retain his championship status for another season. John Tschudy brought his Rossi Welding sponsored entry home fourth for his strongest outing this season at the Berks County oval. Donny Erb (Douglassville) challenged for the top spot early in the race and ran in the top five throughout the entire 30 lap feature earning a fifth place finish.
Meme DeSantis, always a fan favorite, had to take a provisional starting spot in the 30 car feature and then came from 30th to9th for the hard charger effort of the night.
Buddy Wharton brought the 26 car Late Model feature field to the green but his front running spot was short lived as Dean Schaeffer went to the front on the second lap. Jason Miller (New Tripoli) brought the Rothrock Auto Sales #44 to the front of the field on the 6th. Miller got the jump on Schaeffer on a caution restart. Once in front there was no one that could catch him and the veteran racer rode to his third win of the season. Second spot was earned by Rick Todorow (Quakertown) who seemed to be reeling in the leader in the final laps. Third spot in the 20-lap main event went to 2004 Late Model champion Chuck Schutz. The 2003 champion Randy Stoudt (Pottstown) finished fourth with early leader Dean Schaeffer getting fifth place.
Qualifying heat races for the NASCAR ShorTrack Late Models went to Chris Shuey (earning him the biggest share of the bonus bucks put up by Devine Transportation for the Late Models winning the most qualifying events during the NASCAR season), Mike Kellner and Jason Miller. Shuey also won the Jim Brown Cash Dash.
In the preliminary events for the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds wins went to Kyle Weiss, Jimmy Reppert, John Willman, Kenny Gilmore and Danny Erb. Three consolations were need with well over 50 Modifieds in competition. Wins went to Jon Kellner Jr., Keith Brightbill and Jason Smythe. The Cheers Tavern Cash Dash was won by Kyle Weiss.
Just a few raffle tickets are available that could win a trip for two as part of the annual Champion’s Trip in late November (Nov. 27th to December 4th). This year the trip goes to Aruba for eight days and seven nights. Raffle tickets for the trip (the trip is valued at more than $3000 and is for two people) are priced at $20.00 each. About 30 tickets remain available. Each Saturday night stock car feature winner, since June, has received a free chance on the trip courtesy of Ernie Saxton Communications, Inc. The track’s Modified champion, Jeff Strunk,  and a guest will participate in the trip as a perk for winning the title and supporting the racing activities at Grandview Speedway.
On Saturday, September 11, 7 p.m. the T.H.Properties Freedom 76 Classic will be presented featuring a 76 lap main event with $20,000 going to the winner. Cheers Tavern will sponsor the Cash Dash worth $1000 for the winner. A full series of qualifying heats and the Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 will lead up to the feature race. Pre race festivities will start at 3 p.m. including autograph sessions, race car displays, driver interviews and music. Rain date is Saturday, September 18th at 7 p.m.

MOTORSPORTS 2005 PRESENTED BY SUNOCO IS 20TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW
LOOKING FOR ALL PAST MS MOTORSPORTS WINNERS

FORT WASHINGTON, PA August 28, 2004 . . . Motorsports 2005 Presented by Sunoco, the mid-winter motorsports happening for fans and racers, will be celebrating its 20th anniversary when the show is presented at the Fort Washington, PA Expo Center, January 14th through 16th.
And the show will have a new look. Show organizer Len Sammons and show manager Joe Pratt have been working the Expo Center staff and have created a complete new layout for the show. "We have created a show layout that will make it much easier to get around the show floor and be able to see all the attractions with a minimum of congestion," said Sammons. "Show attendees, those who have been to previous shows, will not recognize the place. And we have a lot of special promotions being planned as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the event."
Part of the anniversary celebration will be appearances by former winners of the very popular Ms. Motorsports contest. Sammons is making an effort to locate all the winners and invite them to be part of special activities that will surround the 2005 Ms. Motorsports competition. Former winners are asked to contact the show office at 609.888.3618. "The appearance of former winners will bring back some great show memories. SHORT STORY VERSION (For radio, TV and columnists)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STRUNK AND CHRIS SHUEY WIN FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA AUGUST 28, 2004 . . . Jeff Strunk won his fifth NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night and moved closer to notching his fourth NASCAR Modified championship. And it was Chris Shuey winning his fifth NASCAR ShorTrack Late Model feature race as part of Kreiser Race Fuels/3M Night.
Craig VonDohren made Strunk work for the victory in the 30 lap main event running side-by-side with him in the final laps but he had to settle for second followed by Mike Bailey, who lead for several laps, Jon Kellner Sr. and Tracy Readinger.
Jason Miller tried to give Shuey a battle in the 20-lapper for Late Models but was a few car lengths behind when the checkered flag fell on what could have been described as a destruction derby for the first few laps. Chuck Schutz, the new NASCAR ShorTrack Late Model champion, finished third followed by 2003 champion Randy Stoudt and Ron Kline.
The NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models, at least 14 events of stock car racing racing, will be part of the BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports Night at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 4, 7:30 p.m. A 30-lap feature tops the program for the Modifieds while 26 late models will battle in the 20-lap feature for Late Model stock cars. This will be the final point events of the season. The champions will be decided.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JEFF STRUNK AND CHRIS SHUEY EACH NOTCH THEIR FIFTH FEATURE WINS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY

Bechtelsville, PA August 28, 2004 . . . For the fifth time this season Jeff Strunk was able to wheel the BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports #88 Modified to victory in the 30-lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. And in the 20-lap main event for NASCAR ShorTrack Late Models Chris Shuey was also able to grab his fifth win of the season as part of Kreiser Race Fuels/3M Night.
In victory lane Strunk apologized for a multi car accident that he felt he may have caused midway in the feature race. However most observers felt the accident, which eliminated several cars, was brought on by Rick Schaffer and Jon Kellner Jr. both charging for the same top five position and tangling going toward turn three. The Bethel, PA racer  did give most of the credit for the victory to his crew.
The victory did move Strunk closer to earning his fourth modified championship at the Berks County oval and kept him in the running for the NASCAR New England Regional championship worth close to $50,000. Strunk and VonDohren will battle it out for the title on Saturday night.
Ron Solomon got crossed up in turn four and that brought out the first caution. Solomon went from his pole position starting spot to last in the 29 car field before the first lap was complete. Mike Bailey was in front on the restart but Jon Kellner Jr. was quick to take the lead. Three laps later Bailey was back in front and set the pace, surviving a number of on track incidents that eliminated a large number of cars, until the 24th lap. Strunk, who had been chasing Bailey for several laps, took the top spot and was able to hold off a strong challenge from Craig VonDohren (Oley) who finished second (coming from 12th starting spot. Bailey (Kutztown) held on to third spot followed by Jon Kellner Sr.(Lansdale) coming from 15th starting position. Tracy Readinger (Oley) came from 18th to grab fifth. Winner Strunk started in 13th postion.
The 20-lap feature for NASCAR ShorTrack Late Models resembled a destruction derby rather than a race for the first five laps. In fact after five cautions in five laps the field was forced to restart single file in an effort to get the 20 lap event completed in a timely manner. Chris Shuey was able to shoot to the front, getting around pole sitter Buddy Wharton early, and lead all the laps in picking up his fifth win. The Orefield driver was able to hold off some serious challenges during the event but all fell short as Shuey had a comfortable lead over second place Jason Miller (New Tripoli) at the finish. Third spot went to Chuck Schutz (Pottstown) as he wrapped up the 2004 NASCAR ShorTrack Late Model championship. Randy Stoudt (Pottstown), the 2003 champion, came home fourth with Ron Kline (Salfordville) getting fifth.
Qualifying heat races for the Modifieds, each 10 laps, were won by Danny Erb, Jon Kellner Sr., Craig VonDohren, Rick Schaffer and Kevin Hartnett. Consolation victories (55 cars on hand) were earned by Barry Readinger, Sean Merkel and Meme DeSantis. The Cheers Tavern Cash Dash worth $300 went to Jon Kellner Sr.
In the Late Model preliminaries the wins were taken by Buddy Wharton, Kyle Pensinger and Chris Shuey. Ron Kline won the 10-lap consolation and it was Buddy Wharton winning the Jim Brown Cash Dash.
Fans and racers are reminded not to be left out. Raffle tickets are now available that could win them a trip for two as part of the annual Champion’s Trip in late November. This year the trip goes to Aruba for eight days and seven nights. Raffle tickets for the trip (the trip is valued at more than $3000 and is for two people) are priced at $20.00 each. About 50 tickets remain available. Each Saturday night stock car feature winner receives a free chance on the trip courtesy of Ernie Saxton Communications, Inc.
Coming up on Saturday, Sept 4, 7:30 p.m. is BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports Night with at least 14 events of stock car racing featuring the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds and Late Model stock cars. This will be the final point show of the season with the champions being decided.
Then on Saturday, September 11, 7 p.m. the T.H.Properties Freedom 76 Classic will be presented featuring a 76 lap main event with $20,000 going to the winner. Cheers Tavern will sponsor the Cash Dash worth $1000 for the winner. A full series of qualifying heats and the Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 will lead up to the feature race.
Fans are invited to sponsor laps for just $10.00 per lap with the money going to the leader of the lap they choose. Lap sponsors will be listed in the official program book for that night. To sponsor a lap telephone Ernie Saxton at 215.752.7797.

SHORT STORY RESULTS (For radio, TV and columnists)

KELLNER, STOUDT AND EGRIE WIN FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

Bechtelsville, PA May 29, 2004 . . . For the second Saturday night Jon Kellner Sr. was able to wheel the Hutt’s Glass #85AM to victory in the 30-lap Rossi Welding NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature race while Lou Egrie put his Parson’s Racing Components #X4 in victory lane in the Waste Management 20-lap NASCAR ShorTrack Late Model feature. Defending champion Randy Stoudt was tops in the second 20-lap feature wheeling the #22 Hutt’s Glass entry to his second win of the season.

Defending champion Jeff Strunk finished a strong second in the Modified feature with current point leader Craig VonDohren getting third. The first 20-lap Late Model feature had Harry Neiman right on Lou Egrie’s rear bumper at the finish while Steve Sennott grabbed third. And it was Kyle Pensinger having to settle for second after leading the second Late Model 20-lapper for many laps. Third went to Harry Neiman.

Racing returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, June 5th with the Auto Locator Magazine Night offering NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models with a 7:30 p.m. start.

KELLNER WINS FOR SECOND WEEK IN A ROW WHILE RANDY STOUDT AND LOU EGRIE GET LATE MODEL WINS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

Bechtelsville, PA May 29, 2004 . . . Jon Kellner Sr. had a simple explanation for winning the 30-lap Rossi Welding NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series modified stock car feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. “Everything is staying together on the race car,” said Kellner as he celebrated his second feature win in as many weeks at the Berks County clay oval. Lou Egrie made it look easy as he won the 20-lap Waste Management NASCAR ShorTrack feature that had been rained out back on May 15th. And it was Randy Stoudt charging past Kyle Pensinger to take the lead with two laps to go and racing to his second win of the season in the second 20-lap main event for the Late Models.

Cliff Quinn went to the front of the pack at the start of the 30-lapper for the Modifieds. Kyle Weiss challenged on a restart after a caution for a tangle that included Doug Manmiller and Rick Schaffer and was able to grab the lead. Weiss had things his way with the Schaeffer’s Harley Davidson #21K until a 13th lap restart when Jon Kellner (Lansdale) was able to put his Hutt’s Glass #85AM in front with Jeff Strunk charging up to second after starting in 11th spot in the 28 car field. At the 20 lap marker Kellner was in front being chased by Strunk and Terry Meitzler. One lap later point leader Craig VonDohren was a factor as he moved into third spot.

Strunk (Bethel), a three time and defending track champion, made every effort to grab the win and made a strong bid coming off the fourth turn at the finish only to have to settle for second to the quick running Kellner. Third spot went to VonDohren (Oley) coming from 12th. Meme DeSantis (Temple) came home fourth after starting 19th and Terry Meitzler (Kutztown) settled for fifth.

In the first 20-lap feature for the ShorTrack Late Models Kyle Pensinger went to the front as the green flag came out and just one lap later Lou Egrie, a two time Late Model champion, took the top position. At the midway point Rick Todorow brought out the red flag as he flipped in the backstretch. He was not hurt. On the restart Harry Neiman came up to pressure Egrie for the lead but to no avail as the Willow Grove racer outpowered the field to gain his first win of the season. Second spot went to Harry Neiman (Bower Beach, DE). Steve Sennott (Gilbertsville) was in the thick of the chase for much of the feature and took third followed by defending champion Randy Stoudt (Pottstown), coming from 16th, and early leader Kyle Pensinger (Lyon Station).

Pole sitter Steve Todorow got to lead just one lap before Kyle Pensinger went to the front of the 26-car starting field in the second 20-lap main event for the Late Models. Rookie Mike Kellner put a lot of pressure on Pensinger and actually moved in front of the field on the 11th circuit of the one-third-mile, banked clay oval. Pensinger put his Fleetwood Auto Parts entry back in front the next lap and set the pace until the 18th lap when Randy Stoudt, coming from 10th, took the lead and went on to win. The Pottstown racer picked up his second win of the season followed by Pensinger (Lyon Station), Harry Neiman (Bower Beach, DE), Mike Kellner (Lansdale) and Brian Shuey (Hamburg)

Steve Swinehart and late model racer Chris Shuey were involved in hard-hit accidents during the night that saw them get upside down. Neither driver was injured.

Qualifying heat races for the NASCAR Modifieds as part of  Rossi Welding Night went to Ray Swinehart, Mike Gular, Keith Brightbill and Craig VonDohren. The consolation races were won by Jason Smythe and Jon Kellner Jr. Mike Gular celebrated his 21st birthday by winning the Cheers Tavern Cash Dash.

In NASCAR ShorTrack Late Model qualifying events victories were earned by Kyle Pensinger, Mike Kellner and Steve Todorow while the consolation went to Rick Todorow. The Jim Brown Cash Dash was won by Kyle Pensinger.

Auto Locator Magazine will be paying out some bonus bucks for racers on Saturday, June 5th when the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models perform in at least 13 events of stock car racing with the green flag falling at 7:30 p.m. Each feature winner will earn an extra $100, each qualifying heat race winner will receive $50.00 and the Hard Charger in each feature will earn an extra $100 all courtesy of  Auto Locator Magazine.

United Racing Club sprint cars make their one and only Saturday night visit to Grandview Speedway on June 12th as part of a doubleheader show with the NASCAR Modifieds. The event will be sponsored by Scott Powersports of Coopersburg, PA.

June is another busy month at the NASCAR sanctioned one-third-mile, banked clay oval with each Saturday, starting with June 5th, crammed with exciting auto racing entertainment. The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series and ShorTrack Late Models are featured in 13 events of racing or more each Saturday night (except for June 12th when the URC sprinters replace the Late Models).

The Saturday, June 5th show will see sponsor, Auto Locator Magazine, posting more than $800 in bonus money with extra money going to the feature winners, heat winners and there will be bonus bucks for the Auto Locator Hard Chargers in each feature.

Zuber Realty is another new sponsor seeking to benefit from marketing through motorsports at Grandview Speedway on Saturday June 19th.

Harry’s U-Pull-It Auto Parts (with locations in Hazleton, Allentown and Pennsburg) will have their name on the June 26th show and that event will also be an RCN4 cable network tape delayed TV night.

And the month of June closes out with a Sunday, June 27th Thunder on the Hill show featuring the 410 Sprint Pennsylvania Sprint Speed Week Series event. There is a June 28th rain date. The Series features races at a number of area speedways featuring the exciting 410 sprint cars.

All June racing events will have a 7:30 p.m. starting time.

For those who like to plan well in advance the first event on the schedule for July will be the Firecracker 40 Late Model championship on Saturday, July 3rd along with a full show of Modifieds. The night of racing, including the biggest event of the season for the ShorTrack Late Models,  will be a remembrance to the late Jerry Glase who was a long time official at the Bechtelsville, PA oval.

All Saturday night stock car feature race winners will now have an added perk in their pay envelope. Chances are being sold on a trip for two on the annual Grandview Speedway Champion’s Trip, eight days and seven nights at plush hotel in Aruba (value of more than $3,000), for just $20.00 each. The annual trip is given to the Modified champion and a guest as part of the champion’s awards. And there is usually a large contingent that travels with the champion.

For the balance of the season, Ernie Saxton Communications (publisher of the Grandview Groove track magazine) will give a free chance to each stock car feature winner. The more feature wins a driver has the more chances he or she has to win the trip.

Just 150 chances will be sold, including those that are being given away to the feature winners, for the Champion’s Trip. Chances are available by seeing Marilyn or Ernie Saxton at the track or telephone 215.752.7797.
