Skyline Points Finalized for Release
Banquet Details to Come

STEWART, OHIO-In a year that saw an economy in dire straits, Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio persevered for another successful season of racing. Plans for the banquet--to be held November 19-- will be released soon.
Although this release is one year removed from the last season finale, the results were the same in the Sprint and Late Model Divisions which saw Jimmy Stinson, Vandalia, Ohio capture the 410 Sprint championship with owner Billy Jarrell and Chris Garnes, Evans, WV repeating in the AMRA Late Models. Andy Bond returned to championship form in the AMRA Modifieds, while Tommy Adkins captured the Four-Cylinders in a repeat performance, and Frankie Hall claimed the Semi-Late Crate Championship. R.D. Jones, St. Albans, was the high-point Mod Lite driver and Cole Mayle captured the Mini-Wedge title in 2011.
Overall, 355 cars competed at the Speedway. In times of economic recovery this was a huge plus. At least three tracks in Ohio closed in 2011; however, Skyline was one of a few to hold its own with large car counts and great racing. Reportedly, 43 local dirt tracks nationwide closed or sat idle in 2011. "Support your home track or tracks" is the battle cry that area drivers, promoters, and fans will carry in to the 2012 race season. "Without the fan and car support, the races cannot go on". Southeastern Ohio-Northern West Virginia fans were supportive of the racing at all Tri-State tracks.
Of the 355 cars that earned points throughout the year, the AMRA late models led with 94 cars overall, while the sprints tallied 41 and the AMRA Modifieds 86. The sprint title went right down to the wire after points leader Jimmy Stinson flipped on championship night. Stinson narrowly defeated Aaron Higgins 711 to 693 with Josh Davis in third 665, Dave Dickson fourth with 657, and Brian Benson 533.
In the Late Models Chris Garnes again claimed victory with a 744 to 614 pad over runner-up Ralph Withem. Chris Carpenter had 578, Larry Bond 575, and Andy Bond 574 to round out the top five.
With Skyline, Beckley and Elkins a trio of only a very few tracks running for AMRA points on Fridays, Skyline reaped the benefits of having a good location to draw drivers chasing AMRA points in both the Late Model and Modified divisions.
The Semi-Late Crate division began to bloom at the end of the season. Although some drivers switched from Late Model to Semi-Late Crates, an influx of new blood came into the pits as a result of the change.
Skyline Speedway would like to invite all drivers to the upcoming banquet on November 19. See a future release and details on the website at www.skylinespeedway.net for further details.
Congratulations and continued good luck to all drivers and fans, especially drivers earning championships. From the folks at Skyline Speedway, "Good Luck in the off season and we will see you next spring" with bigger and better things to come.

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-Oh what a night it would have been! With 42 powerful late models from five states and 40 modifieds in the pits, what looked to be a stellar night of racing turned sour and ended with a pop-up shower and rain-out. The race will now be Nov. 5, 2011 Overall, over 100 cars were in the pit area.
The Trick or Treat 50 for Topless Late Models at Atomic Speedway, Chillicothe, Ohio has been postponed to Nov. 5 with earlier start times. The powerful Late Models will line up for a hefty pay-off and a whopping $5000 to win! Last year, the topless race was a hit for both racers and race fans. The race pays $400 to start and as seen from the line-up on hand drew interest from several big-name drivers in the region. Jackie Boggs had set fast time of 13:775 of the 42 cars on hand.
Promotoer/Owner Jeff Schrader said, "After the rain hit and facing a forecast of below freezing fog, and freezing temperatures, there was just no way the track was going to dry out. I consulted with our race director Scott Wolfe and with his year's of experience, he felt the same way."
"With all the mud we already had in the pits, we had a great concern of getting cars out of the pits quickly and safely. Another concern many of the drivers had earlier in the night was to get the show in quickly before the freezing temperatures came. Their concern was the running of expensive aluminum motors in near freezing weather. Plus, there was no need to keep fans and crews waiting when the outcome was not favorable."
"On the positive side, wow, wasn't it going to be a great evening of racing. We wanted to get this race in badly. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us. I invite everyone to come back next week and fans--you won't be disappointed."
Also on the agenda Nov. 5 are the Advanced Services AMRA Modifieds and the Hobby Stocks.
Racing will start a an hour earlier this week because of the cool nights and early darkness. Pit gates open at 2:30 p.m and general admission gates at 3:00.
New Times: Hot Laps 5:00 /Racing 6:30/Driver's Mtg. 4:40 Other details are below.
Late Models and Modifieds will time trial. Late Models will have an open tire rule and body specs under AMRA which are nearly identical to all other sanctions--minus the roof. All Late Model cars must be topless with no roof whatsoever. Late Models must have an 8" spoiler no higher in the back than allowable by AMRA rules. No juiced tires.
Modifieds with roofs will race under the AMRA banner although no temporary permits or license fees are necessary because all points have ended for the season. All cars passing inspection at the DTWC will be eligible to run as well as other newcomers. AMRA Hoosier legal tires only. Raceceivers are required in all classes.
Atomic will also have an enduro Nov. 12 and also run go-karts that day. The swap meet has been cancelled for Nov. 12 in lieu of a go-kart racing special. The Kart race is tentatively set Nov. 12th for 12 noon. Gates will open at 9am with racing at 12 noon. There will be no swap meet this year.
Fans that cannot make it back Saturday, Nov. 5 can mail in armbands/tickets to:

Racing is ON for today. We are pushing the start time to 4 p.m. with practice at 3 p.m. to provide a little more time for our southern fans and teams the opportunity to travel north. With only 3 divisions it won't be a long show. We realize people work on Monday.

We know that there is devastation to the south with trees down and power out in many areas. We are in a tough spot but want to give the teams a chance to race for the RoC Championship. The track will not be any issue at all. It was sealed and packed tight prior to the precipitation.

Our forecast for today is sunny with temps. near 50.

For information please phone 607-775-5555.

NOTES AND QUOTES:

SPECIAL MILITARY-THEMED PAINT SCHEME AT MARTINSVILLE:

Josh Richards will run a special paint scheme at Martinsville Speedway this weekend to highlight artwork created by Alexandra and Hunter Vogel of Mooresville, N.C. The children's artwork was created to honor the U.S. Navy SEALs and warriors who lost their lives fighting terrorism in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011.

The NSW Community tragically lost 22 members on August 6. The fallen included Navy SEALs, Explosive Ordinance Disposal warriors, information systems professionals and cryptologic specialists. Along with these naval personnel, members of the Army aircrew, Air Force personnel and Afghan partners that fight with our soldiers every day were also lost in their efforts to serve our country.

Growing up as part of a Navy family, nine-year-old Hunter and seven-year-old Alexandra crafted artwork to show support for the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) families who lost loved ones on August 6. Hunter and Alexandra have since had their artwork made into stickers and have given them away to remind people of the sacrifices these and other warriors make every day. As a result, many of those who met Alexandra and Hunter and heard their story have made donations to the Navy SEAL Foundation, in turn making donations to the widows and children of the warriors who lost loved ones in that August 6 battle.

Richards met Hunter and Alexandra in August and has since had their special sticker on his Joy Mining Machinery Toyota Tundra in Bristol, Atlanta and Kentucky. Richards' partner Joy Mining Machinery was impressed by the story, and the company decided they would help Richards to extend Alexandra and Hunter's message. The company created a special paint scheme and generously donated the hood branding on Richards' entry for Saturday's NCWTS race at Martinsville Speedway to further showcase Alexandra and Hunter's effort and artwork.

Alexandra and Hunter Vogel, their family and guests from the Navy SEAL Foundation and the NSW community will attend the NCWTS race at Martinsville on Saturday as special guests of Richards and Joy Mining Machinery.

A website was created to help get the word out about the stickers and their fundraising effort. For more information, please visit www.NSWKids.com. To make a donation to the Navy SEAL Foundation, go to www.NavySEALFoundation.org.

KYLE BUSCH MOTORSPORTS AT MARTINSVILLE:

In four combined starts at Martinsville Speedway, Kyle Busch Motorsports Tundras have earned one pole and three top-five finishes while leading 92 laps of competition. KBM Toyotas have completed 100 percent (956 of 956) of laps contested at Martinsville Speedway. Team owner Kyle Busch has tallied two runner-up finishes in his last two attempts at the .526 mile Virginia track.

JOSH RICHARDS ON THE SPECIAL SEALs PAINT SCHEME FOR MARTINSVILLE:

"It was an honor to meet Hunter and Alexandra Vogel and to be a part of their effort to honor the Navy SEALs and warriors who gave their lives fighting terrorism. Their effort to honor the fallen has become a fundraiser for the Navy SEAL Foundation, and the widows and children of those who lost their lives on August 6. It's such a privilege to have their artwork on the hood of the Joy Mining Machinery Toyota for the race this weekend at Martinsville and to have Hunter, Alexandra, their family and guests from the Naval Special Warfare community at the race with the our team. Joy Mining Machinery generously donated branding for this race, and I really appreciate what they've done to help with this fundraising effort that Hunter and Alexandra started with the NSW Kids sticker campaign."

CREW CHIEF RICK REN ON TRANSITIONING FROM TALLADEGA TO MARTINSVILLE:

"Going from the high speeds at Talladega to short track racing at Martinsville is going to be a big change for Josh. The pace lap speed at Talladega was 70 mph, and at Martinsville they aren't racing too much faster than that on green flag runs. One big change is pit road. It's totally different at Martinsville. You have to learn to drive to a certain point and braking, throttle position and timing are key. The most important thing at Martinsville is to not hit the curb. It's really easy at Martinsville to hit the curb and then jump in front of traffic and get spun out. Martinsville is a track where if a driver is a hard charger, he usually doesn't run well there. At Martinsville, you've got to attack the track, but you can't attack it aggressively. One of the cool things about NASCAR is that there are no two tracks that are exactly alike. They all have their own character."

CHASSIS SELECTION:

Chassis KBM-134 will be making its first start of the 2011 season this weekend at Martinsville. It is the same Tundra that Brian Ickler drove to a third-place finish at Martinsville in 2010 after starting 32nd due to qualifying rain out. KBM-134 was also Busch's primary chassis for his second-place finish at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis in July of 2010.

Mike Pegher Jr. Wins First $30,000 FASTRAK Grand Nationals Championship!

Wexford, PA (October 25, 2011)
The Geisler Racing Team and Crate Late Model standout Mike Pegher Jr., have taken advantage of their 30th Anniversary with sponsor #1 Cochran Automotive by posting some unbelievable statistics throughout the season. Statistics aren't much of anything if you don't reach the goals a race team sets for themselves though and this past weekend, in Bulls Gap, TN and Volunteer Speedway, Pegher Jr., accomplished one of those goals by capturing the $30,000, FASTRAK Grand Nationals with his win at Dog Hollow Speedway on Saturday, October 1 and third and fourth place finishes at Volunteer.

Statistically, Mike's season has been phenomenal while competing in both Crate and Super Late Models. In 35 Crate starts, Pegher has posted an astounding 30 top ten finishes with 23 of them being in the top five. Add in Mike's 12 wins, the $30,000 FASTRAK Grand Nationals Championship and numerous other accomplishments the team has had in 2011 and it becomes a season that any race team would like to have. In 11 Super Late Model starts Mike has three top ten finishes, 2 top fives, and one win coming at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway back in May.

'I need to thank my crew, Lynn Geisler and all my sponsors, they're the ones that give me this opportunity to do this,' Pegher humbly stated during his on track interview at Volunteer Speedway. 'On one of the restarts I seen that he (Robbie Blair) was right there and I knew he was going to go for it so I sort of just let him go and followed him, I wasn't trying to win the race just win the money (Grand Nationals Championship).' Mike continued when asked about the FASTRAK Series, 'It's a really good series, up in the northeast it's gotten so big and it helps us out, you know guys that can't afford $40,000 motors to do Super Late Model racing; If it wasn't for Stan Lester, Vicki Emig and Mike Leone, we wouldn't be able to do it.'

Mike will be in action this Friday and Saturday, October 28 & 29 at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA for their season ending, $5,000 to win, 50 lap main event for the FASTRAK Late Models. Pegher will then head to Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, GA for the $20,000 to win 'Turkey 100' for unsanctioned Crate Late Models on Thanksgiving weekend, November 24, 25, & 26.

Josh Richards Finishes 13th at First Talladega Superspeedway Start

Josh Richards made his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) superspeedway start in the Coca-Cola 250 Powered by Fred's at Talladega on Saturday, learning the superspeedway draft and coming home with a 13th place finish. Partner Joy Mining Machinery had over 100 employees and guests in attendance at Richards seventh NCWTS start of the 2011 season.

The weekend started at Talladega with a two-hour practice where crew chief Rick Ren's focus was to give Richards a chance to learn the historic 2.66-mile superspeedway and to give Richards a chance to practice drafting. .

Richards started the Coca-Cola 250 Powered By Fred's 22nd in the Joy Mining Machinery Toyota Tundra and was up to 13th by the 10th lap of the 94-lap race. The first caution of the race came on lap 14 when Richards' No. 51 and the No. 8 of Nelson Piquet Jr. made contact in turn three. Richards was able to stay out of trouble and brought the Joy Tundra to pit road without any damage for a fuel only pit stop. The rookie said the truck felt good, but a little tight in the tri-oval. Richards restarted 12th on lap 17.

The race stayed green until a caution on lap 37 when Ren called the Joy Mining Machinery Tundra to pit road for four tires and fuel. Richards was 20th on the restart on lap 41, with teammate and truck owner Kyle Busch behind him. By lap 45, the two Kyle Busch Motorsports trucks were able hook up and draft together. Richards and Busch were running 18th and 19th respectively on lap 48, running four-wide on the outside when a caution was called for a wreck on the front stretch. Richards brought the Joy Tundra to pit road for fuel only.

On the restart, Richards and Busch were running 17th and 18th with Busch once again pushing Richards as soon as the green flag waved. The two KBM trucks were running on the outside line, three wide, when the two moved up to third and fourth pulling away from the field with 37 laps to go. Caution was called only three laps later, on lap 60, for fluid on the track.

Ren called Richards to pit road for a track bar adjustment and fuel on lap 62, urging the young driver to save fuel for the last 32 laps of the 94-lap race. Richards restarted 16th on lap 64, this time without the No. 18 of Busch as a drafting partner.

By lap 71, Richards felt a vibration in the rear of the truck while searching the field for a drafting partner. On lap 72, Richards was running 11th trying to draft with the No. 23 of Jason White when at lap 85 a caution was called for an accident on the backstretch. The team decided to stay out and not come to pit road. Ren again encouraged Richards to save fuel for the remaining laps. The sixth and final caution on lap 90 was called for debris while Richards was running 18th. When the checkered flag waved on lap 94 Richards crossed the finish line in his Joy Mining Machinery Toyota Tundra 13th in his first superspeedway start.

"KBM brought a great truck to the track this weekend," Richards said. "It was a really fun weekend, learning the two truck draft and especially in the race drafting with Kyle (Busch). I really enjoyed plate racing and look forward to coming to Talladega again."

Following the race, crew chief Rick Ren said, "Our goal for Josh this race was for him to finish on the lead lap and bring home the truck in one piece - mission accomplished. With everything that happens during a race at Talladega, it is a difficult place for veterans, let alone a rookie. I think Josh got more and more comfortable as the race progressed and was able to learn a heck of a lot about drafting when he hooked up with Kyle. Unfortunately, Josh got separated from Kyle on the last pit stop and was left to fend for himself at the end of the race. Josh was in a position for his first top-10 but got left without a partner on the last lap. It's tough to get other drivers to work with you when you are a rookie on the superspeedways. All things considered, Saturday was a positive day and we'll look for Josh to keep showing signs of improvement next weekend at Martinsville."

Richards next race will be Saturday, October 29 at Martinsville Speedway where he will run a special paint scheme highlighting artwork by Mooresville, N.C. residents Hunter and Alexandra Vogel. The children created artwork that was made into a sticker that they are currently giving away to honor the Navy SEALs and warriors who gave their lives fighting terrorism in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011. The stickers have become a way for the children to raise money for the Navy SEAL foundation and the widows and children of the fallen. Joy Mining Machinery donated hood branding to highlight the children's artwork and fundraising campaign.

Sarver, PA (October 24, 2011) 2010 O'Reilly All Star Late Model Series Rookie of the Year John Garvin Jr. and Copperhead Racing's 2011 season is starting to come to an end and what better time is for Garvin to pick up his first career victory at Lernerville Speedway in his hometown of Sarver, PA.

Garvin, also known as 'Copperhead', went into the weekend with seven top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes, most of which have come in later half of the season. Strong finishes recently at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH, Imperial, PA's Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway, and Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA have built confidence in Garvin and his team as they were able to breakthrough for the $3,000 win at Lernerville Speedway's season ending, 'Steel City Stampede'.

'We've had to work really hard to get back into victory lane,' Garvin said after being held winless since September, 11 of 2010. 'It's been over a year since we've won, and for as much as we feel we have improved and grown as a team over the past year, it's relieving to finally get back into the win column.'

'Copperhead' added a bit of a twist to his schedule at the 'Steel City Stampede' as he debuted a Crate Late Model for the first time. John and his Garvin Scrap Metal, Graff Trucking, Sarver Landscape and Garden Supply, JNJ Motorsports Media, Chub Frank Racing sponsored Rocket Chassis crate car was battling for the lead position with Crate regular Butch Lambert when the two got together sending Garvin into the fence ending his bid for a 'Steel City Sweep'. The crate car was really, really good,' quipped Garvin, 'if we had a chance to win one of the two races, I thought it would have been with the crate, it was really dialed in. It was just a racing deal; we'll get the car put back together to go down south later in the year.'

'I need to thank my mom and dad for all of their support and all of our sponsors for sticking with us through some rough times this season,' John continued. 'We didn't have the best of starts to the year but I think we turned the corner here towards the end of the season and hope to keep it going while we finish 2011 out and move into 2012.'

John Garvin Jr. and his Copperhead Racing team will be in action this Saturday and Sunday at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD for the 24th Annual 'Octoberfest' that will pay $10,000 to the winner. Copperhead will then take a few weeks off before ending his season at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, GA for the $20,000 to win, Crate Late Model 'Turkey 100' on Thanksgiving weekend, November 24, 25, and 26.

Still time to Exhibit!!

National Parts Peddler Trade Show

Nov. 18, 19 & 20

New York State Fairgrounds

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK

To: Motorsports Industry Professionals, Businesspeople, Entrepreneurs & Enthusiasts:

Thirty-two years ago we opened the trade show and racers auction, designed for small shops and racers with big dreams. It was the right recipe for the booming times. Many of the most successful companies in our industry started at the Parts Peddler Trade Show in Syracuse with a card table and chair. Individuals with a passion to develop race cars and parts turned into successful careers.

We all know the motorsports industry has really changed and blossomed. Trade shows and businesses have come and gone. Our Parts Peddler event took a curve a few years ago from largely a race car auction and show to now 90 percent trade show. We still offer a couple hours of feature race cars being sold through the auction to keep the long tradition going. This year’s Parts Peddler show will represent our 32nd consecutive year that we produced the enormously popular event at the New York State Fairgrounds. We have continually thrived to diversify the event to what it is today. It’s an excellent opportunity for any company to reach both businesses and end users all at once.

When the recession started last year I noticed a few of the companies that said they didn’t need trade shows or they did not want to deal directly with their consumers. Some of them are now out of business.

As you know from your experience it’s a pleasure to do business with a firm that keeps customer satisfaction at the top of their priority list. Making certain that every one of your customers go home from the show with a positive feeling about you and your product. I have found that this is an easy way for your customers to turn into walking advertisements for your business.

Square foot-wise, for a three-day show with a history of over 32 years, our exhibit space is one of the most economical in the country. Exhibitors enjoy a no-hassle move in and out policy. We all fear what some venues charge exhibitors for dock use, forklifts, pallet jacks, etc. It is common for companies to spend as much money for extras as they pay for exhibit space. We try to eliminate this problem.

There is still time to confirm your exhibit space for this year’s show… but please act at once! We are only a few weeks away. You can expect one of our most positive shows ever. Dollar for dollar spent, Syracuse has always been a great value. If you want to stimulate sales in the Northeast, this is the place to be. We’re looking forward to hearing from you and your participation in our 32nd Annual National Parts Peddler Trade Show. Call me now at 315-699-7583 to take advantage of what we have to offer.

Doug Bennett Wins Street Stock 50-lapper Miller’s Racing Parts Fall Classic at SSP on Saturday Night; Rodriguez and Stoll Jr. Also Claim Wins

Newberrytown, PA (October 22, 2011) – Doug Bennett of Chambersburg led all fifty laps of the Street Stock main event to earn $2,500 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday night. The Street Stock feature was one of three divisions featured at the 8th Annual Miller’s Racing Parts Fall Classic presented in part with Insinger Performance Fuels. Dover’s J.R. Rodriguez took the lead from the start and never looked back to win the Xtreme Stock Car 40 lapper. Wellsville’s John Stoll Jr. won the 30-lap Four Cylinder Stock Car feature.

The 50-lap Street Stock feature event began with Friday’s Cash Dash Winner Bill Henney and Doug Bennett bringing the field to the green flag. Coming out of turn two after the green flag was displayed, the front runners were spun, collecting a total of nine cars. After the scene was cleared, all but two were able to continue. On the second restart, another accident occurred collecting another five cars. On the next double file restart, Bennett was the polesitter with Jed Latshaw on the outside front row. The third time proved to be the charm as Bennett quickly grabbed the lead, followed by Latshaw and Jim Palm Jr. The caution did not fly again until lap 14. A few more cautions bunched up the field, but at the end, Bennett claimed the feature win over Mike Zeigler Jr. Zeigler was the hard charger of the race, improving 22 spots from his 24th starting position. Dan Zechman got by Jed Latshaw to finish third. Latshaw ran a strong third for the entire race until the final lap when he slid high and finished eighth. Scott Thunberg and Jeff Haag rounded out the top five. Dan Zechman won the B-Main. Friday’s heat race wins went to Kory Sites; Bill Henney; Jeff Haag and Doug Bennett.

The 40 lapp Xtreme Stock Car race had Donnie Broderick and J.R. Rodriguez brought the field to the green with Rodriguez taking the lead. Rodriguez held steady with the lead throughout the lead, but the runner-up spot saw Broderick, Davey Nestor and Adam Smith all holding thet spot one time in the race. A rash of mid-race cautions slowed the field, but not Rodriguez as he went on to capture the win followed by Adam Smith at the end. Travis Horan made a late race run to finish third. Broderick settled for fourth with Ricky Bender rounding out the top five. Friday nigh heat race wins went to Nestor, Smith and Rodriguez. Rich Day won the B-Main. Adam Smith won the Cash Dash and Michael Goodwin won the Hard Charger award by starting 25th and finishing 8th.

In the 30-lap Four Cylinder Stock Car feature event, Mike Potts lead lap one until Brian Wentzel took the top spot on the next circuit. Wentzel led until lap seven when he was forced to retire from the race with engine problems. Leroy Long inherited the lead and held it for two laps when John Stoll Jr. blasted by on lap 10 and never looked behind to claim the feature win. Long settled for second, followed by Potts in third. BRACHMANN TOP COWBOY AT THE STEEL CITY STAMPEDE

For the second year in a row, the top cowboy at Lernerville Speedway's Steel City Stempede hailed from New York. Chad Brachmann romped to the win in the season finale for the BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour.

"We really got our program together now," Brachmann said. That, sir, is an understatement. Just one month ago, he shocked the Western Pennsylvania racing scene by copping his first series win at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway with a potent 358 powerplant between the rails of his Bicknell chassis. Then, back on familiar turf, he earned the final starting spot for the SEF 200 at Syracuse by winning at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park with the same car.

Brachmann figured that the odds would be in his favor in the 30 lapper. With over 200 cars in competition, the track slicked off and Brachmann's mount had a decided advantage.

The luck of the draw put Brian Swartzlander and Steve Feder on the front row of the feature event. Swartzlander grabbed the lead at the start,
but Feder was under immediate attack from Rex King, Sr. King took second on lap two, and he set out after the leader. However, the man on the move was Brachmann, who advanced four spots in the first five laps of the race.

A brief stoppage for the flat left rear tire of former series champion Russell King bunched the field up for Brachmann. Although Swartzlander got away with the lead, Brachmann, King and Feder were three wide, fighting for positions behind him.

Brachmann worked his way into second by lap ten, but King Sr. was not going away easily. He rallied to regain second for a lap, but Brachann took second for good on lap 12. Now it was his turn to press Swartzlander for the lead.

He used a powerfull outside move in turns three and four to grab the lead away from Swartzlander with fifteen laps in the books. A few circuits later, King Sr. slipped past Swartzlander.

Trucker Don Brown brought out the second caution of the race on lap 21. Brachmann then employed a little strategy by taking the outside line. That pinned King behind a lapped car for the restart. Predictably, Brachmann bolted awy from the pack when the green was displayed
again.

King's bid for the win came to an end on lap 25, when he pulled to a stop in turn one with a flat tire. He pitted for new rubber and completed just one more lap before retiring with a broken power steering belt.

That put Swatrzlander beside Brachmann for the restart, but he was unable to capitalize on the opportunity. Instead, it was Kevin Bolland who entered the fray. Bolland had sarted in 16th spot and had quietly advanced through the field. Bolland raced from fourth to second on lap 26.
While Brachmann continued to lead, there was now a furious battle for second bewteen Bolland, Swartzlander and Jeremiah Shingledecker.

Another caution for Brown interrupted that action and set the stage for the most dramatic moment of the race.

Brachmann again selected the outside for the restart, but Bolland got to line up beside him. Coming down for the green, the cars were three wide, and track officials called Bolland for jumping the restart. That put him back a row and gave Swartzlander the second position again.

When the race went green again, Brachmann and Swartzlander pulled away, but there was tight competition behind them. Bolland spun in turn two and collected Shingledecker and Mike Turner. Bolland and Turner were able to rejoin the race, but Shingledecker left the speedway on a hook.

The final two laps were completed without incident, but there was plenty of positions changing hands.

Brachmann crossed the line 1.124 seconds ahead of Swartzlander. Dave Murdick rallied for third, after being shuffled back in the field a few laps from the end of the race. Rex King, Jr. and Kevin Hoffman completed the top five.

Jim Weller, Jr. led the next group across the stripe. He was followed by Brian Weaver, Phil Evans, Jr., Bolland and Turner.
KIng Sr. finished a disappointing 23rd, but his heat race performance gave him enough of a cushion that he was declared the champion unofficially before the start of the race.

The Landrum Spring racer of the race award was conferred on Kevin Bolland for his strong run from sixteenth to second before misfortune struck. The R2C prize was awarded to Kevin Hoffman.

Rod End Supply Heat race wins went to Weller, D. Murdick and Shingledecker.

There was no B Main.
